Lightroom 3 has stopped uploading to flickr

Hi, I have recently started using Adobe Lightroom 3 to upload my images to flickr and it has been working OK for a couple of week but now keeps returning error messages which are either that it failed to establish a connection to Flickr and I should check my internet settings or that the file I am uploading is too large and I should try something smaller. My connection is fine and the image sizes have not changed. I contacted Adobe support but they said it was not their problem and I should contact Flickr. I personally think it is a Lightroom problem rather than flickr's as I can upload using the Flickr up-loader so I'm asking if anyone else has had a similar problem.

Hi Sally,
Sorry to hear of your difficulties and I also see you have posted onto the Flickr forum. I have no answer to your stated problems particularly in light of your success with the Flickr up loader. I cannot explain that.
In case relevant, the images I send up, which are not cropped, are all “the same size” (Canon 5D Mk II) however I occasionally still get one image in a batch which will jam the entire upload. This is because with the Flickr publish service jpg quality I have set (some would argue unnecessarily) a jpg quality of 100%, my full res files are pushing the 20MB Flickr limit on a pro account. The size limit for a free account is 15MB. Even though the crop pixel size stays the same, some images compress better to jpg than others depending on their content. It is unfortunate that the LR publisher does not tell you which of the files is failing.
I find out which image(s) is a problem by doing an export to my local disk with exactly the same settings as the Flickr up loader i.e. quality, sharpening and watermark and then by looking in the file system I can see which images have exceeded the limit. The last time this occurred, I temporarily wound back the uploaded LR publishing quality to 90% just to get this failing image up.
I use Flickr a great deal with LR, and I know this is subjective, but in the last week I have had some reliability issues with Flickr uploads from LR, the Flickr desktop tool and the Flickr web page up loader. This is for both images and time lapse videos. It even led to me briefly look to see if Flickr had a service status log on the web. I could not find one.
LR (vsn 3.5) has fixed some bugs with the Flickr publish service and although it still has some faults I generally find it very reliable and I am doubtful this is the source of your troubles.
If you are suffering a loss of confidence in the out of the box LR publishing service you could try the excellent Flickr plugin created by Jeffrey Friedl (google it). This would give you another opinion. If you are using the Flickr web based up loader you may also wish to try their desktop application to give another view. I have now stopped using the Friedl plugin because I now find the LR built in one is good enough.
I have used all the methods of publishing I’ve mentioned fairly extensively, but I have to say I (now) find the out of the box LR Flickr service to be sufficient for me and quite reliable. It has other niggles, but that’s another matter. I know this answer is possibly just “noise” against your question, but felt I needed to add some balance to some of the Flickr feedback you have had.
My suspicion would be Flickr, your ISP or your local infrastructure and consider when you get a size failure double checking your limits by exporting locally.
Hope you have sorted it by now.
Alan.

iTunes Match has stopped uploading - every file errors and says waiting - I have tried to delete the files and use other formats etc. I have had the service since Day 1 and NEVER had an issue. It didn't start until the Delete from Cloud switch to Hide from cloud - the files that do not upload show grayed out on my other devices.

Have you confirmed that you successfull purged iTunes Match by also looking on an iOS device? If so, keep in mind that Apple's servers may be experiencing a heavy load right now. They just added about 19 countries to the service and I've read a few accounts this morning that suggests all's not running perfectly right now.

• Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working error

Updated to latest CC version - everything worked as expected for a couple of days - earlier this afternoon LR started (and continues) to crash. "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working" error - I followed various bits of support instructions - uninstalling - re-installing - signing out and back in - downloaded and engaged "Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool" - now, several hours later, the problem has not been resolved - I urgently need to get back to my project. Unfortunately, I even followed the thread that instructed to uninstall the previous 5.7.1 version.
Please assist asap - regards Kalli

Did not tinker with any of the setting options in the preference dialog. Just installed and worked successfully for a couple of days using the default settings.
Since the first crash some hours ago, LR has not stayed open making it impossible to try different settings.
The default install provided a fully working app - I tried out the new feature and soon after went back to my project.
Could the fact that I uninstalled the previous - 5.7.? version have anything to do with this?
How can I re-install the previous version at it was stable?
Do any of you have any answers?
And / or do you know how to engage Adobe?
Thanks - Kalli

• "Edit in Photoshop" link from Lightroom has stopped working.

My "Edit in Photoshop" link from Lightroom has stopped working. If I hit "Cmd E" in Lightroom, Photoshop opens, but the picture doesn't appear. I have LR 5 and PS CC 2014. I recently uninstalled or deleted PS 6 & PS CC (not PS CC 2014). Any suggestions?

Same problem here. I uninstalled Photoshop CS5 and reinstalled. No change. I also tried dumping PS preferences
It opens the Photoshop application with all the menus/windows, but it never opens the actual image I chose to work on.
I'm on a Mac, using OS X Yosemite, 10.10.1 Lightroom is version 5.7 Photoshop is CS5, version 12.0.4
FWIW, I also can't automate>Photomerge ... . Makes me think Photoshop, not Lightroom, is all wacky.

• Iphoto has stopped uploading photos and frozen. I have paid online for the book - what to do?

