Lightroom 4.3 craches when using the brush after using redeye tool

I have purchased Lightroom couple of days ago. I was travelling therefore I didn't have the time to upgrade to 4.3.
The version shipped with the disk (4.1) was working like a dream. I have downloaded 4.3 yesterday and I couldn't be sadder. First I noticed that it cause the 'root' to use more CPU, meaning it doesn't use the CPU for Lightroom itself. Plus the the Application is generally and noticeably slower than original one.
Today, I used the redeye tool for the first time, and I just can't brush on top of it without having it crashes!! It's just impossible. I rebooted. Updated my Mac to OS 10.7.5 ...  No use. I even uninstalled and reinstalled again. I was forced to do all my editing first in cluding usinf the brush, then use the redeye tool as the final step. But any moment I engage the brush after having used the red eye tool, it crashes instantaneously

I suppose so. But the thing is that 4.2 runs just fine.
But here you go:
Processor  2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory  4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
A bit oldish but I think it's fine (is that what you meant by set up? cuz I'm not entirely sure)
I used the CD to install the first version 4.1 and just followed the instructions and that's what I do every time there's an update/upgrade.
The catalog was suggested by the instructions to be put in the pictures file, so I did. and the images are there too. The other "technical" files that are related to how the software operates are located in the main Preferences folder (where all similar folders from other software are normally located"
Thank you so much for taking the time to look at it. Do let me know if you have any other questions
Cheers

  • LR 3.5 "Stops working" when using the brush tool.

I am not able to use the brush tool when 'developing' any image without the message "Lightroom has stopped working" coming up. I have tried developing other images with the same result. As soon as I try to brush it crashes. This has only been the case since I upgraded to LR 3.5 recently. Has anyone else experienced the same?

Mmmmm, firts I would suggest removing the Prefernce file by shifting it to the desktop (with Lr closed).

When using the brush tool to paint a color, it is painting different, random colors  (Elements 11)

Click on the top right corner in the tool option bar of the brush tool and select "Reset Tool". Probably your blending mode other than 'Normal' is selected.

  • When I use the brush or eraser, a Ø symbol pops up next to my cursor and prevents me from drawing a stroke. Does anyone know a solution to this issue?

Whenever I use the brush or eraser tool, during every other stroke, I get a Ø (circle with a line through it) sign next to the brush shape/cursor and can't draw. Please help, it's extremely frustrating and disrupting my workflow! I am drawing every animation frame so you can imagine, every other stroke is quite often.
There are locked layers below my active drawing layer, which makes me wonder if Flash is just trying to tell me I can't draw on those layers, but I know that   Plus I need those layers there to guide my active layer's drawing. I've never run into this issue before with layers being locked and such. What am I missing?
    Any insight is appreciated.
    Thank you!

Hmm interesting theory...I do press undo a lot, but only because I'm trying to get a good-looking brushstroke down, usually I don't even actively lock a layer as a step during my session because they've already been locked previously and I don't need to lock/unlock them often. The thing that is frustrating is that I will try to make a stroke, and can't because the symbol pops up...then I'll make the exact same intended stroke again and then it will work fine. It's pretty haphazard but basically every other stroke or every few strokes, it'll pop up.
I think I'm beginning to almost accept this rhythm in my workflow
I'm using CS6, and I noticed that I don't have this problem when I bring the file to work on at my job (CS5) or at school (CC).
Edit: I tried to test your theory by drawing as much as I could without pressing undo...I was pleasantly surprised to not run into any issues with the paintbrush, but sure enough, as soon as I switched from the paint brush to the eraser, and tried to erase something I just drew, the eraser popped up with the "prohibited" symbol.

  • How do I use the brush tool on a video in cs6? It only stays on one frame?

How do I get what I create with the brush tool to stay on every frame in my video? I've got some footage of a car trip and I'm trying to use the brush tool to make a super 8 looking border, but it vanishes when I play the video because its only on one frame.

When Photoshop just won't work properly, try replacing the Preferences file by using this procedure:
Open Photoshop and save your custom goodies. Choose Edit→Presets→Preset Manager to save sets of styles, brushes, and other such bits and pieces you created. Use the Save Actions command in the Actions palette menu to save any sets of custom Actions.
Review your Preferences. Open Photoshop's Preferences and go through each pane, noting your preferred settings so that you can restore your work environment later.
Quit Photoshop. You can close the program like this:
On a Mac: Hold down Command+Shift+Option and restart Photoshop. When prompted, release the modifier keys and confirm, that yes, you do want to replace the Photoshop settings.
On a PC: Restart Photoshop; immediately press and hold down Ctrl+Shift+Alt. When prompted, release the modifier keys and confirm, that yes, you do want to replace the Photoshop settings.

  • How can I draw using the Brush tool and a touch screen?

I need to be able to use the touch screen on my Lenovo Yoga (running Windows 8) to draw using the Brush tool in Photoshop CS6. I'm able to do that in other programs, including Microsoft OneNote and Paint. For some reason, Photoshop will only interpret touching and dragging on the screen as an attempt to pan or scroll, even when the Brush tool is selected. I bought Photoshop - and it isn't cheap - specifically in order to draw using the touch screen, which I need to be able to do for my job. Is there some driver I can download to fix this problem, or some obscure setting I can change?
I would also like to note that Adobe's technical support line exhibits a degree of infuriating unreachability equalled only by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. When I called to ask for help with this problem, I was told the expected wait time was between 10 and 14 minutes. After waiting for 50 minutes, I gave up in disgust. Adobe's products are powerful, but what passes for customer service is an utter disgrace.

