Lightroom 2.7 issue importing CR2 files

I have been using Lightroom 2.7 with my Canon G10 raw images successfully for several years, but I just had the G10 replaced with a G12 by Canon. When I downloaded my photos the first time, and tried to import them, I get errors tell me they failed the import. They are CR2 format files.
Any ideas on what is going on? I can view the raw images in the Canon software fine.

Your new camera wasn't supported in Lightroom 2.7. You will either have to upgrade Lightroom, or else use the DNG converter 7.1 to convert your raw images to digital negative. Then you can open those DNG files with Lightroom 2.7. The version of Lightroom you are using is really obsolete. I think you would find that you get much better results if you upgraded to Lightroom 4.1. But, that is your choice.

  • Lightroom 5.4 not importing cr2 files  over a network?

    Well, this is unfortunate.
Brand new iMac, just out of the box, OS updated.
Brand new Adobe CC subscription, everything updated.
Neither Lightroom 5.4 or Photoshop CC can import CR2 files stored on my NAS.
The Mac connects to the NAS just fine. I can see the photos and copy them to my new PC, but can't import.
I know LR doesn't allow storing CATALOGS on a network, but I've never had problems with the original raw files stored there.
    Any advice?

    Solved it!
I'm not sure why it makes a difference, but once I mounted the network folder and gave it an alias on the desktop, LR5.4 was able to import.

  • Lightroom 5.4 not importing cr2 files

LR5 will not recognize nor convert the CR2 to DNG files.
Bridge cs6 will recognize the CR2 and convert them to DNG when using Adobe Bridge CS6 Auto Downloader.
Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 does not recognize CR2 raw files even when set to 4.1 in preferences.
    I'm using a Mac Book Pro OS X 10.0.4
LR5 was downloaded 8-30-2014 and it updated.
Any suggestions to correct this? Thank you.

Hmm - it's taking me to my copy.com account, instead of your file - somethin' not quite right (and I think it's the link you posted - format looks wrong to me..).
Will this link take you to a file for download at copy.com?
    https://copy.com/0p79pFlggJoV
I think the copy.com download links always have the same format:
    https://www.copy.com/{12-char-code}
    I could be wrong.

  • I am trying to import CR2 files from my canon 450D.  Lightroom 5 won't let me. Help please!!

I am trying to import CR2 files from my canon 450D into Lightroom 5.  Lightroom says 'preview unavailable for this file'.  I cannot get past this.  I have tried importing directly from the camera, and also from an external hard drive that I managed to download the photos onto.  I am new to Lightroom so any simple suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!  Also I am working on a Mac.  Thanks!

I have a 450D and the files open just fine in LR5.
Is this your first attempt at using LR or your first attempt at developing CR2 files?
It sounds like your raw files may be corrupted or there is some permission problem that is preventing LR from reading the files.
Can you upload one of these unrecognized files to http://www.dropbox.com/ and post a public download link to it, for others to test?
Also try copying just one CR2 file to your internal drive and see if that imports, in case there is some problem with the permissions on the external drive.  Just use Finder to copy the file, not LR, in case that is an issue.

  • Importing *.CR2 files to Lightroom 3.6 - support of Canon EOS 70D

    Hi,
try to import *.CR2 files from my new camera Canon EOS 70D to Lightroom 3.6, but it is not supporting format. What to do? Can anyone help me. Thanks a lot for your answers, yours Petr.

The DNG files are mainly supported by Adobe software.  The CR2 files would be for any software that knows how to deal with 70D raw files and so the right answer for you depends on whether you feel you’ll want to use the raw data in other software or not, and what you feel you want decades from now if Adobe or Canon no longer exist.  Personally, I’d just upgrade to LR 5.2 and not worry about DNGs, but I also already have compatible hardware so  am not hit by having to upgrade my OS or hardware.

  • Why does not Lightroom allow me to import RAW files from my Canon 5D Mark III?

Why does not Lightroom allow me to import RAW files from my Canon 5D Mark III?
Error message that it does not support cr. file

    Which version of Lightroom?
As Hal points out, if it's pre v 4.1, you can't expect an old version of the software to know what to do with a camera that didn't even exist when the software was released.
Given how many times a day this same issue comes up, maybe it's time Adobe changed the error message to something like "your camera is too old to be supported by this version of Lightroom. Please upgrade" or similar...

  • Lightroom 4 does not import RAW files from D610

I've just purchased Nikon D610, and my Lightroom 4 is not importing RAW files anymore. What is the problem?

The current version of LR 5 is 5.7 so I’d guess LR 6 will be out at some point later this year, in the next few months.  If money’s no object then upgrade to LR 5, now and to LR 6 in a few months.  If you’ll be very upset to learn you’ve paid $80 to upgrade and then need to pay another upgrade fee for LR 6 then maybe wait and do the DNG thing for a few months, and then upgrade from LR4 to LR6.
The other concern is whether your OS is new enough.  I’d suggest you download the latest LR 5.7.1 update and run that in trial mode for a few weeks—you have 30 days, to make sure your computer can handle it, before spending the money and finding out you need a new computer, first.
The other thing to consider is the $10/month Photography Plan subscription which gets you the most up-to-date versions of Lightroom and Photoshop as long as you keep paying.  Since you have your old LR4 serial number, you can decide to cancel the subscription after a year and use the LR4 serial number to buy the LR 6 upgrade, then.  This assumes that LR 6 will be available as a serial-number-licensed product, still.
The latest LR 5.7.1 update is here:

The lens profiles added to each version are listed here:

  • PSE6.0 organizer import CR2 files results in 'no preview'

When I import Canon CR2 files from my camera using the PSE Organizer (Windows "import with PSE6") I often get no RAW preview/thumbnails; a thumbnail is created for some of the imported RAW pictures but most of them not. When I have opened the picture (camera raw 5.3 start by double click, and close) in most cases a thumbnail is created and displayed. This shouldn't be necessary, I suppose ????
Does someone know this bug and how to fix it?

