Lightroom 2.1 printer does respond mac

I get an error message (300)- printer does not respond - using Lightroom 2.1 on macbook pro os 10.4.11. Happens first time I try to print any image. I delete the request and then try again. It will work second time through. Never had this problem with Lightroom 1. Using Canon Pixma 6600.

I took the plunge and while I've only edited a small series of images - 2.1 RC appears to be usable - thank you, Adobe engineers. I haven't gone hunting bugs, but previously the bugs were hunting me. More like ambushing at every mouse click.
I wanted to quickly mention that this forum has some seriously trigger-happy Adobe defenders. I realize that there are annoying know nothings out there, that don't run well maintained systems and blame the first hiccup on Adobe, Apple, MS or whoever. But sometimes the code is bad. I was pretty unhappy after paying the upgrade and getting what I felt was a useless beta, but the sting in the tail was the pushback on the forum. I don't spend enough time here to know the regulars from the visitors, so maybe it's just the usual wacko brand loyalists dropping by.
Recap: 2 Macs running latest Leopard and LR1 with no probs. Loaned Adobe some $ so they could develop some software while I upgraded to LR2. Beachballs started raining down on me, I troubleshooted on one system, everything short of a system reinstall, LR2 still useless on both. Downgraded to LR 1.4 so I could deliver work to clients. After reading this thread I installed 2.1 RC and no more beachballs on both systems. I feel pretty comfortable on where to assign hiccup blame. I'm blaming myself too, for upgrading. Adobe isn't getting a dime from me for CS4 or LR3 unless Apple 'upgrades' me into it. Stability over features, ALWAYS.

  • Lightroom 3.6 printing issues on Mac computers

    Hi all,
I wanted to garner some feedback from others who have experienced the same issues I have when printing from LR on any Mac-based computer. I've observed these issues consistently on every Mac I've used Lightroom on, from OSX 10.5 to the newest 10.7. I will frame the two issues in relation to how LR behaves on a PC.
As you'll probably determine, these issues could be considered rather minor, but they hinder my specific workflow to a significant degree. I am using Lightroom at crowded events and printing on-the-spot via a dye-sub printer. In this environment, every second counts to keep people waiting for as short a time as possible.
    1. Upon submitting a print job on a Mac, Lightroom will become unresponsive for a solid four or five seconds (spinning beach ball and everything), preventing you from browsing through more photos until it finally snaps back in to action. On the PC, the print job is submitted practically instantaneously with no interruption in interactivity.
    2. When submitting a print job with several images selected, on a PC the printer will begin printing as soon as the first image in the batch is processed; in contrast, on the Mac, the entire batch has to finish processing before the print job commences. Obviously this is quite un-ideal if you want to print out, say, one copy of ten different photos at once. And going through the photos and printing one by one isn't an option either due to issue number 1.
I would assume these issues have something to do with print driver differences on OSX compared to Windows, but I've also experienced the same problems across two different brands of dye-sub printers, which rules out lousy drivers for one printer specifically.
Thank you for any feedback or suggestions!

P.S. If the above doesn't work, even after restarting Firefox:
You could try disabling the blocklist, which isn't normally recommended since it will remove ALL blocks, many of which are in place for security reasons. If you want to do this,
'''FIRST: '''Change the '''extensions.blocklist.enabled''' preference to '''false''' in about:config
    # In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The about:config "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.
    # (If necessary) Click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''', to continue to the about:config page.
    # Double-click on '''extensions.blocklist.enabled''' in the list of preferences to change its value to '''false'''.
'''NEXT:''' Quit Firefox, then open the [[Profiles|Firefox profile folder]] and remove the file '''blocklist.xml'''

  • My iPad says that it sent a page to my printer, but it doesn't print (but printer does respond to iPhone)

I have printed from the iPad before, but now when I try to print, it goes through the process of contacting the printer, says it sent the job to the printer, and then nothing. Meanwhile, if I do the same from my iPhone to same printer on same wireless network, no problem.

Same problem here,....but all solved now.  The answer was very helpful.  Thanks!   I also want to commend DSpurs for asking the question with complete and thorough detail.  Appropriately scoping the problem is half the battle.

  • Why does Acrobot Pro no longer deliver correctly PDF printed results under Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5 ?

    Hello!
When printing with Panther (Mac 10.3.9), my PDF printouts were always correct. Now, under Mac operating systems 10.4 and 10.5 the printouts from the ink jet printer are unusable – they are by at least 15% too dark, dark areas are slurred and oversaturated (all data RGB, CMYK)
    - when compared to the print preview in Acrobat, InDesign or Photoshop
    - compared to soft proof resp. print preview representing the ICC paper profile
    - compared to the output from Photoshop, i.e. by opening the PDF file in PS to be printed under the same parameters
    - compared to the PDF files which were printed under MAC 10.3.9  which are in line with the view on the screen and the printout made from the PDF opened under Photoshop
    - i.e. Under Panther printout work, as generally under Photoshop – even under 10.4 and 10.5. According to my information, it also works under Windows XP.
The problem I am talking about occurs under an RGB print workflow with mixed data, RGB and CMYK, converted into the ICC output content or embedded profiles, self-created PDF files or official test charts.
It does not make any difference where PDFs came from (InDesign-Export CS2/3 or Postscript / Distiller) or which output profile or paper was used. The problem started once I had installed 10.4 on my G4 (Acrobat 7). The same under Acrobat 8 and 9 as well as under the Intel-Mac and Acrobat 9.
The only solution I have at the moment is an external bootable hard disk operative under Panther OS to generate correct PDF printouts now.
    Thank you for your help,
    Peter!

