Lightroom 4.3 won't start

Window 7 64 bit
On trying to start lr 4.3 the message "The application was unable to start (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.
lr 4.0 works perfectly.
Can anyone explain what is happening and why?

  • Lightroom 3.x won't start for one user on my computer.  Works fine for all others.  Help?

I'm running Vista and LR 3.2.  I have multiple users accounts on the same computer (my family members).  Everyone is able to use LR except one user.  Whenever he trys to launch LR, he gets an error message that says:
    "Lightroom - Opening Catalog: IMG_0154.JPG.lrcat"
Directly under that is the MS Windows dialog box that says "LR 64-bit has stopped working" and to look for an online solution and close the program.
I really don't want to reinstall LR again unless I can do so without losing the catalogs from all the other users.  It would be best if we didn't lose the catalog from the user that can't start LR, too.  It's lotsa work to redo...  Help on what to do?
    -Willcy-

Don't have a clue what's happening, but workaround
should eb possible bu creating a ne catalog then importing original into
    new. Steps required:
    1. User opens their accoun on PC
    2. Hold down Alt key when launching Lightroom. A dialog should open that will allow you to switch catlogs or create a new one
    3. Choose Create New Catlog. Give it a name (e..g the Users name). and make sure that it is located within the Users account area on hard disk (same location as original is probably best).
    4. When Lr opens go to File menu and choose Import from Catalog
    5. A dialog will open. Locate the old catlog (i.e. the lrcat file) and select.
    6. Hit Choose button
    7. Lightroom will check integretity and contents of old catalog. A dialog will open. Make sure all folders are checked.
    8. Hit Import button.
    9. Close Lr when catlog import is complete.
10 Reopen Lightroom. The new catalog should open by default

  • Photoshop Lightroom 5.5 Won't Start

Just installed Lightroom 5.5 along with other CC apps on a lab computer @ my community college in preparation for imaging the lab with this software.
All apps behave as expected but Lightroom will not start.  If I watch in Task Manager I see lightroom.exe appear for just a second or two.
Please note that this is an enterprise licensed version so any suggestions to log out of Creative Cloud & log back in do not apply.
I've repaired the app, reinstalled it, generated a new installation package & reinstalled & nothing has made the slightest difference.  There is no entry in Event Viewer indicating an application crash.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated...

What you describe seems to be related to the cached licensing information not being accessible or it being corrupted.  Adobe has a help page about what to do to fix it:

  • Lightroom 5.5 won't start!

    Hi
Since updating to the latest version of Lightroom 5.5 via the CC app for Mac it will no longer run. I see a splash screen briefly and then nothing. There is no error message displayed on the screen but when I look via the console app I can see the following. (sample shown)
    04/07/2014 08:56:20.000 kernel[0]: CODE SIGNING: cs_invalid_page(0x100000000): p=1755[AdobeCrashDaemon] final status 0x0, allowing (remove VALID) page

!! Did you remember to add a copy frameworks step to your project?
I have tried the suggestions found in response to other posts, namely signing out and back in to CC, setting r/w permissions to a couple of folders and also deleting content to the ./SLCache folder but still no joy.
What I have found is that if I download the latest version via the Adobe site rather than using the CC app then this works but I am now being nagged to enter a serial number or continue as a 30 day trial.
    Any suggestions?
If this is a known bug that will be addressed via a CC update in the next 30 days then I can live with it. Otherwise, is there a way to convert the trial to an official CC version?
    Cheers,
    Mark

    Hi
The suggestions to download and install manually a version and  then sign out and back into CC did not work. The issue being that it continued to see it as 30 day trial. Maybe after the 30 day trial expires it would then allow me to licence, however, I have now found a solution found by other members which is to rename the SLStore folder found here:
    The full steps are.
    1.  Uninstall the Trial version (if applic)
    2. Install via the CC app
    3. Running LR 5.5 once installed will not work with the slash screen appearing briefly.
    4. Go to /Library/Application Support/Adobe/
    5. Rename the folder SLStore to SLStoreBackup
    6. Start LR 5.5
    7. You will now be informed that the trial is over and have an option to licence the version which it will now do associated with your CC account.
    Job done.
    Cheers,
    Mark

