Lightroom 2.7 slideshow question

Hi, is it possible to have Lighrtoom create a slideshow where TWO images are displayed per slide? If so, yippee!! How do I accomplish this? What do I edit?
Thanks for your help,
DLMST

Yes. In the print module use Contact Sheet/Grid if the images are to be different. The limitation is that they will appear in same size cells. From the Print Job panel select a file resolution of 100ppi and a custom file dimension to determine the final size of the image.  EG. 100ppi @ 14.0x10.5 yeilds a 1440px x 1050px (15 in laptop)
You can print a batch by reordering them first so the image will appear in order on the slide. Or you can print them individually.  To make things easier, set Auto Import on and target the folder you will be saving to. Also create a smart Collection to pickup any files with the name you save the "prints" as, such as  - slideshow.
Now that the collections are visible in the slideshow module you only need to use the Print and Slideshow modules to accomplish a two-up slide.  LR3 makes things a little more flexible by allowing background colors on your slides and variable image sizes on one page.
3rd party apps are wonderful, but cost more money. Your needs may justify that but for the occasional slideshow I think LR will do just fine.

  • Lightroom 5.2 Slideshow "Export Video" over exposed

    Hello,  In using Lightroom 5.2 Slideshow (current version), I can export PDF and Jpeg versions of the Slideshow which look good.  When I add music and Export Video slideshow the exposure goes up by +1.5 to +2.  Help!
    I have gone to "Preferences", "Presets", "Store presets with this catalog" (checked)
    Thanks,
    Mike84

    The video on SMugMug looks very good on my Windows 7 system using both IE 9 and FireFox 24, so it appears there is nothing wrong with the LR video. Check your Grapics adapter's control panel. I'm running an Nvidia graphics card- Right click on a blank area of the Desktop and select Nvidia Control panel, or whatever graphics adapter panel you have.
    Try setting the 'Video' section of your panel back to 'Restore Defaults,' or do it manually. In addition, there is a know issue with Nvidia drivers that causes black levels to look washed-out. If using an Nvida card folow the settings shown in the screenshot below and set the 'Dynamic Range' to 'Full (0-255)' and NOT 'Limited (16-235).' Make sure the Conrol panel Video section Gamma and Color settings are at their default settings.
    If still having this issue download the latest driver from Nvidia's or AMD's website and install it. If still having the issue provide your OS version, graphics adapter model, and graphics driver version.

  • Lightroom Slideshow Question regarding DVD copying.

    Greetings!
    I've just created a new slideshow with music which I've copied to a DVD+R as well as DVD+RW. All seems to go well but the music skips intermittently and I'm not able to figure out what I may being doing that would cause this issue. Photos are shown as they should be.

    I'm having the same problem.  During the slide fade transmissions, my music skips.  It is ok on the mp4, but when I burn to DVD I get the skips during playback.  Has anyone helped you with this or did you figure it out?

  • Does Lightroom 5 convert slideshows to HTML5?

    I am looking at buying Photoshop Lightroom 5, but only if it makes or converts slideshows to HTML5.
    Can this be done.
    Question edited by: Ivan David

    Actually, yes - sortof: a new feature of Lightroom 5 supports "correcting" aspect ratio (see manual lens corrections in develop module) which can make people look skinnier all over - i.e. it's not "selective" (you can't target body regions, or individual persons) like the advanced tools in Photoshop (e.g. liquify), but if it's all you need..

  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 (Student/Teacher): Questions before purchasing

    Hi,
    I'm considering purchasing Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 (Student/teacher version).  I have several questions I was hoping to get answered before I do so.  I'll list them here...
    Does the Student/Teacher version have all the same capabilities and functionality as the standard version of this product?
    The software is being offered as a download by a [reputable] 3rd party vendor.  Can the software be downloaded to more than one computer in my household?  (The same vendor does offer a hard-copy version for a mere $2 more, and I'm wondering if I shouldn't just buy that one to be safe.)
    One of the primary tasks I need to do with my digital photos most often is resize them, in large batches.  Does Lightroom 5 have the capability to do that?
    And finally, is anyone familiar with purchasing Student/Teacher software?  Is my email address with .edu extension enough to satisfy eligibility requirements?
    Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer any or all of these questions!
    -Steve