First try downloading the latest Driver for your printer.
then go to printer Utilityand delete the current listing for your printer. Quit Printer Utility
next install new Driver downloaded from Manufacturer
finally go back to Printer Utility and add the print Driver for your Printer.
    Now open Acrobat.
choose a Document that you have been trying to print causing issues
print one or two pages of the document, choose pages that seem to cause the most problem.
    check results.

Hello, I have exactly the same problem. I could have written the same text. And I have'nt found solutions. Except, perhaps, change this printer (and quit HP?).
Any suggestions would be really much appreciated.

  • Lightroom 1.4.1 Has anybody experienced corrupt print driver using Mac OS X Tiger

    Hi folks,
I am starting to pull hair out! Whilst nearing the end of a print run for a wedding customer, my HP B9180 has begun to print what looks like dark lines on 'some' areas of my prints. I have done all that I can to resolve this but to no avail! i.e. Ink levels OK. Printer test sheet perfect. Print heads re aligned and cleaned anyway. Print done from Mac itself, such as iPhoto and 'Preview' - result= perfect print. Go back to Lightroom and the same happens, I am at a loss and just eight images away from finishing the job!! HELP!
Any ideas gladly received. Is it worth trying a fresh install of Lightroom? Any one had a similar experience?
    Paul
Oh yeah: B9180 printer (with latest firmware). MacBook Pro running OS X Tiger and Lightroom 1.4.1.
A perfect combination for about a year . . .up until now!

I don't recall reading any previous reports matching your description. Have you tried deleting the LIghtroom preference file to see if that helps. Occasionally, it can become corrupt.

You posted in the OS 9 & below forum. What OS X version are you using? What model Canon printer? Canon printers have a test print capability (open the Printer Utility). What happens when you do a test print? Are all the printer cartridges in their proper location? Sometimes when you print "black", the printer uses a mixture of the colors to get "black". In the Printer Utility, check the levels of the other cartridges. There may be one color that is clogged.

  • Does anyone know of a dot-matrix printer compatible with Mac OS X Lion?

We need to upgrade our system at work to Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.  We need to find a dot-matrix printer to print our multi-part forms.  We have been using an Epson FX-980 and FX-890N under OS X 10.4 (Classic Mode).  I've tried to use the FX-890N (newer) using the Epson 9-pin driver supplied with OS X 10.7.  The print quality is so bad it's almost illegable.  I also tried different fonts in the hopes to improve print quality but have not been able to improve.
We have GOT to get to OS X 10.7 Lion, but cannot give up our impact printing capability.  We are willing to buy a new impact printer if needed.
    Please HELP!!!
    <Email Edited By Host>

I tried your link, but it came back with no page found at Lexmark.  We just purchased a LexMark Forms (dot-matrix) Printer Model 2580n after takling with sales support at LexMark.  They confirmed that this printer worked with Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion).  HOWEVER, after receiving the printer, and unsuccessfully attempting to get it to print, I called their tech support.  They told me that their sales dept was incorrect, and that they do not have a dot-matrix printer that will work with OS X 10.7.  They are in the process of issuing me an RMA# to return the printer with a full refund.
Nothing would make me happier than for you to prove them wrong.  I DESPERATELY need to find a dot-matrix printer that does work with OS X 10.7.
Any additional input you could supply would be greatly appreciated.  I look forward to your reply.

  • Prints better from iPad than it does from Mac

I have a HP B210e and have had problems since the very beginning with this. At first, it was software. The computer never connected well with the printer. Then, once that was okay (which was ironically when the drivers were dumped in Mavericks), the printing quality went downhill. It's totally inconsistent... Well, it's bad 90% of the time. Sometimes I get lucky and something comes out well. There are often muted stripes and streaks in images. Black print documents and dark images often come out red, or at least half of the page does. Needless to say, I'm ready to get rid of this and get a different printer.
Last night, however, I accidentally printed an image from the HP app on my iPad and the result was amazing. It was 3 times faster (started right away, rather than the 30 second delay when printing from my Mac) and the picture came out perfectly. So I tried 3 more. One came out kinda meh, but the rest were perfect. No steaks or muted stripes.
Why would this be the case? Both the Mac and the iPad connect to the printer through the wifi connection. Is it the specific printer? Maybe Mac OS X Mavericks? I've heard that some of the HP Printers just don't play well with Mac OS. Maybe that's it. I don't know. Has anyone else encountered this, or at least have an answer to why it happens?

    Hi kpanda333,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
Try resetting the printing system on your Mac and see if this makes a difference.  Here are the instructions for How to reset the printing system.
If you are still having issues, you can try to Repair disk permissions.

  • New router, printer does not work

A new wireless internet router and modem was installed yesterday. My printer does not respond from my MacBook Pro or my iPad. I followed all troubleshooting advice on HP and Apple websites. No luck. Apple support today suggested that my printer may need additional informatin which I cannot change. The Network ConfigurationCheck was perfect except for address changes and one other which may be significant. URLs for embedded web servers changed from http:/HP618550 to http://dhcppc2.
The Wireless Network Test Results were perfect.  My computers acess the internet also without problems. Apple had me put a USB cable between the MacBook and the printer.  Then the printer worked just fine. He thought (not being a printer guru) that perhaps the communication between the router and printer was the problem. Hence I come to this site.  I have followed all HP site troubleshooting advice and met each criteria.  HELP?

After reading this through again, I am wondering if the router is unable to support Bonjour properly.   Bonjour is the discovery service through which your Mac finds your printer on your network.
Although not for your identical router, this article may be helpful: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02986958&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en#N135
If we can't get this resolved a for-sure, kill-it-dead solution is to get a normal, standard router (Linksys or Netgear) and put it in line with your ZyXel, disabling its wireless.  I can help if you want to go this way.  A good standard router would be $40 and you would be done.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
