Lightroom 3 auto advance working oddly

Mac OSX 10.6.2
While in develop module, LR2 would not auto advance it you clicked on star or color label. It would auto advance if you typed in number.
LR3, auto advance always on. If I turn on caps lock, it turns off, if I click shift while pressing number, it will not advance. Seems to be working opposite as it should. No longer a menu item to turn this feature on and off?

OK, I see it is in the menu while you are in library module, not develop module. Still, auto-advancing more than it did in LR2 when in develop module. Guess it is something I need to get used to.

Lightroom 3.6 Slide Show auto-advance

I just got a new computer and use Lightroom 3.6. Now when I make a slide show and save it as a PDF it won't auto-advance to the next slide when running. When I review it in Lightroom it auto-advances fine but when I run the PDF file it sticks on the first slide and must be advanced manually. I believe I'm running the latest version of Adobe Reader as I just downloaded it last week when I got my new computer. Can someone explain how to get the auto-advance feature running like it did on my old computer? Thanks.

I don't use the slideshow module very often. But I just quickly created a small slideshow. In my little test the images did not auto-advance until I went into full-screen mode. Then it worked just fine. Also, make sure you haven't checked "Manual Slideshow" in your options.

Will aperture auto advance to display each new image when shooting tethered?

I've tethered successfully with the Canon 6D using either Lightroom or Aperture. When using Lightroom, it will automatically load the new image for display on my external monitor. I cannot find a way to have the same result with Aperture and I would much prefer to use Aperture so the images can be imported directly into the Aperture library. Am I missing something or is this not possible? I like to work from the camera, not sitting at the computer.

Short answer: Yes.
When you initiaite a thethered session, there is a checkbox in the tether HUD that turns auto-advance on or off. The default is on.
If you have tried it and it doesn't work, what are the symptoms?

I know how to disable auto advance by clicking photo tab and unchecking auto advance, however I would like to have this feature permanently disabled. It really messes up my workflow!
It’s getting very frustrating to have to remind myself with each project to disable the function prior to commencing work. Any suggestions?

The auto advance setting should be remembered between Lightroom sessions. It does on my system Lr5.5 OSX 10.8.5. The shortcut for autoadvance is CapLock and if you have the CapLock key turned on when you open Lr it will turn auto advance on. Turn CapLock off and make sure auto advance is off in the menu and then exit and reload Lr. It should then be off. If this doesn't work I would delete the Preferences file and rebuild it. Maybe something is stuck. I think READING the CapLock key on startup instead of reading the Preferences on startup is a bad design or maybe this is a random glitch/bug. Don't leave my CapLock on so my testing was minimal. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Could you provide more details? Is this the copy of your catalog, or the original catalog? Are you sure you didn't accidentally open some other catalog? If you try the catalogs under File->Open Recent, do you find your photos?
I did check the back-ups, and all the pictures are there, however with a ? on every photo. What do I do to get my photos back into my original Lightroom 5 without the ? marks?
Backups will work properly if you restore the catalog file and the photos to their ORIGINAL locations.

Training project is auto-advancing instead of being student-driven.

Using Captivate 5.0, I have developed some training simulations. I have set the click boxes with the following properties:
So in other words, the user should be in control of advancing the slides, once they've clicked the right spot! The projects are being published as swf. I'm also creating an html file so that these can be embedded as web objects into an Articulate Presenter project. HOWEVER, when I go to view the published training simulation, it is auto-advancing. It's as if none of the clickboxes are working, and as if it is a demo!

Sounds like you have never had Captivate training.
Click Boxes are transparent by their very nature. There is nothing you need to do to "hide" them from your user. The "Visible" check box is there so you can hide them from the Flash Player at runtime. For example, maybe you have a Click Box that should only become "clickable" once the learner performs an action. So you would toggle off visibility then using Advanced Actions you would turn visibility back on and make it become clickable.

I copied a slide from a self-paced presentation to add to a click-paced presentation but it keeps auto advancing. How do I get that to stop?

