Lightroom 4.3 not importing all photos

Using Mac, 10.7.5
Have used lightroom version 3 (now 3.6) with Canon 7d and Canon 5dmk11 with no issues.
Connect cameras to computer via usb, in lightroom 3.6 both cameras immediately recognised by lightroom import preview pics shown, no issues.
Ugraded to lightroom 4 (now 4.3) have no issues importing photos from Canon 5dmkii, however seems to be hit and miss with the 7d. Lightroom does not automatically see the 7d, I have to use import and then select the 7d.  On importing the photos sometimes it is fine other times I have a number of photos with a ? and message missing file cannot be located.  Close down lightroom 4, open lightroom 3.6 connect the 7d and all the photos are imported including the ones that had a ? in LR4.
In the end I stopped using LR 4 went back to LR3, but have recently bought Fuji XE1, raw files not supported in v 3 so back to using LR4, and am getting the same issue. Have deleted and re-installed lightrrom 4 , still some import issues, tried Adode remote chat line, (waste of time, the rep had less idea on LR than I do)
Please has anybody got any ideas, as to cause or a solution, as this is driving me up the wall,
Many thanks Neil

Rikk,
Thanks for the reply,
yes I have tried with a card reader and have had some mixed results, but always when I go back to lightroom 3 all the photos are seen and imported.
I reinstalled LR4 yesterday, upgraded to v4.3.
I have set up a new catalogue with none of my historic photo's, I will archive those in LR 3.6.
Have re-installed the latest firmware for the canon 7d,
Took some test photo's connected camera via usb, had to manually select import, the 7d was listed, then imported pics, no problem this time, need to see if this is consistent. Did the same with the Fuji xe1 and all 12 pics loaded.
Will try tomorrow with significantly more pictures from both cameras.
I wonder if there is any issue associated with importing the old catalogue from 3.6 and upgrading in LR4?
Enjoy New year,
Neil

  • Lightroom 4.1 not importing all photos from canon 7d

Upgrades to Lightroom 4.1 last weekend.
Imported first photographs directly from Canon 7d (2.03 firmware)  copy as dng files through normal import process, and lightroom 4.1 fails to recognise approx 20-30% of the photos. (question mark in corner file location missing)
This has happened three times, Thought it might be a card format problem, but then opened lightroom 3.6 which is still installed on my computer, conected the camera and all files imported directly from camera into lightroom just as they alwways have.
    So whats the glitch?

  • Aperture 3.2.1 not importing all photos from card reader

Aperture is not importing all photos from the card reader, i tried importing 720 photos and it was only seeing 480 photos, the card reader stopped reading, aperture was saying "loading assets", still,  like if it was still reading the card. and the first time it loaded the pictures the import button was not availllable once not all the photos were not all loaded when the loading assets message stopped.
i  had to force quit aperture, ejecting the card from the reader, aperture, on relaunch was still seeing the card as present but it was ejected from the finder , and  physicaly on the desk.
i had to go in Apple Acticity monitor to find a process that was still active , someting called mass media and had to stop it.
my work around was manually copying the content of the card on the external hard drive about  9 gig of photos on the external HDD where i keep my aperture photos.  copying 9 gig of photos over usb2 took an 50 minutes.
i had jpegs raw and some videos in 720p
    i have a MBP 2.26 ghz 13"
a Canon 7D and a Lexar 16 gig compact flash card.

I'm sorry, but I can't understand this paragraph. It seems like the "loading assets" message stopped but not all the photos were showing up in the import window. Were any of the photos duplicates? How long did you wait until you forced quit?
When you say "the first time it loadedthe pictures" you mean you attempted before and got the same result?
It does seem like it is either getting stuck on an image or is taking a long time to read the images off the card since the import button is not available...
When you copied the files to your external drive, you were then able to import to Aperture?
    Thanks

  • Lightroom not importing all photos from the SD card

I have been using light room for a month now, importing photos from my Nikon's SD Card. All was going well until today. At first it seemed like lightroom could only see the first 144 photos (up to DSC_0217) as that was all that showed in the lightroom Library for last import. But when I looked in the Hard Drive and today's folder I could see all the photos (an additional 70 or so) had been imported to the hard disk. I tried moving the missing ones to a new hard disk folder - then an import from that folder, but light room thinks they are already imported.
Any ideas where they may be? I attach a screen shot - but doubt it will help?!?

