Lightroom 4.4.1 odd file change problem

Hi folks,
Let's see if I can accurately descibe this and perhaps get an explanation from you.
I have a folder, for example, called 2004 keepers. Obviously, I have had this images since at least 2004 MANY of them are jpg's as I did not know enough to shoot raw then. Those jpgs were edited in LR.
I currently am using 4.4.1 but also have 5 installed with its own catalogs, but that is another issue.
I look at some images, maybe show all images in the catalog and look at them in the grid, some in loupe. Maybe open one or two uin develop, but make no changes.
Then I notice as I sync a backup of my images, that not only has Lightroom changed the Date Modified of SOME of these jpg's (124 last night) but also the Date Created?? I cannot understand why it would touch either date to be honest, especially sonce I made no changes to the image.
To make it staranger, the Date Created it changed to yesterday FROM was in 2008, so likely Lightroom 2 (or three by then?) changed it once before on the Date Created.
And last, it dopes this on some .xmp files as well even though thoose images have not beeen changed.
Now, to further add to it, LR adds either exactly 90 or 100 bytes to the jpgs it changes.
Since I caught this as it was happening I could look at the 2008 and 2013 version of the jpg. I could almost talk myself into that it is a little sharper, but likely they are the same. ALso, they are still at process 2003 as they should be so LR is not automatically unpadting them to 2012.
What could possibly be going on.

What exactly do you mean by "creation date" and where are you looking to see this date?
If you are using Windows Explorer, then I suspect you are confusing "Date Created" with "Date Taken".....the first date is the date that the file was written to the hard drive, the second is the date derived from the file's EXIF information which records when the camera took the picture (and is the date you'll see in the metadata panel for that image recorded as "Date Time Original").
To illustrate what I mean, I've just copied one of my original pictures from 2008 to a new directory, and this is how the new file appears when listed in Windows Explorer:
Here you can see that Date, Date Modified, Date Taken all show original capture date. Date Created, however, shows today's date.....which is logical.
I've also dug out one of my early 1999 jpegs, done a Ctrl+S to write the metadata, then viewed in Explorer. This is what it looks like:
Date Created is back in April this year when the file was copied as part of setting up my LR5 Beta test catalog, Date Modified is today's date resulting from the Ctrl+S, Date and Date Taken still show the original 1999 capture date.
Assuming we are talking about the same field, I don't know what has caused your Date Created to reflect yesterday's date, but I suspect it wasn't Lightroom. Maybe the backup sync, however you did that?

If you are having the same problem, i.e. a disk permission problem, open your favorite search engine and search on, "change disk permissions", and I think you'll find plenty of information on how to fix the problem. This is a Lightroom forum. Your problem is with your operating system. There is no sense in rewriting instructions that are already available if you do a simple search.

Simple:
File -> Export to get your photos out of the iPhoto Library. In the Export dialogue you can set the kind to Original and you'll get back exactly what you put in.
Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
Once exported, you can then trash the iPhoto Library - just drag it from the Pictures Folder to the trash and empty it.
After that, if you're entirely neurotic about it, just put the iPhoto app in the trash and empty it.

Help with add file name problem with Photoshop CS4

Frustrating problem: Help with add file name problem with Photoshop CS4. What happens is this. When I am in PS CS4 or CS3 and run the following script it runs fine. When I am in Bridge and go to tools/photoshop/batch and run the same script it runs until it wants interaction with preference.rulerunits. How do I get it to quit doing this so I can run in batch mode? Any help is appreciated. HLower

Is there any way to get lightroom 4 to recognise raw files from my 7d Mark 2?

I have been searching on here for a few days now, but can't seem to get my head around the answers I got a new 7D mark 2 a few weeks ago. When I first came to download my pictures from the card I was only marginally surprised they were unreadable - I'd forgotten to format the memory card to the camera. No big deal, I thought, merrily deleting the photos Lightroom couldn't read and formatting the card. But now that I have formatted the card, I am kindof upset that Lightroom still cannot read the files at all. I have downloaded the DNG converter and updated all my software, but if the files are not being read at all, how am I supposed to convert them?
What am I supposed to do? I can see the photos on the camera itself - I usually shoot in Raw and JPEG to cover myself, but this time Lightroom isn't reading either format. If I shoot purely in JPEG I can download them without problem, but together (jpeg and raw) I can't see either.
Tech wise I have a hp laptop, 4GB RAM, 2tb hd (separate), Windows 7 64-bit os, Lightroom 4 and Photoshop Elements 12.

You use the DNG converter (version 8.7 or later) to convert the RAW to DNG. This is a separate step, outside of Lightroom, before you import. Then th DNGs will be import-able into Lightroom 4.
I usually shoot in Raw and JPEG to cover myself, but this time Lightroom isn't reading either format.
If your card has both JPG and RAW, Lightroom isn't reading the JPGs? Could you give us the error message or describe what is happening? Also make sure that the option to treat JPG next to RAW as separate photos is checked. Lightroom Help | Set import preferences

NFS File Access problem

Hello,
I am having problems trying to "tail" an existing file.
When the file is being written into, I can tail it without any problem.
The problem rises when the file is already complete, and I try to open it.
I tried to make a small demo program but for some reason I am unable to get the demo program to give the same behaviour.
Below is the class in which it all goes wrong.
I basically opens the file usring RandomAccessfile.
when I try to retrieve the length of the file a bit further, my ascii file I am viewing already changed to .nfs01231353434 something.
But all gets displayed ok.
When I then close the text pane in which this tail class is logging, the file itself is deleted.
As this has something to do with NFS here is the setup :
The java jar file is located on a remote solaris disk, so is the ASCII file I am trying to view.
The local machine where I am running my application is Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-52.
Apologies if this information is kinda vague but as I am unable to supply a demo program, I dont know else how to explain my problem.

