Lightroom 2 problem

I dont know where to put this for help so if you can help please do.  I have used Lightroom 2 for awhile now and love it ( I have 2.7 now ) however i just went to import some RAW files into ligthroom and it told me they cannot be found. They are on my external hard drive like always and they open in photoshop and digital photo professional. i can even import file from the C.F. card but this takes longer and i like the way i did it before. so can anyone think of any reason i may not be able to import these it would be of great help to me. oh and i can import some photos ive imported before but not others thanks in advance for any help

Sorry I am running windows vista and when i go to import i select the images from (yes lol) the correct folder and hit import. the message that comes up is "No photos where found to import". Now in the same folder i can view them in photoshop, adobe bridge, digital photo professional and zoombrowser. so i know i have images in that folder and there are no problems with the files themselves. What bothers me is this is the same procedure i have used every time and know it will not work. sorry if i sound frustrated but i am lol Thanks again for any help in advance!

  • CC Photoshop/Lightroom PROBLEMS

I purchased CC Photoshop/Lightroom   a little over a month ago , since then I have had photoshop crash on launch over and over asking me for a serial number so I looked around saw on adobe's site to change from english (America ) to English ( international) ,  I did that and it fixed that problem but then I could not update any of my apps they would just crash and give me errors , so I contacted adobe they remotely accessed my computer and fixed it , or so I thought . Yesterday I gets notice saying that Lightroom has an update so I updated it and it did a weird install placing everything to my desktop which is not the default location and then I tried to open Lightroom and it did nothing at all , absolutely would not open , so I restarted over and over still nothing then CC tells me I have updates for Photoshop and bridge which of course they would not update and continued to crash giving me errors , finally after a whole day and night of searching for solutions and trying to get everything to work   I turned my computer off . came back this morning and tried installing photoshop and bridge updates once again this time they went through and worked and both of them run for some odd reason , so then I attempted to try my luck on Lightroom and it now it decides to  open,  but when I try to access the develop module it tells me my trial version is up so develop module has been suspended and to upgrade my software which I do not understand why It would say that if I purchased the CC and I'm paying 10$ a month for  both Photoshop and Lightroom .
Has anyone else experienced any of these issues , and know an actually solution to them? I am honestly getting sick of Photoshop and Lightroom not allowing updates to go through , crashing, not wanting to open , asking me for serial numbers and prompting me with other messages that make it to where I can't use the software.

I uninstalled Lightroom and C.C. , but Photoshop and Bridge won't uninstall I kep getting an error message saying that they can't be uninstalled to 1. restart computer , which I did , 2. Disable all startup programs including virus protection software, did that and 3. Attempt uninstall again , did that and still receive the error message so I downloaded adobe creative cloud cleanet tool, ran that selected #3 from the cleanup list to remove all creative cloud and creative cloud progrograms , finished the cleanup restarted computer  Photoshop and Bridge are still their and still can't be removed and continue to receive initial error message of being unable to uninstall , tried looking around for a solution to this problem but am unable to find anything. I need some serious  help I just want to uninstall Photoshop and Bridge so I can completely start from scratch downloading C.C. and the Photoshop, Lightroom & Bridge apps

  • Exporting files from lightroom: problem with filename

    Hi!
I am a sports-photographer and i use lightroom since version 1.0. i really like it to edit my pictures and it is very easy to use for importing my files and setting the meta-datas.
but i have one problem, that forces me to open up each file i export once again to rename it, what costs a lot of time:
when i export my files, i can choose a preset to give it a name, which works well. but i would need it like this: "my preferences"001 (f.e. oliver-climbing-01oct09001) and raising in numbers.
lightroom ALWAYS makes a "-" between my presets and the numbers.
does anyone know if there is a possibilty to export the file and give it a name without this "-" in fornt of the number?
glad to find a solution here!
    cu or read u
    oliver

    hello!
    thanx for the fast answer!
u are right, but this is not my problem:
i want lightroom to count my exported pictures starting with 001, then 002, then 003 at the end and so on
but if i use the sequency-number or anything else, it does not generate a new name like 001, then 002,
but it does make 001 and then 001-2 and 001-2...
u can see that in the screenshot i made down here...

