Lightning to hdmi with separate audio to speaker ?

I have an iPhone five that I'm trying to hook up to a projector as well as the speaker using the lightning toHDMI connector. While using Bluetooth or the headphone jack I still don't get audio out of the speaker does anyone know how to accomplish this

BSteely,
Thanks, I learned something.
I also know that HDTV support and DVI-to-HDMI support just plainly blow chunks under Linux. The issue,if I understand things properly, has to do with licensing fees more than anything else. You can find my trials of trying to get a DVI to HDMI to work under the english forums at www.ubuntu.com . Do a search for HDMI, you will find my rather lengthy postings.
Then I pulled over to XP and have had issues with the 1080i mode being way too interlaced (the dang screen shakes likes my grandma).
With the Mac, it just plainly worked on the 1080i without visible shaking. I dunno how they did it, but hey it worked. If you are serious about a media hub, I am begining to think that the mini is the way to go. The only issue that I am seeing at the moment is the lack of either a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD version of the Mac mini. I think that Apple is behind the HD-DVD variation.
The other portion that I am trying to research out is a good HDTV adapter for the Mac. I don't think there is one. Although this is not a big issue for me, as I only do DVDs and not TV of any sort.
Thanks,
Sean Patzer, MCSE.

  • Playlists don't work with separate audio clips

I have a timeline with 8 different clips and chapter playlists set up to play each clip individually and to play them in pairs.  This works fine.
But when I add audio to the timeline it goes wrong. I have 8 different audio clips that match up with the video clips.  If I view the timeline itself, everything is OK.  If I view the first clip's playlist (with the first audio clip) it also works OK.  But if I view any of the other playlists, the DVD (and previewer) return me back to the menu as soon as the audio track starts (this is the end action). If I delete any of the audio tracks, the playlists for those videos work fine again.
I also see similar behaviour on another timeline where a second audio clip starts midway: the chapter immediately before the new audio track is skipped in a playlist and the DVD plays the subsequent chapter (there are many chapters on that timeline).
The only solution I've come up with is to burn a DVD with no audio, rip the video, line up the audio tracks I want to use with the video, export them all in one big file and then add that single clip into Encore.  It's not really something I want to do, to be honest.
Is there any explanation for this strange behaviour, or is it another bug?
Thanks for any help or pointers towards sorting this out.

I'm with Neil on the 8 separate Timelines. There are pitfalls to grouping multiple Clips onto one Timeline, and even an Audio Unit's difference in Duration can cause issues.
If you do go with the discrete Timelines workflow, you'll just do Playlists, and not Chapter Playlists instead.
    Good luck,

  • Possible to capture with separate audio input?

I'd like to move from using a tricaster to capturing live audio and video directly into premiere. I understand how to capture video, but my question is about using a different audio input for the video, rather than camera audio. i have a microphone connected to the computer through a USB XLR adapter box, and that's the mic i'd like to use for the video i'm capturing. is there any way to do this with premiere, or will i have to record that audio track separately, then bring it into premiere, sync it, etc? it would be great to be able to do this all at once.

Signal for A/V capture comes into Premiere via IEEE 1394 (Firewire),
and the audio and video are already combined.
You might be able to find a way to use the inputs on your deck or
camera for connecting your mic, and send that audio via Firewire
to Premiere along with the video, but that would be a function
    of your deck... not Premiere.
...will i have to record that audio track separately, then bring it into premiere, sync it, etc? it would be great to be able to do this all at once.
Yeah... it's not the end of the world (it's a standard practice) but,

Having problems connecting iMac(late 2006) running 10.7.5 to a Samsung Flat Screen TV using separate audio/speaker cable and HDMI standard cable, mini-DVI to HDMI video converter.  TV displays generic Apple galaxy background and "some" windows (e.g. screen resolution choices).   It does not show Mail or Safari menus.  System preferences'  display "gathered" the Samsung and chose its resolution.  I did not find a way to select the Samsung as my display.
In addition to having old hardware, we have Verizon FIOS providing internet and TV access.  Is there any way to make this work for us?  We would like to stream video (Netflix) and view shows from the Web.  Do we need Apple TV to do this?  Or is it not possible with our old iMac?  My husband thinks that our Airport could be a factor.
    Thank you