So, the title says it all, I think. In the Set-up tab, the "guilty" slides show the same global choice as the others for "Presentation Type" (Normal not Self-playing). I don't see anything to click for an individual slide to stopit from auto-advancing. What to do?

Thermostat: Auto even work? (with or without Schedules)

Does Auto even work for anyone? I've been playing around with Auto without a schedule moving the upper and lower around to force a trigger of the system to make it warmer or colder. It appears to only respond on the setting (heat or cool) that was last used. It doesn't seem to trigger a "heat" if now the lower limit has been reached and the last setting was "cool" and vice versa. So not sure Auto even works. And then Schedules were seeming to make it commit to one side or the other as well and actually go off the Auto setting. What am I missing here?

From the manual, it appears that under the System box on the main display you should see Heat / Off / Cool / Auto. I was not seeing Auto as an option, although I was seeing Auto on the device control on the website and in the iphone app. Didn't know if my model, by some chance, didn't have the option as I didn't see the possibility to change any setting under normal Advanced Settings. But, if you look under the Installer Advanced Settings there is setting 300 (this doesn't come up under the normal Advanced Settings), there is a 0 = Auto Off and 1 = Auto On. I made this change and now Auto shows up as a choice on the main thermostat screen. So now I am assuming Auto will work with the temperatures as I lay them out. I will test this shortly and get back to this post, but I'm assuming this is fixed. AT&T, now the question is, did the installer not turn this on for a reason or was it an oversight? Just want to make sure that I don't turn it on and then do something weird to my HVAC.

Auto advance when tethering in Aperture 3

Does anyone know how I can set Apreture 3 to autoadvance to the newest frame when shooting with a tethered camera? I've looked everywhere and cant seem to figure this out.

Just tested again to be sure since I usually run with auto-advance off. Works as described on a Macbook Pro runnning Aperture 3.2.1 on OS X 10.7.2. Checking/unchecking Auto Select turns advance on or off as expected.
What versions of stuff are you running?
Also are you in full screen mode? I noticed some funny/inconsistent behavior when switching full-screen mode on and off during tethering. Don't have time to spend with it now, sorry. Try it with full-screen on and off and see what happens.

Stopping pdf slideshows from auto-advancing.

Is it possible to stop the PDF slideshow exports from LR from automatically advancing? I want it to remain on the slides until I hit the cursor button (like I can do from within LR.) My pdf slideshows, however, keep auto-advancing. I can get it to advance FASTER in either direction by hitting the cursor buttons, but I can't "stop" it from auto-advancing completely, which is what I want.
The LR slideshow export page says that "Adobe Acrobat transitions use a fixed speed," but I thought that this meant that you couldn't change the speed of the transition itself. Can you also not change the "rate of advancing" to the next slide? As I said, I want to make it NEVER advance until I tell it to, but I can't figure out how to do this.

Forgive me, but this is really confusing me. You said to make sure the "Advance every xxx seconds" box in Reader is checked, but then you said that if it's UNchecked, there will no auto advance. The way I'm reading this, these two statements contradict each other. Which way do you set it to stop the auto advance?
You also said to make sure the xxx number in Reader is set to a number of seconds equal or greater to the LR setting, but than you said that if it's "greater than," LR's setting will prevail. If the LR setting prevails, how is this preventing auto advance? By saying to set it to "equal or greater than" the LR value, it seems like you're saying that you'll get a certain behavior for BOTH cases (i.e. both 'equal' AND 'greater than' will result in a certain behavior.) What specific aspect of the behavior are you referring to when you say to set it "equal or greater than" the LR value?

To what extent does auto-syncing work...?

