Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS 5

Hello, I bought a new camera Canon 6D. I use Photoshop CS5 extended version and Lightroom 3.6. It won't let me open the Raw images in either program. Can you please help me. Thank you. Jessica

That camera requires at least Lightroom 4.3 or Camera Raw 7.3. Camera Raw 7.3 is only compatible with Photoshop CS6. So your choice is to at least upgrade your Lightroom, which will work with your version of Photoshop. Or the other choice is to use the DNG converter to create DNG copies of your raw files. But having Lightroom 3.5 is really limiting your capabilities when compared with what is available today. The choice, however, is yours.

Would like to check compatibility of Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC with OSX Maverick.   Will I have to reinstall these apps after I upgrade?

Okay, that is helpful. What resolution you have a file set to makes no difference at all. It can be 10 dpi or 1000 dpi. Resolution only makes a difference to an output device (printer).
Notice to the right that the brush icons, and the brush sample are smooth. So it's not a driver, profile, or monitor resolution or color depth issue. If it were, they'd look just as bad.
So that only leaves the image itself. Though for the life of me, I can't get PS CC to duplicate what you're seeing. The smaller brush stroke to the lower left on your screen shot looks normal, so why are the larger ones banding so badly? It doesn't make sense.
Edit: Oh! Wait, something is wrong here. You have the opacity of the brush set at 27%. So there's no way it should be drawing a solid black center. It should look like below where I changed the opacity to 27% and then drew the grayish strokes.
The opacity is not being represented correctly. No idea at the moment what would be the cause.

  • Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS3 do not recognise Canon PowerShot S90 raw files

My husband has lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS3 but they don't recognise CanonPowershot S90 camera raw files. I've tried searching for the problem on internet but can't find anything that helps. Adobe's DNG converter doesn't work either. I've tried different versions of the DNG converter to no avail. Buying a new Adobe product is out of the question.
Another problem is that his e-mail address has been changed so that he can't login to his Adobe account. We used to be able to contact Adobe Netherlands by phone or email but that option isn't available anymore.
    Can anyone help please?

    Go to here:
Adobe - Lightroom : For Windows : Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.6
    or here:
Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh : Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.6
for the final versions of LR3. Download and install the software. You do not need to remove your present installation first, LR will install over it and fix any faults that now exist.
Your husband can log onto his Adobe account with the old email address and when in the account can edit the address to the new one.

Is there a list of the files and/or folders that contain Settings and Preferences which can be copied from the old system to the new?

with your cc apps you should try to use the sync feature.  that's never worked consistently for me, but when it does work, it's helpful.
there are preference folders and presets and settings that you could copy but you're better off installing fresh because a common problem for people with adobe program issues is a settings issue.

  • Hi. I am downloading the trail versions of both Lightroom 5 and Photoshop cc. When I purchace will I be given the option to have the 'Photography' package

Hi. I am downloading the trail versions of both Lightroom 5 and Photoshop cc. When I purchase will I be given the option to have the 'Photography' package?

Yes, of course. They are separate things - while technically identical, there are simply different licensing models, but this is not in any way apparent in the demo versions.

  • Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS3

I have a problem where changes or if I edit pictures in Lightroom 2.0, these changes are not reflected in the actual picture if I open them in Photoshop CS3.
Is this a known issue with Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS3 or there is some sort of a workaround?

    >in Lightroom 2.0
Upgrade to Lightroom 2.1 ASAP. Fixed many bugs and it's free.
Anyway. What kind of files? How do you open the file in Photoshop, through the "edit in Photoshop feature" or do you open it separately from Finder/explorer? Do you get a dialog that asks whether you want to edit with changes or the original?

  • Lightroom 4 and Photoshop 5

I have Lightroom 4 and photoshop 5 on my iMac but would like to run them on my new macbook also is this possible and if so how do I do it?

If I upgrade Lightroom from 3.6 to 4, but leave Photoshop at CS5.5, will there be any problems with Camera Raw? Will I end up with two versions of Camera Raw or any incompatibility between the new Camera Raw and CS5.5?
You will not get two versions of the ACR plugin itself installed, because LR incorporates this internally within its program. CS5.5 and its own ACR will be unaffected.
However the communication method between the new LR and your PS version, and also the nature of adjustments saved by LR onto images which are then opened into PS, will suffer some reduced compatibility compared with how you work now.
There are options for passing images from LR to PS, whereby LR renders its adjustments into a bitmap file which PS then opens directly (completely bypassing ACR) - and in that case, ACR support of Raws or editing metadata becomes accordingly moot. LR steps fully into this role, in other words.
This workaround does restrict the functions of passing multiple images for HDR or stitching or as layers.
It also impairs the use of Smart Object workflow since embedded image data may have LR4 edits saved onto it, which cannot be properly used when the Smart Object is later opened into the older-version ACR for further adjustment.
Where a particular image has been worked on inside LR4 using the older process version (2010) - which is fully LR3-compatible (as your current ACR is also) - there will in that special case, be the same compatibility of metadata and adjustments as you currently experience. In effect, for that particular image, LR4 emulates LR3.

  • Re-installing Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6

I intend to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit, which apparently means a clean install. Can I back up both Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6 for re-installation or will I have to make a fresh install from the discs. Furthermore CS6 was an upgrade to CS4 so will I also have to reinstall CS4. Will I need to deactivate or can I save the activation details?

