Lightning to 30-pin Adapter issues - flimsy and won't work with cases

Anyone else having issues with the Lightning to 30-pin Adapter/Connectors? When applied to my Sony docking stations (numerous btw), the iPhone 5 barely rests securely on the connector AND the Lightning pin itself won't even fit or connect on the phone when the cases is on - this is iPhone 101 folks. I shall be returning all of my conenctors that I have purchased as they do me no good. Would really appreciate a proper fit and well stock of these items ASAP as its causing tremendouse aggrevation with the conenctor switchover.

I have the same problem. I bought the same type of Speck Candy Shell case that I had for my 3GS iPhone. The $34.00 Lighting to 30-pin adapter will not fit through the case and into the IPhone 5. I just talked to Apple support and after being on hold 5 mins while the tech talked to her supervisor, the Apple solution is "take your case off the phone when you want to use the adapter". I hope thousands of us complain and Apple fixes this. If Apple had not been so secretive and talked to accessory manufacturers they would of know that the Adapter they designed was faulty. Now I how to drive to an Apple store to return the Adapter to get my money back. Only the USB cable will fit through the case into the iPhone 5.
Bad Adapter design my Apple. Thats what happens when you design a product for millions of people - in a secretive bubble.

  • How do I delete zibzoom toolbar from my computer. It says its experimental and won't work with 5.0.

I joined the Zibzoom.com company they were encouraging everyone to download the zibzoom toolbar so I did but it don't look like it all installed properly. So I want to remove it and nothing I've trie has worked. Finally I looked it up under firefox add ons and it shows that it is experimental and says it won't work with firefox 5.0 it will work with 1.0 trough 4.0 this company should not have been trying to get people to signup for this stupid thing. Now I can't get it off.

You should be able to find it in the Extensions menu if it's been installed. Click the orange Firefox button, go to Add-ons, then Extensions. Remove it from there.
    See also: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_FAQs_:_Uninstall_Extensions
But it does clearly state on the Add-ons site that it's not designed to work with Firefox 5.0.1 See screenshot.

  • Lightning to 30 Pin Adapter Charging Starts and Stops Intermittently

I purchased two Lightning to 30 Pin adapters, and both are exhibiting the same problem.  They seem to start and stop charging intermittently on my iPhone 5, which, to be clear, is not in a case, nor is the adapter obstructed in any way.
I purchased one for a dedicated iPhone/iPad charging station that I keep by my nightstand.  The adapters fit flush with the 30 pin connector on the charging station side.  At least three or four times during the night, the phone vibrates twice with the "you've just connected to power" alert and wakes me up. Trying the same thing in the car with the other adapter, the iPhone charging starts and stops while connected to my 12v power converter via a Twig cable.  When I connect the standard Lightning cable to either the charging dock (through its included USB ports) or directly to the same 12v converter plug in my car's cigarette lighter, I have no trouble charging at all.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?  Could I have two faulty adapters (which doesn't seem likely), or is there something in the nature of the adapter that makes it turn on and off the charging on occasion?

  • New 150/65 only at 94 Download AND Won't Work with Gigabit Switch

I just had this installed today, converting up from the 35/35, and ran into these two problems:
    1.  The 150 download is only resulting in a 94.87 Mpbs.  The installer originally said it must be my PC NIC card, but I do have a GB card, so there's does not appear to be legitimate reason for the shortfall there.  I tried to change the link speed and duplex from "auto negotation" to "1 Gbps Full Duplex," but then my computer no longer even could connect.
    2.  The second issue is that I have always run my connection through a D-Link DGS-2208 Gigabit Switch because I have multiple wired ethernet computers in my office.  The installer wanted to test the connection speed directly through my computer (see above) and ran into problems, so I never even tried to revert to my original setup with the switch until he left.  However, when I did the Gigabit switch does not even recognize any activity when I plug the source ethernet cord into the switch.  It does recognize the connection to the PC and the port is lit, but no lights from connection to the wall.
Any thoughts on what the problems could be?  I've included the "additional details" from the Fios Speed test at the standard site (can't get any details from the high speed version):

If your computer can't negotiate a 1Gbps connection, then that is what is limiting you to 94Mbps, which is about right for a "100Mbps" port.
There could be several reasons for this.
    A bad NIC
A bad port on the switch
IMO, the most likely cause is a bad cable.  1Gbps requires all 4 pairs in the cable be connected.  If only 2 of the 4 pairs are connected correctly, you will get a 100Mbps connect, but will not be able to connect at 1Gbps.  Try replacing the cable with one known to work at 1Gbps.

