Lightroom 2 camera profiles

I've tried to install the new camera profiles in LR2 in Windows Vista without any luck. I've followed the instructions and i've checked for the files on the recomended locations. All was right, except there were still no aditional profiles on the camera calibration tab.
The profiles were located at
C:\Program Data\Adobe\Camera Raw\Camera Profiles.
There were two folders there:
Adobe Standard beta 1
Camera beta 1
I could load the profiles in ACR, but not in LR. Weird.
After a lot of re-installing i tried to copy my camera profiles to the root folder, so i picked the specific profiles and copy them to C:\Program Data\Adobe\Camera Raw\Camera Profiles
And it worked!! LR now sees the profiles!!
Just thought i'd share this, in case someone has the same problem.

I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!! I was looking at a jpeg!! I thought it was a RAW file (Canon .CR2). I had shot a Macro and they are jpegs :-(
Now I have my profiles and the moment I changed it to my camera's profile, WOW, I finally have LR show me my files like I wanted!
Now, I STILL don't see the tiny camera with the icons at the top withthe other tools, like I saw in the Adobe page under Getting Started:

I've photographed, under the direct sunlight, a 24 color GretagMacbeth / X-Rite table, then, after converting the RAW to DNG, I've created the standard color profiles with Adobe DNG Profile Editor. Starting from the standard profile and using as reference the "non standard" Nikon, Canon and Leica's profiles, I've created the creative profiles.

I also rarely if ever use the "Camera" profiles, which usually require using different Basic panel settings. The one exception is 'Camera Faithful,' which I sometimes use for revealing fine tonal and color gradations (i.e. flowers).

Lightroom Camera Profile quick question

Think I know where the problem lies. Pentax K100D recognised in Library metadata but not in Develop ... profile.
Can someone please check their (Windows) computer for me?

I don't have my camera appearing in that folder even though Adobe's online doc for supported models includes it.
I've upgraded from LR 2 to 3 and then to 3.3 Suspecting that it hasn't upgraded properly. If someone else has the K100D sitting merrily in their list, I guess it's uninstall and try again.

Setting up camera profiles

I may be confused, but I seem to remember when I was using LR3 Beta, I had a profile set up for my particular camera. Now I am using the release version and I can't seem to find how to set up a particular model or brand in the camera profile.

Lightroom camera profiles don't display model or brand information in their name. That being said, Lightroom will only allow you to select camera profiles designed for a specific model and brand. These profiles have names similar to those used by the camera vendor to describe their looks. For example, Canon users have profiles for Camera Faithful, Camera Neutral, Camera Portrait, Camera Landscape and Camera Standard in addition to Adobe Standard. Nikon users have slightly profiles, some of which include the D2X designation)

New camera profile not "appearing" in ACR, but does in Lightroom

I recently created a camera profile for a Nikon D200, using an X-Rite Colorchecker chart photo and the Chart feature in the DNG Editor. I exported the camera profile. When I go to the Calibration tab in ACR 5.5, the new profile does not appear in the drop down list with the other camera profiles. However, when I go to the Develop module in Lightroom 2.5, the new profile does appear in the drop down list there.
I am running Windows 7. Snooping around my root drive I find that if I look within the Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles directory (referenced in the Fraser and Schewe CS4 Camera Raw book as the Vista location for the profiles) I can find no camera profiles and when I place the new profile there it still does not appear in ACR. When I look in ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera\Nikon D200 directory I can see the regular set of camera profiles for the camera, as well as the one I created, but as I previously stated, the newly created profile does not appear in the ACR list.
A side note - I did some experimentation with camera profile names. I added "XX" to the end of the Nikon Vivid profile name (not the extension), and then that profile no longer appears in the ACR list of profiles. I removed the extra letters and then the profile reappears in the ACR list of profiles. Seemed odd behavior to me. I also noticed that the profile I created with DNG Editor is noticeably smaller than the others provided by Adobe (28K compared to 110k).
Hope someone has a suggestion for me.

Your reminder about both Photoshop (main) and Bridge needing to be shut down for changes to take effect reminded me that I had Bridge set to "auto-start at log-in". So I checked and it was still running (shown with the other hidden icons). When I "shut it down" from the UI I had thought it was fully terminated. So I completely shut Bridge down, restarted, and the new profile now appears.

ACR 5.7 can see camera profiles in Bridge CS4 but not in Lightroom 2.7

When utilizing ACR5.7 through Bridge CS4 - the cameral profiles are easily applied for my .NEF files (Nikon D300) but when I am in Lightroom 2.7 the camera profiles are not available unless I convert the nef to DNG. I have tried to search the web and these forums but I am unable to locate the answer to my problem:
Why can't I see the camera profiles in Lightroom for my nef files when I can see them through Bridge.. (both running ACR 5.7)

Camera Profile options suddenly missing in Lightroom...

