Lightroom 2 not detecting PSE for "edit in" option

I'm trying to do additional editing in PSE after my adjustments in Lightroom.  I know I need to go to Photo -> Edit in and the PSE option should be highlighted, but it's not.  I have gone to Lightroom -> Preferences -> External editing and it is not showing up.  It is says "Edit in Adobe Photoshop (not found), but I have PSE not PS.  I have launched PSE hoping that was the problem but it wasn't.
How do I fix this problem???  I'm new to Lightroom, working with the Trial version while my full version ships and should be here tomorrow. I purchased Scott Kelby's Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 book but it doesn't address the problem.

If you're seeing Photoshop but don't actually have it installed then there's a possibility that your preference file is corrupt. Try deleting it then restart Lightroom. Details of where to find the preference file are outlined at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/358041?tstart=0
To create Elements as second editor you will need to open the Preference panel at External Editor tab. Choose the application as shown below (you want Elements rather than Photoshop CS4)

  • Value property not getting updated for edit on firefox

    Der Sir/Mam,
I am a selenium tester and my test fails on moxila due to following issue,
Value property not getting updated for edit on firefox thats why failing the script while identifying the object from xPath.
The test case run fine on IE.
I want to identify the object by its xPath saying value = "Some value"
I can not check thousands of object by looking in to its value attribute property.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rohit

I'm not sure whether we can solve your question here. We are mostly supporting the released version of Firefox (Firefox 20) for regular use rather than old versions in a test harness. You might need to reach out to the [https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/selenium-users Selenium Users Group] if you can't replicate the problem in Firefox 20.

  • System Update 5 not detecting drivers for M92P (2988-A6U)

I've installed our corporate image (Windows 7 SP1 - 64bit) which has an older network driver installed. 11.12.36.0
The latest driver from Lenovo's web site is 11.15.16.0 which installs without a problem.
So i re-imaged again with the older driver 11.12.36.0 and figured that the easiest way to update the driver(s) would be to use System Update 5.
To my surprise when i ran system update it returns the following:
"No packages applicable to your system were found"
No i know i could just fix the image and install the driver during the image process but I want to use System Update.
Does anybody have a clue as to why System Update is not detecting the needed drivers?
Has anybody had any success with running System Update 5 on a Windows 7 sp1 64-bit machines?
    Thanks-

Unfortunately right now it appears that the 11.15.16.0 version of that driver does not have TVSU support yet.  Once the content team completes the process of creating and testing the package through TVSU, it will be published for customers.  I'll try to find out where this one falls in the queue. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Clicking on thumbnail in iPhoto does not open image for editing/viewing.

Clicking on images in iPhoto 7 does not open large images for editing or viewing. No ? or ! shows, just blank white screen with all buttons active as if the image is ready for editing. iPhoto library is about 50GB. What I've tried: created new library and imported 20 photos, rebuilt library w/keys using last 3 items in list, rebuilt library using iPhoto Library Manager. Quit everything, repaired permissions via Disk Utility. Nothing has worked. Was working fine a few days ago with same camera, same settings, etc. Utterly baffling, would love other suggestions?

  • Lightroom does not detect external hard drive

I am a newcomer to Lightroom and I'm trying to move my photos (25,000+) from my laptop to external hard drive. I've already copied the catalog over there (following online video tutorial by David Marx). I thought the way to move the actual photos was to drag and drop them using the left panel within Lightroom. But no matter what I do, Lightroom does not show my external hd (LaCie), so I can't drag/drop. Am I right that this is the way to do it?
Strangely, Lightroom does "see" the LaCie when I open the "Import" function.
    Thanks for any help.
    Dylan

Is your LaCie formatted? Do you see it in your OS?
    --Yes.
    If yes, try the following:
In your OS move one folder to your LaCie.
Open LR. In the folders panel there should be a question mark besides the folder you just moved - at the old location!
Right-click this folder and point LR to the new location on the LaCie.
--So far, so good. But now LR sees LaCie as a folder, not a drive. And none of the folders that are already on the LaCie are visible.
If Lr lets you do this you're fine and from then on you can use the drag-and-drop method within LR.
Or, alternatively you can move all the other folders in your OS and then point LR to the new location. It might be a bit faster to make the move in your OS.
--I'm holding off on this step for now...