  • After CC update (2014) Lightroom 5.5 won't start.  Does nothing.  Windows 7 Pro (64 bit)

Photoshop CC 2014 launches fine.  I've been using Lightroom since 2.0... Never a problem with an update.
    Help!
    Thanks,

I found the answer on this forum.  Here's the link:
Not able to launch Lightroom after updating it to 5.5 from Creative Cloud

  • Lightroom CC 2015 won't start after installation

I just downloaded the upgrade for Lr 2015. Everything went well, and a new icon appeared on my desktop.
But, when I click on the icon, nothing happens.

Just for clarification, did you actually go to preferences and click on the sign out button, or did you just click on quit? Clicking on quit will not work. You actually have to sign out. I don't mean to be so elementary, but some have misunderstood this.

  • Lightroom Won't Start!!!

I downloaded and installed lightroom 1.0 on my laptop. Works great. However, when installed on my desktop, it won't start at all. I've searched this forum and don't see anything so I'm looking for suggestion.
My system is a intel e6600 with 2gb ram. I'm running a raid 0 for my OS and wondering if this is the problem. I know cs2 had problems with holding activation setting in a raid 0 environment but I can't even get to a splash screen to enter my license number.
Thanks in advance for any help . . .

Look, I appreciate the help (sarcastic or not) but reading the compatibility issues, I don't read anything here that helps me to get Lightroom to start. When I double click on an icon or the application file, nothing happens.
    Windows Vista Compatibility.
Windows Vista is a brand new operating system from Microsoft and has not been available in its final form long enough for Adobe to fully certify Lightroom for use on Vista. Adobe is working hard to finalize support or Vista as quickly as possible and will deliver appropriate software updates over the launch period.
Lightroom 1.0 will install and run on Windows Vista but Adobe cannot guarantee the quality of the software experience until final testing is completed.
Known issues for using Lightroom 1.0 on the Vista operating system are listed below:
    1.
Lightroom CD and DVD burning tools will not currently function
    2.
Importing files directly from a Camera or Card Reader may not function properly. Please copy files to a local hard drive via the operating system before importing the files into Lightroom.
Working with Lightroom 1.0 and Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw
Lightroom and Photoshop Camera Raw share the same image processing technology to ensure consistent and compatible results across applications that support raw processing. These applications include:
Photoshop CS2, Photoshop Elements 4.0, Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Premiere Elements 3.0.
    Photoshop Camera Raw 3.7
Adobe applications must be updated with the Camera Raw 3.7 plug-in in order to ensure compatibility with Lightroom 1.0 develop module settings. Photoshop CS2 users can update the Camera Raw plug-in automatically using the Update tool listed under the Help menu. The Camera Raw 3.7 plug-in can also be downloaded and installed manually by visiting the Adobe web site: www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html
Please follow the installation instructions carefully.
Sharing Lightroom Settings with Camera Raw 3.7
By default, Lightrooms develop module settings are stored in Lightrooms database. In order to ensure that Lightroom develop settings can be viewed by Camera Raw 3.7 the settings must be written to the XMP metadata block for that file. This metadata is stored in an XMP sidecar file (Imagename.xmp) in the current image directory of proprietary raw files or stored directly within DNG files. To update images with the latest develop settings, choose the library module and select the group of target images. Choose the Export XMP Metadata to File option in the Metadata:XMP file menu.
Note: This menu option is only available in the Lightroom Library.
Viewing Lightroom settings in Camera Raw 3.7
