Lightroom 2.4 on XP crashes on first start up
I have the trial version on an XP machine with a 3.4 ghz processor, 1 GB of ram, a GeForce 6600 (512mb) graphics card. Ever since I downloaded the program it freezes all the time. Initially it would freeze on startup and crash my start bar soon after as well. After I installed Photoshop CS3 it now runs until I try to do anything major and again crashes the start bar. AFTER all that if I can get the program started again it runs just fine. Its not maxing out the ram or anything and CS3 runs beautifully without any issues. It will do this on every first start up of the program. If I restart and try again it freezes again like clockwork.
Any recommendations? Should I uninstall and reload or is it system related?
I see. I'll give it a shot and see what happens. The answer does make sense in a way, but I have a feeling its more than a lack of RAM and/or updated drivers...but that's just cuz I'm a pessimist. Thanks for the suggestion.
EDIT-
After removing a few unused programs from startup and freeing some ram it seems lightroom won't lockup anymore. Interestingly enough it does not come near maxing out my ram. I can run LR and CS3 at the same time and only under intense usage of photoshop can I come close to maxing out the ram but both programs still run. Even before the modifications LR wasn't maxing out on ram hence my skeptiscism. So, I can only stipulate you were right. Thanks again for the help. Hopefully *knocks on wood* this problem has been solved.

Pages crashes after first synchronization
Hi, everyone.
Last night I synchronized for the first time my home and office Macs using Leopard and my .Mac account. Since then, my office copy of Pages crashes shortly after I start using other programs. The screen simply dissapears. The program is apparently still running but there's nothing on the screen. The only way for Pages to work again is restarting the computer, and again it crashes when I start using other programs.
I tried restoring Pages using Time Machine. I also tried deleting iWork and reinstalling from the disk. Even tried updating the program. The same thing happens... Pages is fine until I start opening programs.
I use Pages all the time, so this is really frustrating. Your help would be truly appreciated.
JAMMLost is lost.
Buy it from the Mac App Store. It is not that expensive and you will then get all updates automatically and be able to install it on several Macs so long as you use the same Apple I.D.
In future I suggest you protect your investment in software by buying an installer USB drive and adding all your installers along with purchase records and serial numbers on that.

Lightroom 1.4.1 keeps crashing
I have used Lightroom 1.4.1 for years with no problems. Now, after trying to download some pictures the other night, Lightroom "quits unexpectedly" and keeps crashing! How can I solve this problem and still save my catalogue?
When Lightroom is closed look in your My Pictures Folder> Lightroom, there will be several files there including your catalog file. If there is a file ending with .lock delete this file then restart Lightroom. See the attached screen capture. Make sure you do not delete the actual Catalog file.
When Lightroom it creates this .lock file next toyour catalog file, ensuring there is no other access to the catalog. The file gets deleted automatically when Lightroom is shut down. However if Lightroom is not shut down normally then it will remain in place and prevent Lightroom from opening. -
How to Re-activate my lightroom license after a system crash ?
Hi My computer crashed and I was forced to reformat my drives. How can I register my License as it is still active. This prevents me from using Lightroom
Hi Keith
A short desciption of my problem
History
Installed Lightroom on my Zbook and activated my serial number
Windows crashed and reciovery failed
Format harddrive & re-install windows
Downloaded Lightroom via free abode cloud interface (Dec/Jan)
Could use lightroom until February
Lightroom develop is inactivated ( I can see all my pictures in the Library mode)
When I punch in my serial nr for lightroom I get the message that it is already active
I presume that the issue is that it seems that I am trying to active my license again ?
Best regards

Mac Pro 2008 always crash after sleep and after first start
Hello, new in the forum,
2 years ago, I replaced the main disk of a Mac Pro 2008 for a SSD Samsung 470 256 Go.
Until then, it always crashed 1 or 5 minutes after sleep mode (which I didn't used much), and not always 10 to 15 minutes after the first start of the day.
No matter if I was working on it or not… Suitcase installed or not (no font problem here). Rest of the day was fine (if no sleep !).
The difference of speed was so big and "good" that I dealed with it. I though that the Mac Pro was a little old for the SSD technology, and that Apple would fix it, with chance…
2 weeks ago, I installed Maverick :
I got crashs during the work flow too. I needed to re-start 3 times at least… Re-start without extension was ok (or not), re-start, crash, re-start without extension, restart ok. I used Onyx, did PRAM too. And sometimes, I needed to re-install Maverick or even to do a clean-install !
So I suspected the Samsung 470 for all (sleep and work crashs) and replaced it for a Samsung 840 Pro 512 Go.
And the Mac Pro returned to Mountain Lion.
Not really better : no crash one day (yeeeees!) and crash after the first start the next day (nooooo!). Every time I tested sleep mode, it crashed.
My system :
Mac Pro 3.1 - 2,8 GHz - Quad
Mountain Lion, 10 Go ram DDR2, ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT, 30' cinema display.
Adobe CS5 alone (minimal install) with Onyx to repair after each crash.
Could it be the video card, the mother board, the age of the boy ?
Thanks a lot !
Christophe SEdit !
I said that Finder and apps were blocked after 10 seconds (without extension).
But it was to clic on Launchpad that blocked all, and 5 minutes later it works again.
I did clic again on Launchpad, it blocked and 2 minutes later it appeared full screen but with rainbow circle, and quit.
- Restarted with extensions. Kernel panic!
- Restarted the mac and the grey screen with Apple blocked, without any mouse this time. 15 minutes later, still blocked.
- Forced restart without extension. Here are the reports of Kernel Panic and EtreCheck:

