Lightroom 4.3 Update and Camera Profiles.

Hello there!
First let me start by mentioning that im running Lightroom on a Mac OS X (10.8.2).
I was running v4.2 for a while until the v4.3 update came out about a week and a half ago.
I updated to v4.3 and everything was working fine until I noticed something today.
Im having problems with Camera Profiles. I do run the latest 2012 process.
The problem to be exact is when I open catalogs that were made with v4.2
I scroll down to Camera Profiles and here is what i get.
I have presets that automatically correspond to the "film" profiles below.
But ever since the upgrade it automatically goes to ACR 4.6 instead of the "film" profile.
I know for a fact that with v4.2 I only had these profiles:
Adobe Standard
Camera Landscape
Camera Neutral
Camera Portrait
Camera Standard
Camera Vivid
with the addition of the "film" profiles.
After updating, thats what I get when opening v4.2 catalogs.
Heres the weird part.
When i create a v4.3 catalog, all of those Camera Profiles disappear.
leaving only these:
Adobe Standard
Camera Landscape
Camera Neutral
Camera Portrait
Camera Standard
Camera Vivid
and nothing else.
When I looked at the Camera Profile folder, the ones I added are there but doesnt show up in Lightroom.
Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Adobe > CameraRaw > CameraProfiles
Is this a bug or is there a fix for this? Does v4.3 read Camera Profiles from another location?
If so please help!

I would suggest a two-step process:
1) The problem could be due to a corrupt Preference File. This file can go "funny" and is then responsible for all kinds of strange behavior of Lr. The remedy is replacing the Preference File.
Re-installing Lr, or upgrading Lr does not replace the Preference File since it is designed to stay intact during upgrades.
See here for where to find the Preference file for your OS: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/preference-file-locations-lightroo m-4.html
See here for how to go about Replacing the Preference File: http://lightroomers.com/replacing-the-lightroom-preference-file/745/
2) If that does not help: Un-install Lr and delete the downloaded Lr 4.3 file. The file might have become damaged during download.
Then download it again and install.

Installed Lightroom 5.7 Update and Camera RAW 8.7 But still will not recognise my Canon 7D MkK ll even though this is now on the list- what can I do?
    Operating System OSx Yosemite IMac.

What exactly does "not recognise" mean, Kathy?
You're on Mac (thanks for providing that detail): are you getting a "could not be read" message? If you are, it's a write permissions issue with the destination. Change the permission, and all should be well.

  • Lightroom 4.4 beta and Camera Profiles Issue

I'm testing Lightroom 4.4 beta and noticed that my D600 RAW files don't seem to be interpreted correctly when selecting camera profiles such as Camera Neutral or Camera Standard, etc. This becomes most obvious when processing higher ISO files. The only profile that seems to come the closest is Adobe Standard. I shoot in Camera Neutral. When I view them in Lightroom 4.4 and select camera neutral, the shadow areas especially seem overexposed. I don't remember having this issue in Lightroom 4.3. Will the final Lightroom 4.4 do a better job with camera profiles? I really hope Adobe works on this.

Here is Adobe Standard 100% crop, which looks closest to the View NX 2 rendition shadow-definition-wise, but not so much color-wise:
Here is a 100% crop of Camera Neutral preset, where shadows look like they've been pushed, but they haven't.
Here is the way View NX 2 renders this file, but unfortunately I had noise reduction turned to "normal" in-camera and View NX 2 won't let me turn that off to view the clean RAW file. I don't have CNX 2, which would have allowed me to turn off the noise reduction. Still this illustrates a difference between shadow definition and color brightness difference:
This is the full photo so you can see the lighting circumstances:
Maybe I expect too much. I don't know. Let me know what you guys think.

    Hi,
Yes, both Camera Raw and Bridge are included. Bridge will need a separate installation, however.

