Lightning-to-VGA firmware error?
I had one of our iPads connected to a projector (via the Apple Lightning-to-VGA adapter) for a presentation and 5 minutes in, the mirrored video feed started to freeze up (audio was fine) and eventually froze and crapped out. As this happened, an alert dialoge appeared on the iPads saying something along the lines of "Adapter firmware is updating. The adapter will be unavailble until the update is complete." I've never seen this (nor heard of it) before and wondering if anyone else has seen this happen? Thing is, there was no "progress" indicator and the adapter just stopped working (and hasn't worked since). Tried various cable swaps, different devices, etc. and all work fine with our other Lightning-to-VGA adapters, so it's defintely the adapter itself.
Like I said, I've never seen this before and haven't really been able to find much info at all on the firmware for these adapters, let alone how to fix (what I can only assume is) a faulty firmware upgrade on them?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kristin.
I have a similar problem to blueskoi. I have a lightning to HDMI Connector which no longer works on my iPad Air, however it still works fine on my wife's iPad 4.
The only difference I can find is that her iPad hasn't been updated to IOS 8.3, whereas my iPad Air has.
Is anybody else experiencing the same problem, or am I missing something?
I have done a full settings reset on my Air but that didn't resolve it. I get the blue bar at the top of the screen and my TV Screen flashes, but then no signal appears,
Any help would be most gratefully received.

Lightning to VGA adapter doesn't work with Ipad Air
I have a Lightning to VGA adapter that I want to use with my Ipad Air and pc screen. When I connect it with my Ipad and the screen, on my ipad the blue bar appears but I don't get anything on my pc screen. I dit the same with my iphone 6 and that works perfect. Any idea what the problem could be?
Both devices has IOS 8.3.

Lightning to VGA Adapter not working with certain apps
I've recently noticed that I can't watch movies on Netlix any more with my Lightning to VGA Adapter going to an LCD monitor. It works just fine with other apps just not Netflix. Apple says it is a Netflix app problem, and Netlix doesn't want to admit it's anything wrong with their app. Any one else have this problem? Is there a solution?

Lightning to vga adapter not working after ios 7 update
After I installed ios 7 on my iphone and ipad, lightning to vga adapter A1439 stopped working on both machines. I thought that the first update would solve this problem. However, I recently installed 7.0.3 update but both machines still can not see the adapter. I tried adapter on different ios 6 machines and it works just fine.
Will there be an update for this issue? Did you have the same problem?lightning to 30 pin adapter vga

I have an iPad 4 with an Apple lightning to vga adapter. (A1439)
It connects fine to my HDTV and projector for doing presentations and video etc.
But if I do show any video on it, e.g. full screen a video from within Chrome, Safari, the apps for Youtube etc.
or if I do a presentation using Keynote, it locks into working as an extended second screen.
It shows the controls for the video on the iPad and the video on the external screen, which is what I would expect. But then if I exit the video or complete the presentation, the external screen continues to show the last frame of the video or presentation. Even if I close the app.
I can't get back to using it in mirroring mode without shutting it down and restarting.
Surely I am just missing something.
I've tried force closing the apps that I use, switching between them, starting up new ones etc.
But no luck.
There doesn't seem to be a setting anywhere that I can change.
Any suggestions? The same thing happened to me. After the big update, I also experienced exactly what you described. I ended up restoring the ipad a number of times.
The first few times, I restored from a back-up. The last few times I have restored the ipad as new. It would work the next few times I turned the machine on, and around the third time, it would lapse back into the recovery mode, with
the image of the serial cord connecting to an i-tunes logo on its desktop. This morning, I restored the ipad as new, but only allowed the apps manufactured by Apple to be synced back onto the ipad. I have powered it back on about three times, and so far, so good. I am waiting to see what happens the next few times I turn the machine on.
I had a very helpful senior Apple express advisor help me on Sunday to do the restore as a new ipad procedure. He said that if that did not work, the next step was having it serviced. He also mentioned that often the third party apps have problems due to getting corrupt and this often happens after a major update. That is why I thought i'd try and see what would happen if I only synced the Apple apps back onto the ipad.
It is not good though if I can't put third party applications on it without having the problem of lapsing into recovery mode, so I may have to get it serviced. I am wondering how many others have had this problem after the big update last week? Also, has anyone who was an early purchaser and got the flat-rate unlimited data plan subscription from AT&T, had to have their ipad replaced? Was there a problem with AT& T still allowing you to continue your special subscription plan? -
I was offerered ios5 on my perfectly working iPAD yesterday - it failed and left the iPAD unusable
Failure occurs during the restoring: iPAD firmware - error is 1 unknown (log below), I'm using iTunes on Windows 7 and have tried iTunes on Vista - don't have a Mac to try.
Tried all suggestions on Apple support pages and completely different PC, sometimes get some USB errors but log below is most common issue.
Any suggestions - iPAD is now useless as stuck in recovery mode.