    Lightroom and Photoshop or two completely different animals in a lot of ways. It isn't a question of either/or, but rather when to use the Lightroom and when to turn to Photoshop.The differences are too great to go into a detailed explanation on a forum such as this. I use both Lightroom and Photoshop. Lightroom is my starting point for all of my work, and I do easily 90% of my work using Lightroom. But sometimes there are things that Lightroom can't do, or Photoshop just does better.
    Without going into a lot of detail, Lightroom does not modify the pixels in your image file. All changes and adjustments are stored in what is called the catalog, which is really a database. When you want copies of those images to share that include all of the Lightroom adjustments you export copies for that purpose. Because of this approach to editing, there are some things that Lightroom cannot do. That's where Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or some other editor comes into play.
    Looking back, it's easy to start editing using Lightroom. The thing I had a hard time getting my head around at first was the need to export copies of images to share with others, or to send to a lab, etc. As soon as you have that concept ingrained into your workflow I think Lightroom can be a very powerful tool. But it won't do everything, stitching panoramas, removing objects from images, and other such tasks are easier performed with other software. I'm not saying this to discourage you from Lightroom, but rather to encourage you to consider purchasing Lightroom with another product such as Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. There is "interconnection" between the two programs built into Lightroom that makes the process of going back and forth between the two very simple.
    You are probably scratching your head right now wondering what I'm talking about. I apologize. Here is a link to a good set of videos you might want to watch. Then, hopefully it will help you make a better decision.

  • Iphoto slideshow questions

    I am running iphoto 9.5.1 with OSX 10.9.3 I am making a slideshow that I will eventually export to an external HD. When I make a title for the first picture it does not save for some reason...I have to constantly redue it. Why?
    I don't see an option to save the slideshow and it seems to be auto-saving which is great, but that first picture's title won't save.
    Last question...when I have completed the slideshow can I just drag and drop it into my external HD?
    thanks

    , but it only works on my computer!
    Where do you want to play it?  If you want to create a video DVD that will play on TV sets with DVD players you need to use a video DVD authoring applicaiton like iDVD. Here's how:
    Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
    Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
    Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
    Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
    To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
    Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
    The following is important only if you don't already have iDVD on your Mac:
    If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
    Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
    If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
    Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
    This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
    You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • IDVD Slideshow Question

    I exported an iPhoto slideshow to iDVD. I used the Ken Burns effect. I've got around 200 photos and it plays great, no problems but....
    heads have been cut off on three slides. Can I edit the individual slides right in iDVD or do I have to go back to iPhoto and then export all over again? That would be very time consuming.
    17 iMac FP 1.25GHz, & PowerPC G3   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   iDVD 5, iPhoto 5

    Sorry but you have to go back to iPhoto for edits. If double-clicking a slideshow just plays the slideshow and doesn't bring up the slideshow editor, the slideshow may have been created in iPhoto. Slideshows created in iPhoto are sent to iDVD as QuickTime movies, which means you can't edit them.
    If you want to make a change to an iPhoto slideshow, make the changes in iPhoto, send the slideshow to iDVD again, and replace the old slideshow with the new one.
    Tip: In map view, slideshows created in iPhoto have a movie icon in the upper-left corner. iDVD slideshows have a slideshow icon.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • IWeb Slideshow Question

    I have the following questions:
    1. I am using the photo template and slide show
    option. Within the slide show window is it possible
    to:
    a. maximise the slide show window in order to
    view each photo to the maximum window size
    b. I would like to disable the reflection option
    for photos viewed within the slide show window.
    c. is it possible to skip the photo template page
    and go direct to the slide show window?
    d. is it possible to create a scroll bar with the
    thumbnails?
    thanks so much. I appreciate any advise you can give
    me.

