Lightroom 3 - restore a deleted folder from HD?

Hello!
When I first began using LR I don't think I understood the navigation correctly, because for one project, back in June, I created a folder and moved favorites (flagged and 5-starred) from other folders into that one. What I didn't realize until 5 minutes ago is that it actually moves those files on your HD as well! The folder in LR has long since been deleted and for a heart-stopping 15 minutes or so I thought all my favorite photos were gone as well.
What I found, however, was the original project folder with all my favorites on my HD. So that's okay - problem is, now when I try to bring the folders back into LR, it treats them all as new, untreated photos. It doesn't recognize them. It doesn't recognize any adjustments I've made, either. Even in Finder when I open the photos, they're all totally untreated.
My question: is there a way I can get LR to recognize those photos again? Or am I going to have to go one by one and re-do all my adjustments, keywords, and folder placement?
Thanks!
p.s. - I don't use LR's backup because I have an online backup service, but thanks to Murphy's Law, that's also on the fritz...

Thing is, I don't see how deleting the folder in LR (but not on the HD) would totally erase all adjustment information. Doesn't LR store that info somewhere else? Or inside the photo directly? Where did that info go?
That is logic: LR is a database(=catalog) with records about your images.
You can tell LR to delete a folder from its catalog, but not from the HD. This is tantamount to telling LR to throw away all information it ever had about these images.
As you speak of "project folders" you might err by thinking LR should work like e.g. DxO, but it does not.
LR is a metadata-database, nothing else.
There is a remote chance that you might get things back, if you had saved LR's catalog settings into xmp of the files (so sidecar files for proprietary raw formats, embedded for TIF, DNG, JPG). Did you ctrl s or have your preferences set to autowrite xmp?
I am afraid not, since you report that a new import does not reveal your former work - which it would, as import reads xmp if available.
So tough luck, I'm afraid. If you tell LR to delete from its database, it does so.

If i restore a user folder from time machine, is it just restoring the files associated with the user or programs as well? Im asking because Apple Store just reset my system and said to restore files i needed and not to do a full restore. to try and determine if it was a software issue causing the problems.

Just the user's folder. Nothing else. See Pondini's TM FAQs, for details.

  • How can I restore a deleted calendar from time machine

I accidentally deleted one of my calendars.  How can I restore it from time machine?

I'm not sure why it didn't work.  I deleted the old Calendar folder and then replaced it with a Time Machine version of the same folder from the previous day.  Then I opened iCal and there was still nothing there.
The reason I just deleted Calendar folder and it's sub-folders and tried to start from scratch is because I could tell which sub-folder was for any one specific calendar since the sub-folder names were in some sort of code.

  • How to restore a library folder from Time Machine BU

I had a problem synching my iPhone & MBP with iCloud and lost my iCal data. I have a Time Mach B/U but as you know, Mavericks hides all one's libraries. The iCal files are in a library folder. How do I get Mavericks to reveal my Libaries in the TM BU?

If you synchronize any of your calendars with a server such as iCloud, disable that synchronization. Quit Calendar.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Calendars
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Enter Time Machine and restore that folder from the snapshot you want.
Relaunch Calendar and test. Your calendars should be as they were when the snapshot was taken. If you don't sync with a server, stop here. If you do sync some of the calendars with a server, select each one in turn and then select
    File ▹ Export ▹ Export…
from the menu bar. You'll get ICS files with the filename extension ".ics". Re-enable sync. Usually, all the calendars you just restored will be deleted. That's not a problem. Create a new calendar on the server for each one you exported and want to sync:
    File ▹ New Calendar
Then import the calendar from the corresponding ICS file by double-clicking it. Follow the prompts to import the new events to the calendar you just created. For calendars that you don't want to sync, just import them again. They'll appear in the calendar list under On My Mac.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Delete folder from application server

Hy folks i'm been reading many topics about creating and deleting a folder ( entire folder) from application file.
i successufuly create a file by using command and  SM69   cmd /c   mkdir,
and that's ok, what i'm unable to do is to delete a directory.
    witch command should i use?
is it all possible to zip a folder?
    Regards.