  • Lightroom 2 and Camera Profiles for the Nikon D50

    Hi,
I've installed Lightroom v2 and the new Camera Profiles, as per the instructions and various postings I should now see my camera name appear in the Profile section of Camera Calibration.
The default profile is ACR 4.4 and when I drop the list down I see the usual settings and Camera D2X Mode 1 Beta 1, Mode 2, etc. but no reference to Nikon D50?
The Metadata on my images is set to a Make of NIKON CORPORATION and a Model of NIKON D50.
Looking in C:\programdata\adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\ I can see there is a D50 profile but Lightroom v2 isn't showing it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • DNG Converter 5.2 and Camera Profiles

    Hi!
I tried to search for an answer but did not find any.
Question - how and when DNG Converter will use Camera Profiles?
How do I specify which profile to use?
I assume it can use them - version 5.2 comes bundled with them...
    Тhanks for the help!
P.S. Since new version has installer, I'd suggest to create uninstaller too.

    >This somehow implies that DNG Converter reads settings from installed Lightroom. I'm not sure that this is the case - DNG Converter seems to be completely independent product.
Yes, it does...for the camera model, if you have modified the Camera Raw Default in either Lightroom or Camera Raw then DNG Converter will use the user specified default. If there is no user set default, then of course will use the regular Camera Raw Defaultwhich in the case of 5.2 is now Adobe Standard. (I can't remember what version of DNG Converter started reading the CR prefs).
    >If I give DNG file to someone, who uses DNG-compatible program (other than Adobe's), do I have to give him all profiles as well?
If you are using a "custom" profile other than Adobe Standard, the behavior is to embed that profile in the DNG so it is self describing. The only complicating factor is what version of Camera Raw/Lightroom the recipient is using. If they are using a version prior to Lightroom 2 or Camera Raw 4.5, then those older versions ignore the embedded profiles and will use the earlier simple profiles that have been used since DNG/ACR was introduced.
As for checking on updating the DNG Profiles in the future, DNG Converter, as it's rev'ed, will include any new profiles that come out and will update them for any already installed and add any new profiles available for a given camera. The odds of updating existing DNG Profiles is not largethat's what the 2 beta rounds was for, to shake them out. But it's possible. It's more likely that profiles for new cameras will be added.

  • Latest Update: New Camera Profiles for the D700 (Version 4)

I see with the latest update of Lightroom brought with it version 4 of the camera profiles.  I've dabbled with using several of them, especially the Camera Portrait.  I have versions that consist of for example:
    Camera Portrait
    Camera Portrait beta 2
    Camera Portrait v3
    Camera Portrait v4
Of course, the previous versions can be left as is however the list I have now is quite long and wanted to know if I would be missing out if I were to discard/delete previous versions and just keep the v4's.
I realize this is personal preference however are the newest versions (version 4) for Camera D2X, Camera Landsape, Camera Neutral, Camera Portrait, Camera Standard and Camera Vivid for the D700 all one needs for the average Lightroom user?
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you all for giving me your advice.  Like kbkbn said, the older versions don't do anything by being there and you never know if you want to use one of them in the future.  I will start using the version 4 profiles and compare them more to the older versions.  Thanks again.
Are there any other worthwhile sources of profiles?  I do have a few I created myself with my Color Checker Passport for specific shooting locations in my yard for specific times of days.
    Thanks again.

  • Lightroom 5.7 Not Showing Camera Profiles from DNG File

    Hello,
I just installed Adobe DNG Converter 9.0 and converted some Nikon D7200 fles to DNG for import into Lightroom 5.7. This works fine except for the Camera Specific profiles not showing up. Only Adobe Standard shows up.
When I open the same DNG file in Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop CS6, [it] properly shows all the camera specific profiles for the D7200. What am I doing wrong?
Here is what the develop module Camera Profile drop down menu looks like in LR 5.7
And in Photoshop CS6 Adobe Camera RAW ( ACR ) 8.7.1.311
    Thanks for your insight.

gonzalu,  the reason is because the profiles are installed separately for Camera Raw vs Lightroom.
If you're using Lr 5.x, then to get the extra D7200 profiles visible in Lr, you'll need to manually copy/install them.  Try looking here:
      C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera\Nikon D7200
and copy the contents of that folder to here:
      C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles
(where you should substitute your actual username, above).
Then restart Lr and the profiles should be visible now.
(You don't need to do this step if you're running Lr CC, because the new profiles are included with that installation.)

  • Do I Need the lens and camera profiles?

