Lightroom 2.1: Smooth ride!

This program is really getting where no one has been before in terms of functionality, and now also in terms of reliability and operation.
I was skeptic about the N.0 version and waited for N.1. It is good!
Every step of the process with V2.1 was smooth: installation, registration, DB conversions, and I see no any impact on speed compared to 1.4.1 despite the many new clever processing functions. And in my case this means a lot: With V1.x I "got it all": crashes, freezes, corrupted screen, corrupted DB, even deleted images in one weird case.
My conclusion is: They never got discouraged, worked hard on issues and fixed them. Probably nobody questions the entire concept anymore. Lightroom is about to push any other RAW converter into a shadow existence.
What's next? Even in this dreadful economy we will keep shooting. We will buy less lenses and keep our bodies a bit longer. My take is that next for Lightroom is High Dynamic Range, support for some of the HDR formats and conversion of a collection into a HDR image.
Thomas

But that's different isn't it? That means that Lightroom does not have this functionality on its own. We have also at least one HDR plugin for Lightroom, the LR/Enfuse:
http://www.timothyarmes.com/lrenfuse.php.
And also very recently Photomatix has released its plugin:
http://www.lightroomkillertips.com/2008/photomatix-hdr-export-plug-in-for-lightroom/
My big favorite for its results is FDRtools rather, but Photomatix is a fine software, and probably the market leader among HDR solutions.

  • Shadows differ in Photoshop vs Lightroom

SUMMARY: Photos saved in Adobe RGB (1998) from Photoshop has much better shadow performance than the same unmodified image in Lightroom. Artifacts pop up deep down in the shadows, despite the rest of the image is rendered almost identical in the two programs. I can not find a way around the issue, and I wonder what it is?
    DESCRIPTION:
I have scanned photos at high resolution (profiled by inCamera), which are treated and optimized in Photoshop CS3 and then saved as JPEG quality 12 in Adobe RGB to be imported into Lightroom 1.3.1 on a MacBook Pro. (I don't want to use TIFF since those are more than 100 MB each, whereas the JPGs are just under 10MB.)
In Lightroom, I make sure there are no develop settings being applied by using the preset called Zeroed. But since Lightroom has touched the image, metadata is changed and written to the file, and when I reopen the image in Photoshop, it invokes CameraRaw! A bit strange, but I guess it is because LR has written some metadata to it, although all the develop settings are zero(?)
Except for those deep shadows, the image look identically in Photoshop and Lightroom, so profiles appear ok. My monitor is a good one: SpectraView 2690 profiled by Gretag eye-one and SpectraView Profiler 4.1.7 (same as basiccolor).
Shadows are deep, and have been lifted in photoshop, so they are a bit noisy and grainy, and it is really critical to get those right without artifacts. When zooming to 1:1, and just looking at a deep shadow section, it is obvious that the carefully balanced noise and black point settings are being mangled by Lightroom, creating blotchy artifacts and color casts.
To make sure it was not a cache issue, I deleted all previews, thereby forcing LR to rebuild them, and I also restarted the machine. It is also pretty strange that the shadows look different in the Library module from the Develop module!?
The following are links to screen captures of that dark section (PNG images, between 600 and 800 kB each):
(These are dark, so close everything brighter than mid gray on your screen, otherwise you won't see much. The images are in Adobe RGB, but it doesn't really matter if you see them with the correct profile or not, since the important and strange thing is that they are different. The best is of course if you download and view them in Photoshop.)
    In Photoshop: http://photo.bragit.com/pics/Shadow_LR_PS/PS.png
    In Lightroom, Library module: http://photo.bragit.com/pics/Shadow_LR_PS/LR_L.png
    In Lightroom, Develop module: http://photo.bragit.com/pics/Shadow_LR_PS/LR_D.png
Lightroom uses Perceptual rendering intent, and claims to be using ProPhoto internally.
To see if I could change settings in Photoshop to make it look like Lightroom (just for testing purposes), I changed the color settings in Photoshop to perceptual and also tried the Apple CMM instead of Adobe (ACE). But that didn't make any difference.
To see if the reason Lightroom makes it bad is caused by a roundtrip to ProPhoto, I converted the image in Photoshop into ProPhoto, and then to my monitor profile; but also in this case it didn't make any difference.
    QUESTION:
So, there must be something else causing this.
    What is it?
I want Photoshop to be the norm, and don't like Lightroom inventing shadow casts of its own. But I want to make slide shows and prints from Lightroom...
    Regards, Harald

    >In Lightroom, I make sure there are no develop settings being applied by using the preset called Zeroed. A bit strange, but I guess it is because LR has written some metadata to it, although all the develop settings are zero(?)
The way to prevent this is to NOT use a preset. Lightroom will not apply any settings to non-RAW files. Second, you should NOT enable "automatically write metadata to xmp" as you appear to have done in Catalog Settings. This will ensure that Lightroom will not touch your originals and will make Lightroom much faster.

