Lightroom 3.6 crashes following power outage

I had a sudden outage at home. Since then my PS LR 3.6 stops working after a few seconds and shows up the following message: "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.6 64-bit dejó de funcionar". I have reinstalled the application a few times to no avail. Any suggestions, please?

Hi, Rikk:
I found the file and deleted it. The application opened and again crashed within a few seconds.
Thanks for trying, anyway. Maybe you can come up with some other suggestion?

  • Mirrored RAID set has degraded following power outage.

    Hello,
Following a recent power outage our Mac Pro running Leopard OSX Server with 2 x 1TB discs in a Mirroring RAID configuration (with an installed RAID card) developed a 'severe error' message.
The Raid Set R0-1 has a Viable (degraded) status.
Drive One (or bay 1) is 'Good' and 'Assigned'
Drive Two is 'Good' but with the State - 'Roaming'
Also, the events display describes the failure of a drive 3 (there isn't one) and that the R0-1 is Degraded and no spare is available.
    So, we're a little confused.
    1. Is the Drive 2 no longer part of the RAID mirror (i.e. Roaming)
    OR
    2. Something more significant has happened hence the bogus Drive 3 message?
Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated as always.
    Thanks
    Steve

Yes. Verification with the GUI tool is the first step. But... hmm, if you are dropping communications with the card, that is not a good sign. Make sure you have a backup and then try a PMU reset on the system. Maybe there is something wacky in the power manager. Then try any/all of these from Terminal to get more information:
    raidutil list status
    raidutil list eventinfo
    raidutil list raidsetinfo
This should provide feedback. If these commands fail, then I fear that the card is not responding. Do you have AppleCare? It might be time to call for a replacement card.
    Hope this helps

  • Mail crashes repeatedly after power outage

Hi folks. This evening we had a power outage that shut down my computer without warning (no, no UPS; we're in a temporary rental house, and I didn't bring the UPS, which was probably dumb). Ever since, when I try to start up Mail, it will open, remain open for maybe 10-20 seconds, and then quit unexpectedly. The "safe start" option doesn't fix the problem, nor does moving the preferences files or "unfoldered" items from the ~/Library/Mail folder to the desktop and letting Mail rebuild the mail folders. Can someone suggest a fix?
I'm running OS X 10.5.6 on an Intel alumiMac 24", and Mail is fully up to date. (Running Safari 3.2.1, if that's relevant.)
Here's the latest error report, if someone is able to decipher the gobbledegook (apologies for the long dump, but hey, I didn't write the thing).
Can anyone tell me what I should try next?

Most likely you've had some catastrophic damage done to the hard drive in the form of file and/or directory corruption. Start by:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger, and 4.1 for Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If your drive is shown as OK but the problem persists, then reinstall OS X as follows:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • During a power outage, my mac was on and when it came back on, it was reset. No pictures, documents, etc. How can I fix this?

My mac was on during a power outage, and when I turned it back on, it was reset. I cannot find any of my pictures or documents. I would really like to fix this on my own. Does anyone have any ideas? The memory seems to be cleared.

There may be no fix. The outage may have caused a damaging electrical spike.
    Try this first:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:

if possible because it isthree times faster than wireless.
    If this doesn't work then:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

  • SLM224P POE issue after power outage

Have recently experienced an issue where after a power outage, the device recovers with the exception of the POE ports. This device supports POE on 12 of 24 ports. I have two wireless radios (currently, with plans to expand POE need) on port e1 and e18 (poe is on 1-6 and 12-18). The devices on the non-POE ports all came back up fine following the outage, but the two radios remained inactive despite what the port management details indicated. The java indicatons indicated the ports were down, contrasting the port detail page. There was no power on either port. I recovered by logging into the unit and instigating a reboot at which point all the devices came back.
This is the second time that this has happened, the first time being written off as a fluke. I consider this a pretty serious flaw as the POE aspect is just as vital, if not more so, than a standard non-POE port recovery. The unit is on a UPS, but the outage exceeded the battery duration. The device should recover all operations automatically, without any human intervention. I see that the SRW224P also has similar issues.
There also appears to be a bug in the time setting routine. In some instances I keep getting a message indicating that the time must be later than the time being set...due to the daylight savings time. Turn this off, then set the time and then turn back DST back on. A NTP (auto) server setting would be nice.