Is there a way to reset Lightroom back to when I first started the trial. In other words how it first came "out of the box"?
I read some tutorials and I would like to start fresh. Not sure what your goal is here, but there are a couple of things you can do.
In preferences>General - Reset all warning dialogs.
In Preferences>Presets - Reset all default develop settings.
Finally, if you really want to start fresh with all your photos, go to File>New Catalog. Note: the new catalog will not have any photos in it. You will have to re-import all your photos.
If you are still on the 30 day trial and you are hoping to start over with a new 30 day trial, the answer is No! -
When I use the Intel FFT libraries(MKL), I seem to have a strange crash whenever I start allocating the Intel DFTI descriptors. I call a DLL from LabVIEW 8.2.1, in which these functions are used. I am working on Windows XP x64. This seems like a bug which was present in these libraries, but I got the libraries where the bug was resolved.
The strange things is that, when I open LabVIEW and then open the VI, LabVIEW crashes from the moment I allocate an Intel Dfti descriptor. But when I just double-click the VI and open it this way, I can run the VI without a crash! I already removed the DLLs in \Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\MKL\MKL70 to see if they were the cause. But even without them, I still get the crash.
I know there was a strange crash in the previous version of Intel MKL when calling a DLL and allocating this type of descriptor, so it seems like somewhere LabVIEW still uses old versions of some of these DLLs. But even then, can this explain the difference in behaviour between opening the VI through LabVIEW or directly? And if so, were could I find these DLLs? I've already searched from them everywhere.Update:
- Opening the single VIs directly by double-clicking indeed solves the crash: from then on I can run all VIs using the libraries without any problem. So LabVIEW must do something strange when it is opened.
- Linking my DLLs statically against the Intel libraries ALSO solves the prolbem. So this seems to indicate LabVIEW loads some dynamic library which screws up everything. But only on x64 systems . This bloats my DLL, but currently I do not see another work-around.
Anyone has any more ideas? Otherwise I can always submit some test case to LabVIEW support. -
Photoshop CC 2014 crashes right after start in Win7 Ultimate. Installed a new graphics card MSI GeForce GT730 and did an immediate driver update. Also completely updated Windows. Bridge and Lightroom 5.5 work fine. After several attempts to get PS up and running, also after checking possible solutions on the web and in this community I was still left with a crashing application.
Then tried a cracked amtlib.dll in the Photoshop directory and PS worked fine! But not able to check in to CC. Then replaced the cracked amtlib.dll with the original and PS again crashed a few seconds after launch. Oh, and yes, I did check out of Creative Cloud and checked in again but nothing worked so far. After browsing through several sites I finally stumbled upon the message below, posted a couple of months ago in this forum.
This sequence finally was the solution to my problem with Ps crashing after launch.
PROBLEM SOLVED!!
After dozens of fruitless attemps to solve the problem and many, many hours of searching the web, I stumbled upon a thread in the PS community that helped me fix the problem and made my day (weekend).
The thread was originally posted by MrNameloc here and ALL CREDITS got to him. A public "Thank You" to MrNameloc is also in its right place.
The solution is as follows:
Un-install Photoshop CC.
Un-install Adobe CC.
Go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe and find SLCache and delete it.
Go to: C:\ProgramData\Adobe and find SLStore and delete it.
Restart.
Install Adobe CC.
Install Photoshop.
Restart.
@Adobe, you might wanna write this one behind your ear just in case it shows up again in the forums... 'cose it will. -
Why does Photoshop CC 64bit crash direct after start?
I have Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC installed. Photoshop 64bit crash direct after start without any msg. Photshop 32bit version and Lightroom 64bit works fine. How can I get PS 64bit version working?
We can't know. you have not provided any system information or otehr details like the crash logs.