  • Lightning to 30-pin Adapter Availability

Not only is it disgusting that we now have to purchase the Lightning to 30-pin Adapter to get the phone to work with all of our other systems, Bose sound system, car connection etc  But Apple dont release anywhere near enough of them to cope with the demand.  Also they have put some sort of chip in it to restrict any other manufacturer from making an equivalent.
Come on Apple your products are good but not that good and potentially you will not be the richest company in the world for much longer.

I Agree 100%. I have been an apple user for many years. Everythig at work / home is apple sofware and hardware. I develop for iOS and have purchased every iPhone up-to-date. I have never had an issue with apple until now, and have always stood loyal to them even when people around me doubted... but now? Not so much. I am starting to lose faith in this company with the mistakes they are making. Remember the blackberry? This is how it all started. ******* people off one bit at a time. Why did we not recieve the Lightning adapter with our iPhone 5's? Because Apple was too eger to get the phone out the door for their 4th quarter. Why do we have to pay for it? Because Apple decided to put way to much thought into something so darn simple. Why is there no availablity? Because Apple simply does not care if I can use my iPhone in my car or with my home stereo system... They already made their 900 bucks off me. Why are they the richest company in the world? Because Steve Jobs was running their company... Do you think he would have allowed this to happen? I doubt it. He knew how to take care of his customers. I will continue to use Apple products until something better comes along, and so will everyone else, but when that "something better" comes along, Apple will no longer be the wealthiest company in the world and will be thinking "What happened?" just like RIM is.

  • My iphone 4 microphone won't record sound on video clips and doesn't work with Skype

This is the first time I have used the forum. My iphone4 microphone won't record sound on video clips, and won't work with Skype.

I have checked that I have the latest software. I have restarted phone. I am not sure how to perform the other things you mentioned , restore and reset as new... Would I lose any data by doing these? Thanks for the reply.

  • Apple Lightning to 30-Pin Adapter and 1st generation connector

Will an Apple Lightning to 30-Pin Adapter allow an iPhone 5 to charge from a 1st generation connector? When I plug my old iPhone 3s directly into my 2006 Lexus LS430 connector, the iPod function will work but not charge. This is apparently because 1st gen connectors didn't have a USB charge capability. I'm hoping the adapter will correct that.

As I suggested above ,the first iPod had a firewire connection ,as did the next ( I have one)
I also had the first Bose sounddock which was designed for the first iPod and required the afore mentioned adapter to work with my iPhone 3G
As I said to charge the iPhone 3G you need the  adapter to change the 30 pin wiring from having firewire to just USB as everything is today
    Look at
as an example ,this is the type of adapter you require to change the car live connection to support the iPhone 3G
If you then also want to use an iPhone 5 you will IN ADDITION require the lightning to 30 pin adapter

  • HT1665 I have the lightning to 30 pin adapter and it doesn't work.

I bought a lightning to 30-pin adapter and the thing won't  work. I connect is very loose.

So what do you think writing to a technical support forum would accomplish?  Do you really need someone here to tell you to return it?

  • Dear Apple's people, please note that "Lightning to 30 pin Adapter" don't work with iPhone5 and iPhone5s "Base Dock"  !!!!

Dear Apple's people, please note that "Lightning to 30 pin Adapter" don't work with iPhone5 and iPhone5s "Base Dock"  !!!!

  • Can you use an iPhone 5 and the lightning to 30 pin adapter with the Scosche IPNRFCS wireless Car RF remote?

I'd like to use this remote for my iphone 5 in my car to listen to music. The iphone will be plugged  into the stereo and be stowed away but I want a way to change the song because my stereo doesnt allow complete ipod control. Can i use the 30 pin adapter with this remote to hook the wireless adapter for the remote to the iphone? So i guess what im asking is does the lightning to 30 pin adapter support whatever kind of data is going between the iphone and wireless remote adapter? If not are there any good alternatives out there? Thanks!

I am pretty sure that will not work.  Does your TV have HDMI?  You will need this:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter?fnode=4 5&fs=m.iphoneCompatibility%3Diphone_5
The adapter your purchased has this note :
This adapter lets you connect devices with a Lightning connector to many of your 30-pin accessories.* Supports analog audio output, USB audio, as well as syncing and charging. Video output not supported.

