Lightroom 1.1 and canon 5d mark 11

lightroom 1.1 wont import files from my new canon 5d mark 11 - it tells me it does not support the colour? anyone know where can I find the plug-ins?

You don't need plug-ins for this. You have to upgrade to Lightroom 2.3. This will require a $99 upgrade fee. To access you file for free, you need to convert them to DNG with the free DNG Converter (at least version 5.2).

  • Is there Camera RAW support for Lightroom 4.4 and Canon 7D Mark ii?

I need Camera RAW support for Lightroom 4.4 and Canon 7D Mark ii.  Is there a Camera RAW version for me?

Thanks for your help.  I checked out DNG on YouTube and understand more
about it.  I downloaded the DNG converter and transferred in files from my
camera.  Then I imported into Lightroom.  It works!   Thanks again.

If you go to Photoshop>About Plug-in and click on the words Camera Raw, what version does it list?
I suspect you still have Camera Raw 7.0
When you go to Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6, it says nothing available?

  • IPhoto '08 7.1.5 and Canon 5D Mark II

Hi -- iPhoto doesn't seem to be able to read the raw CR2 files from my canon 5D mark II ... Do I have to update something in iPhoto? I believe I am already at the latest version. Thanks for your help.

If you use Photoshop to edit the RAW file then yes, you'll have to save the edit as a new file and import into iPhoto.
If you use Photoshop to edit the jpg version of the photo that iPhoto creates when it imports a RAW file you will not have to save to the desktop and import as new file. Just follow the directions below in that case:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 and Canon 5D Mark II raw files

Does the newest Elements now open the Canon 5D Mark II raw files?  I called their customer service number and the women I talked to seemed uncertain about it. I have CS5 at home, and of course, there is no problem opening those files. But at work, they only have Elements and the past versions wouldn't open these files.  Hoping the new version will.  THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT.

Yes photoshop elements 9 will open them.
Depending on which photoshop elements versions you have at work,
you may just have to update the camera raw plugin to open those files.

  • Final Cut PRo and Canon 5d Mark II Help Please

Hey guys working with HD video I shot with the Canon 5D Mark II. In playback on the time line the video appears jumpy and sticks at transition point between two clips. However when I output to a movie everything is fine. Just annoying in the editing process. Thanks

    Ray:
That cam I believe shoot h.264 video. That is a delivery format, not an editing format.
It needs to be converted to an HD editing format.
Try pro res or pro res HQ. Open the clips in the QT Pro player and export, or use Compressor.

  • PS5 will not open camera raw pictures...all made with Canon 5D Mark III and Canon 5D Mark II

PS5 will not open Camera Raw Pictures made with Canon 5D Mark III

What version of camera raw do you have?  You should have at least 6.7 for PS to open Canon 5D Mark III raw images.

  • Lightroom 4.1 RC and Canon 5d Mark III Cropping Info/ratio bug

Today I imported RAW images I shot on the Canon 5d3 with the camera set to Add Cropping Information set to 4:5 ratio.  Crop lines are displayed on the camera LCD but you see the full frame outside of the crop when review files.  Alarmingly, when I imported them to LR 4.1 RC, the images appeared cropped to 4:5.  I though ok, I'll just go to the crop tool and I will see that a crop has been applied and I'll remove it. Unfortunately, there was no file beyond the crop lines, it could not be removed as far as I could tell.  I called Canon and they told me to try Digital Photo Professional, a program that I never pay attention to.  Sure enough, the images were intact when viewed there.  There appears to be a bug when LR 4.1 RC encounters the crop tag on the raw file.  I have posted this on the Adobe Forums. I am running OS X 10.6.8 on a Mac Pro.

