Lightroom  2.0 beta cs3 to lightroom

When I move a lightroom file to cs3, then edit it, then try to move it back in Tiff by using "save", nothing goes back to Lightroom. Any suggestions?

Have you read the Beta release notes? http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom/lightroom2_b1_releasenotes.pdf
There is a known issue about editing in CS.

Love the live animation preview feature. One suggestion would be, when more images are selected in content than can be displayed on one page in preview section, to have a scroll bar appear so as to browse through them all. How about those hide arrows used in Lightroom to quickly hide panels instantly. Lastly, some means to instruct the preview panel to display images with equal height allowing a double page to displayed equal size.

    OK, Thanks.
What I am looking for is something smaller than PSCS3 to install on my laptop for use on trips. Probably will do minimal image tweaking, but I want all keywording to be usable in the other applications. It sounds like they will be. I guess the only way to really find out is to spring for a copy and install it. Oh well, what's $200? (grin)

  • Lightroom Crash on Import with CS3 installed

The last two days, I have been importing fairly large shoots from CF cards with Lightroom (Yesterday 147, today 79). In both cases I have received the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has encountered a problem and needs to close.." message; twice today. I installed Photoshop CS3 Release yesterday and now I have Bridge trying to import the same set of photos. I noticed the Bridge import dialog today after LR crashed. By sending off the debug message and restarting LR I can finish the import eventualy. It shouldn't be this way and wasn't before I installed release CS3 (I had had LR and Beta CS3 on my machine with none of these problems.

    Hi Holley,
Just back from a long weekend, hence the delay in replying..apologies.
Since I have now fixed the problem, I cant remember exactly how I sorted it, because I just stumbled through the various menus until I found the right solution! But, heres what I think I did:
    Open TweakUI.
Open the drop down menu next to My Computer.
    Click on Handlers.
In the window next to the menu, highlight Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer.
    Click Edit.
Tick whichever boxes/tasks you would like to add to this folder. Obviously, the last one, Digital Images, will be one of them!
    Click OK.
    Thats it!
Note: There is no option to Take no Action. Once you have added any of the menu items, this option is added automatically by TweakUI.
Now, when you put a card in your card reader, the window should open with the option, Open folder to view files.
If this isnt working, reply and Ill try again.
    HTH.

  • Cannot Install FW CS3 or CS4 beta

I have owned fireworks since version 4.
Used MX, great... i can still install on Dual Core MacBook
Pro running 10.5... but it crashes on some stuff.
I installed CS2 Creative suite and that worked great.
Problems started when I installed FW 9 Beta (cs3)... I
couldn't use any old FW anymore.
SO I did the Clean Uninstall script (yes level 4 until all
    was gone).
I can install CS3 Design suite but I need Fireworks MX or 9
to run to fix this FW file (photoshop flattens all the layers so I
cannot get to the layer I need to edit).
Any suggestions? I don't know why FW wont install at ALL. If
I get the CD shipped, its going to have the same problem as the
ones Downloaded off of the Adobe site.
Any help is great. I'm trying to avoid a clean wipe and
    reformatting my HD.
    Thanks.

Joelmeyers I reviewed your install log and was not able to find any particular errors related to your installation issue either.  I would recommend following the steps listed in Troubleshoot installation problems (Adobe Creative Suite 3.x on Windows XP) - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-installation-problems-creative-suite -7.html.  Also I would recommend you start with creating a new local administrator account and trying the installation there.  Your initial issue appears to be permission related and it is possible your current user account is compromised.

  • Photoshop CS3 Codec error

When I import the Beta Photoshop CS3 files into FCP 5.12 on a PPC Dual or Quad G5, I get the Codec Error, "Codec not found. you may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card." Is there something I am missing with the beta CS3, has anyone else had this issue? If not, what do you think this could be, does it have to deal with RGB or the file type? Any thoughts appreciated?
    Thanks
PowerMac G5 2.7 Ghz,   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   AJA KONA & IO, FInal Cut Studio 5.1, Edirol Edir4

    Hi.
Not sure - you way are ahead of my pack using CS3 already.
But you probably can do a save as from Photoshop and tweak the file type (such as a TIFF) and the other particulars available at that point.