Probably a rendering intent issue (see below)
    >It is also pretty strange that the shadows look different in the Library module from the Develop module!?
This is due to the fact that Library uses a preview jpeg that is generated from your file in adobeRGB. You do NOT see the actual data in Library. In develop, Lightroom renders the file into prophotoRGB. Perceptual rendering into the monitor profile from prophotoRGB will give different results than perceptual from adobeRGB, even if you have the same absolute color data. This is why you want to have no perceptual rendering intent defined in your monitor profile (see below)
    >Lightroom uses Perceptual rendering intent
Indeed, and this is how it differs from Photoshop. You cannot setup Photoshop to use perceptual rendering for the screen profile. If your monitor profile has both intents, your display will differ between Photoshop and Lightroom. To get rid of this recalibrate using your profiler, making sure you only create a relative colorimetric intent, forcing Lightroom to go through that.
    >To see if the reason Lightroom makes it bad is caused by a roundtrip to ProPhoto, I converted the image in Photoshop into ProPhoto, and then to my monitor profile; but also in this case it didn't make any difference.
Apart from the fact that Lightroom doesn't use prophotoRGB but uses a linear version of prophoto (i.e. a color space with prophotoRGB primaries and a linear gamma instead of 1.8), you should get similar results if you use perceptual rendering when you convert into your monitor profile. Lightroom uses the exact same color engine as Photoshop, so if you set it up correctly, you should get almost identical results.
Lastly, many of these differences seen between photoshop and Lightroom are caused by corrupt monitor profiles. Many of these are canned profiles from the monitor manufacturer. Trash them and never touch them again. Only use profiles from a hardware calibrator. Also, make sure your graphics card driver is up-to-date. Lots of these problems are caused by outdated graphics drivers.

  • Is Lightroom 5 compatible with Os X 10.8.5?

    Hi,
I have a 3 year old MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion (recently upgraded) OS X 10.8.5, and am thinking about purchasing Lightroom 5 for photo organization and editing. Will the Lightroom 5 operate smoothly on this system?

    Hi, Allan
As far as I can tell from this site, the list does NOT include the new Lightroom 5. Unless I have missed something?

  • Not Smooth, Jerky & Slow.

Is anyone having this problem? Got leopard, set up my dock to magnify and automatically hide and show dock. As i tested, it lagged. Literally only had finder running. Turned off magnification and doesn't lag UNTIL you open 4 or 5 or more apps.. At the same time expose lags as-well as spaces. Really ruins the experience. Never had this problem with Tiger

    Greetings,
In my particular case, I have had a smooth ride so far. I did an upgrade on this Macbook, and each of the installation methods on five of my other machines.
I have Pages, MSN IM, Numbers, iTunes, and iPhoto all open, right now, and the magnification, and the Genie effect are smooth as they can be. I have 2 Gig of Ram in this 2.16 Gig MacBook. Of course the more you load up, the slower the reaction time will be, it all depends on available memory, but as far as jerkiness, or being quirky goes, I have not seen that on any of my machines, so far.
I did notice with one of my machines that after I did an upgrade, I was sure that it should be quicker, so I backed up everything, and did a fresh load, by repartitioning and the disk, same sizes, just a different name. I reinstalled all the software that it had before, but it is noticeably faster and the space required was a bit less.
I won't use the upgrade method any longer, I like the speed difference and it's nice to have a clean drive/load. I'm sure not everyone is likely to see it this way, but to each his own.
I hope this helps in some small way. Have a Grand Day.
    Cheers,
    M.

  • Best way to move a site between farms running different versions of SharePoint.

