Lightroom 2.6 and CS2

Hello.
I usually open my images taken with a Canon Eos 5D Mark II in LR 2.6, then develop and export them to CS2.
The resoultion in CS2 is 240. How can I set it to 300 dpi?
Thank you!

Thanks Jim.
Yes, I do know that. The reaon why I want to change it is that it annoys me: when I see that ridiculous 240 instead of 300 I get upset!
Please nhelp me!
Thanks.

Hi I have been having a problem with Bridge in CS4 recently. So uninstalled CS4 and Lightroom 4.4 and reinstalled them on my Desktop PC. When I turned on Bridge through CS4, My thumb nail images disappeared and a thumb nail icon with CR2 appeared. Now some of my images have disappeared from Light room 4.4, but I can find them in CS4 and Bridge now shows some thumb nails as images and some as an icon with CR2. I have spent two weeks going through preferences etc. to find how to resolve my problem. Please can you Help? Meany thanks in advance

I don't use LR and rarely use the bridge so I can not answers about thumbnails in them,  However thumbnails in windows file explorer and windows dialog for CS2 files will only show if you have installed codec into windows that will produce them. Windows does not do CR2 thumbnails on its own. I use FastPictureViewer Codec package for RAW File and PSD files thunbmail support.

  • Lightroom Not Regonising Photoshop CS2.

    Hi all
Just selected an image and others in Lightroom 1.3 and when you right click my option to edit in Photoshop is no longer their. I only get the option to use Windoes Explorer. When I go into Edit> External editing, it states Photoshop is not found. Huh
So what do I need to get he Photoshop options back.
    Thankyou josel

What shows up in your preferences under External Editing TAB. (shortcut to get there is CTRL, (CTRL comma on Windows). The top entry should show "Edit in Photoshop CS2".
Adobe has an article for fixing this for Photoshop CS3, but it should work for CS2 as well, if you substitute references to CS3 with CS2:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401629
That article recommends two steps for Windows (and Mac). For Windows it recommends firstly reinstalling Photoshop. However, if Photoshop is installed and working, you should follow step 2. It involves registry editing. If you do not want to edit the registry, then you may try the registry export described here:
    http://blog.rrdphoto.com/2007/05/how-to-fix-lightrooms-edit-in-photoshop.html
Download the fix_PSCS3_path_reg file, edit it to refer to CS2 and double-click the edited version to update your registry.

  • My new Canon MarkIII and CS2 are not compatible...

Hi - I wish I could go into a camera shop or an Apple shop to get this sorted. But there are none where I live so I hope someone can help me. I have a legal version of CS2 and use a G5 mac. I'm a professional photographer and I want only to open my RAW pix in PS without converting via Digital Photo Professional or anything else. I never have my G5 hooked up to the internet and therefore have not imported latest versions of anything. I have tried an illegal CS3 and that cannot open my RAW files either so I am loathe to buy a legal version if it does not solve my problem. While I know both my camera and CS2 back to front I am not a computer geek. I have had a look through the forums but cannot find any answers. Chao and thanks. H

Adobe doesn't offer "forever" support for new cameras, except for offering an ongoing update for their DNG converter. So, to get your canon raw files to open with CS2 you need to download the most recent version of ACR+DNG. See:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/
I cannot help too much, being more familiar with Windows, but the DNG converter does not need to be installed - it just simply works by pointing it at a folder of raw files.
The version of CS3 you tried probably didn't install with the most recent version of ACR, which is why it didn't work with your Canon files. ACR v4 is much improved over v3 - you might consider CS3. Another option, for approximately the same price of upgrading to CS3, is Lightroom (v2 in beta test). It offers a slightly different approach to digital photography that includes a library (i.e., database approach as opposed to Bridge's "browser" approach).
    HTH :)

Hi, I am having a little trouble with exporting images to another drive and Catalogue and need some help if anyone can give me some advice
I am currently using Lightroom 5.6 and operating on a Mac with OSX Ver 10.9.5.
I am receiving an error problem when doing the following -
I am exporting selected photos from a particular Catalogue saved on Drive 1 to a folder created on another Drive where a Lightroom Catalogue has been created. In this Catalogue I have arranged for the images once exported to be moved to a different folder - I used the Auto Import process under the File dialogue box.
When processing the Export I receive an error message for each of the images being exported indicating the following -
    Heading Import Results
Some import operations were not performed
Could not move a file to requested location. (1)
then a description of the image with file name
    Box Save As                                  Box  OK
If I click the OK button to each image I can then go to the other Catalogue and all images are then transferred to the file as required.
To click the OK button each time is time consuming, possibly I have missed an action or maybe you can advise an alternative method to save the time in actioning this process.
Thanks if you can can help out.