I have researched this but can not find the answer anywhere.
I need to know to what extent does auto-syncing work?
I started my library quite some time ago, and I didn't want to use the auto-sync feature. My library has grown very large and to be honest, I still wouldn't mind doing the manual syncing if my behavior and/or needs hadn't changed. However, I am now going back and adding artwork and making some slight modifications to several songs. Overall, through one type of change or another, this will affect the vast majority of my library. What I need to know is if I were to make info-related changes, will the syncing make the modifications on the ipod, or will they be ignored?
For instance, here are some of the types of changes that I am beginning to make:
- Adding Artwork.
- Changing a track name from "Living in a box" to "Livin' in a box"
- Adding info to the various fields such as album author, comments.
- Modifying a track name from "Love is a Battlefield" to "Love Is A Battlefield"
- Changing an album name from "Miami Vice Soundtrack" to "Miami Vice [Soundtrack]" or "Shrek (Soundtrack)" to "Shrek [Soundtrack]"
- Updating an artist's name from "Jackson Five" to "Jackson 5"
Any insights would be most appreciative.

While in Manual sync, any changes you make in iTunes will not get put onto the iPod until you drag the songs over.
Any changes you make on the iPod thru iTunes will not be on the original in iTunes.

Any reason you are using manual sync instead of Auto sync?
If you don't want (or can't) to put everything in iTunes on the iPod, use selected playlists and manage those playlists.
When you make changes to the songs in iTunes, they will get updated onto the iPod automatically.

Question slides auto advancing prior to an answer being selected

Hi-
I have searched the postings and cannot find anything similar to what I am experiencing.
This only happens once the user has gone through the quiz once and has failed. The passing grade is a 100%, so the chances of someone needing to re-take the quiz is rather high. What happens is when the user gets to say question 3 or so, after about 10 to 15 seconds, the slide auto advances to the next question and does not allow the user to go back and answer the question. Then on the next question it will not allow the user to select an answer.
This does not happen the first time through the quiz, only the second time through.
Has anyone else experienced this before? Any ideas of what setting I have wrong? I have all of my question sides set up the same; I have T/F and M/C.
I am using Captivate 4 (with all updates) and running the quiz through GeoLearining (our LMS).

Just a note...I have checked the timing in the playbar and it is the same for all questions and it happens on question 1 and question 9 as far as I can tell. I am not able to see how these questions are set up any differently than the other quesitons in the quiz. There are only 15 questions total in this program and a total of 20 slides.

Captivate 7: slide with mouse will not auto advance after publishing

After I export my Captivate video, any slide that has a mouse object on it does not auto advance. I suspected that maybe the clicking sound file default attached to the action may have become corrupted, so I opened the sound file attached to "single-click" from Captivate. In the VisualClicks folder, there were no sound files. So, I opened the ClickSounds folder and attached the Mouse.mp3 file to this action. After publishing the training, the slide still will not auto advance. The slides that do not have the mouse action advance automatically as they should. The sound file may not be the issue (going to try to uncheck all of the Mouse Click Sound check boxes and republish to see if that helps).
Was hoping to find a solution for future videos.
Each slide is basically a layer of audio > slide > png file > the occasional smart object and/or text > mouse. I have no quizzes or video.
When publishing I use the following setup swf/html5 with swf + html5 checked and scalable HTML content checked. We use Google Chrome and I've had numerous people try my HTML link after I've uploaded all files and everyone has the same issue.
1- Do you happen to know why the mouse action would cause the slide to not auto advance, and if so please let me know a solution so the user doesn't have to click next. If the mouse itself isn't the culprit, any other suggestions on what could cause this?
2- Is there a way to make changes to the audio or override the mouse properties on all slides? I tried right clicking and "use the current mouse pointer for all slides" but it didn't change any of the properties. Thankfully my video is only 110 slides or it would have been even more painful.

For the record, I did create a new project with only two slides to try and duplicate the issue. I had the same problem. I unchecked the Mouse Click Sound check box, republished and the slide auto advanced. I'm wondering if a default sound file was somehow moved or deleted? I discussed uninstalling and reinstalling C7 onto my laptop, but that's a frustrating solution haha

How do I stop Full Screen Mode from auto advancing?

I am attempting to show a PDF slide show in Full Screen Mode. The slides autoadvance and I can't find out how to stop it. I went to Preferences and made sure that the box with the faded 5 sec was not checked for auto advance but the program still advances. Any help?

I can't get either Acrobat 9 Pro or Reader X to do this and I tried with several PDFs. Unchecked, nothing advances automatically. Maybe someone else has some insite.