Lately, I have been seeing a lot of posts with users trying to use their Macs/iMacs to mirror their streaming video from their Macs to an HDTV.
There are, actually, many alternatives to choose from than just from a Mac.
You need to have or invest in a WiFi capable router for all of these examples.
Apple TV only integrates with WiFi and newer Mac hardware. So, if you want to have total integrated experience, if you have a 2011 Mac or newer, you might as well pay the $100 for the AppleTV box.
If you have a older Mac, like I have noticed many users do, then you have other options.
If you want to elimate long cable clutter and having your Mac at the mercy of your TV all of the time,  you can still use the AppleTV box independently or purchase cheaper alternative media streaming boxes from Roku, Sony, Boxee or any number of electronics manufacturers that now have media streaming boxes and media streaming capability built into DVD/Blu-ray players.
These eliminate long cable clutter by being close to the HDTV where shorter, less expensive cables can be used.
Another alternative for iPad users is to use an iPad with the USB/HDMI video adapter and use your iPad as the streaming box. This ties up your iPad in much the same way as it does with your Mac, but again the iPad can be close to the TV and use minimal cables to the TV.
Another alternative to is to use a combination of an iPad and your Mac to stream content that is only available to stream online from a computer. In this case, you can use a desktop remote app on your iPad and Mac. A good and cheap Desktop Remote app is Splashtop Remote. This allows you to completely connect your iPad remotely, over Wifi, to your iMac desktop. The app streams both video and sound to the iPad which is still connected to your HDTV. The resultant stream video picture will be smaller than the size of your HDTV, but it will still be plenty large enough to watch. Again, if you own a iPad and an Intel Mac, this method also allows minimal cabling to the TV.

  • Mini DVI to HDMI with audio. Where can I find it?

I'm looking for a cable adapter (mini DVI to HDMI with audio) to my mac book air (2010). Where can I find it?

DVI and miniDVI only transmit video-signals but no audio-signal.
Regardless of the cable adapter you get (I don't have any recommendation) you always have to make a audio-cable connection between the MBA and the TV.

  • MiniDP to HDMI with audio for Imac bought in february

    Hi
I want to know if there is any way I can output videos using HDMI with audio with an Imac bought in februaary 2010? I saw the Moshi cable but apparently it does not support audio for early 2010 macs. Any suggestions or info on this? What could I do?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
as far as I know there seems to be two versions of that Moshi adapter.
An earlier one without audio and a later one with audio support.
But I don't know how to distinguish one form the other. Maybe the Moshi website can offer some hints.
Since Apple lists the later one in the document plus sells it in their own Store I assume they tested it with the various Mac mentioned in that document.

  • Replacing audio track with and synching with separate recording

    Hello,
I've read everything I can find, including numerous websites, the help file, and a book, but can't find this answer with step by step instructions using Premiere Elements 9.
I have the trial version, and will purchase once I figure this out. I only need to make Youtube videos with a separately recorded audio file replacing the audio that is already on the video. in other words,  I have a separate Mp3 audio file of the same audio performance using an audio recorder and I want to replace the audio on the original video with the other Mp3.
What are the steps involved to make sure the new audio is in synch with the audio already on the video, beginning with the original recordings and working through to the finished product?
    Thank you.

