Lightroom 2.6 license fails

I have been using Lightroom from version 1. I upgraded to version 2 when it came out and have been updating to minor releases all along up to v2.5. My OS and machine through this time was Windows XP on and HP workstation. Recently I 'upgraded' to Windows 7 on the same HP workstation, using a clean install of Win7, so I am in the process of reinstalling the software I used on XP.
After installing Lightroom v2.6 on Windows 7, I use the Help/Lightroom Registration menu to enter the original license code for Lightroom v1.0 (it asks this because I had upgraded from v1.0 to v2.0). The v2.0 license code is already filled in with a green check mark beside. When I fill in my v1.0 license code, a green check mark shows and I click next. I fill in all the registration information, then click Finish. No errors ever occur.
If I then go back into the Help menu under Registration, it appears as if I have never registered because it says "There are 23 days left in your trial period. When it ends, you must license Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to continue using it."
Anyone come across this problem and a way to resolve it? I wonder if its a Win7 issue or a Lightroom issue.
TIA
David

Before you resort to a regedit, try deleting the Lightroom registaration file(s). For some reason I have two located as follows:
(System Drive)/ProgramData/Adobe/Lightroom
and
Users/(UserName)/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Lightroom
The file is "Lightroom 2.0 Registration.lrreg".

  • The desktop on which I had Lightroom and PhotoshopCC installed failed and I no longer have access to it. How do I deactivate the software on those machines so that I can reinstall it on my new Mac?

Question: The desktop on which I had Lightroom and PhotoshopCC installed failed and I no longer have access to it. How do I deactivate the software on those machines so that I can reinstall it on my new Mac?

Absolutely - but I had no idea there were two versions. When I got my new laptop I just went to the Adobe site to download and install LR5. It never asked if I had a license; it just directed me to install CC to start a trial which I thought I could license after downloading. Several sessions and many hours of looking through the forums and Google for an answer I never ran across anything that made this distinction. I still haven't found a path from www.adobe.com that would get me to the standalone download page (it's probably there, wasn't obvious to me) and looking at the download page it doesn't make any CC/standalone distinction.
There are many places I could have gotten a hint - for instance the license could be tagged "stand alone edition", the CC-version could recognize the stand-alone key and either accept it or produce a more meaningful error message, or the download site or the CC app could ask if I had previously purchased a key, etc.
It was my error to assume this was a deactivation problem, but it looked the same as a previous deactivation problem with Photoshop.
In any event, thank you for your help.

  • Lightroom 5 installation keeps failing

    Lightroom 5 installation keeps failing.
Solution mentioned here doesn't work, because my default installation language is English. The installation process stops and shows there's an error but doesn't actually show the error message. The system language on my laptop is Russian.
I had a trial installed previously and now need to activate it with my Creative Cloud membership but it's been about two weeks since I purchased it and it still doesn't work!

    Hi,
I’m sorry to hear that! Not sure why it worked for me but not for you. I’d like to check the steps you made just to make sure…
    What OS or you using?
I removed Lightroom from Creative Cloud. – So there is no error showing.
I downloaded the: Lightroom_5_LS11_win_5_2 from the link.
Unpacked it to the desktop (any folder will do).
Then I navigated to the folder and installed Lightroom_5_LS11_win_5_2.
Re opened CC and clicked install. It then install the 5.3 update.
If you followed all these steps and still have no luck then A, let me know. And B, you may have to wait for Adobe to fix the issue.
I’ll troll the internet for you too.
There are still more things we can try, so don't give up!
I love Lightroom and feel your pain!
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Lightroom 5 Perpetual License with Creative Cloud Membership

I own Lightroom 5 perpetual license and I also have Creative Cloud membership with Photoshop CC. For the latest Lightroom 5.6 updates, I tried to update within Lightroom, but a page shows up and ask me to do it thru Creative Cloud application. Once I update Lightroom thru Creative Cloud, I noticed that my license type becomes Creative Cloud which never shows in System Info in version 5.5 (I am using Mac). The Serial Number in System Info still remain the same. In such case, I am wondering if the Lightroom's Develop Module will be disabled if I cease the Creative Cloud membership.
    Please help, thanks!
    HHL

No, you won't lose anything. Your catalog, and preferences, and previews, will all remain in place. Just do it. I did it a couple of days ago and it was very straightforward and painless. My Nik plug-ins were still in place as well as a printer plug-in that came with my printer. The installer put an icon on my desktop. I expected to have to locate my catalog. Didn't even have to do that. Lightroom started and took me to right where I left off, everything still in place.