  • Lightroom Problems

I discovered I had problems this morning. I edited the mornings images with only the usual problems which are that I usually get shut down 3 or 4 times per batch with by an unknown error message. Then I went back to finish editing some shots from last week and they weren't there. Then I got to looking at other things. All of my collections had vanished. Then I found that all of my scans were gone. Then I found that most of my folders no longer existed. Then I found out that I had twice as many images as I had started with. Somehow I had recovered lots of files that had long ago been deleted and my hard drive was virtually full. While looking for my lost material, I received a "visual C++ runtime error" message and Lightroom was shut down so that I cannot get back into it.

Adobe is aware that Lightroom is not fully compatible with Leopard yet. Expect an update by the middle of November.

  • Nikon D40x Lightroom Problem

I have also posted this message in the ACR and Bridge Forums:
I am running Windows Vista and CS3 and am trying to process Nikon D40x raw files (NEFs) using ACR 4.1. The images come up properly in Bridge. However, when I try to add metadata using a metadata template, I get the error: "There was an error writing metadata to DSC_130.NEF." When I try to rotate an image in Bridge, I get the same error. If I try to do a Batch Rename, the name does not change. If I double-click on the image, it opens properly in ACR and the image can be rotated in ACR, and it then appears rotated in Bridge.
I also tried importing the D40x images in Lightroom. The following error appeared: "Problem Importing Files. The following files were not imported. The files appear to be unsupported or damaged."

I think from my reading at Adobe that there is to be an update to LR very soon, (not V1.1!) that will update the ACR engine in LR to handle the D40X.

  • CC Lightroom problems

I have Elements 13 as an additional external editor but when I select it in the under Photo -  Edit in Elements 13 opens but the photo does not appear.
Also when I went to Help it sent me to http://community.stage.corp.adobe.com/chcservices/services/redirect?u=http://help.stage.ad obe.com&p=Lightroom_6.0&l=en_U…
which wouldn't open so there was no help available
    Many thanks

    Thanks for the link.
So, what I found so far is that you were right to ask if I was sure it doesn't open. When I use edit in PS -  PS opens with the image open. When I use edit in Elements 13 - Elements opens in the editor ( not the organiser which I never use) and there is no image visible but I found the .psd image in the organiser. I can then edit the image, save it and when I go back to lightroom the edited .psd image is there. I have tried this several times and it worked each time. So I can work around the problem until I get more experience or find a better solution.  (or use PSCC and stop using Elements)
BTW when I drag the thumbnail across it puts the image in the organiser. I didn't see what happened if I edited and saved.
    Thanks for your help

  • Lightroom problems opening NEF files

I used Lighroom 2 and CS4 with no problems for a very long time and then decided to upgrade to Lightroom 3 and CS5 which was a big mistake.
I have had so many problems and don't know what to do.
Lightroom has trouble opening NEF files that I would like to edit in photoshop. I have spent so much time with Adobe Tech support with no improvement, tonight a senior tech spent three hours working with the program and cs5 and I still have problems. They make changes, things seem to be fine and when I restart the computer it goes back to the same issue. Tomorrow another tech will call but the days are going by and I'm not getting any work done. A program that is supposed to improve my workflow is turning into a major inconvenience.
Tonight the program seemed to be working fine for a while, I edited several images and just realized now that they are all corrupted and aren't usable.
In the past few days we trashed lightroom preferences, cs5 preferences, made sure Lightroom and Photoshop and camera RAW are updated. One night I uninstalled cs5 and installed a fresh copy (didn't install any plug-ins to make suer they are not the ones causing the problem), it was working great then I quit both programs and restarted the computer and back to square one, not being able to open a NEF file.
If the Adobe technician cannot solve the issue what are my options, should I go back to Lightroom2 or should I try Lightroom 3 with CS4?
    Thanks,
    Barbara