Hunt, I hope I didn't seem dismissive of Steve's book - I did think it was very good and am glad I purchased it. I just wasn't able to figure out the answer based on what was in it.
I did not take your comment as dismissive in any way, and highly doubt that Steve did either. I do not have his newer version book, but only some older ones, or I would have grabbed it and checked to see if he DID cover this material in it, just maybe buried in another topic. My comments were pure speculation, as what you are doing is not "mainstream," though is becoming more so monthly.
For my PrPro (slightly older version), I have the printed manual (yes, they used to do those), the Adobe Classroom in a Book, plus several other volumes dedicated to it, and even the print-out of the Help File PDF. Still, I, and other users are always coming up with some use, that is not covered anywhere!
One of the recent changes to the Help File in many Adobe programs, is that it is now a live On-line document, and there are engineers, who do little but update and add to that. This was almost impossible with printed material (though I still have my old ring-binder for the original WordPerfect, and monthly, they used to send me new pages to either add, or replace - long time ago).
When I am working in the forums, I usually have the particular program open and in front of me, as I am always coming up against questions, thinking, "wow, I would never have thought of doing that," and having to duplicate the actions that a poster outlines, or experimenting to find if what they want is possible. Often, when I do one of the experiments successfully, I'll add an article on doing it, to the Tips & Tricks sub-forum here. One example of that was "Fading a Title Crawl," which turned out to be both fun, and relatively easy, when I got into the experiments.
I have a stong feeling that Steve will have a bit more "music video" instruction in his next PrE book, as it is becoming more popular, as evidenced by the number of posts that we are seeing lately. More folk are doing that. Same thing for shooting with what were considered non-standard cameras, just a few years ago, like various smartphones.
    Good luck, and happy editing,
    Hunt

  • Play a QuickTime file with eight separate audio channels

I'm trying to play a QuickTime file with eight separate audio channels but they only play in stereo......  the same QT file will play all 8 channels separately in Qlab, which has separate level controls for each channel, and which "sees" my Digidesign 002 audio interface.  But QT does not recognize the interface, nor does Audio MIDI Setup utility, apparently.....  it will play all 8 channels mixed to stereo through channels 1 and 2

The following will answer both your questions a) and b).
Click on your master timeline and press cmd+0 (zero) to bring up Sequence Settings, then click on the Audio Outputs tab on the right. Click on the Outputs option and change it to 6. You can leave them as Stereo pairs.
Now, back on your timeline, you need to make sure all your audio is organised so each track. A1, A2, A3, A4 etc has all the relevant media on it.
Then, on the left of the timeline you see the Destination toggle buttons, then you see the Padlocks to lock tracks, then you have the Toggle Auto Select squares. If you right-click on the Toggle Auto Select squares you bring up a little sub-menu, at the top of this list you'll see Audio Outputs, which will show the stereo channels for that particular track. As you've changed the number of Audio Outputs in the Sequence Settings, the list will show: 1&2, 3&4, 5&6. You just tick whichever channels you want.
In your case, you have dialogue on the first 4 tracks, no problem, just go down through tracks 1,2,3 and 4 as described above and assign these to Audio Outputs 1&2.
Then just go down through your music and effects audio tracks and assign them accordingly.
Now, when you export your timeline as a self-contained media file, it will have different audio channels.
I hope that makes sense. When you change the number of audio outputs as described in the first step, I believe the rest of it is fairly self explanatory, once you know where the settings are.

  • NO audio from laptop speaker when phone connected to Bluetooth with media audio checked

Hey guys, when I connect my Verizon Samsung Galaxy SIII (SGS3) phone through my Toshiba Qosmio x875-Q7280 Windows 7 X64 Bluetooth with media audio checked on my SGS3; for what ever reason there is no audio playing through the speaker when I try to listen to my music and for what ever reason I notice in the recoding tab under Sound my SGS3 profile mic audio bar was moving up and down. When I went in to configure it, I click a check box which played the music that I was playing through the laptop speaker but it sounded all muffled. If anyone can help would very much appreciate it.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Just wanted to update just incase someone else is have this same problem also, so I manage to solve this on my own my installing a bluetooth driver from Intel. I'm not sure if link posting is allow, so I'll just direct you there. If you google Intel and navigate to their download center, search for Intel® PROSet/Wireless Bluetooth Software for Windows 7* it should have two choice 32 bit and 64 bit. After it finish installing there should be another bluetooth icon in your bottom right tray. Next right click the bluetooth icon and add a new device as you would any other and enable media audio from your connected device (in this case it would be my Samsung Galaxy S 3) and you should be good to go with music or what ever sound coming out through the laptop speaker.