Thank You, but this is a gong show. Why is something that is so important to us all so very, very difficult to do?

    1. You have allowed Apple to auto-upgrade your Mac
    Turn off auto-update here:
Menu > Apple > System Preferences > App Store
    2. The Icons on your dock are Aliases not real apps
They point to where the apps really are which is:
For Pages 5.2.2 in your Applications folder
For Pages '09 in your Applications/iWork folder
    3. You are alternately opening documents randomly with either version of Pages
Both Pages have the same file extension .pages and there is no certainty as to which version opens them when you double click on a file.
right click on the file and choose which version you want to open it
    4. Pages '09 can not open Pages 5 files
Pages 5 can not open Pages '08 files, and will convert and change Pages '09 and Word files.
It will also auto save opened files into its own format.
You can export these back to Pages '09 if you need to:
    Menu > File > Export > Pages '09
    5. Yes Pages 5.2.2 is a marked downgrade
Pages 5.2.2 has a few improvements but has had over 110 features removed and is buggy.
Sooner or later you will not be able to open a file or have it damaged in some way and it has a complex obscure file format largely incompatible with everything else, so you will not be able to rescue the contents of your file. If Pages or some third party server/eMail don't trash your file, eventually Apple will do it for you as it did when it released Pages 5 last September. I recommend using Pages '09 for the time being whilst you look for viable alternatives, some are here already and some are on the way.

How do I create an Lightroom HTML Gallery and preserve the - in the file name?
The hyphen (-) is more search engine friendly, so I label all my photos using hyphens (-) to separate the keywords in the file name
Here's a sample file name - it's for the "Guess Where Berkeley" flickr site
    guess-where-berkeley-serkes-xx-s-curve.jpg
I created a Lightroom HTML Gallery and posted it to the following link.
    http://www.berkeleyhomes.com/tests/lightroom/lightroom-test-1/
Though it looksl like the HML gallery shows the original file name in the web page, it looks like Adobe Lightroom modified each photo's file name by changing the - (hyphen) to an underscore (_)

InDesign's interactive PDF support is a small subset of what you can do in Acrobat Profesional.
I think you probably want to create a button (or change an existing button) in Acrobat Pro that causes Acrobat to close the document -- that should be analagous to "exitting the CD." I assume your autorun file is opening the PDF in Adobe Reader? You have not included it and are not specific, so it is tough to say.
I believe in Acrobat Javascript you can close the document with this.closeDoc(). You'll probaly need to ask on the Acrobat forums (possiby Acrobat Scripting) for more detail.

  • Using lightroom 5.6 and Photoshop elements 12

When I am using Lightroom 5.6 and want to Edit In Photoshop the picture transfers over to PS but it won't allow me to use layers.  How can I fix this?

Usually that means that lightroom sent over the photo in 16 bits/channel and you want 8 bits/channel in order to use layers in photoshop elements.
After you open the image from lightroom into photoshop elements you can go Image>Mode and click on 8 bits/channel
or in the Lightroom Preferences (Edit)>External Editing set the Bit Depth to 8 bits/component

  • Integration between Lightroom 4.2 and PS Elements 11.0

I am using Lightroom 4.2 and PS Elements 11.0. Clicking "Edit in" in LR  when I have selected at least two photos, I get as bottom menu item "Open as layers in Photoshop...". When selecting this item PS Elem. nicely starts up but after waiting for a while no layers are created. Same applies to the HDR and Panorama options. The only LR menu item working is the one moving to the PS Elem editor sec. After carrying out editing of the file(s) in PS Elem and saving (as) there is only the option to include the edited file in the PS Elem catalog (while the version set option is "greyed out"). In the normal Photoshop (CS versions) the edited file is nicely included in the LR catalog. I now have to follow a cumbersome route by importing the file from within LR. Another issue is when 16 bit files are loaded into Elements; there is no warning that layers can only be generated/worked on  in 8 bit mode.
Yet another, small LR issue, is that when in library mode moving from the center thumbnail grid/pane to the left Navigator, etc and right Histogram, etc. panes, the cursor changes into a double headed arrow passing the separation line and but does not turn back into the cursor (mode). Only moving fast through the separation line or "going over the top" passing along the top menu items helps
Obviously anyone with some suggestion as how to solve/circumvent the issues above?

