Lightroom 4.1 won't recognize my supported Nikon camera and lenses under "Lens Corrections"?

Develop Module-Under Lens Corrections, Enable Profile Corrections, Lightroom 4.1 won't auto recognize my Nikon D5000 camera and lenses even though they ARE supported.  When I manually choose Nikon in this widow, I can only get 8 of the multitude of supported Nikon lenses to show in the drop down.  Of these 8 lenses, none match any of my lenses.  How do I fix this?  I would like to be able to click the check box for "Enable Profile Corrections" and have it auto recognize my camera and lens.
Here is my history:
I shoot in RAW
This is a new install of Lightroom 4.1 on a new computer with all updates installed.
I'm running Win 7 64bit
I previously used Lightroom 3 on a different computer and it worked great with Lightroom 3
I'm a REALTOR that uses Lightroom to edit my photos, not a pro.  So, please give answers that a non-pro can understand.  I am really hoping there is some simple answer to my problem.
I did search the help file first and couldn't find an answer.
Thank you in advance for the help!!

OMG... I'm such a nit-wit!!  I switched the setting in my camera to try something and forgot to swith it back!
I've been digging through this for more that an hour and never bothered to check the file setting.
Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Lightroom (4.3) won't recognize the file type while importing from Canon 5d Mark iii

Anyone mind helping me trouble shoot why my Lightroom (4.3) won't recognize the file type of my Canon 5D Mark iii ?
I have seen this in a couple other threads but none of those suggestions worked for me. I am also a Mac user.

    The above contradicts with this:

So my reading of that is that you ARE importing Raw files from the 5D3 into Lightroom, but having to use a roundabout route to do so. Is that correct? If so, how are you trying to import when you "cannot import raw files into Lightroom", are you using a card reader or direct camera attachment? Have you tried both methods? And what happens when you do try?

Lightroom 5.2 is not identifying my sigma 35 mm 1.4 for lens correction anymore. It was working fine last week. Any ideas what's happening?

Indeed the pictures I'm looking at now are Jpeg. My other canon lenses are picked up for profile correction though but the sigma 35 isn't. Thanks a lot! I thought something was wrong somewhere but it all makes sense now.

  • Lightroom 4.4 won't recognize custom camera profiles

I can't get LR4 to recognize any custom profiles.  I've loaded others' tried and proven custom profiles for Fuji X-cameras, and I've used Adobe DNG Profile Editor to create my own .dcp profile with my X-E1.  All these profiles are in the correct folder: Library>Application Support>Adobe>Camera Raw>Camera Profiles.  Yet when I open LR4 and go to the Camera Calibration panel, the only profile showing on the drop down menu is Adobe Standard. I am working with only RAW files.  I have no idea why LR4 can't see these profiles.  Do they need to go in a folder inside the Camera Profiles folder?

  • Lightroom 4.1 won't recognize Elements 10

Lightroom 4.1 does not recognize Elements 10 as an external editor. Why doesn't it work?

OK I am in the same boat. I have a Mac. The problem exists from a fresh install of Lightroom 4 and Elements 10. Tried rebuilding the plist file, though why that would work is beyond me. Have uninstalled both and reinstalled them.
Is there anyone with Lightroom 4 and Elements 10 on a Mac that actually have them integrated properly (and I dont mean by using the external editor option)

  • Log and Transfer: FCE4 won't recognize files from my camera

    Hi ...
I have a Sony XHR-NX5U and am capturing video on an optional Sony 128GB hard drive built for this camera. I've shot AVCHD video in both 1080/60i HQ and 1080/60i FX formats, and the camera produces video files in an MTS format (nestled in a series of folders), along with accompanying CPI files (I don't know what these are for).
My FCE4 program doesn't allow me to either import these files or use log/transfer. I've been forced to buy an external program to convert the MTS files into MOV files and then import these (Log and Transfer still won't recognize these MOV files).
What can I do to get FCE4 to recognize and allow the files directly from my camera?
Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.
    - matt

I see your camera can be switched to record a bunch of ways.
    Try this one:
    AVCHD FH (17Mbps) 1920x-1080/60i
It should work with Log and Transfer over USB.
Also make sure you start a New Project in FCE with the Easy Setup AVCHD-Apple Intermendaite Codec1920 x 1080i60 selected and active.
Some cameras do not seem to transfer if mixed media is on the card. Try a test with the above media ONLY on the card.

