Lightroom 4.3 doesn't recognise and import my Canon 1100D files

My copy of Lightroom 4.3 all of a sudden doesn't recognise and import my Canon 1100D camera raw files.

Could you workaround by importing the raw files then immediately export them as DNG while using Add to This Catalog from the export dialog?
Then remove the raw files from the catalog if you wish?

  • How to create the Export Data and Import Data using flat file interface

    Hi,
    Request to let me know based on the requirement below on how to export and import data using flat file interface.....
    Please provide the steps involved for the same.......
    BW/BI - Recovery Process for SNP data.
    For each SNP InfoProvider,
    create:
    1) Export Data:
    1.a)  Create an export data source, InfoPackage, comm structure, etc. necessary to create an ASCII fixed length flat file on the XI
    ctnhsappdata\iface\SCPI063\Out folder for each SNP InfoProvider.
    1.b)  All fields in each InfoProvider should be exported and included in the flat file.
    1.c)  A process chain should be created for each InfoProvider with a start event.
    1.d)  If the file exists on the target drive it should be overwritten.
    1.e)  The exported data file name should include the InfoProvider technical name.
    1.f)  Include APO Planning Version, Date of Planning Run, APO Location, Calendar Year/Month, Material and BW Plant as selection criteria.
    2) Import Data:
    2.a) Create a flat file source system InfoPackage, comm structure, etc. necessary to import ASCII fixed length flat files from the XI
    ctnhsappdata\iface\SCPI063\Out folder for each SNP InfoProvider.
    2.b)  All fields for each InfoProvider should be mapped and imported from the flat file.
    2.c)  A process chain should be created for each InfoProvider with a start event.
    2.d)  The file should be archived in the
    ctnhsappdata\iface\SCPI063\Archive directory.  Each file name should have the date appended in YYYYMMDD format.  Each file should be deleted from the \Out directory after it is archived.
    Thanks in advance.

    Here's some info on working with plists:
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/PropertyLists/Introduc tion/chapter1_section1.html
    They can be edited with any text editor. Xcode provides a graphical editor for them - make sure to use the .plist extension so Xcode will recognize it.

  • Problem with index markers and importing MS Word 2007 files

    This was ugly in that it wasn't caught until after a book had been typeset and the index was being finalized. I'm now having to go back and manually insert a zillion index markers. Not fun.
    This was my first project since migrating from FM 7.1 to FM9.0.3.
    Source documents are Microsoft Word 2007. Am working in Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit.
    When the Word files were imported into FrameMaker, only SOME of the index markers were imported. The difference between those that were imported and those that weren't was seemingly random.
    I did some testing and found the problem and a solution.
    Looking at the source Word .docx file, and displaying hidden text shows two types of index markers:
    1. { XE "word to be indexed"}
    2. {xe "word to be indexed"}
    Note the difference in case and the extra space after the opening brace in #1. Markers of type 1 were imported fine. Markers of type 2 were stripped by the import process.
    The solution:
    Backsave the Word file to Word 2003 format (.doc) before importing into FrameMaker.
    I backsaved to Word 2003 and imported using both the "Microsoft Word" and "Microsoft Word 2007" filters and both filters imported correctly. It's only when trying to import a Word 2007 .docx file directly that things run amok.
    Grr...

    Thank you for posting your solution, Dan. It's cold comfort, but I've also ran into this issue in the past, almost certainly well before Word2003 though, probably as far back as Word2000 or earlier.
    In your testing, did you try saving as RTF to see if the markers were homogenized, by any chance? In my simple testing just now, Word itself recognized the index field correctly no matter whether I changed the field to "xe" or "XE", but FM's import of the .docx file format wouldn't recognize "xe", only "XE". But importing an RTF file handled both upper- and lower-case entries.
    Ah, yes, that's it -- saving the Word2007 file as RTF (with 2 fields, one caps, one lower-case) changed cap field to lower-case when the RTF is opened in Word again, so saving as RTF does homogenize the fields to lower-case. Is it possible that your file(s) were changed to or saved as RTF at any point in their life-cycle? I believe some older versions of Word were actually RTF under the hood, too -- if you do Save As in Word2007 you can scroll through the File Type entries and see "Word 97-2002 & 6.0/95 - RTF (*.doc)"  I believe some doc management systems change binaries to RTF too, or conversely some apps create RTF but they name the files as doc.
    So Word itself recognizes either lower- or upper-case, and FM's RTF import handles both, but not the .docx import.

  • Lightroom new download doesn't recognise my special printer profile

    I loved every second on the beta version of LIGHTROOM and happily used a special printer profile for Canon Pixma MP950.
    Now,I downloaded the new Lightroom and it doesn't recognize or accept my profile. Instead it uses a generic BJ Color Printer Profile 2000 or the profile for Canon MP 950(which I didn't like).
    The difference seems to be that previously I was able to select "colorsync" under "colorsync" during setup. Now the only option is "standard". If I choose "none" under "Color Correction" , the program chooses "BJ Color Printer Profile 2000". If I choose "Colorsync" the program gives me the "Canon MP950 PR!" profile.
    Could you ,please. advice me how to proceed. I was so satisfied with the beta and so disappointed with the new download.