  • Export to tape with two separate audio channels

This is probably an obvious one, but I'm having a lot of trouble with it. How do I export to tape making two separate audio channels that can be pulled out separately; not mixed, in other words? I can print to tape, but of course that mixes the audio channels so they're inseperable. I am having trouble with the edit to tape feature, in that, for some reason I can't do insert editing.
My real question is about the separating of the tracks, though. If anyone can help me with that, I will be extremely grateful.
    Thanks.

How do I export to tape making

Are you sure that your audio channels are seperate on the timeline. You may have the tracks mono and don't realize it. For example you might have voice on channel one and music on two and three. You may need to pan the tracks right and left accordingly.

  • Work flow for syncing separate Audio files with Video files in FCP

It may be too late for me to use this workflow that I want with my current project, but I need to figure out what it is anyway for future reference.
Right now I'm editing a movie which is near completion. When we recorded the movie, the camera's deck recorded reference audio from the sound guy at 48k @ 16bit. This audio also went through an additional set of preamps which added a small amount of noise. So we don't want to use the reference audio because of it's low resolution and less clean audio. The sound guy recorded straight to his deck at 48k @ 24bit, besides the better resolution, his audio is noticeably better.
The camera deck and 'clapper' (I think that's what you call it) were not connected or synced. So the video files and the soundsguy's audio files are slightly different lengths, but at least have a 'clap sound' to manually sync to. And I don't mean that the audio and video files won't play in sync with each other, I mean that the soundguy always started recording before the camera, so his audio files have slightly different start and stop times.
Could I have synced the audio files with the video files before I started editing this project? If so, could it have been in the way that the soundguy's audio would be connected to my video files while editing? What would that procedure have been?
My current workflow right now is I have my finished sequence, I change the bit rate to 24 in Sequence Settings, and start manually dragging the soundguy's files to the sequence for every little edited clip. This is going to take forever, there are 99 scenes in this movie. Anyway, at the end of the day these sequences are exported as .omf files and imported into Pro Tools for audio post production.
I was not thinking to figure this out before I started editing the movie, this is unfortunate, a newb move in a decent production.
Anyway, I don't know if there is a standard for this situation or if I just opened up a can of worms for many possible workflows. Please comment if you have experience in this area or please refer me to any reading material.
    Thanks for your time!
    -Monty

The normal workflow (besides manually syncing up before editing!)
is to have ' some ' way of auto syncing the clips.
So you must have common timecode.
With external audio, you can slave the cam's TC to the TC output of the BWF recorder.
Then you can use BWF / QT merge (one of my apps) to sync them, or use Sync 'n Link.
    (another third party application)
If it is not possible cause you're shooting with a cam without a TC input, you can record the TC output on one of the audio tracks of your cam, and use FCPauxTC reader to decode the beeps and translate that to QT TC, and again use the former tricks to sync them.
It is difficult when you have never done it, but very easy once you get the hang of it, and it saves a huge amount of time to do it right from the start.
Have a look at the FCP aux TC reader here:

Sync 'n Link can be found here:

  • Should I add separate audio card to use with Audition & Premiere

Should I add a separate audio card? I am using a production premium and for now I using the on board sound card which is a 5.1 Realtek.  First I am no pro but do like editing events etc. Is there advantage dis-advantage?  Also will be using Audition.   If it is better to get audio card which one?