Before working in conjunction with Lightroom and Camera Raw please set the Camera Raw preference to: Save image settings in: Sidecar ".xmp" files. By default Camera Raw will display the image adjustments exactly as performed in Lightrooms develop module.
However, at this time Camera Raw 3.7 is unable to support further adjustments to the following settings or tools:
    1.
    Recovery
    2.
    Fill Light
    3.
    Vibrance
    4.
    HSL
    5.
    Grayscale
    6.
    Red Eye Reduction
    7.
    Clone/Heal
The controls currently available in Camera Raw 3.7 will continue to function normally and provide incremental edits beyond those performed in Lightroom.
The Lightroom adjustments that are not available in Camera Raw 3.7 can be cleared by choosing the Clear Imported Settings option in the Camera Raw settings menu.
Viewing Camera Raw settings in Lightroom
Raw files edited by previous versions of Camera Raw files will maintain their previous appearance when imported into Lightroom. Note: Those files must have been edited with the preference set to Save image settings in: Sidecar .xmp files in order for Lightroom to respect the previous edit. Files edited in Camera Raw after importation into Lightroom can be updated in Lightroom by choosing the Import XMP Metadata from File from the Metadata:XMP file menu.
Note: This menu option is only available in the Lightroom Library.
Additional Notes on Camera Raw and Lightroom:
    1.
Camera Raw will only read the current settings for the primary image in the Lightroom Library.
    2.
Virtual Copy adjustments and Snapshot adjustments will not be displayed or available in Camera Raw 3.7
    3.
Camera Raw 3.7 continues to provide support for only raw file formats.
    4.
Lightroom is able to perform non-destructive editing on JPEG, TIFF and PSD file formats.
    Flash Card Downloading and Vista
    If you are using Vista.
Right click on the " Lightroom Icon" find your way to the compatibility Tab and click on run as WinXP Service Pack 2.
This seems to allow you to import in any format i.e. Raw or DNG.
    NAS units and Network drives
NAS units are a high priority with the Lightroom team further information will be provided at a later date.
At present Lightroom does not directly support network drives.
Unconfirmed at present - NVidia's NView Desktop Manager may cause problems with Lightroom.
Workaround - If you have this manager (and are having problems) please disable the NVidia's NView Desktop Manager on your computer.
The option to change NView should be found by going to control panel and opening the NVidia NView icon.
Lightroom does not recognize Photoshop CS2 - Windows
Perform this at your own risk.
    Here's how to fix it:
    1) Run regedit.exe from start menu->run
    2) Look for this folder:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\photoshop.exe
In that folder, there should be a key "Path" and its value should be the folder where Photoshop CS2 (or any other Photoshop version) is installed."
If your registry does not have that folder, created it and add a "Path" key with the value being the path to Photoshop CS2:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\
You cannot create a library in a Windows Compressed Folder
And it certainly is a good thing. You don't want to suffer the decrease in speed if you install a database into a compressed folder.

  • Why Lightroom CC won´t start?

    Hallo everybody,
i have much troubles with my Lightroom CC.
When i click on the programm app - the Lightroom-start-screen appears for one second - then nothing happens.
    My previous trys:
    - re-installing lightroom
    - deleting the plist´s
    - start the app in different user accounts (Admin and other users - no difference)
    Every other CC-App starts normally
Whats the problem? Can you help me?
    Thanks for your response!

Open your Lightroom sub-folder by default it is located under user(your name)> My Pictures> Lightroom/
Check to see if there is a file with .lock(LOCK) extension? See the screen capture.
If there is a .lock file present delete the file and try opening Lightroom again.