    Okay, I have successfully printed a test page frm the printer itself. It did work correctly with my PC and connected to the PC network that I had previously set up, so I'm pretty sure that ther printer itself is good in terms of being able to print and also it's network capabilities. I also double checked the network password that I entered when I connected the printer to the time capsule network and it said that it did set up a connection point correctly. After I did this I tried to print something from the mac again and it simply isn't bringing up the printer details as already there, or when I try to add a new printer.
    So now I'm at a brick wall and have no idea how to get through / over / round it. Please help anyone.

  • Lightroom 6 CC doesn't launch and I've shut down CC, even reinstalled it.  I still have Lightroom 5 CC loaded.  Do I need to uninstall it?  If I do, how do I keep all of the preferences for Lightroom 6 CC?

    This is happening on both my desktop and my laptop.  Not sure what I need to do.  Like I said I have actually uninstalled CC.  It says Lightroom CC 2015 is installed but it won't open.  I see the splash screen briefly.  Lightroom 5 still works though.

    I have exactly the same problem on my MacBook but not my Mac Pro. I have followed the recommended fix of logging out and in with Creative Cloud but the problem persists. Come on Adobe what is going on.

  • Aperture doesn't show video imported from Canon 5D Mk 3

    When I'm importing video to Aperture 3 from Canon 5D Mk 3, the files show up in Aperture with black screen. Sound is OK and the duration is unchanged but there's no image. In Finder, Quicktime and for example After Effects the video shows up normally so I can convert it to other formats, but that way it's more complicated than it should be.
    Also, when using Compressor to convert the files the end result is the same. Haven't tried to import the videos to Final Cut Pro X yet... Has this happened to anyone else and what can I do to fix this? I tried to import a file to my girlfriend's Aperture 3 and it worked normally there.

    Thanks, but can you elaborate as I'm new to both video and FCE. What are the item property of the clips versus in the sequence, can you advise me what settings to use, how can I find these properties? any info will help
    Cheers

  • Aperture wants 825 MB more diskspace, but my HD has 630 GB free space. A perture doesn't let me import my latest raw files. What's the problem?

    Hi, I have Aperture 3.2.2 installed on a iMac with OS 10.6.8
    While I plug in my Nikon to import my raw files from today, Aperture tells that I need 825 MB more space on the disk.
    But actually I have more than 600 GB free space on my HD. So what is the problem? What should I do?
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
    Andreas

    Not sure.
    Try these, though:
    . Empty Aperture Trash
    . Close Aperture
    . Empty system trash
    . Reboot
    . Try the import again.
    What does Finder tell you about the free space on the drive volume in question after you've emptied the system trash?
    Are all of your Image's Masters managed?
    Are you sure you have Aperture set to import to the drive you want?

  • Copy original TIFF to DNG and import?

    Does Lightroom support the option "Copy as dng and import" when the source files are tiff?
    The reason is that I would like to be able to copy my original tiff files as dng and then import into Lightroom. The tiffs are 16 bit tiffs generated from Nikon Capture.
    The menu system allows me to choose this option, but all the files get copied as tiffs and imported as tiffs even though I have chosen the "copy as dng" option.
    This is a major setback as the tiffs are about 60MB each, whereas the dngs Lightroom generates from a Nikon NEF raw image are under 10MB each.
    I can't seem to figure out a way to convert all tiffs to dng on import into Lightroom.
    Thanks.

    Caine-
    You're definitely deriving good insight from all of this!
    As far as your color and tone, others have seen similar things with Canon's DPP software. The answer to these discrepancies has been that Canon and Nikon understand their RAW files better than Adobe can understand them because they don't share their "secrets" with Adobe. But, what we can do is take one of a few approaches in LR: one is to find some presets that other users have developed for your camera and import them into LR, see what works, and apply them. Another is to develop presets yourself: you can save a Develop Preset, set a preset at import, or set a "Default Preset" for your camera. There is also a method that gets used a lot to calibrate your camera in Camera Raw using a GretagMacBeth color card, then open the image in Photoshop and running a script that analyzes the captured colors and puts out a calibration preset for your camera.
    As far as high ISO settings, others have complained about LR's noise reduction for higher ISO's, so you're not alone. I noticed something interesting, though, in the past couple of days. I was testing my daughter's Canon Rebel, which she has capturing RAW+JPEG, as I was setting up LR on her computer. I decided to check out her high ISO quality (it goes up to 1600) and found that Canon's in-camera noise reduction, which it applies to the jpegs, was quite good. At first glimpse it seems better than what I could do in LR.
    I guess, Caine, that if I was in your position, I would import all of my RAW into LR, and just use the Nikon tiff approach for the images I needed to edit for use. I know what you mean about huge files. Fortunately, hard drives are cheap compared to earlier days, but still...so, I would approach my workflow like import into LR, do whatever I could with LR, but for output go to Nikon first to create a tiff before, say, editing in Photoshop or whatever.