  • IPhone 5 Lightning to 30-pin adapter

Just received my long awaited lightning to 30-pin adapter (three of them) for my iPhone 5 only to discover that to charge my phone in the car or listen to music in my office on my Altec Lansing, I have to take the case off. This rather defeats the purpose of a having a case, invites accidental damage to the phone, and, in general, is pain in butt to take the case off everytime. Clearly, Apple didn't think this one through. The adapter needs to be redesigned so that the pin part is longer. It's simply too short, and again, won't fit with cases. This doesn't affect just me; if affects millions of consumers who have purchased the iPhone 5. An alternative solution is to cut the case but I paid handsomely for a handmade, wooden case and I'm not keen on taking an exacto knife to cut the hole bigger.
Has anyone else discovered this little snafu????
    Jean

@gdgmacguy: Yes, Apple makes phones. And Apple makes adapters for those phones. And Apple made an adapter that won't plug into those phones when they are in a case.  The cases work fine with the iPhone 5. The issue involves the adapter. The pin on the adapter is not long enough to plug into the iPhone 5 with the case on. Apple hires geniuses but sometimes genius gets in the way of practical. Somebody at Apple should have put a case on an iPhone 5 and tried to plug in the adapter. Duh.
Bottom line: Apple screwed up. The adapter should have been released along with the phone to consumers at no extra cost. The adapter specs should have been released when iPhone specs were released so case makers could have made cases that accomodate the adapter. Apple should have made the pin longer to accomodate cases.
Wonder what Apple is going to do to address this issue.

  • Case for iphone 6 plus with lightning to 30 pin adapter?

I recently upgraded to a iPhone 6 plus from an iPhone 5.  I have been using the square lightning to 30 pin adapter to adapt the 30 pin plugs on both my bedside clock radio/dock for overnight charging and in the glovebox connector in my 2013 VW Jetta.  I had no issues connecting the plug with an Otterbox Defender on my iPhone 5.  However, there are very few cases on the market right now for the iPhone 6 plus, and the Otterbox was not readily available when I purchased the phone 2 weeks ago, and I'm also not so sure I want to fork over the $60 since Apple isn't recommending the Otterboxes anyways.  I'm not sure I buy into the Lifeproof concept, although I know some people love them.  The Tech21 cases also have to be ordered, and don't have integrated screen protection like the Otterbox Defender.  Admittedly, as careful as I try to be with my phone, I am a dropper and need a protective case.  I ordered a cheaper Caseology case, but it does not allow the lightning to 30 pin adapter plug to attach, so I cannot charge my phone on my bedside dock or in my car with the adapter.  I looked at the Spigen cases online as well as several others, but none of them seem, from visual inspection of the online photos, to have the large opening that the Otterbox for my iPhone 5 did that allowed the adapter to be connected.
Yes, I could buy extra lightning cables and reinvent my whole charging system, but I have found the cables to be not nearly as durable as the adapters (I've gone through many cables in the last two plus years, but still have the same two adapters.)  I would rather find a case that accommodates the adapter.  Any suggestions for cases that will allow the adapter to be attached with the case still on?

Have a look at cableJive they make the dockStubz which might do what you are looking for

  • Lightning to 30-pin adapter not working w/iHome/iPhone 6.

Lightning to 30-pin adapter is not working correctly with iHome/iPhone 6.  When I plug phone in the music and time update will work but it won't charge the phone, unless I turn my phone around but then music won't work.  I've only had my iHome for a year and used it with no problem with my 4S.  Now that I have the iPhone 6 I decided to get the adapter so I wouldn't have to spend money on a new iHome.  I thought I just had a bad adapter, at least that's what they told me in the Apple Store.  So I exhanged it at Best Buy, where I bought it, and got another one.  Very disappointed that I have the same problem.  Anyone else have this problem?  Did I just wain't $30.

    No-one from Apple here
It is either a corrupt update to iOS
or something in Honda that no longer likes iOS 8.3
To eliminate an issue with iOS 8.3 basic troubleshooting
    Restart
    Reset
Restore ,as new ,check iPhone functions if working correctly then restore your back up to get back to normal
If still an issue you then need to eliminate the potential Honda side,2007 is very old technology compared to 8.3