I got 'caught' by this feature today.
I used my new 5D3 in the same way I normally use my 7D which is to turn on the aspect ratio 'display' on live view so that I can frame my image for alternate format (ie. 1x1). The 'choice' is made in post-processing. On the 7D, RAW files imported with this setting are FULL size. On the 5D3 the RAW files have the aspect ratio applied and it cannot be 'removed'.
This is contrary to the 5D3 manual which says JPEG are saved with the crop but RAW are saved full size. In fact, viewing the RAW file with the Preview.app shows the full size so this is in fact a 'feature' implemented by Lightroom to 'bake in' the aspect ratio set/used in camera.
In Canon Digital Photo Professional the aspect ratio is 'applied' in the default view but can be easily removed. However, changing this on the RAW file doesn't cause Lightroom to 'detect' the file modified outside LR and allow you to apply the changes making the full frame image available in LR4. The ONLY way I could get the full version into LR4 was to export as TIFF with DPP and then import the TIFF in LR4.
I don't 'normally' use TIFF files at the beginning of my workflow although sometimes they end up in LR4 after roundtripping to Photoshop and/or other plugins that require a TIFF file.
This is NOT ideal and should be changed to make the behavior consistent with other Canon bodies and CR2 files and/or with DPP. I personally like the idea to 'display' the image with the aspect ratio on import but ALLOW you to back it out giving the full frame image if you wish. The added benefit is that you get access to the RAW data beyond your original crop that can be used for cloning into the desired crop/aspect ratio.
Please implement this modification in the next update of LR4.
    Thanks

  • OSX 10.10 and Canon 7D Mark II and Camera Raw

Anyone having any luck opening camera raw files using Lightroom 5 or Photoshop CS6 from Canon's 7D Mark II camera? Digital Photo Professional software also not available. I tried downloading the Maverick version but it didn't work.
    Any suggestions?
Any news about when camera raw update will release for this camera?

Jim, I understand that when people jump on new technology there are hiccups in the process. My reason for asking questions on this "community" forum was to hopefully find someone that might have some information about how to make RAW images work with this new Canon camera and new OS from Apple, etc. Others are publishing raw images and know how to access the updated software or have work arounds. That's all I'm looking for!
You, on ther other hand, seem annoyed by my questions and have no problem putting me in my place on this "help" forum. It would be nice if I knew as much as you but then that's why dummies like me ask questions from experts like you. Be patient and just ignore dumb questions! Please pocket your sacarsm. I'm old and I'm stupid. I'm just loking for some advise.
Quote Jim Hess: "In September 2014 I was given a small reward from Adobe for my contributions to the Adobe community forums." Congratulations!

Under all other conditions the iMac so far has been without problems. Is this aproblem in the video driver?

  • Camera Raw and Mac 10.5.6, CS3 and Canon 5D Mark II

Just got the 5D Mark II and have CS3 installed (Mac OS). Is there an update for Camera Raw - Photoshop cannot read the files

    Gordon,
Jeff just gave you the solution. You must first convert your raw files to DNG files with the latest version of the DNG Converter, 5.2.
Then you can open those DNG files with ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) 4.6 hosted by CS3.
You will never be able to open your Canon raw files from that camera directly in CS3. CS3 is not shipping anymore, so there will be no updates for it, ever. You will have to convert your files every time you shoot with that camera, until you upgrade to CS4.
However, Adobe Camera Raw 5.2 is soooooo far ahead of ACR 4.x, that upgrading to CS4 just to use ACR 5.2 is a no-brainer. I upgraded on that basis alone myself.
    If you do upgrade,
    this book
is highly recommended reading for you.

  • Lightroom v1.2 and canon raw

I am a new user of lightroom have had it for only a week, have just purchased a 40D imported my first lot of raw files without any problems. Removed images from Cf card and took more photos went to import them into lightroom and all that happens is I get a message "no photos were found to import". I have read that canon raw was not supported in lightroom or has this been rectified in v1.2 as it did import the first batch of photos.
Can some one enlighten me on what may have occurred.
    thank you Peter

Peter, You may have selected "Auto reset" in the "File numbering" item of the camera's set-up menu, in which case it will start numbering the images from 1 again after re-inserting the CF card. When importing the next time into LR it will see the same file names and tell you that it does not find any new photos to import. This process is determined by file name only in LR and it will import the same file name of different formats having the same prefix, like when you shoot RAW + JPG and have _MG_0123.CR2 and _MG_0123.JPG.

  • Element 10 and Canon 5D Mark III RAW file

My Element 10 can read my Canon 40D RAW files but not the 5D Mark III ones. I downloaded Element Camera RAW update 6.7 and updated Adobe App Manager but could not install the former. An error message indicates that this extension does not apply. Any idea how to address this issue? Thanks.

    Hi Sumit,
Indeed, according to Adobe download assistant, Element 10 with Camera RAW 6.7 update should work.
The error message is "Echec de la mise à jour" (in French) which means Update Failure. Reason given is "this update does not apply to your case".
    Thanks for your assistance,
    Raw