  • Hi, I live in Panama and I want to know how I can buy online the lightroom stand alone license

Hi I live in Panama and I want to know how can I buy online the lightroom stand alone license
    thanks

The only contract-free iPhone 6 that is unlocked is the T-Mobile unit sold directly by Apple.  That is a GSM iPhone.  If the 4G/LTE bands are the same in Panama it should work.  But check with your carrier to see which system they use (CDMA or GSM) and can you just purchase a nano-sim to use in the iPhone 6.

  • Lightroom and acrobat pro fail to install

I used the CCPLauncher and deployed using an .msi photoshop, dreamweaver, indesign and a few others but lightroom and acrobat pro fail to install. I recreated the packages a few times but no joy, anybody else come across this?
    Thanks

Did you run ExceptionDeployer.exe --workflow=install --mode=pre for Acrobat and ExceptionDeployer.exe --workflow=install --mode=post for everything else?

  • Trying to upgrade lightroom - but license fails

Need to upgrade lightroom 4.3 to be able to process "raw" files from a new Canon Camera that just came available on lightroom 5.7 - used the upgrade in my version and downloaded the new one but my license number will not activate it. Do I have to purchase this program again in order to get this simple upgrade for my raw files? If so, does Adobe not offer some kind of discount?? Any advice out there will help.

you can update lr 4.3 ( http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/) for free, but major version upgrades are not free.
you can purchase lr 5 (contact adobe support, https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html) and update to lr 5.7 Lightroom 5.7 now available.

  • Lightroom 5.2 "assertion failed" on start-up; prior LR 4 remedies not working

    Hi folks,
I'm getting "assertion failed" when trying to start LR 5.2.  Looking through old threads I've tried the remedy suggested for LR 4, i.e. renaming the .agprefs file and letting LR build a new one (which it does, verified in Windows Explorer) but I still get the same error.  LR asks me to enter my country, then the license key (which is pre-filled), but clicking "Finish" takes me immediately to "assertion failed".  Double-clicking the .lrcat file in Windows Explorer produces the same sequence.
LR was working fine last time I used it, 6 days ago.  I've added nothing to the computer since; there are no other or earlier copies of LR on the computer.  Lenovo Thinkpad T420, Win 7 Pro 64-bit.
    Help!
    Jon
UPDATE: I just tried it again so I could write down the license key in case I needed to remove and re-install LR - and it started OK.  All I did differently this time was enter my name and e-mail address in the "Register now?" screen, then hit "Finish"; I didn't even click "register now".  Weird.

A work-around that I am using is to run Lightroom as an administrator on my Windows 7 system (right-click on the icon and choose run as administrator).  Everything then works ok.  I also needed to run as an administrator to be able to update some plug-ins I was using.  I fixed the plug-in update issues by changing the permissions on plug-ins folder.  I suspect that it is a similar issue with the maps.
I have not figured out what folder or files need to have the permissions altered to stop Lightroom from working in the unelevated state but if someone reading this knows please share.  I saw some posts related to the same issue but on Macs but the Windows configuration is different.

  • On how many pc's may I install Lightroom with one license?

I'm planning to purchase Lightroom 5, but I need to know on how many pc's I can install the software when having a single license. Note that I will be the only user, but I do need it to work on both my desktop pc, as well as on my laptop.
How many pc's is the limit?

Yes the license is cross platform PC or Mac. Limit to two instalations with one in use at any point in time. No activate/deactivate Like other Photoshop applications you just monitor your own use you can uninstall from one computer and install on another as many times you need.