I would like to think power could be a factor as a reboot did recover the device, but as stated, it was on a UPS. Granted the battery had depleted and I guess a disturbance might have gotten by (maybe on the power-up cycle), but the device did function fine on the non-POE ports. Seems to be more of a device issue in its ability to recover and know that it has done so correctly. I like the device, just scared as I can't control when an outage or disturbance might occur and the management interface indicates the ports are up when in fact, thay are not. Thanks for the thought though, I will at least try a different make UPS.

  • Lightroom 2.7 Crashes

Our lightroom seems to crash when editing pictures i.e brush work, graduated filter, and spot removal. I've seen some old posts about a memory dump glitch. Does this still exist in 2.7 and if so is there something I can do so my wife is happier with this product?

Like so many of you, I have experienced lockups in Lightroom in various versions from 2.4 up to 3.0.  I am running a liquid cooled Core i7 Extreme 975 Overclocked to 4.2ghz, 12gb RAM, twin ATI 5970 video cards.
I have tried a lot of the suggested fixes with no success  Like so many of you have reported, I had no issues with 32 or 64bit applications and out of no where I start getting lockups.
(I give the following background because my pc is new)
Since December and thru April, I have had work done on my home and I have been frustrated with the amount of drywall dusk that gets into everything.  Needless to say I have given my PC several (cans) blast of compressed air to the motherboard, video cards and especially memory section and still had issues with lockups.
Frustrated I decided to load LR3 on my wife's new Alienware liquid cooled Core i7 920, 6gb RAM and had no problem. Then it hit me, there is no reason this should not run on my PC, so there must be something I am overlooking.
The backside of the motherboard has exposed pins from the processor, the front side is liquid cooled!  Today's mothers boards and processor sockets are being packed in with more and more connections in a space (motherboard) that is not growing and subsequently connections are tighter and tighter together making accumulated dusk a real issue.
Once I blasted the backside of the exposed Corei7 with compressed air, I no longer experienced lockups with exporting or lockups when I click on the first one or two images.  More importantly, none of the previous versions of Lightroom looked up and more as well.
In my case, my is only 5 months old and exposed to plenty of indirect drywall related dust.  I can't help but imagine that older systems exposed to "regular" household dust over many months/years might be experiencing the same issue.  Its easy to miss the underside of your motherboard when cleaning with compressed air and in my case, that was key.
I hope this helps so many of you who are frustrated with the random, but consistant lockups like I was,
Good luck and please post your experience to the forums if this works for you!
    God Bless,
    Nate

  • Power outage before Mac finished updating.  What should I do?

My Mac was in the process of installing updates via Apple Software Update. For this update session, a restart was required - i.e. a message box popped up and said I had to restart to finish installing updates. So I clicked the button on the message box that would cause the Mac to restart.
After clicking the button, and before actually restarting, my Mac logged out of my account and went back to the default "space" desktop image where it finished some more updating (i.e. there was a message box with a growing blue bar representing the percentage of the update process that was finished).
Unfortunately, the blue bar had almost reached the end when my Mac suddenly shut down. It had not restarted, but actually shut down, and I couldn't turn it back on again. I checked my phone, microwave, refrigerator, which had all also turned off, and realized there had been a power outage while my Mac was updating.
After I got the power back on and turned on my Mac, the Mac seemed to start up normally and work fine. I tried Software Update again because I thought it might allow me to fully retry the update since it didn't finish fully due to the unfortunately timed power outage. However, it said that my software was fully up-to-date.
I have tried a few programs out so far and it seems to work fine for the most part. The only thing I've noticed is that Safari has been acting a bit strangely. For example, the cursor no longer changes into a hand over hyperlinks; instead it remains as an arrow. Second, whenever I click on any search result on Google, I get the following message (in this example, I clicked on the first search result for my search for "test"): "Redirect Notice The previous page is sending you to http://www.test.com/. If you do not want to visit that page, you can return to the previous page." Third, the full version of Gmail no longer works and I have to use the HTML version. I'm not sure whether these are glitches in the newest version of Safari or if they are a result of the computer not finishing the update process properly.
I haven't tried all software out yet, and I don't remember the full list of software being updated, so issues may potentially exist in other software caused by the update not finishing properly.
One other thing that occurred was that the first time I shut the computer down after turning it on after the power outage, a message popped up on the "space" desktop image after logging out, which said it was updating the system cache or something. But now the computer seems to shut down normally.
This might be a newbie question, but what could I do to address this issue? Thanks for any help.

