Lightroom 4.3 doesn't see Canon 6D RAW files?

System: OSX 10.6.8, mac pro, 8 core, 8 GB ram, multiple 1 TB drives, 6 monitors.
So I found the ad on Adobe that said that the 6D was supported in Lightroom 4.3, and the Lightroom page said that it would work on OSX 10.6.8. So I bought it.
Upon installing it, I find that it cannot see (does not show) 6D RAW files when IMPORT is pressed. It shows JPEGS if I have them in the camera, and it knows the camera is there in the import dialog -- shows its name -- but no RAW files.
I checked for updates to Lightroom 4.3, it says there are none, I'm "up to date."
DPP sees the RAW files fine and imports them. So the USB connection, etc., is working.
Can anyone help? I'm sure I'm missing something, and I really need RAW files, not JPEGs.
Thanks.

I don't have a card reader; I live in a very static prone rural area, very dry, and I'm no fan of ESD, so once I put the card in, it stays in, as a matter of preferred practice. It makes it kind of painful to buy a card reader and have it shipped here just for a risky test, since I'd never be comfortable using it anyway.
I guess I'd have to ask, is LR 4.3 known to have USB problems?
I do, however, have a USB cable. And DPP (Canon's software) sees the files perfectly through it, can download them and process them, and also, Lightroom sees the 6D when it has JPEGs in it... so I think the connection is fine.
I'm kinda thinking LR is busted, though.

  • Lightroom 5.6 don't see Canon 7d raw files

    I use a Canon 7D.
    I've got Lightroom 5.6.
When I try to import files from the 7D to LR, I can see only movies and JPG files but not the raw file (CR2).
    What can I do?
    Thanks

Bonjour. C'est assez étrange vu que le 7D est assez ancien, et qu'il est pris en compte depuis la version 5.6… de Camera Raw (soit la version 2 de Lightroom).
    Voilà ce qui s'écrivait en 2009 :

While ACR 5.6 won't work with CS3, you should be able to use the new DNG Converter to convert the CR2 files from the Canon 7D to DNG files that can be opened with the latest ACR for CS3.

  • Adobe Lightroom 5.7 does not recognize Canon 60D raw files. I have Camera Raw plugin 8.7 installed. Is there solution?

Neither Bridge CS6 or Lightroom 5.7 can recognize Canon's raw file (Canon Camera 60D).
This only started a few months ago without any change that I made to the system
    Any clues?

Is this only when reading CR2 files on the camera memory card or also for CR2 files that were previously imported to your hard drive (i.e. ALL of your 60D CR2 files)?
LR 5.7.1 is only at Camera Raw 8.7. so OK. What Bridge, PS, and OS versions are installed? In Bridge go to Help> About Bridge
From inside Bridge launch any raw file and check the ACR version:

  • Lightroom 4.4 doesn´t recognize Nikon D7100 Raw files

I installed the new 4.4. update on my OS X. I thought it should have fixed the problem with the raw files of my new D7100. But it doesn´t seem to work. Lightroom still can´t import the raw files (NEF) from D7100. "The files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom".
    What should I do??

Did you use Nikon software to transfer the photos to your computer's hard disk? this has been known to interfere with Lightroom import.
If you still have the photos on the camera card(s), try importing those.

  • Lightroom 5 is auto-developing our canon 7d raw files but not the canon 5d mark 3 files upon import.

Lightroom 5 is auto-developing raw files upon import on the canon 7d but not on the canon 5d mark3. I would prefer to do individual file developing in the develop module.

Go into preferences, select the Presets tab. Hit "Reset all Default Develop Settings". You probably by accident set a default Develop for the 7D. Also check that you don't have a preset selected in the import dialog.

  • Does Elements 12 support Canon 70D RAW files?

Elements 11 doesn't support Canon 70D RAW files. Is it possible to ugrade, or do I have to purchase Elements 12?