  • Lightroom 5.7 Installer Fails on Win 8.1 - Windows compatibility reports incompatible

Have had a case open since 15.2 and getting nowhere (0186366824). Was wondering if anybody here has encountered this issue and resolved?
New PC, clean install of Windows 8.1. My old 3.6 version of LR returned an installer failure and was advised it was incompatible and I needed to upgrade. 5.7 now behaves the same.
To date I have been instructed to downland full versions of LR - 5.5, 5.6 and 5.7. All fail at the installer running as Admin.
The last direction from support was a little scary considering I own numerous Adobe products:-
Please follow these steps to remove all Adobe folders from your computer and then retry to install it back:
    Remove Adobe Folders:-
    > C:\Program Files\Adobe*
    > C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe*
    > C:\Program Files\Common Files\Macrovision Shared
    > C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe*
    > C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe*
    > C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Macrovision Shared
    > (Hidden) C:\ProgramData\Adobe*
    > C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet
    > C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\
    Roaming\Adobe*
    > C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\com.adobe.*
    > C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Adobe*
    > C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe*
    > C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe*
    Remove Adobe folders:-
Registry Editor (Type "Regedit" in Run windows)
    > Go to Hkey Local Machine\Software\Adobe
    > Hkey Current User\Software\Adobe
Now install Lightroom 5 from the below mentioned link:
      http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5741
And then Enter the serial Key of Lightroom 5 and then Lightroom 1
It will install and activate the product.

    Thank you very much.
I did uninstall Adobe Air, Adobe Reader XI and another Adobe product, rebooted, and after this the installation was possible with no problems!

  • Lightroom trial installs then fails to run

Downloaded and installed Lightroom 4.2 on Mac 10.7.5. Already successfully running Adobe CS5.5 suite but Adobe Lightroom fails.
LR opens but then it immediately displays this error message: "Error occurred when attempting to change modules." It isn't possible to get past the message because it won't close. I am able to ignore it and select options from the menu bar but none of the choices on the drop-down menus are selectable. LR simply doesn't respond.
I have uninstalled LR (and all of its associated files) and reinstalled it without success. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Adobe Lightroom 1.0 Licensing Question

Does anyone have any idea how Adobe is going to license Lightroom? Meaning, will you be able to buy one license and use it on both Windows and Mac OS X? I am thinking probably not, but am interested as this is how competitors like Bibble Pro (BibbleLabs) and Capture One Pro (PhaseOne) license their products. They allow you to install on both operating systems with one license thought stipulate that the license is for 1 user only. It would be wonderful if Adobe will license Lightroom the same way so I don't have to put out twice the money to run it on my 2 different OS's.

Yes, it is in the FAQ. Cross platform One CD/Download. or two of the same Platform it is a license for Two!

  • Lightroom stand-alone licensing problem

    Hi all,
I've been using Lightroom 5.6 on a trial basis for a couple of weeks and I want to go ahead and purchase a stand-alone license. So I downloaded the "full" version of LR from Adobe and started it up (no problems reading my existing LR catalogue). Then I get the "Welcome to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom" dialog. Two options: "I have a serial number and want to license Lightroom" or "I want to try". So I select the first option, then underneath it says "Need a serial number?" with a "Buy" button. At the bottom under "Country/Region" I select "Canada" where I'm from. When I click on "Buy" my browser opens. For just two seconds a screen appears at the URL http://www.adobe.com/store_selector/storeselector.html, where it looks like I'm supposed to identify my country/region again. But immediately the browser is redirected to the Product Catalog (http://www.adobe.com/ca/products/catalog.html). But here there is no option to buy a stand alone license. If I click on the Lightroom link it just takes me to the general product info page, with no option to buy except from Creative Cloud (which I don't want).
Anyone know how to buy a stand-alone license for Lightroom?
    Thanks,
    Alex

Go to your Adobe website (Canada), MENU, All Products and select Lightroom (Full or Upgrade - If you have a previous copy).