There's gotta be a way but I just use gimp for touch drawing, save it off as a png, edit in ps or ai.

  • How to turn off the brush transparency view when resizing the brush on CC?

So, when Adobe introduced the "brush preview" when using the Control+Option drag to change the brush size/hardness (not sure if it's called this way), I was ecstatic! It made my workflow much faster without having to go to the menu to change the brush size or to the bracket keys. Now on CS6 they added a feature that basically broke that for me. Now it not only shows the size/hardness, but it also shows the transparency. It  sounds like a great idea, and it is when you work with bigger opacities, but I work a lot with opacities below 10% and it basically becomes invisible, so it's hard to know if I'm using a hard/soft brush when adjusting the brush size. Is there a way to turn just the transparency preview off?
    Thanks!

OK.  Looks like it is me that is confused, but I thought it should have been Cmd plus Option, but Jullieanne Kost mentiones Control Option in this post

Which points to this old thread where we discussed the feature about 18 months ago

So other than changing the HUD setting in General Preferences, there does not appear to be a really nice solution.  Noel points out that it should be doable, and I agree that it would be nice.  It is kind of ironic that we have reached a state where even keyboard shortcuts are too clunky to use, but the mouse option is such a nice feature, it would be great to extend its functionality.

For the sake of clarity and to save people time, Todd is asking about the behaviour of the Patch tool when using it to repair the area next to the young lad's head.  Todd gets a blurred dark tone pretty much regardless of the options he uses.
IMO that's what I would expect to happen because of the close proximity of the other image elements i.e. the lad's neck and the strong lines of his shirt.  I would not choose to use the Patch tool in this situation.  Content Aware Fill makes a better stab at it.

  • Why does option+click when on the brush tool set a background color?

    Hello,
First question posted at Adobe so I hope this is in the right place.  I am using CS5 and am finding that when I option+click when using the brush tool to select a color to brush with, it sets that color as my background color.  I want it to set it to the foreground (obviously) so that I can immediately use the color I've just selected without having to swap the back to front.
I can not seem to find a setting to change this occurrence.  Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hello, this is not the help forum for Photoshop, select your platform on :
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop/
Your issue is due to the fact that you have the background color targeted on the Color panel. Click on the Foreground color, and you will be good to go!

  • Craches when updating the Outlook Calendar to iPod

iTunes craches when updating the Outlook Calendar to my iPod.
Where can I send the debug reports?

AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 6.0.4.2 ModName: unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 35f769b8
hmmmm. this is looking like a program conflict of some kind on the PC.
let's try getting a DrWatson log for this one and sending it to someone who can interpret DrWatson logs.
Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
generate the crash, collect the crash log, and send it to this email address
    in the email:
    (1) state the precise version number of itunes that you're using.
    (2) state your ipod updater version, ipod model, and version of the ipod software on the ipod:
    Identifying different iPod models
iPod: How to find software version
    (3) include the URL to this thread so that the person who gets the email has some context, but also give as much information about the context of the crashing as you can.

  • How do I use the brush to paint in latest version of Photoshop CC ?  I have a MAC with OS 10.10.2

How do I use the brush to paint in latest version of Photoshop CC ?  I have a MAC with OS 10.10.2.
I clicked the brush tool, then clicked on color swatch that brought me to the colors and clicked OL... but not able to get the color I need.

Well if I follow him, he creates an Exposure Adjustment Layer.
Then he cranks up the Exposure, lightening the entire body, which he does not want. It's only the head.
So leaving the Exposure set to where he put it, he selects that adjustment layer, clicks on that white thumbnail mask first, then paints
using the brush and black. What this does is "hides" or Masks the exposure effect where he paints, it doesn't paint the picture black.
He finds having to "mask" the entire body a lot of work. So he changes the mask to black by inverting it, and changes the swatch to white.
Then being sure the black mask thumbnail is selected, he paints the head with the white color, punching a hole in the mask so the exposure setting comes through on the face.
    Does that make sense?

  • Can anyone explain why my surface pro 3 will not accurately use the brush tool in adobe illustrator?

My surface Pro 3 is amazing with photoshop but it cuts in and out using the brush tool in illustrator.  Does anyone know of a fix?

    Hi Dinar Fresco,
We have seen some issue with n-trig win tab drivers on surface pro 3. Here is a forum post with some solution https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1649008?q=surface%20pro

  • Can't use the brush

Hi, I'm new at Photoshop and started the first lesson in Classroom in a Book with Photoshop CS5.
I'm using Windows 7 and am now trying to use the brush. I selected color (black) and brush (75 pix) but can't get any color on the demo/picture.
What is wrong in my settings?? I'doesn't work even on a new layer??

There are settings you could have wrong, such as Paintbrush Mode, Opacity, Flow...
In a case like this it may be most useful to capture your screen at the point where the brush won't paint and post it here.  Someone will likely be able to see what's wrong.