Lightroom: No activation required so you can just reinstall. Download the latest 4.x release and install it rather than from your disk and upgrading - it is just cleaner.
PS, you need to deactivate on the existing machine. Install CS6 upgrade first and when prompted provide your CS4 information. Then activate on the new machine.

  • Lightroom 5 and photoshop syncing between 2 computers??

I am a current user of lightroom 5.7 and photoshop, they were purchased and not through a subscription. I currently run them both on a iMac and macbook pro. I am wondering how i can sync my photos between the 2 computers with any editing i do on either computer.  What r my best options to do that.

Without a Cloud subscription, I don't believe you can use Adobe file syncing

So, I think you need to use some other file sync solution

Same thing if I choose open as smart object nothing happens. I am have the latest updates. Using latest version of lightroom and Photoshop CS5.1.  Can anyone shed some light on my issue?

  • Lens Correction in Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS4

I just upgraded to Lightroom 3 and make use of the lens correction feature in the develop module. After doing all my
adjustments in develop I click ctrl-E to take the photo into Photoshop so  I can tweak Levels. I noticed that the lens correction adjustments do not seem to be recognized by CS4 when the photo opens up.
Do I have to upgrade to CS5 to get the lens correction adjustments in LR3 recognized or am I doing something wrong. Thanks

    I am using Lightroom 3.4, x64, and Photoshop CS5 (12.0.3 x64) on Win 7 OS.
I might add that, based upon my situation, limited knowledge & experience, I have a number of images ( aprox 200), taken with the same camera/lens combination, for which I want to take advantage of what seem to me the most useful features of each software package:  in this case, the ability of Lightroom to apply common "development", first in lens correction and, later at the end, miscellaneous common settings; but, in the middle rotation & crop unique to each image.
Am I missing something, for I would think my situation not uncommon?

    HELP!!!

    G'day Curt,
I smacked myself on the forehead when I read your reply. How could I have forgotten to do that? However, after trying that, the problem persists and more files are corrupting. I now have around ten files of around 200 in a party folder I have that have corrupted. They all were perfect several days ago.
I'm starting to get worried as I work for the local rag and have social pics this weekend to process. I can't afford to let this happen to them.
    Thanks for the suggestion....

  • I talked with Adobe Yesterday about removing Elements from my Mac, if there were any concerns with Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CS6

The answered no, that all I needed to do with Elements was to drag it to the Trash. I did that. Now in Lightroom 5 do I not see Photoshop in the EDIT IN menu, all my plug-is are missing as well! Ive found two papers on the subject, one for both programs where they say to find the Lightroom fine "com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist" and a similar Photoshop fine in >user>Library>Preferences. Neither exist on my mac! Im in a process of a system search to make sure, but so far, no good!
I'm looking for a fix, PLEASE. To stop and delete both programs, reinstall this and ALL the plug-in's isn't something I want to contemplate if I don't have to!

Sorry Keith, I didn't look at it as a duplicate post since I initually approached it as a Photoshop issue and have since come to see it as a lightroom issue. I've subedquently found the photoshop preference file, deleted it and restarted Photoshop which recreated that file. That didn't help.
SInce my initial concern was with Photoshop I failed to notice than none of the Lightroom plug ins were showing up. Researching that fix, what I found was essentially the same as with Photishop except the Lightroom preference file. Now I'm not finding that file but I'm doing a full system search.
Some caveats to all of this are, the photoshop and Lightroom plug ins are the same. Theyre resident and run in CS6. Additionally in Lightroom if I go to preferances> external edit, I see photoshop and all the plug ins listed there.

  • Lightroom 2 and Photoshop Elements 6 Organiser

    Hi:-)
I have had a look at a friend's set up with Lightroom and CS3, and I have decided to use Lightroom myself.
However, at present I do not use, (and do not intend to use!) CS3, and instead use Photoshop Elements 6.0. My editing skills are limited, and Elements offers what I need for my RAW files. I prefer the workflow and categorising facilities of Lightroom, which is why I am buying it.
My question is, can I easily convert my existing PSE 6.0 catalog into Lightroom, or perhaps it will automatically subsume it? I would prefer to discontinue the PSE Organiser, but retain the Editor function. I think they are 2 separate programs, but would welcome anybody's opinion as to whether this is likely to cause me problems.
    Many thanks
    Alan

You can migrate the PSE6 catalog into Lightroom 2. Here's the help

  • Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS6 problem when editing

    Hi,
I have just upgraded to Photoshop CS6 and now when I 'edit in Photoshop CS6' from lightroom and save it, the image doesn't appear next to the original RAW file as it did before. Now lightroom creates its own folder with the edited files in.
For example, I edited a RAW file from a folder called Bissoe valley from Lightroom and saved it. When I go back to Lightroom the edited image is not next to the original file but in a seperate folder called 'Bissoe valley'. I then try to drag the edited image back into the original 'Bissoe valley folder with the original RAW file and it says 'the file already exists at the destination'
I appologise if this has already been asked. I'm guessing I need to buy Lightroom 4 because of incompatibility issues? It wouldn't surprise me if this is the case.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Victoria....you are a legend!
You can see here lightroom has created folders identically named to the folder which the original files belong to (coco, Harriet, Bissoe and independent assignment)
The really confusing part is that when I look in the original folder outside of Lightroom, the saved Tiff image is there next to the original.
I think I will try uninstalling ps cs6 and go back to cs5 to see if it solves the problem and take it from there....