  • Photoshop CS3 Font Size

OK, I've searched the knowledgebase, scanned this forum, did a Google, etc...
When I try to enter type on a Photoshop CS3 doc, the text is humongous. If I set the font size down to 6pt it still is over 200 pixels high. Anything over 20pt is taller than my monitor.
I never installed the beta CS3, did have CS2 prior to upgrading.
    It used to work fine.
    Any ideas?
    PS CS3 10.0.1
    Vista
    3 gb memory

I stumbled into the cause. Something is resetting my image resolution to 2822.222. If I create a new document, it defaults to Clipboard at 2822.222 instead of Web or Photo at 72.
How do I reset the default? I change it, open a new document, save it and the New document goes back to Clipboard.
In preferences I have 300 for Print, 72 for Screen set as default.

  • Lightroom, Photoshop, PS CS3 beta

I used to cleaner to remove Photoshop CS3 beta after inadvertedly deleting by dragging. The licensed version of PS CS3 is installed but apparently there are a couple of bits and pieces of the beta still around because when I click on Develop>Photo>Edit in Photoshop CS3.app it brings up the beta screen. Is there any way to change the location of this menu item manually? In other words, can I select the true app somehow?
    Thanks

If I recall correctly, Adobe has made available an uninstaller for the beta that is required to get rid of it correctly. You might go over to the Photoshop forum and look around. I'm not sure what to do in your situation where you deleted incorrectly. But that forum may have hints as to what to do.

  • Camera RAW 431 won't work on my Vista 64 machine.

    Vista 64
    CS3
Camera RAW 431 won't work on my Vista 64 machine. I keep getting the error that it's the wrong file type when trying to open the RAW file, and I get no thumbnails. I've deleted all cache files manually--not using the Adobe help because their wrong about their file locations, that's for Windows XP and not Vista. (You can't access "Documents and Settings" in Vista, and there is no:
    Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
    Vista:Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
I even uninstalled the entire CS3 Suite and reinstalled it. It still won't work. In fact, I can't even use the old raw plugin file anymore--it now won't open RAW files either.
Anyway, I just need a confirmation that Camera RAW 431 actually works in Vista 64, since the directions do not in the least relate to Vista 64, but, rather, Windows XP, and the method used to get RAW 431 to work in Vista 64.
    Thanks

    Zippy,
"C:\Program Files (x86)\" is the location of 32-bit apps (like Photoshop CS3) in 64-bit Vista. It is known as simply "C:\Program Files\" in all 32-bit editions of Windows. Since the vast majority of Windows/Photoshop users are likely still on a 32-bit platform, it is understandable why the instructions omit the 64-bit specific folder path.
The VirtualStore copy indicates that at some point, you (or Photoshop) attempted a programmatic update of the file, and it attempted to write into the restricted Common Files folder. Vista redirected that to the VirtualStore folder instead. On my 64-bit Vista install, I have no Adobe files in there at all... this is likely due to my insistence on manual updates.
    I would try this:
    1. Backup all your personal Photoshop files (actions, palettes, window positions, keyboard shortcuts, brushes, etc.).
    2. Uninstall Photoshop CS3 as best you can.
    3. Manually delete all Photoshop-related folders inside the VirtualStore. You may have to look inside both the virtualised "Program Files (x86)\Common Files" and "Program Files (x86)\Adobe" folders.
    4. Run the WinCS3Clean script to ensure there are no problematic bits left over from your beta CS3 install. I'm hoping your manual excursion through the Windows registry did not hurt more than it helped.
    5. Reinstall CS3 and manually update the "Camera Raw.8bi" plugin. I put mine in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats\".
Depending on how your OS is configured, it may be easier if you login as Administrator first. Photoshop CS3, Bridge 2.1, ACR 4.4 (and all previous versions) and Lightroom 1.4 (and all previous versions) work as expected on my 64-bit Vista machine here, so this is not a general compatibility issue.

