Lightroom 4.4 and Sony a6000?

I have lightroom 4.4 which I have updated and now uses Camera RAW 7.4. I am very happy with this version fo lightroom other than the fact that I do not seem to be able to download RAW files taken on my new a6000. I was under the impression that once I had bought a copy of Lightroom it would continue to be updated to remain compatible with new cameras - have I misunderstood. Do I now need to buy lightrrom 5 to be able to use my new camera?
Thank-you.

Unfortunately, you have misunderstood. Lightroom continues to be updated, and must be updated in order to support new cameras. Support for your camera was added in Lightroom 5.4. Lightroom 5 would be a paid upgrade for you. All of the subsequent Lightroom 5 updates would be available to you.

  • Does Lightroom 4.4 support Sony a6000 RAW files

    Hello Group,
I have tried and tried to get my version of Lightroom 4.4 to read my RAW files from my new Sony a6000.  I have updated my adobe programs and still have had no luck.  Do I need a newer version of Lightroom?  I am not sure if there is something I am doing wrong.  I do not have any plug-in that I can see.   I can see the files when I downloaded the files to my MAC but I would like to open in Lightroom.   Please help!
    Thank you

You need version 5.4 minimum, current version of LR is 5.7.1. Alternatively you could convert (outside LR) the RAW files to DNG files using the Adobe DNG converter and import them into LR.

  • Remote Camera Control and astrophotography for Sony A7(X) and Sony A6000

Hello, Sony makes the best sensors, no doubt about it. Sony makes the best hybryd cameras, that's why i bought a Sony camera BUT ... Astrophotographers are deeply looking at Sony 's camera (especially A7S) because of their astrophotography capabilities but there is a HUGE problem : no software allow BULB mode command, which is very important for astrophotographers. Most of time, astrophotography is some thing like that : 30 pictures, 5 minutes exposure for each picture and we have to add dark frames, flat frames, offset frames and so on. So, if Sony makes a software like Remote Camera Control, why does Sony not include long exposure (over 30s) control in this software ? So come on Mr Sony, don't let Canon leading astrophotographers. Please, add long exposure in your softwares !! Many thanks considering my demand.

I'm going to add that this should be available for ANY alpha series camera that has a bulb mode function in manual control.   This includes ,for example, the a5100.

  • I own Lightroom 4 and have updated the software however, I am unable to import images taken on the Sony A6000. I have also updated the raw converter and am still having this issue.

You can either upgrade to Lightroom 5.4 or later, or use the free Adobe DNG Converter version 8.6 to convert your RAW photos to DNG, which then will import into Lightroom 4.

  • I bought LR5.  They sent me LR 5.2.   ONly 5.4 and up works with my Sony A6000. Now 6 is out.  How can i get this upgrade?

I just purchased this Light Room 5.  Turns out they sent me the 5.2 version. Only 5.4 and above opens raw photo's with my Sony A6000 pictures.  I have been on hold 2 hours. HOw do I reach a human being at this dam company!
I'm told I get an upgrade as long as it's within 30 days of the purchase.  I have owned it for only a few days...  Can someone steer me. FYI I bought the LR5 via B&H on the internet. They told me to call Adobe.  Having trouble getting through :-)

You can download 5.7.1 - a free update here:
Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh
Adobe - Lightroom : For Windows

With regards to your .arw files:
You need to either purchase and install Lightroom 5.4 -- OR -- download and install and use the FREE Adobe DNG Converter version 8.4, did you actually launch and use the DNG Converter?
There should be no problem importing JPG files into Lightroom from your camera, what happens when you try? Is there an error message?

  • Lightroom v. 3.6 and Sony A99 RAW does not match

I recently bought the newest Sony A99 camera, but it seems L.v. 3.6 does not manage this (aparently new) type of RAW-pictures.
Do I have to buy the L.v.4 or can I use v. 3.6 with changing some settings?
    Thank you

    Hello mJim,
It works. Thank you for your help.

  • Sony A6000 DRO: is it possible to view Dynamic Range Optimization EXIF data in Lightroom?

The Sony A6000 has a feature called Dynamic Range Optimization.  You can set this to DRO Auto or set manual DRO levels (1-2-3-4-5).  This setting is recorded in the Metadata (EXIF) by the camera.  The Sony IDC software can see it - but LR5 does not. (LR supports the A6000.)  I assume Sony does something non-standard here, but it there any possibility of LR showing this EXIF data?  It is very handy for sorting through the photos (especially when you use DRO bracketing where the camera creates three JPGs with different DRO settings - either 1-2-3 or 1-3-5).