I will try and keep this short and summarize what we are trying to do to see if I am on the right track. I am at a new job and trying to clean up stuff that has collected over the years. I might be making this more difficult than necessary and looking for
the easiest way to accomplish the goal which is:
There is a team here that had a SharePoint 2007 WSS environment built for them years ago that they have been using and have a lot of historical data that they want to keep. It contains several (8) Sites in a single Site Collection. The sites are all very
basic using out of the box web parts(Lists and Libraries). Nothing custom and security very basic (can be recreated if needed) which is all good. We want to consolidate this farm as it is the only thing on the farm and move it to our Intranet (running SharePoint
2010 Enterprise). On the intranet we have a Managed Path configured for "Teams" which this site collection would fall nicely into based on usage policy and existing Governance. I am fine with them having their own Site Collection Database separate
from what the other site collections that already exist. All of this really doesn't sound like it will be too hard. However I don't want to run out and buy any migration tools as it is just this one site that is moving and I should be able to do this with
    out of the box tools/powershell.
Gotchas - 2007 WSS was on SP0. I just got done upgrading the 2007 environment to SP3. I think I needed to be at least up to SP2 but since I was upgrading them anyhow I went up to SP3. Intranet is running on SharePoint Server 2010 Ent SP1. This shouldn't
be an issue as I am just jumping from 07->10 so as long as my 07 content DB is at a high enough patch level I should be able to move everything right over but will be working a project to upgrade to current SP on the Intranet after I am done with this initial
consolidation and retirement of the 2007 WSS farm.
My thoughts on how to do this.
The Team wants this to happen so they are willing to stop work on site for a day so I can do this is normal business hours which is really nice of them. I also have a test environment which is pretty close to prod to practice the process on. So my plan
is to  grab a SQL backup and restore the Content DB to the SQL box for the 2010 Farm. Once the site collection's Content DB is on the right SQL box, use PowerShell to attach the Content DB to a new temp staging Web Application that I created for this
process. Then backup and restore the site collection to the existing "Teams" Managed Path on the normal production Web Application. I assume to do this it would be best to use a "staging" Content DB for the initial SQL restore. Then set
up a new "Production" Content Database for them to live on or point it to the existing Teams Content Database. I guess somewhere in here (after import) I should upgrade the site collection to 2010 look and feel. Let them know I am done and they can
go back to work while I clean up all the staging stuff.
Am I missing anything obvious here? I might have to do the Staging Web Application creation and cleanup after hours as I think I will need to do an IIS Reset.
Once all this is done then I start the project to upgrade the Intranet to 2013.
    Thanks

Much detail :) but as a shortcut you can use third party migration tools to have a seamless transition from old version to new. Few to mention, Methalogix and Quest tools. You may also leverage the trial version they offer which most probably cover your
    current situation.
The good thing about third party migration tools are you don't have to worry about template mapping nor security mapping. Of course for migration from very old version, like SP2003 to SP2010 requires the security mapping as it's totally different in structure.
But from SP2007 on-wards the security hierarchy is basically same. One good thing to bear in mind is if you've custom solution there maybe some issue otherwise it's a smooth ride.
    Hope this helps :)
Yeah, I know there are shortcuts with third party migration tools but I really think they would be overkill in this case. While I thought of trials, I don't want to waste time going through a trial version only to find the finalize button is grayed out unless
you pay for it and have to start over with something else. Though it isn't like I have that much data. Entire Site collection is 314MB when I look at storage used in Quotas and Locks. So if the trial was limited to 5GB or something then it would work.
I am doing this mini project now to avoid having to jump from 2007 to 2013 as we are getting pressure to get our intranet moved up to 2013. To do this move later would mean I would need to set up a 2010 environment to jump to  before moving them to
2013 so might as well cram it in now before hand to save a bunch of work later on. As I mentioned, no custom solutions, no custom web parts, nothing but out of the box stuff. Not even the fab 40. So this should be as easy as can be.
Worst case that I can think of is that I might loose security. That isn't even that bad being it is a single site collection that I am dealing with. It is wide open to the entire team so just drop their entire AD Security group in Contributor and they would
be back up and running. Go back and grant 1-2 people advanced permissions and they should be set.
Besides the way I look at it, going the PowerShell route is a good refresher for me as it may be similar when I do the move to 2013. We have the upgrade of not only the Intranet but our external web site as well.