Firefox crashes everytime I start it and Trend Mirco Pops up with a Malicious URL
Every time I start firefox it hangs or locks up with Not Responding. I've tried it in safe mode but still have problems. Also just before the program hangs my Trend Micro window pops up and says that it blocked a threat. http://convertnews.ru/kernal/index.php. These problems only started a two weeks ago. I've run multiple virus scans and which don't come up with any problems. I can't get a crash ID because it never asks to report the crash. This problem is happening on ALL my computer, laptop, home computer, work computer. Everyone that uses Firefox. I've disabled the add-ons but still the problem persists. Usually it happens when I first start up Firefox for the first time of the day. Getting really tired of these problems.
Try renaming the folder "Elements Organizer" and "Online Services". These folder are present at C:\Users\<current user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe. After renaming these folders, application should launch without crashing.

Another thing we found that when we start ASM on node1, the cluster interconnect hangs when we try to ping
We did modify the cluster_interconnect parameter to try to start using public interface but the issued remained the same and we were not able to ping public interface
The crs is fine

Sampled Session History
The sampled session history is constructed by sampling
the target session every 1 second. The sampling process
captures at each sample if the session is in a non-idle wait,
an idle wait, or not in a wait. If the session is in a
non-idle wait then one interval is shown for all the samples
the session was in the same non-idle wait. If the
session is in an idle wait or not in a wait for
consecutive samples then one interval is shown for all
the consecutive samples. Though we display these consecutive
samples in a single interval the session may NOT be continuously
idle or not in a wait (the sampling process does not know).
The history is displayed in reverse chronological order.

Why is Aperture 3 crashing soon after start ?
I tried to move from iPhoto to Aperture. I imported my iPhone library and kept the photos at their location.
The library has more than 36000 pictures and movies.
Everything works, the projects, the pictures and so on.
But after a few minutes after the import was completed, Aperture crashed the first time.
I started it again and after a few minutes, crash.
It says "processing" at the bottom. The circle stops and then crash.
Hope somebody can help.
Greetings
Robin

iPhone library and kept the photos at their location.
Do you mean iPhoto Library?
If you left the master image filesat their current location inside iPhoto - did you modify them in any way using iPhoto after you imported them into Aperture? That is not safe, and you must not edit the images imported to Aperture using iPhoto, if you reference them from Aperture.
But after a few minutes after the import was completed, Aperture crashed the first time.
I started it again and after a few minutes, crash.
Aperture may crash, if you imported a corrupted, or unaccesible master image file; then typically the crash occurs while building previews, and the Aperture library or your preference files may be left in an inconsistent state. You migth try to restart Aperture and defer the preview generation and see, if you can spot the corrupted image in the browser (it should be the first image without a preview) or directly try the Trouble Shooting Basics: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805 (repair permissions, repair the library, remove preferences).
When you are importing such a big library, it is easy to run out of disk space - where is your Aperture library located and the library it is referencing? On the system drive, a locally mounted volume, or a network volume? How much space is left on your volumes, and are they formatted MacOS X extended?
Regards
Léonie
Yes, sure I meant iPhoto Library, sorry.
No I, did not use iPhoto again, after I started the import process. I want to change from iPhoto to Aperture completely.
But maybe it is better to import the original files in the Aperture library ?
As I posted a few lines above, I tried the import now three times, and I repaired permissions, removed preferences and repaired the iPhoto library.
I did this also with the Aperture Library after the third import. Previews are O.K. and also fast.
This picture shows the last seconds before crash:
Both libraries are on the same harddisk, it's the system drive and more than 150 GB disk space free. Checked the system drive with Disk Utility, and of course the System Drive is formatted as MacOSX extended journaled.
It is an 2007 iMac Core2Duo with 4GB RAM, maybe this computer is not capable ? -
Firefox Crashes Silently at Start-up
Firefox has been crashing on start-up for the past few weeks. I've tried safe mode, a profile reset, a clean re-install, and several clean installs of different versions (4.0, 4.1, 5.0 and 6.0b1) in attempts to resolve this, all without success. Occasionally Firefox will start successfully and will stay stable once it has, but this is a very rare occurrance. I've run scans with Avast Antivirus, Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware, which all came back clean.
The only changes to the system around the time the problem started were CPU and RAM upgrades (with new, known-good parts) and a BIOS update required to use the new CPU. Firefox is the only program crashing in any way/shape/form since this upgrade.Hey Seifer10357,
Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. If the crash doesn't happen in Safe Mode, you should read [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].
There is also a lot of useful stuff in the [[Firefox crashes]] Knowledge Base article. If you've recently upgraded, you might want to check out [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/latest-firefox-issues#w_firefox-crashes-when-i-start-it this article] as well.
Hopefully this helps!