Photoshop Elements does not support layes with 16-bit files. Additionally, there is no HDR function in Photoshop Elements. You should be getting an error letting you know this is the case when you try from Lightroom.
These menu options are designed to be used with Photoshop, not Photoshop Elements and would normally be greyed out. Have you had a version of Photoshop install previously? When looking at the Edit In menu, what does it say at the top? Does it say "Open in Adobe Photoshop Elements..."?
Saving the file should automatically import it into Lightroom, even if you use the option to add it to the Elements Organizer as well.
As for the cursor not changing back to normal after crossing over the panel dividing line (which allows you to grow or shrink the panels) is rather curious.
All of these issues could be caused by corrupt settings files. Deleting these while the applications are closed will cause them to be recreated at next launch (with default settings). I would suggest doing this will all Adobe preferences (not just PSE and LR). Where they are stored depends on what OS you are working on.

  • Exposure problem with Lightroom 4 CS5 and Raw 6.7

    Hi all
I have recently upgraded from Lightroom 3.6 to the new Lightroom 4 and am genrally pretty happy with it, I tend to use it along with photoshop CS5 extended and also imagenomic Portraiture, but I have found an annoying little problem in doing this and something that I never suffered with when using Lightroom 3.6 and it is this...
when I take an image from Lightroom 4 and click Edit image in Photoshop CS5 and then use Imageonmic to soften skin etc all seems to work well I then carry out any touching up within Photoshop and once finished save it back to lightroom for any final tweaks etc which is fine and all works smoothly, except once I have saved it back to Lightroom the exposure has been pushed up about 3-4 stops at least , meaning I then have to pull it down again and this can sometimes result in extra editing I could do with out. now I know its not the end of the world and is probably just a bug that I'm hoping will be sorted within Lightroom 4 but I just wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem, is it a bug or am I doing something wrong? (although I'm doing the same with Lighroom 4 as i used to do with LIghtroom 3.6 and that worked fine)
Oh one more thing I should mention to get lightroom 4 and CS5 to work properly together I had to go into the Adobe Labs site and download the Camera RAW 6.7 software for CS5 so it could also be a bug here i guess.

There have been several posts over on the Lightroom forum, and other non-Adobe forums also, about this issue: it seems that there's a bug in ACR 6.7RC which causes the image to be over-expose, compared with the setting applied using PV2012 in LR. I guess this is the kind of thing a Release Candidate is supposed to flag up! I was all set to upgrade my own ACR to ensure that PS would recognise my LR4 edits (I normally avoid RC versions and wait for the final), but all the reports of this problem have stopped me from doing so.
In the meantime, best option so far as I'm aware is to process the image in LR (you get the option when you choose to edit in PS), meaning that it does all the rendering before passing it over to PS (otherwise, ACR handles the conversion of the raw file into TIFF). This does however mean that smart-objects and so on are temporarily out of the equation.
I'm sure this will all be resolved pretty soon.
Edit: in fact, one of the posts I mentioned is about ten posts down in this very forum: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/974963?tstart=0

  • Ask for a download link for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 Student and Teacher Edition.

I bought an Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 Student and Teacher Edition from the campus. It only comes with the product code on the card without the installation CD.
Because the software downloaded from the official website don't accept the serial number registered for the student version, I am wondering where could I download the older version that accept the student serial number.
    Thank you.

If the software you downloaded from the Adobe Updates page, what did you mean by this statement?
“Because the software downloaded from the official website don't accept the serial number registered for the student version”

You don't need to have Lightroom 3 and 4 installed on your computer to install Lightroom 5.  Just install Lightroom 5 and input your serial number for 3 in the previous version box and your serial number for 5 in the upgrade box.

  • Lightroom 2.3 and Camera Raw 5.3 Available - Note from Adobe

Lightroom 2.3 and Camera Raw 5.3 are now available as release candidates on Adobe Labs.

    Regards,
    Tom Hogarty
    Adobe Systems

    Hi All:
based on the good work of Dorin above (post #19), he did a timeline of various releases of Lightroom from Adobe and it shows that from "version x RC" to "final release version" was around 1 month.
as it is already exactly one month now, it must not be too much longer till they will release the LR2.3 Final Version.
As for what Robert said in post #23, well, there's never any "guarantee" on a problem-free piece of software, or, for that matter, anything one purchases or anything in life, actually!! Yet, one can make educated extrapolations, right? From the range of comments thus far on LR2.3RC, it appears that it is the best version yet of LR2.x. This leads to the conclusion that it is probably a "good bet" that this version will likely lead to the least amount of issues, right? Maybe not "zero issues", but most likely, the least amount of issues from the various LR2.x versions available.
So by waiting, say, merely 1-3 more weeks approximately, i can go directly from LR1.4 (which i've been using for many months) to LR2.3 Final Release Version. It seems like it is a prudent and conservative move or plan.
What do the good folks here think, please?
thanks in advance for helping me to mull this over. If i were a PC expert, i'd be thinking about this less. as i'm just a somewhat competent user, and not a whiz, i thought that a bit of care and planning it out intelligently can possibly reduce frustrations later.