LOL - 353 photos, thats the 140 or so from today and all my others. Then I see that the sort order is date stamp, and my missing photos are out of sequence. If I sort by filename then I get what I expected to see ... my new photos at the bottom! Looks like something happened in the EXIF data as the time stamp should be sequential with the the filename! No worries, thanks for making me see the big picture

  • Lr not importing all photos from external HD, but can see them in Bridge

Just signed up to Lr & Ps on CC.  I imported my photos into Lr from an external HD (my backup) but not all the photos showed up in Lr.  However, I can access them in Bridge and open them in Ps.  Whats wrong?

Hi, thanks for your help. Im really stumped. Yes all the file handling and destination folders are showing. I am using lightroom 4.4, its updated. i used it a few days ago with no problem. Basically i do my usually and upload and click import. During import, the white bar goes very fats and no imported preview images pop up. And it almost freezes like- saying copy and import photos in the upper left corner. On the main screen it just continues to say importing files. I have tried several cards and two different usb cords. Nothing so far and I have been trying for the last three hours, while reading forums.
    thanks again for your help!!

  • Lightroom is not importing all photos in a folder

I shot with lightroom on my mac tethered to my camera
The images are not all showing up in lightroom but are showing up in bridge. I have tried two computers to view this with lightroom

OK, so converting tags back and forth does not seem to help. The only way I've been able to get iTunes to recognize these tracks is to completely remove the id3v2 tags. If I readd the tags after that, it works too.
I have around 5000 tracks (randomly located, of course) that are messed up, so my only option would be to use some tag program to remove all tags from my library (around 15,000 tracks), and then to readd them. Not an attractive option.
I'm really pretty disgusted with iTunes at this point. It seems that, well, 1. using it to convert my id3v1 tags to id3v2 screwed up a good chunk of my tags, and 2. any other mp3 player can recognize these tracks.
Between my wife and I, we have 3 ipods, so it would be nice to get some support directly from Apple at this point. Sorry to vent, but my wife wants to kill me because she can't get the Smiths or the White Stripes, among many, many others on her ipod. Argh....

  • Lightroom 5 won't import all photos on card

    Hello,
I've been using Lightroom 5 successfully for half a year (Mac OS X 10.7.5--my camera is a Canon Mark III--and I shoot raw), and never had a problem with importing photos. Suddenly yesterday, when I clicked on import, and then my card, the thumbnails on the card came up, but most were greyed-out, and the program only wanted to import a few select photos. I did the update for Lightroom 5, but still couldn't get the photos to import. The same thing happened again today with a second card, and I cannot uncheck/or check all of the photos, or find any other way to get the greyed-out photos to become un-grey or to import. I hope someone can help me soon, because I am running out of cards.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Catherine.
Normally these issues are due to some sort of hardware malfunction.
The cards themselves could be a problem (less likely because you have used multiple cards).
The card reader could have an issue.
The USB cable connecting the card reader to the computer may also be faulty (you could try a different cable and see what happens).
Sometime the USB port and controller might be corrupted.
Something to try while going through all the options is to copy the images from the card onto your system and then try to import them from the hard drive into Lightroom and see if the problem persists.
This process is a somewhat trial-by-error thing.

  • AutoFlow option not importing all photos.

When I choose a book theme, it defaults to a 20 page book with 1 or 2 photos per page layouts. It will AutoFlow enough photos to fill those spaces and leave the rest. Can I set up a book with max pages and more photos per page and then AutoFlow the photos in?

Use the Add page button at the bottom to add as many pages as you need. Then for each page click on the Layout button to set the number of photos in the layout you want to use.