Many on-board audio chips are very good, so long as their driver support is also very good. If not, then ASIO4All is often a viable option.
Separate audio cards, and devices might offer advantages to some users, but all are not trouble-free. I would test extensively your Realtek chip, and see how things go. If you have any issues (PrPro and Audition), then consider and test the free ASIO4All driver. If you are still coming up short, then perhaps something from M-Audio, or similar, would be a good investment - but only if your Realtek chip does not do the job for you.
Just my observations from my personal experiences.
    Good luck,

  • IPad 1 HDMI video mirroring audio

    Hi All,
I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to mirror video with the HDMI AV cable available for the ipad 2.
For a coming conference I made a workflow for the iPad 2 but now it seems the iPad 2 won't be available on that day.
So is it possible to replace it with an iPad 1? I only need to show some video's but I have to be sure that the audio is coming along through the HDMI.
    Thanks in advance!
    regards

DVI does not transmit audio. You need a separate audio cable plugged into the speaker/headphone port.

  • Hi there, can anyone tell me how to make make Garageband ignore HDMI as an audio output-device on a 2013 Mac Mini? Now it keeps on prompting me: Do you want want to use the HDMI device (monitor without audio) for audio output? Thanks in advance, Grtz T.

    Hi there,
Can anyone tell me how to make make Garageband ignore HDMI as an audio output-device on a 2013 Mac mini i7 using an Apogee jam as an input for bass and a Behringer USB DAC with RCA audio output? Now it keeps on prompting me: Do you want want to use the HDMI device (monitor without audio) for audio output? I'm also suffering massive audio lag issues with the Apogee jam after waking the mini from sleepmode, wich pretty much renders it useless.
    Thanks in advance,
    Grtz T.

I think the easiest way to do this is to have the EyeTV app running in one user account and sent via HDMI to the TV, and use a separate user account for Screen Sharing. Both logins can be active at the same time and with Lion you can connect via screen sharing to which ever login you need.
With regards to the Mac video resolution changing, when it is not the current input on your AV receiver. This is 'normal', if the Mac sees no signal it drops down the a lower level. What you need is to buy a HDMI Detective Plus which tricks the Mac in to always seeing a signal and hence it will not drop down the resolution. See http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=8005
The Mac mini does have an IR receiver. This can be used with the EyeTV app, iTunes, and similar. Yes I believe EyeTV would run for prolonged periods quite happily, it is has been around for a long time and had most of the rough edges polished off. However one issue you will have to deal with is that it does not automatically update its program guide data. For this you might have to write or modify an AppleScript. Elgato support or their user forums will be a lot of help.
You can set EyeTV to convert recordings to an iTunes (Apple TV) compatible format and then delete them from EyeTV.
The HDMI Detective should solve your handshaking problems.

  • Issues with TV audio

So I have been trying forever to get my macbook pro (from 2009) to connect to my TV (Memorex) forever. I have the adapter to connect video via HDMI, but get no sound. I understand that my model doesn't support sound through HDMI (correct?). I was told that I just needed the cable that has the neadphone jack on one end and the red/yellow RCA on the other to make this work, but I think I was lied to because it is not working. The audio only comes through when I set it to the video input (ironic, no?) and the video when I set it to HDMI. Is there something I'm missing, because I really don't understand that much about all these cables and I'm tired of the cables people tell me to get not working! (Sorry, I needed to vent a little.)
    HELP ME!!!
    Pretty please...

Some TVs have an input which allows a separate audio corresponding to an HDMI port. Many do not. So you'll need to check your TV. It's usually quite clear on the labeling by the port/s. If not, check your TV's manual.
If you cannot input audio to a separate input that goes with an HDMI port, you can run the audio to/through a surround system if you have one hooked up.
Or, you can get an adapter such as this, which combines audio and video into HDMI and you should be able to plug this into your TV and be good to go: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/CBLMDPHDMID/
The other option I can think of: your TV may have a DVI+audio or VGA+audio input; you'd need to get a video adapter from your MBP to DVI or VGA.