  • Lightroom Does Not Detect Third Party Lenses Correctly

Adobe really needs to detect third party lenses better...
    Here are examples.
example A) Tamron 150-600 VC for Canon.
In EXIF under Camera section, under ??? (Uknown category) lens is correctly identified by  the Camera as Tamron SP 150-600mm F 5-6.3 Di VC USD A011.
Under Manufacturer Notes under lens name Camera has it listed as Canon EF 90-300mm F4.5-5.6 USM, that is wrong.
When lightroom imports the pictures it list the lens as Tamron 150-600, that is correct, but it will NOT apply Tamron profile, it requires to be manually selected.
    Example B) Sigma 85mm 1.4 for Canon
In EXIF under Camera section, under ??? (Uknown category) lens is identified as just 85mm.
Under Manufacturer Notes under lens name Camera has it listed as Sigma 85mm F1.4 EX DG HSM, that is correct.
When lightroom imports the pictures it list the lens as 85mm, that is incorrect.
    Example C) AF Nikkor 85mm F1.4D IF
In EXIF under Camera section, Manufacturer Notes Lens is identified as just 85mm 1.4.
Under Manufacturer Notes under Used lens name Camera has it listed as AF Nikkor 85mm F1.4D IF, that is correct.
When lightroom imports the pictures it list the lens as 85mm 1.4, that is incorrect.
Just 3 examples, I could post 1-2 dozens more.
Adobe nees to improve the import module to check for the lens name in correct fields depending on Camera and Lens manufacture.

    Yes, it's annoying isn't it!
I've created a preset to apply the lens correction to the Tamron 150-600 lens. It's easy enough if all the shoot is with that lens, if not, you have to filter the images by lens, then apply it!
As you say, the overlay information correctly says it's the Tamron 150-600 lens, the profile is present, but it won't automatically apply it. Photoshop 2014 CC is the same.

  • Lightroom does not open photoshop using  "Edit in adobe photoshop CC-" command.

I updated lightroom and photoshop using the CC desktop. (LR V5.3 x64, PS V14.6.2 x64) This broke the “Edit in adobe photoshop CC…” command.
Based on advice from this forum, I unistalled both programs completely and reinstalled them.  The
“Edit in adobe photoshop CC…” command is still broken.
Is there a way to fix this?  I use this feature frequently.

    In reply to DdeGannes:
What’s broken?  --  The “Edit in adobe photoshop CC…” command does not open photoshop and the file as it did before the upgrade.
Is the "edit in function" not available? -- It is visible in the edit it menu.
    Was it working before?  Yes.
What happens if you click? -  Nothing.
Do you get an error message?  - No.

  • IPhoto not showing image for editing

In iPhoto, in events, I click on an event, then highlight a photo.  When I double click the thumbnail, I see a preview but when I click that to edit or if, on the thumbnail, I right click>"edit in iPhoto", all I see is a blank screen.  If I highlight the thumbnail and click Reveal in Finder>original file, I get "can't find it" or if I click >modified file, I get iPhoto library>previews>the file.  I have by shear accident been able to find iPhoto>masters and see that the original files are still there.  How can I get back to iPhoto finding the masters and allowing me to edit?

If I highlight the thumbnail and click Reveal in Finder>original file, I get "can't find it"
Your library is corrupted. Try restore from your back up. If that fails:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • BC IN-Browser Editor not loading pages for editing.

    Hi,
From Bc admin I click the edit button to open in browser editing.
The editor opens and the index page loads and is editable.
When I click the link to the about page (example) or any other page the page loads fine but none of the editable regions are visible.
If I look in my browser address bar I see that although I am viewing the about page the address is still showing the index page. If I manually update this to about.html the browser then navigates to the about page and I am able to use the in browser editing options.
I have another site in BC whiere the in browser editing works fine, each page is editable from clicking the menu link. So I feel this is an issue parculiar to this site but I cant  see the difference between the two sites that could be causing the one to have this issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers Cas

    Hi Aish,
Thank you for your reply. I'm not using muse on the sites I mentioned though I have used it on another site and am not experiencing any issues with the In-Browser editing.
The issue is as mentioned in the thread you pointed me to, the browser address remains the same from page to page but if I update it manually I can then edit it.
I had read the thread but sadly there is no solution offered in it.
    Thanks again
    Cas

  • Lightroom is not detecting the right lens. I have Sigmas 150-500 on Pentax. LR keep saying it's a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 EX ... What to do?