Sorry but I do not understand what XP or Vista has to do with my question. Stated another way, my question is, does the version of ACR that comes with the version of PSE 12 that is available for purchase at this moment definitely support Canon 70D RAW files?
FWIW, I am running Win 7 Pro 64 bit so PSE 12 will run on my system.
    Thanks.

  • Lightroom 5.5 Canon 5DIII raw files misinterpreted

When I import Canon 5DIII raw files into Lightroom 5.5 some of the file end up with rectangular areas of garbage, often diagonal lines.
The problem is generally remedied by importing the file again.
I use Downloader Pro to get cards from the CF card and then import into Lightroom.
I have tried different memory cards but doubt this is the problem because reimporting same file generally solves the problem.

My guess is that the files are corrupted—part of the raw data is missing.  The slight curvature of the border is due to a lens profile being applied.
If the situation can be fixed by redownloading the file, then something must be happening in the transfer.
If this cannot always fix the situation then perhaps the card is bad and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.  If downloading the file multiple times always results in exactly the same corruption then I’d guess the image is on the card that way.  You can try using another way to download like Explorer or Finder, and see if the same situation happens.
If you want to upload one of the files that LR says is corrupted, others can test it to see if it is also bad on their systems.  Sometimes a computer’s memory is bad on the image will only look bad in LR, but usually this manifests as things streaks and spots, not a block in the corner.

  • Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my Canon Mark III 5D Camera.

Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my new Canon Mark III 5D Camera.  How can I get my files open to view and edit?  I am using LR3, Photoshop CS3 and Bridge CS3.  Do I need to upgrade these programs or is there another way to get these programs to recognize my files?
When I try opening the raw images in Lightroom, the thumbnails say "Preview unavailable for this file"  ... when I click "import" an error message pops up that says "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."
When I try opening the raw images in Photoshop, an error message pops up saying "could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
When I try opening the raw images in Bridge, it just shows an icon with the file name and CR2.
    Please help!!!

Unless I missed an announcement, today, LR6 isn't available, yet, right?  Only Adobe employees and beta testers would know what LR6 does differently at this point and they're all sworn to secrecy.
LR5 is available as a standalone version.
    PS-CS6 is available as a serial-number-licensed version.
PS-CC + LR5 are also available as a Photography Plan subscription for $10/month with a minimum OS versions of OSX 10.7 (and probably 10.8, soon) and Windows 7.
Bridge is part of PS, not a separate program.
LR5 standalone and LR+PS-CC plan are both available on this page:  http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software.html
PS-CS6 can be found on this page:  Creative Suite 6 which can be found by searching www.adobe.com for Photoshop CS6 and clicking the Buy link in the on-the-fly search results.
As with any new Adobe software, it might be wise to run it in trial mode for a few days/weeks to see if it works well with your computer, before purchasing and finding out you might need a new computer, first.

Hi,  I've just purchased and installed an upgrade from Lightroom 4 to 5.  It doesn't seem to handle raw files authored with a new Nikon D750 camera.  I spoke to the sales rep about this and he gave me a link to the 8.6 DNG converter page with instructions to download.  8.6 only works with Mac OS 10.7-10.9, according to the page.  I'm running Yosemite, Mac 10.10.  Please can you tell me my options?  Lightroom 4 worked beautifully with my older cameras' raw files so I would like to continue using the application.  What should I do?  How soon will Lightroom 5 be able to deal with raw files from a D750.  Many thanks, Adam.

Until the next version of Lightroom is released, you need to use the DNG Converter version 8.7RC to convert your RAW photos to DNG and then import the DNGs into Lightroom.

  • How to open canon 70D RAW files in Lightroom 4?

I have udated LR 4 to LR 4.4. It is supposed to open the newer Canon camera RAW files like the 70D. After updating with the download from Adobe LR ver. 4 will still not open the 70D RAW files. Does anyone have any suggestion? I must be doing something incorrect or am missing a step to the update. Thanks!

Not so, 70D support was added in Lightroom 5.2 ... Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
You have a choice to upgrade to Lightroom 5.6 or use the DNG convertor to convert the CR2 files to DNG and import.