    Hi,
you have to delete all files in your directory before deleting the directory. Otherwise, it is not possible.
    The command is: rmdir -p
CALL 'SYSTEM' ID 'COMMAND' FIELD 'rmdir -p'
                                  ID 'TAB'     FIELD tabl-*sys*
Afterwards, to Zip a folder, refer to the class CL_ABAP_ZIP.
    Rachid.

  • Can't Delete Folder from iCloud?

I downloaded a program from the app store to my iPhone called Documents 5 (produced by a company named Readdle).  The program placed a folder on my iCloud account titled Documents, with the app's logo on it.  I decided that I would not use the program so I deleted it from my phone.  I also deleted the folder from my iCloud drive using the Finder view on my desktop (drug and dropped it into the trash-- emptied the trash, and the folder was gone).  I noticed, however, that when I logged into iCloud from a browser, and then went into my iCloud drive the folder was still there.  I could find no way to delete it like other folders.  In short, something is preventing me from deleting this useless folder.  I looked in the drive using finder on my desktop and there it was again.  I contacted Readdle and asked them how to remove the folder, and they told me at this point there is absolutely no way to remove it from my iCloud drive.  The folder was self-generated by the app when I installed it and used it on my phone.  Is there truly no way to delete this?
    iMac running 10.10.1 Yosemite
    iPhone 4s with iOS 8.1.1

Apparently there isn't, at least not at this time.  This issue has been reported by others as well and there is no solution at this time.

  • How do I restore my deleted contacts from my iCloud backup?

I recently installed iOS 5.0.1 on my iPhone 4 and my wife's iPhone 4. When our contact list merged, I deleted the ones on my phone that I didn't want (all of hers). I didn't realize it was deleting them from her phone as well. We tried restoring both phones from backups created the day before but the deleted contacts did not return. My phone is backed up through iCloud and hers is backed up to our computer.

  • How to restore my deleted videos from my mac book pro

I had mistakenly deleted some of my iphone camera movies stored on my mac book bro, Can anyone help me to restore it back, if there is any free software.
    thanks & regards

One way to recover some real estate on your boot drive is to use Monolingual to remove all of the unneeded language modules. Just do not remove English or American English. Also do not use any of the other features of Monolingual. I saved nearly 1 GB of space on my MBP the first time I ran it.
You can't restore to an external HD. You could copy your current library to the external, make sure it's operating, delete it from the boot drive, enter TM and restore the library to the boot drive. When you've finished with the book, follow the directions in Old Toad's Tutorial #9 - Archiving an iPhoto 6/7 Book for Ordering Copies at a Later Date or #9a - Archiving an iPhoto 7/8 Book for Use/Editing at a Later Date so you can cull down the library so it will fit on a DVD/CD for archiving. Then delete the library from the boot drive and move your working library back to the boot drive.

  • Restored a Library folder from 2 years ago

    Hello,
In a desperate attempt to fix somtehing that was ultimately not fault of my macbook pro in any way, I decided to restore an old library folder from when I used Snow Leopard (now I'm using Mavericks) 2 years ago with time machine,
The question is that I am worried if this is going to have any bad effects on the system now that the macbook has new programs and uses Mavericks? What's the worst that could happen?
Everything has run normally so far, rebooted several times and everything seems ok.
    Thanks a lot.

There are several Library folder in OS X. Not including the iPhoto, iTunes, iMovie Library folders.
There is one in the ROOT of the drive, one in your user folder, one in the System folder. If you copied over a Snow Leopard ROOT Library folder to Mavericks I don't see how the system could still be working. That is unless it didn't really copy and or overwrite the mavericks library folder.
Why not start by detailing why you did this.

  • HT201317 how do i restore a deleted picture from iphone

How do I restore deleted picture from iphone 4s

If you've previously synced the pictures to a computer (as is generally advised to archive them), then they are gone, unless you have backed up the device to itunes or icloud.  If so, you need to perform a restore:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  This will erase your phone.  Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your phone is new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup.
Note that you cannot restore just one file, it's all or nothing.