Perhaps. You can always reinstall the OS from the install discs you got when you bought the machine. After you have done that re-install 10.6.3.
The #1 thing you do before any major update is make sure you have a back up of your system. I know I'm preaching to the choir but perhaps this is something you can take to the person that stopped that from occurring the first time.

  • Lost my MS Outlook files after a power outage.

Need help recovering my MS Outlook settings and folders after a power outage.  MS Outlook a part of the MS Office and Business Software for 2011 Mac.

How do I go about doing that?
You would repeat the same exact process that you used when you originally configured the AirPort router when it was new, just out of the box.
Open Macintosh HD >  Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Continue to follow the guided setup
You can use the same AirPort name, device password, wireless network name and password that you used previously, or change the names and passwords if you wish.

  • Elements 9 Organizer unresponsive after power outage

    Hi
I hope somebody can help me asap about this. I was editing photos in Elements Editor, the photos open in Organizer. The power went out, computer shut off. When power came back on, Editor works fine. But Organizer loads but as soon as I click on a photo, it spins, grays ot, becomes unresponsive. I click to let it recover but it doesn't work.
What happened when the puter shut off like that to cause this? I am new to PCs, so need lots of details.
Thank you so much for any help!
PS: Windows 7, Dell Studio computer.

    OK
    another long response here
I did what you said would be a waste of time: I uninstalled all versions of PSE that were here and then reinstalled 9. There never was any version of Organizer that was working.
And just as you said (and I knew in my heart of hearts), nothing has changed. Editor works, Organizer loads and becomes unresponsive as soon as I click anything in it, whether it be a folder in the folder panel or the photo that was displayed.
There is still no Organizer inside Roaming/Adobe/Photoshop (or whatever the path is).
I have installed all Windows and Adobe updates, even Java updates.
I have resolved any and all problems that Windows told me needed to be addressed.
I have restarted several times and made sure I did all this stuff properly.
The only other wierd thing I notice is that I have three new files on my desktop (I have had these since the power outage):
    * 2 desktop.ini files
    * 1 thumb.db file
I am ready to spend money I don't have to buy some other software so that I can get back to work on my photography. But there is nothing that does all that I need plus is affordable. Does GIMP tag and map? I don't know.
I am thinkiing of restoring to Sunday, March 6, which is an automatic restore point the day before the power outage. But I'm not as familiar with Windows restore as with Mac Time Machine.
I am obsessed and fretful and can't get my business going here. I have been building a photography business and need to get this fixed! Ever since the crash from the outage, this machine has been sluggish/slow/many unresponsive states in other apps. All this despite my upgrades and stuff.
You have no idea what your support means to me. Thank you.

  • Power outage while using LR - did I lose all my work?

LR is set to back up when I open it.  I spent 8 hours editing and at 6pm there was a power outage.  Is there ANY WAY I can recover all of my edits?  I'm horrified to hear I can't.  Someone please tell me of a magical way to get everything back.
I find it crazy that when I turned my computer back on, Internet Explorer remembered the five websites I had opened and asked me whether I would it should go right back to where I was, but LR seems to not have these abilities?
In addition to fearing I may have just blown 8 hous of work, I've been on hold with the Adobe help line for 168 minutes and counting.  I just might go crazy tonight.

