Lightroom 4.2 isn't passing file to Elements 11 for editing

Question

I've got LR 4.2 and PSElements 11, both showing Camera Raw 7.2. I've successfully set Elements 11 as my external editor within LR4.2.
The problem is that when I try to initiate an PSElements 11-based external Edit session to a file from within LR4.2, althought Elements 11 opens perfectly, the file I'm trying to edit is not opened within Elements 11. In fact, there's no file opened there at all. This behavior occurs regardless of filetype (CR2, JPEG, PSD, TIFF ...). I've also tried going 8-bit vs 16-bit, with no difference in outcome.
When I go back to Lightroom 4.2, I discover that the newly created file is actually sitting in the LR Library and is available for editing within LR if I wanted. But the whole point was to pass the file from LR --> Elements so I would be able to edit it from within Elements using functionality not resident in LR.
[FWIW, I've also tried deleting the "com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist" file to give Elements a chance to start over with a preferences inventory - made no difference.]
Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!  :-)
[UPDATE: I've also tried to initiate Edit from within Lightroom 4.2 using PSElements 10 instead of 11, and have the same problem - Elements opens up, but neither the file nor the LR edits are available within Elements as they are supposed to be. This further suggests that my problem must be within Lightroom.
BTW - I'm using a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.7.4]

Ok, I found the solution - in case anyone else finds this post and is experiencing a similar issue...
When setting Photoshop Elements  as your external editor from within Lightroom preferences, be sure you choose the actual "Photoshop Elements Editor" APPLICATION - not either a shortcut icon, or a welcome screen, or an abbreviated launch "app" from one of the (many) Adobe folders installed to your OSX Mac hard drive when you install Adobe products.
In short, you have to keep trying until you find the actual original Elements app file. There are a few I found on my installation - the one that was about 400+ Meg in size happened to be the right one that worked for me.
Now the integration between Lightroom exporting CR2 files to Elements and having the file open up automatically as PSD files for further editing within Elements is fairly seamless. Works for JPG, TIFF, etc.
It was frustrating for a while until this got fixed ... hope this follow-up helps someone else in the future.