  • IPhoto won't recognize *.MOV file for playing and for importing

My iPhoto is giving me an "unreadable file format" error on *.mov files after I upgraded to iPhoto '11.   I have problem with video files that were working in iPhoto before and on files trying to import from my iphone or from my camera.   I made new library and tried to import *.mov file to the new library to check if my library is corrupted.  I get same error message.   The *.mov file plays fine with quicktime when I import files using Preview to my computer.   I just cannot import new video to iPhoto and play videos from iPhoto.
How do I make iPhoto recognize the *.mov file again and make the video file play properly?  I miss my old iPhoto

    Henji,
have you used a maintainance application lately, that has cleaned some caches? Then check, if you still have the file "com.apple.xpchelper.cache"  in the System Library in the folder "/System/Library/Caches/".
If this file is missing, that might be the reason that you cannot play or import videos any longer. Then restore it from your backup, if you have a clone of your system.  ALJ posted a link to a copy of this file in another thread: Re: Import video to Aperture library on Mountain Lion

  • Lightroom 5.7 won't recognize jpgs

I recently updated to 5.7 and updated my RAW plugin and now my lightroom will not recognize jpgs as being in a folder.  The jpgs that are there are gone from the list and then they show as "missing" from library when I try to synch the folder.  I try to locate the files and there is nothing showing via lightroom - however I am in the desktop folder and they are there.     I have renamed them and re-synched - that works, but then it loses that newly named file again and I am back at square 1.  This is making me totally crazy because I don't know why it is not recognizing that these files are in the folder.
    ?? Suggestions?

    Hi,
You really need to provide a little more information such as operating system, memory etc.
Typically a error like this is happening because a background process is executing and interfering with available RAM, not enough virtual memory (Windows), out of date HW drivers or just a incomplete install.
Or, one of the biggest problems is add-ons in internet browsers.
Or, another Lightroom problem, insufficient permissions on the directory where you are importing image files to.
Please provide a little more info.

  • Lightroom 4.4 won't recognize NEF files from my D5100

I've been using Lightroom 4 for over a year now to process NEF files straight from my memory card. For some reason, LR has stopped recognizing my NEF files. The only change was that I upgraded to 4.4 recently. Has anyone else experienced this? I did find a free adobe program that converts NEF to DNG files, but it's an extra step I don't want to have to mess around with if I don't have to.

LR 4.4 recognizes more cameras than the prior versions and doesn’t forget them.
Either you’re not using LR 4.4 like you think you are—this would be pretty obvious so I assume you are, or the files are being corrupted or otherwise changed so they’re no longer recognized.
The most common thing that causes NEFs to be unrecognized is using an older version of Nikon Transfer V1 or ViewNX which doesn’t know how to handle the header information in newer model cameras.
If you aren’t using an older version of Nikon programs with your NEFs, and instead using LR to copy the files from your camera memory card to the computer, then it is possible that LR 4.4 is using the USB functions of your computer differently than previous versions of LR and something with your USB system (cables, drivers) is iffy and that is causing corruption of the files.  It could also be a bad card that is being transferred from faster than before and this is causing issues.
The way to test for LR-copying cause the problem is to use some other method to move files from the memory card to your computer, a card reader being most common, and see if the files are recognized, then.