    Barbara,
The purpose behind setting up a test catalog and new user is to try to find out where things are going wrong.  If you do end up needing a new catalog, there are ways to keep your past work.  You can import from your old catalog into your new catalog.  You can save many of the settings directly into your images (JPEGs or TIFFs) or sidecars (raw files) by using Metadata>Save Metadata to File.  If you do it the second way, you will lose things such as collections that cannot be saved.  But before worrying about that, try the new user and we will work from there.
You may already know this, but no matter what you do, when you retouch an image in PS, you will be creating a new file.  LR does not modify the originals, so a new TIFF will have to be created to save the retouched image.  There is no way to save the retouching to a raw file.
As far as the number of catalogs to create, most people will be best served by having only one catalog.  If you have more than one, you have to be organized and careful not to mix them up.  We have seen a lot of problems caused by people accidently importing images into the wrong catalog and then getting concerned when their images disappeared. Also, it is difficult to search for images when they are in multiple catalogs.
I do use multiple catalogs.  I have to be sure I don't show the wrong images at the wrong times.  I do boudoir and glamour photography that is private and I have to be sure I don't show the images accidently to other clients.  I set up a separate folder for each job and keep the catalog and images in that folder.  After about a year, I burn a DVD of the images and catalog and archive it.  I rarely have to return to a client's file after a year and never have to search across client files.  I also have one large catalog for stock and personal work.  I do need to search across all of those images.  Until you are well-versed and comfortable with using LR, I would recommend keeping it to one catalog.  You can easily split it up later if needed.
Since I have multiple catalogs I keep each catalog with its images for the sake of organization.  My stock images (and catalog) are on an external drive.  I have another external drive for client work.  Each client job has a separate folder on that drive.  The images and catalog for each job is kept in their job folder.

  • Lightroom Problem: HELP!

It displays this message: "Adobe Lightroom 5 Cannot be opened because of a problem" - "check with developer to make sure adobe photoshop lightroom 5 works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X"
I have done all that and the problem is still the same. Cannot open Lightroom and the same message appears every time I try launching the program. HELP!!!

Yosemite 10.10.2 is still beta.  10.10.1 runs Lightroom so maybe you should contact Apple and see what they broke.  Apple (which I use) has been breaking a lot of things for the past couple years.

  • Lightroom problem!!! Can someone help please???

    Hi All,
Just bought a new computer 2 wks ago & installed Lightroom 3.0.  I've used it only 3 times & when I went to open it to edit today  I get the message "Opening Catalog:Img 2136_cr2.Ircat"  then a window pops up saying that a problem caused the program to stop working.  windows will close the program & notify you if a solution is availble."  Can anyone help me with this.  I'm new to LR .  This is very discouraging ...maybe should just use PScs5 instead.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks kimkl

First, I've not had any similar problems, which I know doesn't help you. But I think this isn't a chronic LR problem. Given that file name, I think you must have, at some point, exported a catalog (File / Export as Catalog on a PC). How that got set as your default catalog I'm not sure.
    Anyway, try this:
Use your computer's search function to find the file in question. Delete it. Delete any other files in the same folder, EXCEPT for any image files, of course.
Now restart LR.  It will come up with a message that says it can't find the catalog, and give you a choice of creating a new one, or selecting an existing one. If you really have only opened LR 3 times, and haven't done much editing, I'd suggest creating a new one. Otherwise, find the correct catalog file and choose it.
Where is the "correct" catalog? It should be in a folder named Lightroom, normally located in the folder where your images are.
Have you backed up your catalog when exiting LR?  If so, you could follow the advice above, but choose one of the backup .lrcat files.
If worse comes to worse, find and delete ALL files that end in .lrcat and other files that are with them, then restart LR, and select the option to create a new catalog. Be sure to select the option, if it's presented, to always use that catalog when starting LR.
This tutorial isn't exactly about this problem, but it will show you where the catalog files are located and how the dialogs I reference are set up:

  • Lightroom problems AGAIN and again

I have the same problem since over a month. I've download Lightroom through creative cloud, I'm paying for it every month and yet I cannot use it comfortably. Every time when I'm closing my computer down and then I'm restarting it my LR is not working. It shows me that "0 days remian" in  "I want to try" option and it asks me to put my serial number. When I'm putting my serial number (the one that is in my profile) it shows me error  and nothing is happening. So I have to delete LR and install it again EVERY TIME WHEN I WANT TO USE IT, which is ridiculous! Is there any other way? When I was asking about it last time someone advice me to "Please refer the article: Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 and try installing Lightroom from Creative Cloud Desktop." which I did. It didn't help. Any other ideas?

  • Lightroom problems with large folders of Raw images

I have a problem processing folders with a large number of Raw images in Lightroom and the same folder is easily processed in Adobe Bridge (without much loading time). The folder locked up Lightroom more than once. The folder has Nikon D2X and D2H .NIF files and it has 850 images. I bought Lightroom to simplify the editing and sorting and sorting process but I often work out of large folders like this. Is Bridge a better answer for what I am looking for or am I doing something wrong (like not waiting long enough).

It can take some ime for LR to import a large folder of RAWs. But once in it should be faster.
How are you importing. Are they already on your HD, or coming from the camera with copy, or a cardreader?

  • Blurb versus lightroom problem

I have a problem with importing pictures to a blurb book. When I want to import a picture which I developed in lightroom it is'nt always possible to get it into the blurb book. When I open the picture from bridge into fotoshop it is always ok. Blurb can't solve my problem, so may be somebody can help me at this place. Also when I open the picture again in photoshop Im not able to put it in a book. It has nothing to do with jpeg, srgb, format but is is a strange problem. I hope someone has the solution.

Just delete your preview cache folder and all will be well again, probably.
    Steps:
    1. find your catalog file (hint: not in with program files - the above-mentioned document shows default locations, if not in default location, and you don't know where it is, search your system for all files ending with .lrcat).
    2. there will be a folder ending with .lrdata in same folder as catalog file - delete the whole .lrdata folder and nothing else.

  • Major Lightroom problems

I am desperate to find a solution. I was importing photos into lightroom and during the process the entire computer froze. I restarted the computer to only have it get put in to recovery mode. After a dozen attempts to get it going again I finally got Window to load correctly. I then backed up my catalog to an external hard drive. I then opened light room only to have it freeze the computer and start the whole process of multiple restarts to get it working again.  I decided to uninstall the program and re install it as thats usually the fix to a problem like this. But it has only made the problem worse.
Now the problem is the new installed lightroom is still not working, and now lightroom won't let windows uninstall the program, and with it installed it won't re install or change/repair the program.
I don't know what to do now. I have a bad program that won't let me remove it, and I can't repair it. I need some help (Prefered over the PHONE!) to get this fixed. I just bought lightroom 5 two weeks ago so I should be able to get phone or at the very least chat support.
This is a major problem, any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

No error messages when I start it. Currently it wont even open, it just doesn't do anything. Literally I click on the icon and nothing happens. When I try to reinstall/fix it this is the error message.

  • Raw update on Lightroom - problem with photos during import

    Hi
I recently did an update provided by Adobe to help improve the "raw converter /import" or something like that, and now when I upload my photos - they change and become dark, the histogram looks awful... how do i go back to the way it was before.. i shot Nikon D7000, and my version of lightroom now is 3.6, with Camera raw 6.6. PLEASE HELP.. do i need to uninstall - then reinstall?

I recently did an update provided by Adobe to help improve the "raw converter /import" or something like that
Too bad you can't provide us with details, because as far as I know there is NO such thing using Lightroom. If you have Lightroom 3.6, there is no upgrade you can do except purchase Lightroom 4.
Nevertheless, it sounds like perhaps you are accidentally applying a preset on import, check the history of one such file by looking in the History Panel of the Develop Module and seeing if the bottom element indicates a preset was applied.
