Lightroom 3 trial download and PSE8 catalogue import

This goes with another recent thread to do with importing Elements catalogues. I have not been able to find the command to upload my PSE8 catalogues into LR, but I did just import a whole set of about 2,000 images from my PSE directory and these all came into LR without any problems except that not all images had tags. Most of them arrived with the PSE tags, some did not. So all is not lost it seems if you cannot just load your PSE catalogue en-masse. It may take a bit of work, but manual importing seems to work. By the way, I have 5 different PSE catalogues which I use all the time, so they all current. This also allows me to keep adding photos to the PSE database, while I am still investigating LR, as the originals still reside in the PSE sub-folder. I presume using the "synch" button in LR will simply update any new arrivals in LR. Bye.

You can use the free utility psedbtool to get all of the metadata correctly written from the PSE catalog into your photos, so you won't lose any tags, dates/times, captions, map locations, or star ratings:

Lightroom 5 Trial Download

I started downloading the Lightroom 5 Trial something like half a lifetime ago. Seemed to be going OK after I disabled the pop-up blocker, but 4 hours later it was still running and showing no signs of actually getting anywhere; and then Firefox seized up on me and now I can't even get the download to start again - I just keep getting the same error page. I can get into the purchase page, or trial for some other products, but not all, and certainly not Lightroom.
What on eaarth is going on with this? Is there something else I should check with the security settings, or does the Adobe system somehow think I've already downloaded the thing and don't deserve any more, or . . . well, or what?

I DOWNLODED LIGHTROOM 4 TRIAL ONLY TO FIND IT WOULD NOT INSTALL BECAUSE ITS ONLY FOR VISTA OR LATER WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW PRIOR TO THE DOWNLOAD NOT AT THE END OF THE INSTALL OR IS THERE A LIGHTROOM 4 FOR WINDOWS XP;

It says so in the Tech Specs on the product page. There is no LR for Win XP, which even in corporate environments is now a fading memory thanks to Win 7...

Are the 3.2 Trial Download and Install DVD the same?

Trying to determine if I should install from disk after I receive a valid key from Adobe. Is there any material on disk that is not in the Trial download? If so is there a way to add that without re-installing? If not, is there a downside to re-installing?

The version on the DVD will be 3.0. It is not a good idea to install a older version of software over a more recent version. At the best you will then have to re download 3.2 to update and at the worst (and it happened often with LR 2.0 installs) installing a older version of LR over a more recent version can cause problems (see posts passim on this). Adobe issued specific advice in the case of LR 2 against using the disk.
Install the downloaded version either 3.2 or the 3.3 RC and use the serial number that comes with the disk. The disk is pretty pointless for LR, it contains no "extras" and you are much better off with the downloaded version always.

Lightroom CC was downloaded and installed but will not start. No splash screen, no nothing.

Are the trail download and purchase download the same? I downloaded the trial and added my purchase serial numbers to activate. Are there any reasons for downloading the purchase download file? Are they the same? It's difficult to put this large file on disk. Is there an ISO version available?

Functionality wise, trial and retail version are identical. however, some products may not contain all content (templates, presets, plug-in) in the trial version due to third-party licensing restrictions. Depends on what product you actualyl mean and whether or not you would need those extras...

The trial download has completed but the file extraction has been going on for 5 hours. Is this right?

No it likely indicates that the download has become corrupted. Please cancel the download and try again. I would recommend choosing your User folder to download the install files too.

Conflict between trial download and new registered copy of Elements 12

I downloaded the 30 trial of Elements12 . I have since purchased and registered Elements 12. I removed the trial software before loading my disk copy. When I open Elements 12 it takes me to the trial software. How do I remove the trial software ir still has 8 days togo and wants me to purchase?

You do not need to remove the trial. There is no difference between the trial version and what you have on the disk except for the current time remaining on the trial. You can use your serial number from the purchase to activate the trial to full use... no need to reinstall from the disk.

How to install lightroom via a download and activate via a serial number

I have purchased Lightroom 5 - I however do not have a DVD reader. I downloaded LR but when entering my serial number on the box I bought I get the message "invalid serial number - please contact customer service". Hoping that somebody can help me on this forum.

I found the reason - I downloaded the LightRoom Creative Cloud version. I have bought the LR Windows/Mac client. I finally found on other products download the LR version. Way to do it - is install the LR client trial version - go to HELP - Lightroom registration and you can enter I could enter my license key. Just created my first import - great !

I'm deeply sorry to be so noob, but on the top of that I'm french, so it's incredibly difficult for me, trying to understand something I don't even understand in french... (GPU, driver, etc.).