  • Premiere will freeze at loading screen and won't start. Running win7 64bit

Hi, I'm having a bit of a problem here.
I just recently upgraded to CC because I had this issue with the CS 6 versions.
    The problem:
Premiere Pro, inDesign, Illustrator and After Effects won't start. They will all get stuck at the loading screen. The weird thing is that Photoshop and Lightroom work without any problems.
I've tried restarting, completely wiping all Adobe Software with the cleaner tool and reinstalling. I've contacted support via chat and the couldn't find a fix. I then looked for weird processes in the task manager and found out that after a while (2-5 minutes) of letting Premiere show a blank loading screen (no "Loading ..." / "Initialising..." etc), suddenly "Loading ImporterPhotoshopProxy.prm" will appear and a process called "PhotoshopServer.exe" will show up in the task manager. If I kill this process then Premiere will start.
Has anyone had similar problems? Can't find anything on Google.
    Thanks in advance.

If you had problems with CS6 upgrading to CC or CC2014 will not solve your problems.  You must have basic hardware/software problems that only will get worse going to more complex versions.  Do you have any third party codec pack installed?  You must have rogue processes running.  When you start up your system how many processes are running, look at your task manager?
    What is your hardware configuration?

  • Won't Start/  Start-up disk full/ How to open CD Tray manually

UGH. I was duplicating a catalog in Adobe Lightroom, and wasn't in the room. It tried to tell me that the start-up disc was full, but I didn't respond, and it came on several more times, finally crashing the computer. Now it won't start up. I get the chime, the grey screen with apple, then black screen with the following....
    /etc/master.passswd: Invalid argument
Missing Self ID for node 2!
    node 3!
    node 1!
I THINK I need to get in and clear out some of the start-up disc. I tried to start it as a target, but it did nothing. If I could get the CD Tray out, maybe I could use my Disk Warrior, but I don't know how to do it manually- is there a Paperclip trick on the metallic G5s that have the sliding-down door?
    HELP!

You can eject the tray by holding the mouse button down while it boots. Try a USB mouse & keyboard if you have one, but a bluetooth one should work.
If the mac is booting correctly you should get a dialog asking you to pair the mouse & keyboard if the OS cannot detect one that is paired. I think some startup key combinations work via bluetooth.
A known working USB keyboard is really the answer if you need to trouble shoot startup issues I'm afraid.

  • SAP won't start after recabeling sap system

    Hi,<br>
    <br>
I have recently recabled my sap system (from wireless to wired) and now my sap instance won't start anymore. The weird thing is that nothing major was changed. When i read the logs from the work directory it seems it cannot load dbsdbslib.dll. I have updated to the latest version of the kernel and maxdb (kernel=7.00 patch 221, maxdb=7.6.06.07) and i made very sure i got the right kernel (NT AMD64). I also checked the environment settings for the <sid>adm user. The weird part is that it seems SAP cannot connect to the database, but the databse starts just fine and r3trans -d also returns no errors. Does anyone<br> have an idea what could be wrong?<br>

    <p class=MsoNormal>Natalia,</p>
    <p class=MsoNormal> </p>
    <p class=MsoNormal>To answer your questions:</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>1. Did you create the SAP ticket, where this problem is
    reported?</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I didn't report it to SAP because it is just an IDES test
system. I can easily do a reinstall, but i would like to know the cause and
    solution to this problem.</p>
    <p class=MsoNormal> </p>
<p class=MsoNormal>2. Do you have dbsdbslib.dll at this location? What version?</p>
    <p class=MsoNormal>Yes, i have the dbsdbslib.dll at location
    D:\usr\sap\IDE\DVEBMGS00\exe and also D:\usr\sap\IDE\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64</p>

  • My iPhone 5 won't start!

My Iphone 5 won't start and tells me to connect the phone to ITunes but nothing happens when I do. The phone doesn´t show up in ITunes. What to do?

Apologies, 11.0.4 is the most recent of course...
You'll need to enter DFU mode.
Connect the iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes
Turn the iPhone off (hold down the power button at the top of the iPhone)
Hold down the sleep/power button and home button together for exactly 10 seconds, then release the power button
Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode has been detected
Hopefully this should work, with you being able to restore the device in iTunes.
However, be warned that this will erase all content on the iPhone, content you can restore if you have saved backups on your Mac/PC or on iCloud.
