Lightroom 2.1 - 32-bit vs 64-bit performance tests

Hey all...I posted quite a while back about Lightroom 2.0's 64-bit performance issues. Anyway, I just posted some updated tests of Lightroom 2.1, running in both 32- and 64-bit modes; I was very pleasantly surprised by the great 64-bit performance. Here's the link:

From the release notes:

I am using Lightroom 5.7, 64 bit with Windows 7 Professional. For no apparent reason, I now get an error message when I export a photo, say a raw image to a JPG. However, the exported image seems to be OK. But now I notice that my LR directory of folders in Library view does not show images correctly: If there is a folder with sub-folder(s), the folder will indicate 0 images, but the sub-folders show the proper number of images. What happened and is there a fix? I tried uninstalling Lightroom and re-installing, but problem persists.

Well, the quick summary that you are not going to like: This system is pretty short on RAM and processor power, your graphics driver is outdated and you are using two screens with different resolutions, which eats up all graphics acceleration plus your card has only 256 MB of VRAM in the first place, which doesn't meet the requirements. You will never be able to use 3D under those conditions.

  • Lightroom 3.2-64 Bit. will not start -It said-opening Catalog:DSC0024.then shuts down

I have downloaded Lightroom 3.2-64 Bit . When i start the software it gives me the message" Lightroom-opening Catalog:DSC0024.JPG.Ircat"
Then a window opens and said " Adobe Photoshop lightroom 64-bit has stoped working. A problem caused this program to stoped working correctely. Windows will close the program and notifiy
you if a solution is available"
    I have a Windows 7 - 64bit
Any help getting Lightroom started would be appreciated.

Seems to be the following "classic" LR 3.x problem: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom_3_4_1_64_bit_doesnt_work
In short: You tried to create a new catalog with the name of an existing JPEG file ("DSC0024.JPG"). Perhaps you wantet to open/import that file and accidentally used the wrong command (create new catalog). Solution: 1) Rename the file. 2) Start LR, let it create the catalog in a folder named as the original file, 3) close LR, 4) delete the newly created folder containing the new catalog, 5) Start LR again - it will probably ask you for your catalog (select the catalog you are really working with). 6) Re-rename your JPEG file again.
Edit: P.S: LR 3.2 is a rather old version. The latest update for 3.x is 3.6 (free of charge), download it here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=113&platform=Windows (Note: This bug is not fixed in LR 3.6. It is fixed in LR 4).

  • Lightroom 4.2 64-bit does not start. How is 0xc000007b error resolved?

System is Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 build 6701, Intel Core 5-750, 8GB RAM.
Installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 then Premier Elements 11 64-bit then Lightroom 4.2 64-bit. Photoshop Elements, Organizer, Premier run just fine. Lightroom 4.2 refuses to start, stating The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application. Ran Raxco Perfect Registry to eliminate registry errors. Performed full scans w/Notron Internet Security, Spybot Search & Destroy, and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Removed any/all threats. Lr continues to repeat 0xc000007b issue. I'm running out of options. I want to run Lr 64-bit, not 32-bit. Any ideas please?

This has nothing to do with registry errors or any of that. It's simply a generic crash. As to what's the specific cause, noone can tell. Usually this is a missing system DLL or a flakey driver. Could of course also be a permissions issue where LR fails to load some components due to insufficient user privileges or your little tools blocking stuff. Norton is known to bury itself so deep in the system, it does more damge than good at times. Verify your device manager, turn off your security stuff, run as admin. And pick out the actual crash info from your system event viewer.

  • How can I install presets into Lightroom 4.4 64 bits?

How can I install presets into lightroom 4.4 64 bits?

Hard to know where the ball got dropped without details.
I suggest creating a new "test" preset in Lightroom, then make sure you can find it in OS (Finder/Explorer).
Wherever you found it - that's the folder your other presets should be in. If they are already in that folder, then the preset files are not copacetic somehow (e.g. not compatible type).
    they should end with .lrtemplate
    ~R.

  • My Lightroom 5.6 64 bit can't be opened

I have installed Lightroom 5.6 64-bit into my Window 7 Laptop. It couldn't be opened until now. I uninstalled and installed it again. My computer both times say 'The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000076). Click OK to close the application. What should I do? (I also installed Lightroom mobile and it works fine.)

    Hi Prettymermaid,
Please use the below link to download the DLL files.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/error-unable-start-correctly-0xc00007b/_jcr_content/ma in-pars/procedure/proc_par/step_0/step_par/download/file.res/Lightroom_64-Bit_DLLs.zip
Extract the files and then copy the mscvcr80.dll and mscvcr100.dll in the location C:\Windows\System32. If it gives you a prompt to replace the files please do so.
Navigate to the location C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.6 and launch Lightroom5.exe from there and check if you get the same error or not.
    Thanks

  • Why can't I get Lightroom to connect to the internet?  I've tested my internet connection and it is working.

How do I get Lightroom to connect to the internet?  I've tested my internet connection and I'm able to.

Sure, but if I have International League Pass shouldn't there be a way to tap into that? I mean, if I can watch it on my computer, why can't I conveniently watch it on the television sitting right next to it via Apple TV. Seems odd...