    Thank you so much.
    I had success with:
    - the reflections, these are now gone.
    - I managed to include the direct link to the slideshow page
    However, I spent some time with the settings for the slideshow window
    I think I might be doing something wrong as nothing changes.
    Also if I bypass the photo page template is it still possible to modify the settings for the slideshow window. I made these changes after I published the site to .Mac.
    Here is the section of my photo,js file:
    function startSlideshow()
    var url = slideshowURL;
    var slideshowWindowWidth = 1200;
    var slideshowWindowHeight = 1200;
    var options = slideshowWindowOptions();
    window.open(url, 'slideshowWindow', options);
    function startSlide(width, height, index)
    var url = slideshowURL;
    var options = slideshowWindowOptions(height, width);
    var slideIndexParameter = ((index < 0) ? '' : '?slideIndex='+index);
    window.open(url+slideIndexParameter, 'slideshowWindow', options);
    any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Bridge cs3 preview and slideshow question

    Hi
    i have a question
    does bridge cs3 need cache (drive space) to preview a photo or to see my photo with the slideshow feature ?
    i mean does bridge need to render and store the photos in the database to let me see in the slideshow or browsing
    i don't talk about thumbs
    or does it on the fly?
    thanks

    If you don't need High Quality for thumbnails then select Quick Thumbnails in preferences.
    I think as soon as you point Bridge to a folder of images it goes to work caching the thumbnails and previews.  I'm using cs4, have forgotten how cs3 does it for quick thumbnails.  You could point Bridge to a new folder of jpegs and watch the rotating indicator status display at the bottom; and you might get more information by posting in the Bridge forum.

  • Poor performance in Lightroom 5 on Slideshow save as video (mp4)

    Installed Lightroom 5 upgrade.  On LR 4 I can export a 55 slideshow as MP4 with 1080p preset using all four cores on a win7-64 (Intel I7) in about 6-8 min (used 70-80% processor).  In LR5, the CPU never goes above 15% processor and takes 45-50 minutes. I can flip between the two (not at the same time) to test. Luckily, no catalog changes other than what the automatic conversion did.
    Interestingly, I see a ".aac" and ".m4v" in the destination directory during the rendering process (they eventually goes away and are replaced by the ".mp4" at the end of the rendering export process).
    Does anyone know why LR5 is not taking full advantage of the multi core CPU?  Any suggestions to improve performance in this area?Overall, its very disappointing.  I have to go back to LR4 to re-render the slideshows that eventually get exported to a DVD (but that's another story).
    Additional information, when I render the slideshow, it looks like LR4 exports using the native executable (no spawned subprocesses), but LR5 spawns a separate process to handle the export/rendering process.

    FWIW:
    Long time photograper, short time being serious about digital photography.
    My first Adobe product was Premier Elements 9 so my granddaughters and I could "learn video".  We are now on PrE11.
    Then my granddaughters wanted to learn some digital photography and the next two products were Photoshop Elements and Lightroom 4, now 5.
    All three will do slide shows, however Premier Elements 11 seems significantly superior.  It will load RAW and most any other file type, there are loads of multiple audio track options, there is easy "Ken Burns style" pan and zoom and it produces about any shareable output known from YouTube to Blu-Ray.
    Lightroom has a slightly hidden capability that makes PrE easy to set up.  Start with a new project specific folder, select everything you want in Lightroom, then export copies to the project folder and open a project in PrE.
    For evaluation, you can review a slide show of my visit to the Grand Canyon last spring.  There is a lot of Lightroom and gentle Nik HDR work it it.  https://vimeo.com/64474485

  • Lightroom 1.1 Slideshow Issues

    Hello,
    When I click the "play" arrow, or "Impromptu" key from the top tool bar, or "Play All" icon from the right hand of the screen, or any other attempt to get my slideshow to play, all I get is a black screen. I hit "escape", and it immediately goes back to the slideshow I created. If I click the "play" arrow in center screen, it is black inside the center, but I can see that the slideshow is actually "playing" because I see the number of the slide is changing, and at the correct rate (2.0 seconds, with 1.0 second fade). I have changed all settings everywhere and flaggings to try to "see" my slideshow, but just a black screen appears.
    The odd thing is that if I exit out of lightroom, and re-open the application, I can get the "play" arrow and "impromptu" button to work a couple times, then they stop working. So I have actually seen the slideshow work a couple times.
    If I export the slideshow and save it in Adobe as PDF, it actually saves my pictures, but I have to individually click the pictures in order to see them; there is no slideshow per se.
    Any help is appreciated. This is my first attempt at a slideshow so I'm hoping it is my fault, but I'm a little weary because I have gotten it to work a couples times, by pressing buttons that don't work other times. I'm at my wit's end here.
    Thanks,
    Mindy Lewis

