Lightroom 4.3 moving slow in Develop module

After i updated from LR4 to LR4.3 ,,, i have been using LR 4.3 for a couple hrs now only to find out i am having same issues as before:
1) when i select an image in the film strips, it shows it in Navigation panel but takes forever to change in my develop/ working photo window
2) If i do Edits like brush strokes,, same issue LR takes forever to update my Edits.
SPECS- Mac OS X, 2.5 Ghz i5, 4GB, 1333MHz ddr3
( the catalogues i work from are on a Western Digital 500GB external HD plug in to my Mac)
Nikon camera raw files
Any helpful advice please?? This thing is consuming far too much of my time>>>>headaches>>>

Why is Lightroom 5.7.1 so slow in develop module?

Lightroom CC slows right down and becomes unbearably slow when in develop module and working with brushes, or zooming/panning.
My computer is not the problem...running 32GB RAM and dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M graphics cards...

Lots of adjustment brushes and lots of spot removal can bog things down. Your best bet is to move those takes to the end of your develop cycle.

Lightroom closes after I open the development module

For several weeks, I have been facing a new incident.
As I am opening the development module, Lightroom closes after a couple of seconds.
This does happen on all versions but 1.0.

Thank you both very much for the advice.
I downloaded Speedfan and discovered that the graphics card is indeed under some stress at the time of the crashes.
I've also found out that if I close all running programs, it causes less heat so doesn't crash and close.
When I come to upgrading this pc, I'll definitely be making sure a better cooling system is on the list lol.

LightRoom 2.3 Hangs Randomly in Develope Module

I'm running Windows XP with patching up to date. At random intervals in the Develop module when I click on something, nothing happens. The next time I click on something I get an hour glass that never goes away. Hard disk activity starts and then subsides after a few minutes, but the window cannot be closed without rebooting. System will not shutdown as LightRoom is not killable at that point. I usually have to reboot the system at that point using the power button to turn it off and then let it start up again. The file system is left in a clean state as the first few dozen times I performed a chkdsk after it and didn't get any errors.
Has occurred with JPG files from my 20D and 50D Canon cameras.

Just reinstalled lightroom 5 from CC and the develop module is blocked and says I need to renew membership although I have an up to date photographers CC membership with photoshop CC and lightroom 5 - is there a simple way to reactivate the develop module

Does anyone know how to reactivate the develop module in Lightroom 5- I've just reinstalled it, restarted computer, signed in but keep getting the message - Develop module is disabled - Renew membership - although my CC membership is all up to date. I can import to the library etc just seems to be the Develop module- thanks for any help, T

Lightroom 5: Basic panel missing in Develop module

I have installed lightroom 5 (upgrade from lightroom 3) on my MacBookPro. Everything seems to work perfectly, except that "Basic" in the Development model does no longer appear in Lightroom 5. I believe that "Basic" was there in the first place. Can anyone help me to get it back. I have reinstalled the upgrade version of Lightroom 5, but this does not help.

Inactivation develop module lightroom5

Having purchased and downloaded Adobe Lightroom5(Mac) which was working very well, I registered on creative cloud to find out more about it. I then found the Develop module of Lightroom was disabled with a message
PLease renew your membership to reactivate the Develop module.
I do not want to pay a subscription when I have bought the lightroom5 program independantly.
How do I now get the develop module reactivated .??

'Develop module disabled' and No 'SLS cache or SLS store' folders anywhere. Also no registration document

It has been working fine but it suddenly says that develop module has been disabled. I have looked for solutions on the internet and could not find the SLS cache or SLS store folders where they were supposed to be. It asks for the licence number every time I log in so it might be to do with that. I have uninstalled and re-installed but this made no difference. I don't understand what the problem is and not having the files I mentioned means that I can't find a solution. I also had a look at where the registration document should be and there isn't one. I think files are missing that shouldn't be but have no idea how to change that. I'm working on Windows 8 PC.

Your statements contradict one-another. Did you subscribe with an annual program or did you buy a boxed/downloaded product?

Hello, my develop module has been disabled at the end of the trial period but I have purchased Creative Cloud 2 days ago. Anyone have any assistance on this issue?

How do I reactivate my develop module? I already have Creative Cloud but it keeps telling me to renew my membership.

LR 3.2 - Pb with the reset settings in the develop module / library module

i have a big issue with LR 3.2. In the library modul, my thumbnails didn't have anymore the small icon saying that the picture has been editing in the develop modul. When i am moving into the develop modul, the history is still here but the picture appears in the defaults setting like she has never been edited.
It is said : "reset settings"
How can i do for my pictures to became like they were ? I can't go back one picture by one picture. Did I changed something, I really don't understand and need your help.

In the Library click View >View Options
Under the Grid View tab select Thumbnail Badges
You should then see your icons.
To Re-Set a batch of photos select the first one and reset it.
Hold down the shift key and select the last one (so that all are selected)
Then click Sync.

Lightroom 4.1 RC develop module slow browsing

I am running Lightroom 4.1 RC on a 2010 iMac 27" with 2.93 core i7, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB Crucial M4 SSD drive (where the Lightroom catalog resides). When I scroll through images in Library, I can move through images very fast, however, when I try to do the same in the Develop module, it becomes really, really sluggish. Probably about 5 seconds between images. I have 1:1 previews generated. Is there a workaround for this?

I totally agree with you. I'm running Lr 4.1 RC2 on Win7Ent64 with i7-2700k, 16GB RAM and catalog and previews on a SSD drive ant all the Develop module is relly really slow and sluggish. I have 1:1 previews generated. Very very bad performances!!! Adobe wakes up!

Lightroom 4.1 Develop Module Preview Problems

I have been using LR4 and now 4.1 since beta and subsequently the first release and now 4.1RC. I too have been irritated by the lack of responsivness compared to LR3.6 but in 4.1 it does seem to have improved. BUT the problem I am seeing is that the preview image in develop module chnages to a lower res and muddier looking version as I drag most of the various adjustment sliders, once the slider is realeased the image refreshed to a better resolution version. This happens in all panels from Basic to Detail and even Effects. It is almost as if Adobe are increasing the apparent speed by applying the adjustment to a low res embedded file first and then to the full RAW data in the background. On detailed images it is more irritating that the slow develop module in LR4.0 as it makes adjustments impossible to preview until the slider has been deslected. The same occurs if you select the slider setting digits and advance using the cursors. Very frustrating indeed. I will be going back to LR4.0 and fingers crossed that this is resolved when LR4.1 is reeased in full.
My PC is fairly good, Win 7 64bit with Quad Intel 9550 cpu (2.83Ghz) with 8Gb ram, GTX-260. I have the same problem at work with a dual cpu (8 cores total) Zeon 5365 (3.0Ghz) and 12Gb Ram & Quadro FX4600. The problem does not seem to manifest in the second display preview but this is laggy and obviously not any use for setting local adjustments.
Anyone else had a similar issue to this? I cant find any reference to it on the web or these forums.

I have exactly same symptoms as Dave Mayfield.
Except I moved images to sub-folders and renamed them, from within Lightroom.
After it locked up, it did not show sub-folders in Library and all the images have question marks on them. If I show it where the file is in Explorer, it does not show any changes.
I Imported one folder and it could see the images in the folder.
Some were without any changes.
Some were the final edited configuration, but not change history shows in Develop. It is if it kept an Exported fersion.