  • Canon 70D RAW files to Lightroom 3

What do you need to do to work with Canon 70D RAW files in Lightroom 3 ?

Either upgrade to Lightroom 5, or use the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2s to DNG which LR3 will then read.

  • When will Lightroom be updated to accommodate Canon 6d RAW files?

When will Lightroom be updated to accommodate Canon 6d RAW files?

Its not supported in the Latest version of Lightroom 4.3 Release Candidate or ACR 7.3 RC which expires at the end of Jan 2013 I believe.
Since the 6D is a high end and likely a popular camera model it is my expectiation that it will be supported when the final release of LR 4.3 / ACR7.3 is issued.
I do not know just my opinion.

  • Seeing Canon G9 raw images

Now that Aperture recognizes Canon G9 raw files, how can I make this happen for G9 raw files already imported into Aperture? I previously imported raw and jpg images from the G9. The 10.5.2 update still does not recognize G9 raw files.
    Many thanks.
    Richard Clompus

Based on earlier parts of this thread I ran out this morning to get the Aperture 2.0 upgrade. After installing it and the two online updates one of which was the graphic upgrade I now find that it doesn't even acknowledge there are any Canon G9 CR2 files. At least before the upgrade 1.5 would import the file and give a distorted preview.
I can use the DNG conversion route for 2.0 and for Iphoto. It seems a real shame to have to go through this extra step.
It looks like for each step forward it ends up being two steps backward. It looks like it was something with the online upgrade, probably the graphics one.
    Help!

  • Is there a download for lightroom2.7 that will allow it to use camera raw for a Canon T3i raw files?

Is there a download for lightroom2.7 that will allow it to use camera raw for a Canon T3i raw files?

    Greylensmanta wrote:
Thank you for the imput.  I don't know what you mean when you say LR doesn't use Adoble Camera Raw.  My LR2.7 is able to process raw files from my 20D.  I don't care if it does it with ACR or some other processing software.  The issue is whether whatever software is used by LR can be updated to deal with new camera raw files.  It is pretty annoying if it cannot be.  I would even pay a reasonable amount if that were necessary.
ACR is a plug-in for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements which enables users to work on raw images from supported cameras. All of that technology that is in that plug-in is part of the Lightroom program, the plug-in is not used by Lightroom. ACR must be updated approximately 4 times each year in order to add support for new cameras and to make other changes in the plug-in. In order to get those changes in Lightroom, it is necessary to upgrade the entire Lightroom program. Interim releases are made available to Lightroom users who have purchased the program. For instance, if you purchased Lightroom 2, then versions 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, etc. are all available to you at no cost. But when Lightroom 3.0 is released or 4.0 is released, then it is necessary for you to purchase an upgrade in order to continue to get the updates.

  • Why doesn't Aperture 3 recognise RAW files from my Fuji F550EXR?

I have just bought a Fujifilm F550EXR, partly because of it's RAW capabilities. I am an existing Aperture 3 user (Canon 5D Mk II) and have found it very good at working with the RAW files from that SLR. After shooting some test shots with the F550EXR, I now find that Aperture 3 doesn't recognise them. Surely Fuji's RAW file format has been around long enough for Apple to incorporate it into it's RAW converter. Why doesn't Apple support Fuji RAW files?

    Hi all,
    the problem still exists..
Aperture still does not support this RAF (I recently bought a Fujifilm F550EXR)
    Others do..
I've just tested Adobe Lightroom, works great
with both, Fuji-RAF and NEF format (of my Nikon D80)
even free picture software does support this Fuji-RAW format
    - e.g. "rawker", http://raifra.fh-friedberg.de/Mac/index-en.html
so its hard for me to understand, that the missing cooperation between Fujifilm and Apple is the problem.
I think, Apple regards it as too much effort to implement this format for (in relation) so few cameras..
Aperture 2 had no backup function for some month, and Apple did not care ..
    (too much effort, too?)