    Hi Quinn.
I'm not sure if this will help, but here's a snapshot of the table I'd like to use as source for a pop-up. It's part of a Sheet called "Rolling Rota", and whilst you can see each cell is presently a pop-up, it needn't be. I'd be happy to use this range of cells to set the staff names which then feed a range of pop-ups (in defined cells) when I run a script.
Once again, any help would be appreciated.

  • Sony a6000 and iMovie

This is perhaps not a strict iMovie question, but a general video question. I got the Sony A6000, which has many video formats. The top is AVHCD 60p, but I already googled that 60p is not compatible with iMovie (in fact, it's not even imported to my Mac). I tried AVHCD 60i; that does import, but I get artifacts (look at the bucket in the picture). So, which video format should I use for best results for Apple? I would prefer a format that, for example, can be directly viewed on iPad without further editing (although eventually I will edit in iMovie).

Hey, I just bought the same camera and it works perfectly on iMovie 08. I'm not sure about 09, but I imagine it will work on there as well. Good luck!

  • I upgraded to PSE 13 so I could edit RAW files from my Sony a6000 but PSE 13 is not recognizing any of the RAW files. My Sony a6000 is on the Camera Raw list and uses version 8.4. PSE 13 uses Version 8.6. Why isn't it recognizing the files?.

Why isn't PSE13 recognizing my Sony a6000 RAW files?

Not sure if upgrading to 8.7 would make any difference.  Photoshop has 8.7 so worth a try:
I don't use PSE13 yet so don't know if this upgrade is available for it.

  • Sony a6000 raw files

I have a Sony A6000 camera and can't seem to get Lightroom 5.6 to recognize the files and download them on a PC running Windows 8.  No problem on a Mac.   The Windows PC will see it with windows explorer but can't seem to get Lightroom to recognize the raw files.  I saw some articles about downloading a a plugin for lightroom but no where can I find where to download anything.  Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks... Gary

That camera has been supported since version 5.4 of Lightroom. Are you sure you have Lightroom 5.6 installed? There is no plug-in for Lightroom to provide the camera support. Lightroom does not use the Camera Raw plug-in.

  • I have downloaded Adobe camera raw 8.4 so that I can open raw files with pictures taken with the Sony a6000 camera.  However it is not opening the images in camera raw.  What can I do?

I have downloaded Adobe camera raw 8.4 so that I can open raw files with pictures taken with the Sony a6000 camera.  However it is not opening the images in camera raw.  What can I do?

Close and restart Photoshop if you have not already done so.
In Photoshop, go to the Help - About Plug-in... menu then choose Camera Raw.  What version does it say there?

  • Lightroom will not read sony ARW files

I understood the latest version of Lightroom supported the recent Sony A7 series, whose RAW files are Sony's own ARW files. I have the latest Lightroom but it will not read these files.

Here is a list of the Sony A7 series cameras that Lightroom supports, and the version of Lightroom required. The Lightroom versions are in the highlighted area.
If you are certain you have the appropriate version of Lightroom installed, then provide more information. Can your operating system browser see the raw files? Have they been downloaded to your hard drive? What operating system are you using? What is the exact version of Lightroom?

  • CS6 will not read/open Sony a6000 raw files

Have just purchased a Sony a6000 and I shoot in raw. When I came to retrieve the files from Bridge in CS6 it will not open them. The software shows up to date and if I try to open directly in CS6 nothing shows up. My Nikon downloads fine in raw. Please offer advice to start downloading my photographs.

Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
The Sony a6000 was first supported in Camera Raw 8.4
If you're running Windows 7 or Windows 8 or Mac OS X 10.7 or later then update Camera Raw via Help.
    Or manually install via
    Camera Raw plug-in installer

  • Adobe PSE13 and Sony NEX-6

    Hello everybody,
my question refers to the NEX-6 with the 16-50mm power zoom (SEL16-50)
Does someone know if it's possible to have the neccessary distortion corrections applied automatically when opening an ARW-file with Adobe PhotoShop Elements 13 with the Camera-RAW plug in ACR 8.7.1?
Although the NEX-6 is correctly recognized (as indicated in the frame) the opened ARW picture still exhibits the partly strong distortion. It can of course be corrected using the appropriate "filter", but this correction has to be executed for every single picture because the distortion depends on the focal length. OTOH, the distortion correction for my Leica D-Lux (109) is executed beautifully when opening an RWL-file with Adobe PSE13.
    Every suggestion appreciated.

    Yes.
It was first supported in Lightroom 4.2 and Camera Raw 7.2 (which is compatible with CS6 and CC)