You may  lose a bit of your work but not all, only the last few operations.
While you work with Lightroom every change you make is saved to the catalog file.
The catalog file by default is in a sub-folder in your pictures folder called Lightroom
(mypictures>lightroom>lightroom 2 catalog) there are also some other sub folders there.
While LR is running it creates a file called "Lightroom 2 catalog.lrcat.lock" which prevents access to the LR Catalog file by other users while you are  using it. When LR closes in a normal manner, the .lock file is deleted.
If however LR closes unexpectedly the .lock file will remain and will not allow Lr to open the catalog file when you try to restart.
In this case what you need to do is, with LR closed go to the >my pictures>lightroom>  folder and delete the "lightroom 2 catalog.lrcat.lock" file.
    Then restart Lightroom.

  • Apple tv was working fine until power outage.  Now stuck on Computers and Settings Icons.  Cannot get back to normal function.

Apple TV was installed and functional until power outage.  Now I am stuck on Computers and Settings Icons and cannot get back to normal operation.  Can get to settings which  I have tried many times.  Any thoughts?

Happened once to me also following a nasty storm
One of the 2 things worked for me (can't recall which):
    1. Power down everything. UNPLUG  your apple TV and whatever it's connected to, including the power cord and the HDMI cable (disconnect at both ends) Wait a minute or two.
    Reconnect everything: Restart.
    2. Totally Reset the Apple TV (this is more work since you'll need to add all your settings)
Whatever worked: My Apple TV resurrected itself (unfortunately can't say the same for my DVD player).
    3. Lastly, the timing of the storm could be a cooincidence - this happened to someone else here (no storm invoived) and it turned out to be a temporary outage at Apple. see this: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18027331#18027331
For the future, if you've grown paranoid...
I always unplug my computer for heavy storms (on the advice of a techie at power protection company), But  These days, if a storm is really severe (or very extended) I also unplug my AV equipment. the The ATV is chump change compared to the cost of my other components - but I've grown really dependant on it.
Remember: Surge suppressors will take the first hit, but often that's it, their circuitry can then get blown. Also if you do unplug power,  Unplug power for everything (very easy by connecting everything to a Surge suppressor) just don't forget RF Cables or ethernet cables (If you leave your router connected).
Personally, I leave my router on, and am willing to rebuy if neccessary, in order to at least access my laptops, and iPad. BUT this means I have to unplug the ethernet cables.
Good luck, doubt your ATV is toasted if anything comes up.

    TimesTen 7.0.5.0.0 Solaris 64-bit
    Platform: Solaris 10
    Hardware: SUN Netra CP3260 Blade
We had a brief power outage in our lab a couple of days a go. After the machines came back up, I noticed that we couldn't start TimesTen on three of the machines. When trying to start via ttDaemonAdmin I see the following message:

Does anyone know what this error means and how to fix it?

I originally reported this issue against tt 7.0.5.0.0. However 2 machines with the problem are 7.0.3.1.0 and 1 machine is 7.0.5.0.0. I got 2 machines going again by uninstalling TimesTen and re-installing it. I'm keeping the third one in this state in the hopes of finding another way to recover it besides uninstall and re-install.

  • Was there a power outage, or is my Time Capsule forcing me to update?

I ended up applying the update in anycase, but it seems weird, my Time Capsule started flashing orange. I loaded the airport utility, and it wanted to tell me to update. After updating everything was green. But why would it start flashing orange like that? Was there a power outage, or does the hardware notice the update availability, and stop functioning except to download and apply it?

  • My printers are missing after a power outage.

This is now the 4th time this has happened, but this time I have at least what I believe to be a cause. After a power outage of about 30 seconds this past thursday all of my printers attached to my imac have disappeared. Not only this, but when attempting to even press cmd p from any program that I could possibly print from slows down the system to a crawl, and eventually crashes. When going through system preferences the printers menu takes about 10 minutes even come up, and when it does, it's empty. When attempting to add a printer back the system once again slows to a halt eventually not responding. I've tried restarting multiple times, making a new user account (which worked for about 3 months the previous incident happened.) The only thing that has fully fixed this problem in the past was to re image the computer.
    Any help would be great.

Try resetting the printing system OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
if that doesn't help you may need to reinstall OS X. Consider getting a UPS if power outages are that common in your area.