Okay... so I noticed yesterday that (for some reason) my camera calibration profile options have disappeared, and my only option is "Adobe Standard". I used to have all the others (camera standard, camera standard 2, adobe standard 2, ACR, etc), but they have vanished.
I'm running Windows 7 32bit.
I thought maybe it was just Lightroom 3.5, so I un-installed and re-installed... no luck.
I un-installed 3.5 and re-installed 3.4.1.. no luck.
The camera profiles are in the proper directory (based on other forum posts I've found)... no luck.
I've tried removing the camera profiles from the directory and re-installing... no luck.
Not sure where they went, or what happened, or how I can get them back. Colors just aren't the same without them
Any ideas? I searched for hours on different forums and support sites, with no avail... Am I missing something? Is there another software besides Lightroom that needs to be installed? I'm out of ideas.

The list of profiles displayed is dependent on the camera used to shoot the image. Typically, cameras from Nikon, Canon and some Pentax will have a range of profiles whereas others vendors (e.g. Sony, Panasonic and Olympus) will only have Adobe Standard. I suggest that you check which camera model is showing fewer profiles than you expect and report back. Someone will then be able to tell you whether it's got a a full or limited range of profiles.

Lightroom 5.7 Not Showing Camera Profiles from DNG File

I just installed Adobe DNG Converter 9.0 and converted some Nikon D7200 fles to DNG for import into Lightroom 5.7. This works fine except for the Camera Specific profiles not showing up. Only Adobe Standard shows up.
When I open the same DNG file in Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop CS6, [it] properly shows all the camera specific profiles for the D7200. What am I doing wrong?

gonzalu, the reason is because the profiles are installed separately for Camera Raw vs Lightroom.
If you're using Lr 5.x, then to get the extra D7200 profiles visible in Lr, you'll need to manually copy/install them. Try looking here:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera\Nikon D7200
and copy the contents of that folder to here:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles
(where you should substitute your actual username, above).
Then restart Lr and the profiles should be visible now.
(You don't need to do this step if you're running Lr CC, because the new profiles are included with that installation.)

Lightroom 4.3 Update and Camera Profiles.

First let me start by mentioning that im running Lightroom on a Mac OS X (10.8.2).
I was running v4.2 for a while until the v4.3 update came out about a week and a half ago.
I updated to v4.3 and everything was working fine until I noticed something today.
Im having problems with Camera Profiles. I do run the latest 2012 process.
The problem to be exact is when I open catalogs that were made with v4.2
I scroll down to Camera Profiles and here is what i get.
I have presets that automatically correspond to the "film" profiles below.
But ever since the upgrade it automatically goes to ACR 4.6 instead of the "film" profile.
I know for a fact that with v4.2 I only had these profiles:
Adobe Standard
Camera Landscape
Camera Neutral
Camera Portrait
Camera Standard
Camera Vivid
with the addition of the "film" profiles.
After updating, thats what I get when opening v4.2 catalogs.
Heres the weird part.
When i create a v4.3 catalog, all of those Camera Profiles disappear.
leaving only these:
Adobe Standard
Camera Landscape
Camera Neutral
Camera Portrait
Camera Standard
Camera Vivid
and nothing else.
When I looked at the Camera Profile folder, the ones I added are there but doesnt show up in Lightroom.
Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Adobe > CameraRaw > CameraProfiles
Is this a bug or is there a fix for this? Does v4.3 read Camera Profiles from another location?
If so please help!

I would suggest a two-step process:
1) The problem could be due to a corrupt Preference File. This file can go "funny" and is then responsible for all kinds of strange behavior of Lr. The remedy is replacing the Preference File.
Re-installing Lr, or upgrading Lr does not replace the Preference File since it is designed to stay intact during upgrades.

2) If that does not help: Un-install Lr and delete the downloaded Lr 4.3 file. The file might have become damaged during download.
Then download it again and install.

Can't install Lightroom 4 Camera Profiles in OSX 10.8.3

The way I tried installing is by dropping the profile folder into the following paths:
One path is: HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles/
Another Path: /Applications/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.app/Contents/Resources/CameraProfiles/
But the profiles do not appear in the Developer Module - Camera Calibration place.
Anyone have an idea how to properly install camera profiles on Mac runnins OSX 10.8.3

Ok I got it,
By default OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.3 hides the Library Folder in users/username/ folder. What you need to do is unhide by launching Applications/Utilities/Terminal and pasting this chflags nohidden /Users/[username]/Library/ replace [username] with your computer username before pasting.
Once you execute the script you will see the Library folder and be able to place the profiles there, and it will work.