  • Lightroom 5.3 won't preview or import Nikon D7100 Raw Images

I'm using LIghtroom 5.3, and raw camera 8.3, the latest update available. I found from Adobe's site that this version supports D7100 raw image imports.  But when trying to import D7100 raw  images, I get a message that "the file is not recognized by the raw format support in LIghtroom."
I'm hoping someone can help with this, as obivously getting help from Adobe is not possible beyond FAQs.
    thanks,
    -Bob

    Bob,
I am using LR 5.3 with D7100 RAW files with no problems, so there should be a solution to your situation.  It might help find a solution if you tell us what computer you have, what OS, the specs, and more importantly, how you are trying to import the files.  Are you connecting the camera directly to the computer?  Are you using a card reader -- internal or external?  Are you copying the files to your hard drive and then importing into LR from there?  At one point in the past, there was a problem with Nikon Transfer somehow changing NEF files so that they wouldn't be read by LR.
As a test, try copying a few NEF files from you memory card to your hard drive using the OS file manager -- Finder or Windows Explorer -- and then try importing into LR.  Does that work?

  • ITunes won't recognize "library files" of  playlists and ratings

After a Restore and putting iTunes onto an external hard drive, I can't get iTunes to recognize the library files that have my playlists and ratings.
How do you get the library files (itl and xml) to be recognized after moving all your music and iTunes to an external hard drive?
I just did a Restore on my iPod. Just before that, I had backed up my iTunes folder to an external hard drive and bought a new laptop. After I did the Restore, I was able to iTunes to recognize that my library is now on the external hard drive (to free up space on my laptop). The Apple Genius told me I could get the existing library files to work by just moving them into my iTunes folder on the external hard drive.
But iTunes doesn't recognize that I have any playlists, etc.

I think the library database files have to be in your "My Music" folder under the folder "itunes". I have not found a way of changing this. The music library can be elsewhere, but you need to have itunes do the move to keep the library database files in sync.

  • Lightroom 2.4 - Won't display pictures in preview thumbnail and main panel

I've included a picture so you get what i mean?
I'm currently using lightroom 2.4 which i've upgraded from 2.2 (2.2 actually had this problem so i decided to bite the bullet and upgrade but it didn't help my problem). I tried creating a new catalogue, importing a new photo, syncronising the folders, optimising the catalogue and re-installing lightroom 2.4. I also restored my computer to a couple of days ago. I know it worked a couple of days ago so im not sure exactly whats happening here.
I've opened up other photo editing programs to see if i can view the photos and yes I can.
I know in lightroom when i go to print or web or slideshow it will show the picture but I just don't understand what i can do to resolve this problem. I tried searching on google and its driving me up the wall.
I hope someone knows whats going on here!

sorry Ian and kwdaves. yeah I'm using windows vista on my laptop updated to the latest Service pack (2)
I'll have a look at that faq and having said that. for some reason it was on YCC Profiles? that may have been due to me using a pdfcreator program the other day.. I feel stupid i changed it to adobeRGB (1998) as shown in solution 2 on http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402376.html
thanks a lot guys. you both helped immensely and I can actually get a good nights rest.

  • Mac won't recognize HPD110 scanner that came free with MacBook

Please help if you have had the same issue and found a resolution. I had hit & miss scanning with my old HP 5610 all-in-one via my iMac, but am not able to scan at all with the HP D110 that the Apple store GAVE me with the purchase of my MacBook. I have hooked it up via wireless (USB was not in box even though it said it was included). I can copy and print just fine, but the computer (iMac) can't find the scanner. I've tried installing the HP driver via the CD and via their website. I've tried turning the printer on and off, the computer on and off and even tried through vuescan. It will NOT find the scanner. I've also tried via Image Capture. This is so frustrating, because I have two great HP printers/scanners and I can't get either one to work with my Macs. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

For Mac, Senuti seems to be the free program of choice.

I use Music Liberator, which is not free ($25) but does a good job. You can try it in a crippled mode for free.

To get the iPod to be recognized, try putting it into Disk Mode before connecting it to the Mac.