So, now I have to buy PSE 7? Isn't there a cheap(er) upgrade possibility? After all, it is a bug in PSE6. PSE7 costs almost as much as a 'new' / first install version, isn't it.
I would love to have the latest version, mostly not for the new features but mainly for bug fixes and/or performance enhancements.

  • Issue importing ProRes files

Just bought Premiere CS6.  Have an issue importing ProRes files.  Have searched a dozen forums and FAQ pages, and not got a clear or functional answer.  I'm trying to find a phone number for Adobe Product support.  It is almost evil.  Every page takes me to either a FAQ page, or this forum, or back to the page I started at, never arriving at the product support number that is promised with the purchase of the product.
    Anyone got a suggestion?
I've already posted my issue on this forum several days ago, but received no answer as of yet.
When I try to import a ProRes file into Premiere CS6 (latest ver.) all that comes in is the audio track.
I've come across rumours and hints in various forums that suggests I should be able to import and edit ProRes in CS6, just not export ProRes.  Which is fine.  It allows me to do an edit on a Windows platform (in the studio where I'm working) and then I can bring the project back to Mac and output the master as ProRes.
    Help please!!
    Ben

I modified the title to reflect the issue your having sine it sounds like a phone # is no longer your priority now. I'm glad installing QuickTime fixed it for you. It is listed as a system requirements and we do recommend having it to avoid situations like yours. Many have worked for some time without it with little or nor problems.
As for the support number, I'm not sure what Number that would be either, but it seems like customers usually get good answers in a timely manner just by being on here. Welcome.

  • LR4.3 does not show previously imported CR2 files (5D mark III) by trial version

LR4.3 does not show previously imported CR2 files taken using 5D mark III by trial version.
When tried to synchronize the files not show when browsing, the import window comes up. All the Jpeg files, Raw files are seen in the window. None of them are highlighted nor selectable. LR is assuming that those files are already imported but if imported they are being shown for browsing or editing

Maybe you have set a Filter in LR. Press Ctrl-L once or twice to turn it off.
Maybe you don't have "All Photographs" selected in the Catalog Panel on the left.

  • Import issue with CR2 file, Lightroom 5.3 & OS X Mavericks

    Hi there,
I really hope someone can help. I've just switched laptops and installed LR 5.3 on to OS X Mavericks. Upon import I get an error message saying that the CR2 files are unreadable. So I took the same card and tried to import them on the old cranky laptop that is running Lightroom 5.2 and on OS X Mountain Lion and it imported without a problem (12 photographs took a long time but they were all readable and in LR) This is crazy frustrating. Does anyone know of a way around it? Have I done something wrong? The camera is a Canon 6D and Ive had no issues prior to this with Lightroom 5 on the old lap top.
    Thank you!!

    Kim,
When LR tells you the file cannot be read, what it really means is that the file cannot be written to the folder that you specified for your Copy or Move operation on import. (Yeah, it's a stupid message.)
Generally, this means that the folder you're writing to is set so that your user ID doesn't have permission to write there.
Try repairing permissions and make sure you have write access.
    Hal

  • Why am I unable to import CR2 files into Lightroom ?

When I try to import a CR2 file I receive a response that the files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom.
I have downloaded the latest version.
    I'm using a Canon 7D Mark II

Click on help and at the bottom of the context menu you should see:
    About Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.1
    That is the latest version.
Otherwise, if you installed through a Creative Cloud subscription launch CC desktop and install the latest version of Lightroom from there.
If you have a stand-alone purchased version of LR5 go to:
    Help >> Check for Updates
    Install 5.7.1

  • My lightroom 4 will not import my files from my compact flash card . It has been working for years with out fail but now there is no import previews and it says the files are not recognized by raw format support in LR

I have lightroom 4 I've had it for years and it has imported my raw files from my CF card without issue . Now when I plug in my CF card to import new files it says import operations not performed and there are no image previews . When I continue by hitting "import" I get a pop up window that states "the files are not recognized by raw format support in Light Room"

Don't feel too bad.  If the D4S has as many menus and custom functions as my Canon 5D Mark iii its easy to get messed up.
If you downloaded from the link I gave you it will be Lr 5.4.   The link was just to show you when the D4S was supported.  The newest version is 5.7.1 and can be downloaded here.  Don't know your OS so you will have to pick Windows or Mac.   Product updates
On my Mac I just run the downloaded installer program (its a full version and not an small update) and it installs the new version and erases the old version.  If you are on Windows you will have to get help from a windows person.