  • Camera Raw Modifications Won't Reset

Can any one shed light on this?
I opened an image in Camera Raw, played with perspective and selected Open Image ie. in Photoshop.  I played so more and closed without Saving.  However, when I returned to Bridge, the wonky perspective modifications made in Camera Raw are still being reflected in the thumbnail.  I reopened the image in Camera Raw, attempted to RESET, but it wouldn't.  I had to manually reset the values to 0.  Oddly, when I opened Lightroom, that same image was displayed in it's original form.
Any suggestions as to why it retains the modifications AND why RESET doesn't?
BTW, I'm using Windows 7 with most current CC14
    Thanks.
    Miguel

  • Select multiple groups of contiguous images in Grid view

In Windows, the following conventions should be followed when selecting images in the Library module or Filmstrip.
    1. select an image by left mouse click
    2. extend the contiguous selection by Shift+left mouse click on the last image in group
    3. add to the selection by Ctrl+left mouse click on an image
    4. add another contiguous selection by Shift+Ctrl+left mouse click on the last image in group.
In LR V1 on Windows XP Pro, only 1,2, and 3 work; but adding a second contiguous selection (point 4) does not work and behaves like point 3. More images can only be added to a selection by Ctrl+left mouse clicking each individual image (which quickly gets tiresome.)
Note that these conventions work in both Bridge CS2 and beta CS3.

    Second that!
Shift+Page Down to select next page down as well Ctl+Shift+End to select everything to the end of the grid would also be useful

  • Canon 5D Mark II, Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom 2.4

    All,
I know that this has to have been answered elsewhere, but I have not found what I'm looking for.
I have purchased a new Canon 5D Mark II camera which will arrive Wednesday.  As far as software on my Mac Pro, I have Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium, which includes (obviously) Photoshop CS3.  I am also running Lightroom 2.4.  I am under the understanding that in order to open RAW files from the 5D Mark II, you need to have Adobe Camera Raw 5.X, which is not supported by Photoshop CS3.  I also understand that Lightroom 2.4 CAN open the 5D Mark II RAW files.  First off, are both of my statements to this point accurate?  If so, can I use Lightroom to open the RAW files, do whatever adjusting I would like in Lightroom, then export the modified file (in TIFF, for example) to Photoshop CS3, and go on my way?  Or will this not work?
If the answer is no, what are my options for using the software that I have with my Canon 5D Mark II?  Am I REQUIRED, now, to upgrade to Photoshop CS4?  If so, can I buy the CS4 Upgrade for Design Premium, if my CS3 Design Premium is the Education version?
Thanks for any help on this...I'm hoping to avoid spending any more money than I need to in software just to be able to process images from my new camera.  I'm sure I could always use the Canon supplied software to open the RAW files, but I'd prefer to do so in the Adobe family of programs.

    cabasner,
I upgraded to CS4 when I got my 5D2, and I can't stress enough how much better CS4 is. It's worth the upgrade even if you didn't get the 5D2. It's more stable that CS3, and ACR is insanely better (as is the Bridge... that's actually usable now!). ACR in CS4 has Adjustment brushes for Exposure... that's right, touch-up areas in ACR and it's totally non-destructive. Vibrance has been added also. In PS, your Dodge & Burn tools have a totally new algorithm which works so much better it's nuts. You even have a Legacy checkbox to see the difference. With the insane amount of image data in the 5D2, those tools work very well. You also have OpenGL support in CS4 now, which means you can view the image at any percentage and it looks like 25/50/75/100. And since your graphics card is now used, Photoshop CS4 is FASTER. And with the Clone Tool you can see what will be put down on the image inside the tool's circle, BEFORE you press the mouse. Talk about an easy way to line up the edit! Oh, then there's all the Adjustment layers... man, talk about a non-destructive time-saving edit! And the panels now stay off to the side, not covering up the image anymore. There's more, I'm, not even remembering everything. Adobe got PS right with this version. I would spring for CS4 in a New York minute, it's the perfect partner for our 5D2s.

