Lightroom 3 alive at Adobe - Switching process ?

Hello there, this is my first post to the Aperture forums ever, even if i've been a fellow user from the beginning... But that might well change soon, as i see that Adobe is really dedicated in making Lightroom the software of choice for photographers, whereas Apple seems to have abandoned ship !
That's not making me very comfortable, as i wasn't interested in switching and going to learn a new soft, but after all if it has to be that way, so be it... sights
Starting today, i'll be beta testing and learning Lightroom 3, running import tests and see how it goes, as i have a 15.000 more library to deal with. I'm more than worried on the experience that will come out of this, as i'll probably loose most of my photo work, not even talking about metadata !
Anyone thinking or running the same process wanna share thoughts about it ?
Jean-Luc

(hint: Apple give me anything here...even a "we're committed to Aperture moving forward" generality like they threw out before V2)
Sigh... I'm with you, although now I think it needs to be a lot more tangible than mere generalities. This is sad, sad, sad, but I too have just downloaded the LR3 beta to see what's in the works at Adobe and start preparing for any eventuality.
Let me repeat this again for the millionth time: I DO NOT WANT TO SWITCH. But I want Aperture to grow and to do it in a way that makes my work easier while offering me new possibilities.
My mind is reeling right now because after reading the release notes for LR3, I'm less and less convinced that I'll be able to keep on justifying using Aperture. Certainly not AP2. The bell now tolls...
We need something really special Apple, and fast. I know you can do it. Don't let us down, please.

    Mac or PC ? - I believe that Adobe switched the processing functions for 3D rendering in Photoshop CC to VRam.
    To upgrade the Vram on my existing iMacs cost-effectively entails new upgraded iMacs.
    So I am now needing to purchase new desktop computers for production purposes and seperately for an education institute - PC's or Macs?
    Is this shift to Vram for image rendering affecting any processing functions of the other applications in the suite - the ones I use the most are Photoshop, Bridge, Lightroom, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, inDesign, & SoundBooth
    I also use Strata 3D, Lightwave, Maya, Cinema 4D, Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro,
    I will be using the suite in a Graphic design, Photography, Video editing / sound recording / editing (I am also a musician), animation and 3D context.

    This forum is primarily for a few users like me to answer questions about installation, serial numbers and general issues regarding the Creative Suite. We don't have to expertise to answer questions like you're asking. Otherwise, few people visit this forum.
    You'd do best to pick the forums of the applications you use the most, especially applications that test the limits of your computer (probably Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop) and ask in those forums.

  • Lightroom 5.6 controls are switching?

    I updated to Lightroom 5.6 via Creative Cloud. I am very confused by the controls being inconsistent Some of the recent galleries have Recovery, Fill Light, Brightness controls (which I remember from Lr 4 but have not used in quite awhile). Other galleries I have Highlights, Shadows, and Whites controls, which is what I was using before the update. When I check for updates withing each gallery I get "The software is up to date"  But when I move from one gallery to another, I am having to change the "way I think" and there does not seem to be a way to get it back to normal.  What going on?

    Fill Light & Brightness.. are present when photo was last edited using a legacy process version (2003 or 2010).
    Shadows & Highlights.. are present when photo was last edited using current process version: 2012.
    To switch process versions: use the camera calibration section in develop module (at the bottom), or if you want to go legacy -> current, just click the lightning bolt under the histogram, or use the Settings menu: Update to Current Process Version (2012).
    PS - new photos are always current process version, unless you apply a preset upon import to change that.., but old photos stay whatever they were forever, or until you change them - thus the reason why some are one process version, and some are another process version..

  • How do I get rid of embedded adobe reader process windows and taskbar icons?

    In the lastest versions of Adobe reader I've come across the issue of finding an adobe task bar icon and a small adobe reader process window for each PDF document that I have open witin an Internet explorer tab. This is driving me crazy. At first I thought it was jut an issue with the machine that I'm on, but I have now seen this happen in multiple computers. Anyone have any ideas on how to keep these from clogging my screen and taskbar?
    I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Internet Explorer version 10.0.9200.16686, and Adobe Reader 11.0.4.

    Group similar buttons on the taskbar
    Taskbar buttons represent open programs on your computer. When you have several programs  open at once, the taskbar might seem crowded with buttons. To help organize the taskbar and save space, you can group similar taskbar buttons so that all of the open files from one program are grouped into one taskbar button, like this:
    Grouped taskbar buttons
       Open Taskbar and Start Menu Properties by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Taskbar and Start Menu.
    Select the Group similar taskbar buttons check box so that it is checked. (To turn off grouping, clear the Group similar taskbar buttons check box.)