    If you are on Windows (and most who experience this issue seem to be) ... try turning off hardware acceleration as a short term workaround:
    - right-click an empty area of your desktop, choose properties
    - click the Settings tab
    - click Advanced
    - click the Troubleshooting tab
    - set hardware acceleration to None
    - click OK to exit
    See if that makes a difference. An updated driver is the best solution, but in its absence this may do the trick.

  • Creating a slideshow: Questions and Issues

    Greetings Premiere Users-
    I am completely new to using Premiere. I have been using iMovie to create slideshows but am completely frustrated by the program's inner workings.
    I have my images and audio in bins and now beginning to connect the pieces but am running into some problems.
    1. I don't understand how to setup the number of slides to the length of audio. Upon opening the Preferences panel and selecting "General" it appears that I need to enter some value with respect to "Video Transition Default Duration of "30 Frames" and the Still Image Default Duration of "150 Frames". What I don't comprehend is if I have 397 seconds of audio and 129 still images and I want to space them across the audio, what values should I use?
    2. My current project has 129 images which currently extends beyond my video. I selected the images, chose "Speed Duration", and entered 3:00 which would put my images well within the audio. The problem is that the first so many images have a space between them rather than being contiguous like the second half of them. I did select the "ripple" checkbox as I have read should be selected.
    3. This slideshow is going to be seen on a projector, is there a recommended size that I should create this in, e.g. 800x600, etc...?
    Thanks, and sorry to overload all these questions at once.
    doug

    Hey Doug,
    1.)  I assume you're editing on a 30fps sequence.  So you have 397 seconds of audio, which is 397 x 30fps = 11,910 frames worth of audio.  So take 11,910 and divide by 129 (photos) = 92 frames per image.  So in the Premiere Pro preferences, change the frame number to 92 frames.  Keep in mind, this will only affect any future images that you import or create in Premiere once this change has been made.  So you will have to remove your photos from the project bin and re-import them for the timing change to take effect.
    2.)  By selecting the ripple edit, shifting trailing clips button, this should take care of your problem.  Were the images at different time durations, or were all of them the same.
    3.)  Regarding your projects resolution, you need to find out if you want this project to be a widescreen (16:9) or standard (4:3) ratio.  Personally I would stick with widescreen since this is how 99.9% of video productions are nowadays. If this is what you want, I would create a 720p project.  This is 1280x720 and will playback nicely on your 800x600 projector.  You obviously will have the letterbox effect, black bars on the top and bottom of your screen.  If you would rather fill the projector screen, you can create a custom project and manually enter in your resolution of 800x600 (this will only work is you're going to playback the video file from a computer and not a video DVD, as you may know, DVDs res is locked at 720x480 (NTSF).  You can set up the custom res when creating a new sequence.  Or to keep things a little simplier, just create a DV 720x480 4:3 project.
    Hope this helps.

  • Lightroom 4.1 Slideshow Skipping Issue

    I have tried creating a slideshow in Lightroom 4.1 and followed all of the necessary steps Adobe has provided. On computer the slideshow seems fine but ufortunately, when I burn the slideshow to a DVD for Television, the slides skip. I think it may have something to do with the rendering of the slides as they are moving from one picture to the next. anyone have any tips for making the files smaller or another way around this problem? I heard something about Blu-Ray disks are better for Television slideshows compared to regular DVDS. Does anyone know if this is accurate? Also I use Garageband to link songs together and bring that into Lightroom and fit to music. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cabrini,
    We haven't got any issues reporting aruond the issue like this.
    Could you please try to export the slideshow file to the drive i.e. Desktop and check the file.
    If the file doesnt have anything  missing then if you use any software to write the files over to DVD it shouldnt miss any data.
    You can follow the link below to make sure the workflow followed by you is fine.