  • Adobe Photo Downloader

I just purchased and installed Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. The first thing I want to do is get rid of the Adobe Photo Downloader that has appeared in my system tray. How do I get rid of this thing? No amount of twiddling with the settings in Lightroom seems to get rid of it. I don't have any other Adobe products that would install this thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can, but I don't want the program to load at all. To update, I just inserted a memory card with RAW images, and Lightroom started up even though I had set it to "Do Nothing" when a memory card has been imported. Also, I see that there is an "Import From Elements" option under the File menu. However, the manual indicates that this should not be an option for me as I DON'T have Photoshop Elements or Photoshop Album installed. As a matter of fact, this computer is a fresh installation of XPMCE2005 especially prepared for todays install of Lightroom.
Lightroom, at least for my install, appears to be troubled, and I am already, unfortunately, disappointed with my first day's experience. The BETA version was much less troublesome for me.

  • Skype preuser

Like to be able to use my isight camera and microphone on my G5 with Skype, have been reading feedbacks but have not found an answer to my question.
What do I need to have prior to downloading the latest Skype version 2.5.0.38, will I have to purchase a separate earphones or will I be able to use the builtin mic with the isight on my G5.
Will I have any problem with the latest Skype version.
Can anyone shed a light on what I should not do in order to avoid any problems, and what I should do (downloads, softwares, hardwares) for a smooth ride.
I will be using this with other Skype users.
    Thank you
    hedyn

Will I have any problem with downloading the Skype latest version?
    Thanks,
    hedyn
I use an iSight with the Skype beta that supports
video on a Powerbook G4. The mic works fine.
Earphones don't act as a mic anyway. You should be OK
with the speakers , if there is feedback, lower the
mic input or the speaker output.
What the other Skype users use is not relevant for
your setup to work, for example Windows users use
webcams, or nothing at all, even then they would see
    your video.

  • FCP/Adobe Premier Workflow

I have a friend who has done some work on his PC using Adobe Premiere and now wants me to finish up the editing for him. The problem is that I have a PowerMac and use Final Cut Studio. Is there any way that the work that he's done on Premiere can be transfered over to my computer and can be edited on Final Cut? If I understand correctly, the opposite is possible (going from Final Cut to Premiere), but I don't know if I can do what I'm wanting to do.
If you know, please tell me if and how it can be done.
    Thanks.

do you mean that I'll need to recapture that original footage?
Yes. Premier on a PC most likely works with AVI files, whereas Final Cut pro uses QuickTime.
AVI kind of works in FCP but it can be clunky.
I wouldn't bet on it being a smooth ride getting the existing files to work in FCP.
But if you can get the scenes in the right order and length on your Timeline via the EDL, it will save a lot of time.

  • Touch in the

I know I should not jog or run with my Zen Touch, but what about using it in my car, or bus? You think I can use my Touch safely while riding in a car or bus without the fear of damaging the hard dri've?

I've been riding a bus every business day with my Zen Xtra and have had no problems... And let me make it clear that it's no smooth ride either.
(Zen Touch & Zen Xtra use similar hard dri'ves)

  • IMac is completly messed up

Hey everyone. I have no idea what happened, but I just moved, and when I set up my iMac, it started to work very VERY slowly, when opening programs, files, or even just turning on. After some Google research I opened Disc Utility and clicked Verify Disc Permissions. After about 30 minutes I had a list of about 1,000+ items, so I went out, purchased a 1TB external HDD to do a backup of my music and pictures first.
After formatting my new external HDD (Mac OS X (Journaled)) and set it as my Time Machine drive, it will never go past "Calculating changes...." While my main internal HDD is partitioned, I turned the Windows part off in the Time Machine preferences, because right now I just want to delete everything and start over.
So now I have an iMac almost too slow to be of any use, a new $100 HDD that will not back up, and a very big headache. I was going to just give up and call AppleCare, but I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions before doing anything.
To all who help, a million thanks to you!!
Message was edited by: KenCochran (Fixed Typos)

    Ken,
First Verify the disk (not the permissions). If you recently moved, perhaps the iMac didn't have a smooth ride to your new dwelling. If it is a hard disk problem, the last thing you want to do is spin it more than necessary by making incomplete clones.
Secondly, there are hardware diagnostics on the OS X install disk that came with your iMac, if you have the disk available. If you used the DVD to verify the hard drive in the step above, leave it in the drive, and boot the iMac while holding D down. You can loop the test and let it run for a while (overnight would be good if possible.) See if that gives you an indication if something went wrong during the move.