  • Adobe HCM Processes and Forms Start processes iView error

    Hi,
    We are implementing Adobe HCM processes. The forms based on the PCR technology are working fine. However, we want the new HCM Processes and Forms technology. • Regarding scripting in adobe HCM process and forms

    Hi Gurus,
    I am working on adobe HCM process and forms. Configuration has been done for HCM process and forms and I am getting the scenario stage level in the forms based on which I will give the visibilty to differenct levels of approvals in the form.Scripting has been done for that.
    When form is initially loaded, I am making invisible some of the fields. On choosing the drop down the value that I make invisible is visible again. I found that Scenario stage that I bound to the form attribute is getting cleared off, when drop down event is called. Drop down event calls the generic services to fill the drop down values. Drop down used is from ISR Controls from the library.
    The scripting that I used in the drop down event is as belows
    if (xfa.form.data.Page1.FORM_SCN.rawValue == "INIMGR_LVL1")
      xfa.form.data.Page1.DE.DEContent.HR_VIEW.presence = "invisible";
    xfa.form.data.Page1.FORM_SCN.rawValue  this is getting cleared off. Form SCN is the field in the form where in which I bound the attribute scenario stage.
    Pls help me on this.
    Regards,
    Krishnan  Paramasivan

    Solomon,
    Thanks for the earliest response. can you explain me in detail. Where to check/select the form scenario stage field to be passed over. In scripting the coding written as below:
    xfa.record.CONTROL_PARAM.ISR_EVENT.value = "DD_GET_POSITION";
    ContainerFoundation_JS.SendMessageToContainer(event.target, "submit", "", "", "", "");
    DD_GET_POSITION is the event created in generic services and used in the user events in the form scenario stage in HRASR_DT.
    Any further guidance on this ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Krishnan

  • Can I upgrade to CS6 from Lightroom 4.2 or Adobe Premier Elements?

    Can I upgrade to CS6 from Lightroom 4.2 or Adobe Premier Elements . . . or both?

    I know it's a bit late to respond, but wanted to tell you what I think of Adobe's support.
    I have bought numerous Adobe products over the years and would have expected a bit more accommodation when wanting to upgrade.  It was not that I'm unwilling to pay the princely sums you ask for your programs, but you could at least give loyal customers some consideration, say a 10% or 15% discount to "upgrade."  Well, since you don't, won't, and will not even consider it, I will never purchase another Adobe product!
    I know I'm only a very small drop in the bucket, but I do plan to tell my friends, and they'll probably tell their friends, and so it goes.  You'll probably never even notice it, but I hope that you remember that you have got to treat your customers right and honorably, no matter how little they spend!

  • Lightroom 1.4 Installs Adobe Downloader on Vista Again

    Just a reminder to the Lightroom team that the Adobe Downloader with Lightroom on Vista is defective/incompatible and causes Lightroom to either fire-up or crash when one plugs in any USB device on Vista. The downloader is incompatible with Vista please fix this or do not reinstall on Vista based machines please.

    It seems that your 10.1.4 installation is corrupted; do the following:
    uninstall the corrupted Reader using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
    download and install Reader 10.1.4 from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
    download and install the Reader 10.1.13 update from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=10&platform=Windows
    disable Protected Mode using the registry script from https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/ec0f495a-e618-47c7-9ee8-c2d294b2aca7

  • Lightroom opens new images in old process

    Using Lightroom 3.5.  It seems to me in the past that my images would import and the 2010 process would be applied automatically.  However, no matter what I do, I'm getting to the "!" on my new imports.  I know how to change it or fix it.  But I guess I have forgotten what to do to force Lightroom to default to the 2010 process.

    You mean 2010.
    Absolutely! We're still in 2011, anyhow!

    I'm not sure on a Mac, but when I have this issue, I simply kill the thread (task-manager/processes/select the process, kill thread)
    I have had no ill effects doing this.
    It is my belief, it is the cloud, since they have a dcc connection, you can disconnect from the cloud, close everything, and the cloud is still connected to you. This is a feature of their update process I suppose.(speculation)  Additionally, I remember reading somewhere this issue was due to applying administrative permission at the instigation of the installation. (which I do allow *some* trusted companies to have this so updates can be applied during my downtime. )
    I have never had any overt issues after killing the thread and I have done that many times.
    Hope this helps

  • Is it possible to invoke external REST web service hosted in WebLogic web application from an Adobe LiveCycle Process (ES-4)

    Is it possible to invoke an external REST web-service hosted in WebLogic web application from an Adobe LiveCycle Process (ES-4) with parameters as input and manipulating the response depending on the type of parameters it gets back. Then invoking an Adobe Form and prepopulating the Form based on the response parameters? Do you have sample projects that do this invocation. The part highlighted in red is what I need examples.

    You can simply use "Execute Script" operation in Workbench and make use of java.net.URL. Below links should help :