Camera Profile in Lightroom (X20)

Hi, I'm just beginning with a fujifilm X20 camera and .raf files.
I'm trying Lightroom 5.0 and still not sure if I should use Photoshop instead, here is why :
I tryied to found my camera profile, and it's not in lightroom, found X100 not X20.
I tried by the adobe lens profile downloader, I found 5 profiles for the X10, none for the X10.
Googling about that, I found out that the X20 is supported by Camera Raw, but I can't see how I could get that without Photoshop.
So my question is : what should I do :
- don't care about lens correction ?
- do care and chose one of the five available X10 profiles (but how to chose.. between them)
- switch to Photoshop + Camera Raw wich is supposed to support the X20

You may be confusing two concepts.
RAW file support for you camera means that LR will open the RAW file. LR has the Adobe ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) system built in and you don't see it. Photoshop uses the same ACR system, but you do see it as a separate function.
There are two ways you can see if your camera is supported by Lightroom or ACR. One is to find the list of cameras. The other is to see if it works.
The second concept is lens profiles. For fixed lens cameras like yours, the lens corrections are built into the data in the RAW file the camera makes. Unless you have a DSLR with multiple lenses, you can leave the "Lens Corrections" disabled or set to "Default".

Image Change When Transferred from Lightroom to PS (?Camera Profile)

I am having difficulty that I think is related to Camera RAW that I hope I can get some help with.
I updated to v7.2 today, but I think the problem started today before the update. I get the image looking great in Lightroom and then either send to Edit in PS or to Open as Smart Object in PS (it doesn't matter, same results) and the image looks awful. If I open the smart object in PS it opens in Camera RAW and when I look at all the Camera RAW settings they are all exactly the same as the Lightroom 4.2 settings until I get down to the camera calibration settings. In Lightroom it is set to Process 2012 with Adobe Standard as the profile. In Camera RAW it is Process 2012 but the profile is simply listed as 'Matrix' with no other choices available in the drop down. In Lightroom, Adobe Standard and all the camera profiles are available for what I am shooting with, a Canon 5D MKII which I have used for years. As recently as a day or two ago I did not have this problem (though I never looked to see what the Camera Raw profile was when it was coming over to PS correctly), though I suspect it may be the source of the problem since all the other settings are identical
Any help would be very appreciated as I can no longer work with images until this is corrected.

Perhaps this is a clue to the problem? If I go to Program Data>Adobe>Camera RAW> Camera Profiles > there is a folder called Camera and another Adobe Standard. Within the Adobe Standard Folder are Adobe Standard files for multiple cameras including the Canon 5D MKIII, but inexplicably there is not one for the MKII. Likewise, the Camera folder contains folders labeled with different cameras. There is a folder for the Canon 5D MKIII that contains the profiles (neutral, landscape etc) but there is NO folder for the 5d MKII. What gives here? Is this the problem? If so how does one fix it?

You need to open a raw file, not a TIFF or JPEG.

Adobe Camera Profiles in Lightroom 2.4

I upgraded to Lightroom 2.4, and installed Camera Raw 5.4. The Sony A330 is on the support list now. However, I cannot see the profiles under camera calibration in the develop tab. What gives with this? I shut down and reopened, but no good. I didn't reboot. Anyone know why I cannot see my profiles after I installed the update? I saw a video on Youtube, so I sort of know what to look for. I'm not seeing anything except the same Adobe Standard. I read google a bit for quick anwsers, but I am losing too much time now.

I'm not sure what you are saying exactly. Adobe Camera RAW 5.4 support Sony A330. I saw a video on Youtube which show the profiles once installed that come up under Camera Calibration with the develop tab. LR 2.4, I believe works with Adobe Camera Profiles 5.4

What I saw in the video, I cannot do, which is bring up those profiles in order to improve RAW photos to some degree as they were in the camera. I liked the demo and the improvements on color. I'm not saying I understand this very well.

No camera profiles in development module for Panasonic GH4 rw2 files, imported in Lightroom 5.6.

No camera profiles in development module for Panasonic GH4 rw2 files, imported in Lightroom 5.6.
Only the "Adobe Standard" is shown. In metadata I can see that the camera and lense were recognized correctly. What could be the reason?

The sample GH4 raw file I found on PhotographyBlog does have a lens profile that the Adobe applies automatically without having lens profiles being enabled. This is indicated in Photoshop CC / ACR 8.x so perhaps LR 6 will give us the same indication:

I am new to Lightroom and Photoshop. After watching a few YouTube instructional video's for Lighroom I looked for my Lens (Nikon 18-135 Zoom) but could not see one. One video suggested looking in Photoshop, there I can find the lens but not my camera. Several video's talk about downloading profiles from the internet, is there a place to do this for either?
Is a camera profile even used in Lightroom ?