  • EXPORTING FILES FROM LR5

Using Win7 64-bit O/S.  My ususal procedure from LR4 after editing is to export to Elements 9 catalog using the Cntl-Shift-E commmand.  I rename the file as it suits me then export to my hard drive location by pressing "Export".  I then go to PSE and get the message "New files have been found.  Do you want to import?" Clicking yes adds the file to my Library.  After installing LR5, I can't import edited files from LR5 OR Photohop (CS5).  Similar experiences?  Work arounds?

I can't import edited files from LR5 OR Photohop (CS5).
Why not? What happens when you try? Is there an error message?
In my opinion there there is a work around as designed by Adobe:
Use LR5 as your "Organizer" (not PSE), and use PSE as an auxiliary editor. The process is much smoother than what you describe, and your problem goes away. Adobe designed Lightroom to work smoothly with the PSE Editor; but there is no design to allow Lightroom to work smoothly with the PSE Organizer.

  • Gridbag Layout and Tabbed Panes

First off, I'm pretty new to Java, I started it around February as a school course, and it's been a pretty smooth ride. Recently, we started to code GUI, trying out different layouts and whatnot. I'm having a little trouble in this portion as our teacher did not really delve into it very much. My question concerns the GridBag layout within a panel of a tab (sorry if this is unclear, I'm talking about something that looks like this: http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/tabcontrol.asp). I don't know how to use GridBag constraints within a panel. What I used to do with GridBag was simply use some code that looked like (forgive me, this might not be very accurate): AddComponent button1(#, #, #, #) and define what each of those numbers meant later (first would be row, second would be column, third would be width, fourth would be height, for example). But now, with the tabs, each button, label, or any other control would be declared, then I would place a bunch of direct constraints after, like this:
    JButton button1 = new JButton("1");
    constraints.gridx = 0;
    constraints.gridy = 0;
    constraints.gridwidth = 1;
constraints.gridheight = 1;then add them into the panel like this:
panel1.add(button1, constraints); However, I have tried making the buttons on top of each other, and other patterns, but it would just place the buttons next to each other within the panel. How do I make it so that the constraints work? Or rather, if they do work, what kinda things might mess it up? I think the problem is that I dunno how to make the constraints specific to that one button.
Also, how do I make each panel a certain size instead of each panel being as small as possible to contain anything within it.
I'm sorry if this all sounds very vague, I'd be more than happy to give you any needed information. Also, I'm not asking any of you to do my homework, I just need a little clarification or an example. Just in case, here's the code I'm working on: http://hashasp.mine.nu/paster/?1376. Be aware that there are no comments or anything, it's very bare. Also, the form may be a bit messy because I'm pretty much reusing code that was given to me, just manipulating it in a different way. Thanks a lot in advanced for your time in reading this.

  • What skills needed to enable ESS and MSS in ECC6.0?

We are upgrading to ECC6.0 from 5.0.  We have been using MSS and ESS (old ITS version of ESS) for 5 to ten years.  What skillsets does my HCM IT team need in order to enable this functionality?  I have been trying to find classes on BSP pages and Webdynrpo without success.

    Jim
On ECC 6.0 with EHP 4, you would need Business Package 1.41 for ESS/MSS.
Lets call it right, its not EP 7, its called NW 7.0. Yes, upgrading to NW 7.0 is required for EHP 4.
Once again, EHP 4 is too fresh to implement. Recommended solution is ECC 6 with EHP 3, Business Package 1.3 and NW 7.0.
Apply the latest service patches for a smoother ride.