  • Application Manager v 7.0.0.23 installs Lightroom 4.3 64-bit in location other than specified

Hi I'm running Win 7 64-bit running all curent patches as of this writing.
I subscribe to Creative Cloud, and have used Adobe Application Manager to install all applications
In application manager I specified D:/Programs/Adobe/ as the installation path
My C drive is a comparatively small SSD drive that I run only Windows on and all applications are installed on D
Application manager installed Lightroom 4.3 in C:/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.3/
It also installed a common files folder in the C:/Program FIles/Adobe Folder
It also intalled an Adobe Folder that is about 1.5 Gigabytes in C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files (including Adobe application manger itself)
It also installed an Adobe folder and Adobe folder and an Adobe Media Player folder in C:/Program Files (x86)/
All together it looks as if Application Manager installed about 2.6 Gigabytes on my C drive
So, is there any way to reinstall so that Lightroom and these other files are written to the D drive and not the C drive?
Thank you for any help you can provide.

You can adjust the install location preferences in the Adobe Application Manager under preferences.  Please keep in mind though that there will still be common files installed to the C: drive even if you specify the main application gets installed on the D: drive.
You may want to consider purchasing an SSD with sufficient space to hold your operating system and applications.  By installing the applications to a non-SSD you are loosing the advantages of utilizing an SSD when using these applications.

  • Adobe Lightroom 7.2 64 bit installed but will not open error 0xc000007b

After 3 days of tryng to download and run the above I was finally able to get it on my machine today.  During the past 2 days I would get Lightroom downloaded but it would not install
as per the above error.  Today I copied the download URL into Safari and was able to download install and open that way only.  Now after closing Lightroom when I click on the desktop
icon I once more get the error message shown in the subject line above. I am running ELEMENTS 10,    PHOTOSHOP Cs6 64 BIT,     PEREFECT FFECTS 3,       PHOTOMATIX PRO 4.2.4     &
    TOPAZ MHT WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS.
MY SYSTEM IS WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM 64 BIT WITH 8.00GB RAM WITH INTEL 540 @ 3.07 GHz
THIS IS TO MUCH MONEY TO JUST THROW AWAY ON A DEAD PROGRAM.

Yeah well, that was a typo on my part, it's 4.2 you have to keep in mind
that it was about 2 or 3 when I posted that.
BTW, corrected problem, working fine now.

  • Lightroom 4 on Windows 7 32-bit, performance?

I'm using an HP 32-bit dual-core PC, Windows 7, 4 GB RAM. Yes, I know, I should upgrade to a 64-bit computer but it's just not in the cards right now. Lightroom 3.6 performs reasonably well, well enough for me at least. I tried the Lightroom 4 beta, and it was really quite sluggish. And, it might be my imagination, but it seemed to even affect Lightroom 3. When I removed the beta Lightroom 3 "seemed" to improve in performance.
I like the new version of Lightroom, but I'm seeing horror stories and am concerned about performance. All of my cameras have full support in Lightroom 3. I get satisfactory results. And none of my reading so far has sold me on switching to the new version. Yes, I know, the new process is far superior. But from my evaluation it is not so superior as to justify sluggish performance. Is anyone using Lightroom 4 on a computer with similar specs as mine? If so, what are your experiences. In the meantime, I will just "suffer" as I continue to use Lightroom 3.6.

    Judy,
Thanks for clarifying, and I'm inclined to agree with you: Your previous PV2010 workflow is invalid in PV2012, ruined if you will...
But at least you have acknowledged it, which is step 0. Accepting it is step 1...
Trying to map PV2010 skills 1-1 into PV2012 is a recipe for frustration.
PV2012 controls are quite unlike any other editor I've ever used (including Lightroom 3).
They have image-adaptability, and some intelligence: they don't always do the same thing all the time.
    So yes:
    1. Unlearn everything you know about PV2010.
    2. Learn PV2012.
    In a nutshell:
    For normal photos:
    * exposure sets midtone level, not highlight level (highlights will usually be too bright, initially, when exposure is set correctly).
    * contrast sets midtone separation
    * -highlights to keep highlights from being too bright.
    * +shadows to keep shadows from being too dim.
    * -blacks & +whites for full dynamic range.
    For unusual photos:
-whites to keep highlights from being too bright.
+blacks to keep shadows from being too dim.
    For all other photos:
    A combination of the above...
PS: positive highlights together with negative shadows is typically reserved for:
    * Unusual raw cases, when you want a flatter look (you want to suppress tonal detail / contrast), or
    * Tweaking already baked jpegs.
Same-signed highlights & shadows values usually means you have exposure set wrong.
    Cheers,
    Rob

  • Lightroom 5.4 64-bit crashes when switching to develop module (and during random other functions)

This seems to be a new issue that has developed over the past few days. I have been using Lightroom for multiple years without too many issues. Within the last 90 days I have upgraded to Lightroom 5. Today, upon loading up Lightroom (either 3.6 or 5.2) they both crash upon switching over to the develop module. I have upgraded 5.2 to 5.4, uninstalled 3.6, restarted my computer; still crashes with error message: "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Which upon clicking "Close Program" it simply closes the program. Any ideas as to why this is happening and a possible fix? Seeming this seems to have stopped around the 21st of May and its now the 9th of June, does this mean we just do nothing about it and hope and pray that one day Adobe, who are very quick to take our money every month, can resolve this ? Has there been a fix noted for this yet ?