I have Sigmas 150-500 on Pentax. LR keep saying it's a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 EX ... What to do?

    Hello Janux,
I do not exactly know how it works with Pentax (I'am a Canon shooter) but I expect it will be the same.
A Canon camera knows only about Canon lenses. It detect the lens by the so called LensID and write the correct metadata into the EXIF data the image. If you use a third party lens, the Camera does not know which a the correct values to write into the EXIF data. Thrid party lens vendors typicaly use a valid LensID of some (old) Canon lenses to solve this problem. But: Focal lenght and LensID rearly match.
Third party software must know which LensID and focal lens are used for a third party Lens. Often, there are multiple lenses possible. You can find out more about your metadata using a software called exiftool, which has a very log list of Pentax / Lens combinations.
To make the story short: Third party software must make a guess, an LR makes the wrong one. (You can use exiftool to fill in the correct metadata into your images, LensMake, LensModel, if you like.)

  • How to best use iPhoto for organizing but PSE for editing?

I'm new to Adobe PSE and trying to figure out how to manage a workflow between iPhoto - which I want to use to manage and organize pictures, and PSE9 -where I want to do all of my editing.  I thought the best way would be to open an iPhoto event from PSE9 and do the edits but PSE doesn't seem to recognize the iPhoto '11 file structure when browsing to open files.  I'm also confused as to whether I would be able to revert to original after editing if using PSE9 as the editor, and if so, how?  Appreciate any thoughts or advice...

You need to either set PSE as your external editor or export the photos from iphoto before editing then reimport the edited photo. Quick tutorial on both methods:

Never try to save back into the iphoto library from outside iphoto, though.

  • NO FIREWIRE! MacBook can not capture video for editing...Help!

I bought a New Unibody Macbook last week. Then I realized that my New Video Camera (Canon Vixia HV30) is not compatible with the MacBook as it has no Firewire. So I called apple to discuss returning it for a Macbook Pro. But upon examining the specs for the MacbookPro I discovered that it only has Firewire 800 which is not cross compatible with Firewire 400. So that computer will ot help me either. Apparently the manufactures of video cameras are way behind Apple in its adoption of firewire 800. (note USB2.0 is not designed for video, it is a burst based protocol and not nearly as fast for continuous data streams, like digitizing video)
    Does anyone know of...
    1) A Video Camera that uses Firewire 800
    2) An adapter from 400 to 800?
Any help would be very appreciated.

I have been pretty ticked off about Apple's direction myself as I own an audio and video business which relies heavily on FW400 for my cameras and sound cards. I am fortunate to have the older 17" MacBook Pro with both Firewire's built in, but I was thinking to myself, what would I do if I had to purchase now. This is what I would do:
I would get a MacBook Pro and purchase at $32.00 Fire Wire ExpressCard/34. Gives you 2-Firewire 400's. Heck for $30.00 you get two ports. Not bad at all!

  • Overview of existing SQL Server Logins, for edit/delete options

    Hi all,
in my Sql Server Management Studio, I can create a new login by right-clicking the "security" item on the object explorer in the left, and selecting new->Login.
Where can I, however, get an ovevrview of all the existing logins, and possibly edit/delete them?
    Thanks,
    best regards,
    Chris

The same place where you were looking at - the security node under the server name - has a sub node called Logins. Expand that and you will see all the logins on the server.
You can also see the logins via T-SQL query
    SELECT * FROM sys.syslogins;
There is a Security node under the server node, and then there are security nodes under each database node.  For LOGINs you want to look at the server level security node. If you want to see the users on each database look under the database level security
    node.

  • How do I get a photo into Lightroom if I first opened it in Photoshop for editing

Sometimes I open an image (not in the Lightroom catalog)  directly into Photoshop for editing and when I'm done would like to finish editing it in Lightroom. What's the best way to do that?

Any reason why you're not opening it in Lightroom first?  RAW converter?   "Typical" workflow would be to open everything in Lightroom, do basic development, and then kick it over to Photoshop as needed.  Lightroom tracks it the whole time, so when you save your file in Photoshop, so long as you don't rename it, Lightroom will keep track of it as an alternate to the original.