    SudhirThe use of export and import for your un-named version of Oracle are well documented in the Utilities Manual, located at tahiti.oracle.com
    How to script it is dependent on your un-named operating system.
    "not able to import successfully" conveys no useful information. What have you tried? What were the results. Actual commands and actual error messages are most useful. Copy and paste are your friends.

  • Importing problems with MP4 files.

    A friend of mine wanted me to make a DVD  with some media files that they sent me (all with .mp4 extentions). I've just purchased CS6 Premuin Pro so I thought I'd try ENCORE to do it with (previously I've been using DVDStyler). However I had problems with importing the mp4 files they sent. Some of the files import OK, but with others I get this error:
    Couldn't import file FILENAME, Quicktime and/or the appropriate codec do not appear to be installed.
    Now I did have Quicktime Alternative, along with the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack installed. Did a bit of searching and found advice to remove the K-Lite pack and Quicktime Alternative, and update with Quicktime and another set of Codecs (I've installed the Windows 7 codec pack v4.06, as I'm using Win7). However, I'm still getting the same error message when I try and import some of the files. I don't know their origin or what created them as such. However, I did download a copy of MediaInfo and got the following for each type of file.

    Just what is the problem here? Why will the first type of file import OK, but the second not, and what can be done about that (do I need to load an extra codec, and if so what)?  The odd thing is that using a program like DVDStyler, I can load those files and actually build a DVD. And yes, I know that's an entirely different program, but it just seems odd to me that an open-source program seems to do something Encore can't (and I'd much rather use Encore to build DVDs). No doubt this is something obvious but I'm a novice with Encore and Premiere, so I'm missing it anyway.

    Codec packs, even the "better" ones, do not typically provide codecs that Premiere and Encore can use.
    The "problem" file is a flash format (whether it is an mp4 container or not).
    "Consumer" type DVD authoring/burning applications, and even more so, all in one apps like windows movie maker etc, may be more "powerful" when you are trying to take a large range of formats and create a DVD with relatively few options. This is not Encore's strength.
    Encore will reject almost anything that has flaws it isn't able to handle, but more importantly (once you get to this step), it will treat as noncompliant (and  re-transcode) anything that is not DVD compliant.
    My guess is that you need to get  the flash into something that will work better for transcoding to DVD compliant.
    I would first try to bring one of the problem files into Adobe Media Encore, and see if you can export an MPEG2-DVD file.
    Not that, while there are some less known DVD resolutions, I assume you are going to end up with 720x576 PAL. I wonder what the quality will look like....
    If you are just looking to get the files onto a DVD to play on a DVD player, just stick with DVDStyler.

  • Importing for Canon Rebel XT RAW images fails

    I have a rather odd problem. Both iPhoto and Aperture choke on RAW images I try to import from my Rebel Canon XT. It worked fine until a week or so ago when it suddenly broke.
    It is NOT the camera as iPhoto on my Powerbook can still import those images just fine.
    In iPhoto on the Powermac the import feature simply hangs.
    In Aperture it does import the files but then spews out an error message telling me that it can't do anything with the "unsupported file format".
    The files themselves are fine, when I import them first into iPhoto on the Powerbook, then export the RAW images and import them from the file system it works.
    Anybody encountered this? What strikes me as odd is that both Aperture AND iPhoto have this problem, so does Lightroom Beta btw.

    Michael:
    Did you run any updates shortly before this started happening? What system version are you at?
    Do you Twango?

  • Parent  changes between save and load of a PDF file

    I am using LiveCycle 8.2 and Acrobat 9.2 - and Reader 9.2
    I have an automated process that uses a plug-in to fill out and save a PDF form using XML data.
    This works well - saves time , etc.
    I have a problem where a certain data element seems to have a different heirarchical relationship in the Reader  than in Acrobat..
    I have added some xfa.host.MessageBox() statements to print out data as the form is being saved  and then when it is loaded into the Reader - these  values are not the same -
    but i have checked and when I laod it using Acroabt everyhting is the same as when the data was saved - but there a different relationship apparently exists when I load the form using the reader.
    Has anyone seen this before ?
    Is there anything that I can do about it ?
    Any help is appreciated - thanks

    a snippet of the code involved is listed here :
    Provider.page2.Practice.Associatec.AssociateType.AssociateTypeDescription::initialize - (JavaScript, client)
     var CovgYN;
    var msg; var lineofdata;
    var assttype = this.rawValue;msg
    = "Check1 : " + assttype + " = " + this.parent.parent.AssociateLastName.rawValue;xfa.host.messageBox(msg);
    lineofdata= this.parent.parent.AssociateFirstName.rawValue + " " + this.parent.parent.AssociateLastName.rawValue + " " + assttype + " -" + CovgYN;

    I have Lightroom 4 and a new 70D camera and when I try to important my photos Lightroom says it doesn't recognize my CR2 files.  Can someone help?  I have downloaded 8.3 from Adobe, but still doesn't work?

    Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. All of the Camera Raw technology is part of the Lightroom program. You will either have to upgrade to Lightroom 5 or use the DNG converter to create digital negative copies that can be used with Lightroom 4.