  • Camera raw and Photoshop CS3 from Lightroom

(2.5) If I open a raw image from Windows Explorer or Bridge (which I don't use much), Camera Raw 4.6 opens. It doesn't open if I Edit In Photoshop CS3 from Lightroom, but says "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 5.5 for full compatibility. Camera Raw version 4.6 is the latest version available for Photoshop CS3".
There are two choices: Render using Lightroom and Open Anyway. If I say the former, it doesn't use the file name, but does something like -2.tif.
I'm not sure what these two choices actually do.
Secondly, if things were working properly, would Lightroom actually open the Camera Raw window? If so, is there anything I can do short of upgrading PS to CS4?
    Thanks.

Just a little history of the profiles being displayed for your camera model. The camera calibration tab only displays the profiles that are specific to your camera and model. The earler profiles were named after the version of ACR that was in use when they were created.
    So.
ACR 4.2 the first profile created for your camera model when support was introduced.
ACR 4.4, Adobe created/ updated new profiles for most of the supported camera models with this release of ACR.
Adobe Standard Beta, updated profile when the Beta of ACR 5.0 and LR 2.0 were introduced.
Adobe Standard, Updated profile for the final release of ACR 5.0 and LR 2.0. This then is the latest profile created for your camera model. I think it should be the closest to your camera standard.
Adobe did not create any other camera matching profiles Vivid, Neutral etc other than for the more popular Nikon and Canon models.  I have an Olympus so I am in the same boat.

  • Adobe photoshop CS3 versus adobe photoshop lightroom 2.3

I already own adobe photoshop CS3. Is it worthwhile to get adobe photoshop lightroom 2.3? Is it easier to use?

You can check out some of the free Lightroom tutorial videos here
    http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/lightroom/articles/lir2am_videotutorials.html
to get a sense of how workflow goes in Lightroom, and what Lightroom can do. I also agree that taking the free trial is going to give you a better sense of whether Lightroom will meet your specific needs than any answers you'll get here.
Lightroom is considered to be more newbie friendly than Photoshop. All arts editing programs, as far as I'm concerned, if they're any good, have a learning curve to master the features, and Lightroom is no exception, but LR's learning curve does tend to be less steep than Photoshop's for many users.
Many forum members who do have extensive experience with both programs have posted here that they now do the great majority or all of their editing with at least most of their images in Lightroom. Photoshop still has things it can do that Lightroom cannot do or cannot do as well, so it's not uncommon for people to post here that with an image that needs something exceptional, they'll still go over to Photoshop and put in some heavy duty editing time there. Adobe has made bouncing back and forth between the two programs easy. But often with Lightroom, you can make an image quite good with just a minute or two of edits, once you quickly get the hang of the program, and it offers many advantages in organization of large blocks of images.

  • PS CS3 random errors with Lightroom folder when making contact sheets

When I make contact sheets in Photoshop CS3 of photo files in a folder of images exported from Lightrom Beta 2, it places some of the pictures randomly across the contact sheets, especially when I have more than 60 or more images. The first shot will always show at the end of the set of proofs 5 across, 6 rows down, but some images from the end of atake will end up scattered across the other sheets. If I make a set of contact sheets from images in a folder of the original images, not worked on in Lightroom, they come up perfectly. What can I do to fix this? I had it working OK in Lightroom Beta 1. I'm Working in PC XPSP3. A thousand thanks in advance. Cliff Moore

First, LR3 final has been released.
This doesn't seem to be a problem of LR, rather Photoshop.
Why don't you make the contact sheet in Lightroom?
Why do you think the order is incorrect. Did you check the file names? I guess the order depends on this.