  • Premiere wants to close during the burning of a DVD

After having had much problems with Premiere 8 (slow and many freeze ups), I went to upgrade my computer and purchased Premiere 9, hoping I would have a smooth ride. WRONG!!!
Speed has increased slightly but now I have the problem that the program needs to close while burning a DVD. I've tried several times to no avail.
I'm trying to burn a video with 5 clips of HD recordings. Total duration: 43 minutes.
I have installed a 2nd hard drive: 2TB and I've installed some of my photos and video clips on this drive as well as Adobe Premiere/Photoshop.
Can you help because I'm becoming very frustrated to the point of being mad.
    Computer details:
    Dell Model 'Dimension E520'.  Intell (R) Pentium (R) D.  CPU 2.8Ghz.
    Ram DDR2  4Gb.
    System Type: 32-bit
Storage Controllers: Adaptec AIC-7870PCI SCSI (Emulated) and Intel (R) 82801 HR/HH/HO SATA RAID
My vitual memory for the 2nd drive is set at 10000
    Chipset is Intel P965/G965
I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2
    DVD/CD Rom:  HL-DT-ST DVD+ -RW GSA_H31N
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7300LE   128Mb.
    Regards: Herman

Hello Herman, do me a favour and try something because I have exactly the same problem but I'm getting closer to getting a solution.
Right click on your first clip which has audio (don't do it with an audio clip, do it with a video clip that has audio linked), go to Show Properties down the bottom, open them disable the Volume Filter by clicking the eye. Once the box where they eye was is blank do that with all your other clips that contain Audio.
Then try and burn your dvd. I know this will not actually give you what you want but at least it will help us identifying the problem. I'm sure it is the volume filter because as soon as I enable it, premiere closes again. It actually comes with a message that reports issues with an audio filter.
If that is the case maybe Adobe can get their act together and make an update that will fix this issue because I have 5 DVD's ready cut waiting to be burned and my clients are not too impressed.
NB: It has NOTHING to do with my camera, computer, or whatever. My client purchased a brand new 6 core i7 computer with 8 GB of RAM and had no other Software then Premiere Elements 9.0 installed which was of the net, so no Steve it's got nothing to do with the system IT IS THE SOFTWARE! It would be nice if Adobe would test their software before it works so people who pay for the products don't lose jobs over it.

  • List "Folders" hierarchy by date instead of alphabetically?

I would love to get the left panel in Lightroom 5.4 to show my folders in order of their name, creation date, modification date just like you can do with the OSX Finder or the Explorer in Windows but can't for the life of me find where to change this. Is this functionality in Lightroom?
I find myself opening my folders in OSX Finder, listing the folders by date to see what I named the folder from last week, then opening Lightroom and navigating through the folders on the left to the one I need. I can see how to list the photos in the center panel by date, but with up to several hundred RAW files in each folder it takes a LOT more time to scroll through the photos in Lightroom and then click "Go to Folder in Lightroom".

So I am assuming Lightroom doesn't have this ability? Too bad, and it's strange too as every other photo editing/organizing piece of software I've used has this functionality
Lightroom was not designed to be a file browser, and it was not designed to contain all of the tools of other software ... it was designed to be different and to contain its own set of organizing tools which are very powerful, if you learn how to use them.
Organizing is a combination of mental processes and software tools, and when those mental processes and software tools are not "compatible", as seems to be your case, then you will find that things don't go smoothly. WHen your mental processes and software tools are "compatible", then Lightroom works very smoothly.
You must have a good memory to remember five to ten folder names a day over several weeks... that's about 75-100 folder names a month... beyond most folks abilities.
I don't remember folder names, and I said I don't use them to help me find my photos. My photos get keywords that describe the content, and that is my suggestion to you. You could take your 5 weeks of photos, in hundreds of folders, and give them basic keywords at import (since you have to import the photos anyway). From there, it is a very simple task to find just those photos that have the desired keyword(s). Certainly no harder than giving the folders individual names in the first place. But no matter how you slice it, if you've got hundreds of folders, there is going to be a certain amount of work on your part to make them "findable", whether you use folder names or keywords or some other tool. And if you can't remember the hundreds of folder names (then you can't remember the keywords either), then there's the problem, it's not Lightroom.
If you MUST rely on a date based search, then you either need to use your operating system, or change the way you name the folders so that they contain a yyyy-mm-dd date before the descriptive name, such as "2014-06-13 California" so then they will sort properly inside of Lightroom. But since I abhor date-based organizing, and I love metadata based organizing, I do not recommend this, I would still go for keywords. Instead of creating hundreds of folders during your 5 week trip, instead of putting these 50 photos into folder A, and the next 112 photos into folder B and so on, I would leave them in a single folder (or a few large folders) and assign them keywords instead of putting them into folders (there are freeware programs that will allow you to assign keywords to photo, just as simple as creating folders). Then finding them in Lightroom becomes no problem, the keywords are read when you import them into Lightroom.