Lightroom 5.2 Error: The file could not be edited because Photoshop CC could not be launched...

When I am using Lightroom 5.2, and I try to edit a file in Adobe Photoshop CC from Lightroom, Photoshop starts up and after 15 to 20 seconds, I receive the following error message: "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CC could not be launched." If I click "OK" on the error message form, the image finally opens in Photoshop.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom 5.2 and Photoshop CC multiple times, but the edit in Photoshop problem won't go away.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

I am having the same problem in lightroom 5 on a mac (Mavericks). I'm wondering if it's because I have both Photoshop CS5 and Photoshop CC and somehow they are conflicting, but I don't see how. I clearly have Photoshop CC as the primary external editor.
Last night, after seeing this post, and ekupp's response, I uninstalled Photoshop CC and reinstalled it via the creative cloud and that fixed it, but today it's doing the same thing again. When I choose to edit in photoshop CC, Photoshop CC opens but I still get the error in lightroom. If Photoshop CC is already open, I still get the error. I refuse to keep uninstalling/reinstalling it... I can't lose Photoshop CS5 as I use it for designing (I like the view in mini bridge better), but I like CC for editing.
This is creating a secondary problem for me as I am ending up with a bazillion (OK, maybe 5) psd copies of the raw files that I want to edit. When I get the error, Lightroom proceeds to render the files. I really want to turn that function off because as of now I have to try to click the microscopic "x" for each file as it "prepares to edit" and that's tedious and is creating extra files I don't want.
Last thing, since I'm here and hopeful to get an answer... I have a Mac, as I stated and I like my spaces. However, when the "edit in photoshop" function works spaces continues to force me to the photoshop space. No multitasking allowed as my files are opened. I think this is a lightroom or photoshop quirk, as when I run actions I am able to go to a different space (safari or lightroom) to work as it works for me.

Not able to save file changes on HCP Web IDE

i am not able to save the file changes on my HANA XS Application created on HCP Trail Account using Wed IDE. This problem does not occur always but now it has become frequent. On click of save button waiting icon comes up and then after minutes it shows error message as Error while Saving.
I normally use HCP Web IDE platform for all development work.
My Account ID : i314165trial
Can anybuddy tell me what is the issue as this is will hamper the development process.

Check the permissons on the folder and drive, not just on the file.

10.8 Server file sharing problem

We have a new Mac mini with 10.8 and OS X Server app. The mini has direct attached storage and will be used mainly for File Sharing. There is a repeatable problem/bug with case sensitive folder names and file sharing. For example a folder named "Editorial" is inacessible via "Connect to Server" from a client on the LAN. The same folder with the same permissions, same everthing, except it is named "editorial" works perfectly. Change the uppercase E to a lowercase e and it works. The drive is formatted with normal HFS+. It is Not HFS+ case-sensitive. I have Xserves running 10.4, 10.5, and 10.6 for file sharing and none have this problem.
Has anyone else experieced this? Is there a fix? Other than making everything lowercase.

File sharing problems with my Media Player, an A C Ryan

I have a media player, an A C Ryan, hooked up to my wifi at home and it normally accesses all my hard disks that is plugged and shared on my iMac. I had no problems when the iMac was on Snow Leopard. Under Network/Workgroup in the AC Ryan's menu, I can see and access all the files on the hard disks.
The moment I upgraded to Lion, all such access was lost. The AC Ryan cannot connect to the hard disks any more via the wifi network. it's as though file sharing has stopped completely. I checked the file sharing settings on the iMac and nothing has changed i.e. the disks were shared as usual. After struggling with many possible solutions and failing (I checked out a lot of forums), I reintalled Snow Leopard and the problems were immediately solved.
Is there something seriously wrong with Lion's file-sharing? Has this been fixed in 10.7.2? My friend who has a similar setup (his media player is the WD Live) has exactly the same file sharing problem with Lion.

I believe that NTFS-3G has issues with Lion.
I use Paragon NTFS and have had no issues at all. I am pretty sure that NTFS-3G will get updated, but you need to check their site to find out when.

Dynamic html file generation problem

I have a HTML file(abc.html) which is used when user clicks on a particular link in my web application. Web application has been developed in java. Now due to certain law changes , user wants to add some notices to existing HTML file(abc.html). So when he clicks on the old link, he gets abc.html with those notices appended to it. All the notices are different HTML files.
So it looks like simple file append problem. But if it will modify my original file permanently, then it is not helping my purpose.
So my doubt is , how I can append different notices html files to abc.html file and still keep my abc.html file as it is because the changes are based on user conditions. So if X is affected with new laws, he will see abc.html along with notices , if Y is not affected, then he will see abc.html only.

The best solution would depend on the implementation details of your current web app, but, likely, the easiest way is to convert your html files to jsps. The jsp can then conditionally include relevant disclaimer fragments.

It means the photo has been moved, renamed or deleted outside of Lightroom (Hint: don't do that)
To fix the problem, either move the photo back to where it was (using your operating system), or re-connect in Lightroom following these instructions: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders

But my goal is not to type that far off.

Just like the earlier version

but only now will lead me to highestpage.cfm

If I understand your situation correctly, you can accomplish
this by setting the default web page names in your web server,
whatever that might be - Apache, IIS, etc. The web server will have
some default file names (web pages) that it will serve if no
specific file is requested. this is often index.html, index.cfm,
etc. You want to add myindex.cfm to that list.