I have been using Photoshop Elements for lots of years (currently on PSE 12).  Today I discovered over 400MB of Adobe lens (LCP) and camera (DCP) profiles.  It appears that the files have been on my system for many years.  None appear to be for any cameras I have.
Do I need these for PSE?  Can I just delete them?
    -- Larry
PS:  I know they are not causing any problems but I kind of like to keep things clean.  There are over 2300 such files.

Those are installed with photoshop elements and updated when you update the camera raw plugin and also are used by the adobe dng converter, so leave them and do not delete them.
If in the camera raw dialog you go to the Camera Calibration tab and look at the Camera Profile, those are part of the above files your asking about.

  • I attached my perfectly functioning iPhone 4 to my computer to update and came back to an error message saying I have to do a factory restore which cause me to lose everything recent because I'm not even sure that the backup completed correctly

I left my iPhone attached to my computer to do an update and now I can't use the phone at all.  It was taking so long I left it, when I came back there was an erroe message saying that I need to do a factory restore on the phone.  It wasn functioning perfectly before I attached it to iTunes to do the update and now since I can't even be sure that the back up completed, I'm faced with losing a lot of stuff recently added to my phone.
I don't want to do a restore, I just want my phone back to how it was this afternoon before I connected it to iTunes.

If the screen shows a plug going to itunes, then you have no choice,  It's in recovery mode.  You'll be given the chance to restore from a backup either from itunes or icloud.
I assume when you got the message to update (was this for the ios or update some apps?), that was before the device when dead.  At any rate, doing a restore does not change the ios.

  • Lightroom 3.6 update and now i can't import anything

I've been using LR 3 for a while, really loving it, then a couple of days ago, I was prompted to an update for 3.6.  I did this and now I can't import anything.
I'm using a Mac, OS 10.7, and I've been using a Canon 60D with great success and results, and nothing has changed except for me updating to 3.6.
I'm using Camera Raw 6.6 and I updated the DNG converter to 7.2 and still it won't work.  The message i get is that the following couldn't be imported because they could not be read.  It's true for the RAW and the JPEG files, both.
    Help!

I have the exact same problem. I updated to 3.6.12 and encountered the "blank page" printing problem. I ended up re installing Firefox 3.0.19. Printing works great. Also Firefox 3.5.15 gave the same blank page printing problem. I also installed "Better privacy" and " Ghostery"at the time of updates. These programs do not run under the 3.0.19 version. Not sure if if they are related to the problem. Good luck and hope a solution to the problem comes about.

  • Is there a tool for Lightroom to apply lens and camera corrections as easily as with DxO?

DxO is great, but there is something unfixably wrong in the combination of DxO and Photoshop since i installed the plugin, which is jamming Photoshop or Windows. I got my money back, but the tools in Lightroom and Photoshop are not so good and fast as in DxO. Am i maybe missing some great plugin, or some automatic lens correction function?
    Thanks!

LR has lens profiles and automatic CA removal, and you can choose to enable them by default, if you wish.

  • Adobe 3.3 and camera profiles

I am running 3.3 on a MacPro.  I shoot with an olympus E-1.  When I go to camera calibrations the only three options I have are ACR4.4, ACR 2.4 and Adobe standard.  In Kelby's book the drop down menu shows many other options.  What am I doing wrong?
    thanks in advance.

These are the only profiles that are supplied by Adobe for the E-1.
For most of the Canon and Nikon cameras other profiles are supplied. Go to the CameraProfiles folder to see the cameras that Adobe supplies additional profiles for.

    Ann,
My problems appear to be OpenGL-related, as do many of the same problems other users are seeing. I'm willing to accept that something about the machine that I'm seeing the problems on (my main XP work machine) are related to something about my system. I've tried everything that's been suggested in the forum, including updating my video drivers and various other things. Part of the problem, IMO, is that video card makers are geared strongly toward gaming, and don't really care about PS users. Adobe tells me to contact ATI, which I did. ATI tells me it's Adobe's problem. Go figger.
    My
main problem is this: When I open a file in PS and then drag the window to a different location, the content of the window disappears, letting the background show through. Adobe says that they haven't been able to reproduce the problem, but it's been reported by some other users. Makes it kinda hard to get any work done!
On my other machine, which is used mainly for surfing, I recently did a clean install of Vista 64-bit, and CS4 works fine on it. Hence, I'm pretty sure my work machine is fouled up some how, I just don't know where to look for the problem.