Hi there.. iphoto has stopped uploading photos and the programme has frozen on me. It assembled the book (step 1.), then did not complete the upload (step 2). Prior to these steps I provided my C/C detals and paid for the book. i had to Force Quit the iPhoto app, and now wondering what to do!? If I try to buy the book again, then it asks for my C/C details...

Did you get a confirmation email from Apple? Click on the Store button at the top of this page and use the Account ➙ Track a Purchase link. That will tell you if they received your book. Apple doesn't charge the card until it is shipped. You can also check with your credit card company to see if there's been a charge from Apple.
Try previewing the book by Control-clicking in the background of the view all pages in iPhoto and select Preview Book or Save Book as PDF:
If that process fails then there's a work around for it. Boot into Safe Mode and preview the book again to make sure you can get a PDF of the book. If you can then order the book while still in Safe Mode. Save the PDF file to compare with the printed book. If the PDF file is satisfactory the printed book should match it.
What size book are you ordering? Xtra large?

• Lightroom has stopped running windows is searching for a solution to the problem"

Lightroom stopped running on Vista 32 windows error message says "Lightroom has stopped running windows is searching for a solution to the problem"...Also some RAW images opened in CS2, Bridge or Lightroom have bands of different colors depending on the image and are unusable. At the same time Lightroom works fine on my laptop running Vista 32.

Are you looking at the images at 100% resolution? Banding can appear in other enlargements due to rounding errors.

• HELP!! Lightroom has stopped working.

Just added serial number to my trial program & it was loading & working just fine for a couple minutes & then all of a sudden it just closed & stopped working. When I go to open it now it says "Lightroom has stopped working" check online or close program, but it doesn't do anything when I go to check online. also when I view program details...it says the even was APPCRASH. Does anyone know what happened. I assume yes, something crashed. But I tried uninstalling & reinstalling & it is still doing it! Can somebody help!!!??? Please?

Open a Windows Explorer, and navigate to the following directory:
"Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences\"
In there, you'll see a file called "Lightroom 3 Preferences.agprefs". Rename this file to "Lightroom 3 Preferences.agprefs.old", then start LR.

• Lightroom has stopped showing thumbnails on Import. How do I get my previews back?

My Lightroom (5.3) has stopped showing previews on Import. I can still see older Imports in Library but my latest Imports are just grey boxes. I can open the boxes in Develop and these stay as previews for up to 3 thumbnails in Library before disappearing again. I have tried reinstalling Lightroom 5. I have checked my sRGB. It is the same problem with different cards and different external drives.
How can I get my Library to show Preview thumbnails once more? Thanks, Angus

Could it be that the Camera Software is installed and it got Updated?
-Sometimes it happens that the "autoplay" uses the Codec for recognizing the files, and When Lightroom tries to do the same the files are in use, so it can not generate Previews/Thumbnails.
Do you get the same result if you Try to Import from Safe Boot?
- It could be that there is some software installed that now also manages during startup, also preventing Lightroom to Generate the Previews.
Have you tested with a new Catalog, do you get the same behavior there?
Also it might be far fetched, but incase you haven't seen it it might help you on the issue:

Hopefully this will help to resolve the issue.

• Lightroom has stopped opening up images into PS

Hello,

All of a sudden Lightroom has developed a new problem for me. In the Develop module when I right click on an image and go to open in Photoshop, I get this message:

Lightroom was unable to prepare the the selected file at <file name here> for editing. It will not be opening.

I am on Windows XP, Lightroom version 1.0 and using PSCS2. Nothing changed on my system. No new programs or any that have been removed.

Any ideas?

Are you editing a file from a folder? If so does this happen with all folders?
I had that same problem and determined it was from dragging and dropping in LR. The way I resolved it was to:
1. Copy (in windows explorer) all the files in the suspect folder to another folder
2. Delete the offending folder (in windows explorer)
3. Re-create the folder (in windows explorer)
4. Copy the files back in (with explorer again)
5. Re-import to LR
Don't know what causes this, but it worked for me
Good Luck

• Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working

Message appears at start up. It continues - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. I have not gotten any Windows notifications. I have reinstalled Lightroom 5.3, which says it will fix problems. What type of problems cause this and how to fix?

System problems / drivers...
If Lr used to work, try rolling back your system from a backup.
If not feasible, then try doing hardware checks and updating drivers..
(maybe sneak a peek in the windows event log).

First off I'm new to Lightroom. I moved up from Elements.
I upgraded to 3.4 and now when I select "develop" Lightroom stops working.
Any ideas?
I'm running windows 7 home 64 bit all updates are current.

• 'Lightroom has stopped Working ' - Fuji .RAF files - Anyone else?

I'm generally enjoying using the Beta version (especially the new Development Sliders) - but while the above error message has occured
only rarely when processing .CRW RAW files, it occurs most of the time when trying to work with Fuji .RAF RAW files from my X10. Almost any attempted use of the
Develop Mode causes the program to stop working. My computer has 8GB RAM - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and Intel Core Duo 3.06 GHz processor.
Anybody have any similar issue or comments? No problems occur with my 3.6 Version.
I am looking forward to the Final Version 4. Thanks for all your know-how and efforts with this program.

I have a very similar problem with psd files, less frequent with dng. LR4 is uses 50% of available cpu cycles. System is similar with 6GB memory.