I did have a conversation with Apple support a couple of days agao, in line with many others I was given various reasons why things oustide the Apple environment might be the root cause such as
- ports blocked on the network I was using (although when I asked which ones they weren't certain - "80 and 442 we think" was the response
- a fault on the iPAD
- slow network connection
The more interesting part of teh conversation was Apple was that the firmware update part of the install actually involves quite a lot of interaction with apple servers. My conclusion would be that the well documented performance problems in the early days after ios5 release were the root cause of my problem - reference to network ports. iPAD faults were just a smokescreen.
My key learning - don't upgrade soon after a major release, I already knew this but when offered an update I didn't go back and check precisley when it had been released so I should have paid more attention :-) -
Can I connect my iPad mini to a data projector using a lightning to 30-pin adapter connected to a 30-pin to VGA connector? Or will this only work with a lightning to VGA connector?
The lightning to 30 pin adapter does not support video as per the item description in the Apple online store:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD823ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter
This adapter lets you connect devices with a Lightning connector to many of your 30-pin accessories.* Supports analog audio output, USB audio, as well as syncing and charging. Video output not supported.
You will need to the Lightning to VGA adapter directly
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD825ZM/A/lightning-to-vga-adapter?fnode=3a
Or the Lightning Digital AV Adapter
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter
If the projector supports HDMI input. -
Lightning to VGA cannot mirror display on TV
I bought the lightning to VGA adaptor, and it worked perfectly well mirroring my iPhone 5c display on a TV monitor. But now it stopped working all of sudden. Anyone encountered or solved this problem?
Called Apple Support and they solved my issue.
1) Restart the computer in Safe Mode with display attached (shut down and restart while holding down shift key).
The display showed up without distortion.
2) Change the display to my desired preferences (dimensions and refresh rate).
3) Restart computer. ...and it works like a charm.

hI I have a iPad mini (first) running ios8. I'm looking for a way to mirror my iPad to a old monitor, so a came a cross the "lightning to vga" adapter device. The problem is that vga doesn't carry sound but if I have the lightning to vga adapter could I use the 3.5mm headphone jack attached to speakers to get audio?
could i also use a "Logitech Bluetooth adapter" connected to speakers and use the vga adapter?
Many thanks -
Pioneer AVH-X3600DAB and Apple lightning to VGA adapter.
Hi I have a Pioneer AVH-X3600DAB and all the relevant cables to connect my iPhone 5 including an Apple lightning to VGA adapter. Why is the Pioneer telling me the "USB is not Compatable"?
Hi gilespharrison
You need to set the ipod mode from iPod Via Usb to iPod via Bluetooth.
To do this you need to do the following.
Turn off bluetooth on your device.
Disconnect all the cables to the device.
Go into the settings on the X3600DAB then scroll down till you see the iPod connection mode click on the iPod via usb then on the next page do the same thing again it should now change to iPod via Bluetooth.
Just a FYI regarding App radio it doesnt work very well at all very buggy I think you might have better luck with and android device and the Mirror box.
Good Luck.
Let me know if you end up getting Pandora to work correctly. -

Just got a replacement mini back. Previous one stopped adding music after 3 months and said firmware error. Hooked this new one up. Went to 2005-06-26 and hit restore to convert the mini over to PC format. Update gives me "Firmware update failure. Disk write error" and mini is now at Folder! Tried reset with the hold-menu-select method and it lets me try to restore again, but gives the same old error when I do. DOn't even have the plastic off this one. Is it a return to Apple?
No, Not Yet David.

Firmware Error, help please?
Well... I bought my mini in July. It was working fine until the other day when I connected it to the computer to update the songs. It suddenly had the folder and sad ipod error. I tried to restore it and it had the error, "Firmware error, cannot write to disk." I tried putting it in Disk Mode, it worked but I still can't update it. I can't start it either, I'm not sure if I should send it in or not.
Apparently, it sounds like there's a problem with your iPod's hard disk; honestly, I don't think there's anything at home you can do about it.
Send it in.