  • Lightroom will not import my photos.   It did up to a week ago.   I have changed cards and cameras (both worked two weeks ago).   I can import the photos to Picasa and iPhoto

Lightroom will not import my photos.   It did up to a week ago.   I have changed cards and cameras (both worked two weeks ago).   I can import the photos to Picasa and iPhoto.   I get the following error message:
Some import operations were not performed.
The following files were not imported because they could not be read  [followed by a list of the files I wanted to import]
Thumbnails show up.  LR just will not import them.
Any idea what is going wrong?

If the Import button is not clickable, that means that Lightroom thinks you have no new photos to import (one possible reason is that they are duplicates)
So, you need to figure out why Lightroom thinks that. The way I would do this is to search your Library module for at least one of the photos, by file name. To do this, you would follow all 4 of these steps in sequence:
Click on All Photographs in the Catalog Panel on the left of the Library Module
Turn off all Filters (Ctrl-L or Cmd-L once or twice)
Expand all stacks: Photo->Stacking->Expand All Stacks
Search for one or more of the photos using the Filter Bar (press backslash), search by File Name

  • New photo app does not import all of my photos from iphoto library

I have just installed  10.10.3 on my Macbook and the new photo app does not import all of my photos from iphoto library. I have about 3200 photos in the library and only 2300 are presented for import. I only have 1 library so I didn't choose the wrong one. Any suggestions?

Upon closer inspection it appears that the missing photos are in a folder called IPhoto Library.  This folder is greyed out when I choose the import folder.
When I use 'show package contents' it reveals the missing photos (below).  Why is my iphoto library so scrambled!  Thanks for any insight.

  • GP-E2 and lightroom 4.1 not importing location.

I have being taking quite a few photos using a 5D MKIII with a GP-E2 attached, CR2 files have the GPS data as I can see it on the camera when viewing the photos, but when import them in Lightroom, I do not see this photos to have the geotag information. Can't find much information about it.....

My GP-E2 was delivered by FedEx about an hour ago.  This is exactly what I did:
I took the GP-E2 outside where it had a clear view of the sky, turned it on and waited until it got a stable fix, turned it off and returned into the house.  I then attached it to my 5DM3, turned both on, and set up the GPS using the 5DM3 GPS menu.  I set Auto time setting to Auto Update, Position update timing to 15s (the default), Digital compass to enable and then performed the compass calibration.
I then snapped a picture of a map on my wall, turned the system off, removed the CF card and connected it to my iMac via a CF reader and imported the image into LR as a dng, checked the geo info, deleted the image and file from LR, and reimported as a native CR2 file.
I then replaced the CF card into the 5DM3 and repeated the import processes only this time I imported directly from the camera rather than removing the CF and using a CF reader.
Things just worked as I assumed they would.  All four images as imported into LR4.1 came with their geo metadata intact.  I was not surprised at the accuracy of the GP-E2 in the house as I have a large south facing window and my several other GPS devices all work well from my desk.
I can't think of what might be going wrong with your setup but at least you know it should work.  You might try deleting the LR preferences and try again.  I've heard of strange geo metadata problems, along with many other strange situations, being cleared up by deleting the preferences.

  • Can not sync all photos in Aperture into Iphone 5

I can not sync all photos in Aperture into Iphone 5. It always can sync some photos into 5. Then finish and prompts: "itunes can not synchronize (other)thousands of projects, and see more information in itunes".  That means most of my photos can not seen on Iphone 5, it seems just can't import to 5. Is that the problem of Iphone or the pictures in Aperture, or even just because lack of sufficient space?

    Solved here...

  • Photo App does not display all photos

Running iOS 7.0.4 on an iPhone 4S. The new Photo App does not display all photos properly. All photos show up as thumbnails. However, when you tap on some of them, only a blank page is displayed. The rest is fine. This issue started after the upgrade to iOS 7. Is this a bug? Hardware-related?

Upon closer inspection it appears that the missing photos are in a folder called IPhoto Library.  This folder is greyed out when I choose the import folder.
