Lightroom 4.4 export

I had selected some photofiles in Lightroom 4.4 for export and after having selected the destination on one of the computers harddrives, I clicked "Export". When I wanted to repeate the process for some other files in the same main folder, a window stated that the files were offline or missing. What happened and how do I get my photos back?
Jan

This means that the photos are not in the expected location on your hard disk(s), and Lightroom cannot find them. This usually happens becuase you have moved renamed or deleted these files (or the folders that contain them) outside of Lightroom (to fix the problem you can use this procedure: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder-old.htm), or the hard disk where the photos are stored is not plugged in or powered off. On Windows, it can also happen if the drive that the photos are stored on has changed letters.

When I first upload to lightroom I set up a file called new photos. When I correct them I export to a newly named file. But when I go to the newly named

You should be getting an error message that PS CS5 requires a higher version of ACR with two options "render using Lightroom" or "open anyway". You should choose the first option. If you are not seeing the error message then go to your Lightroom prefrences >General Tab> under Prompts> select "Reset all warning dialogs", then try the edit in function again.

Lightroom won't export my exact dimension for my photos. How can I change this.

Are you running the latest version?
In Lr5.4 most but not all of such bugs are fixed.
If already running Lr5.4 then go to feedback forum and cast vote to the problem fixed.

  • Lightroom 4.1 export problem

Lightroom 4.1 will not export a deleloped image.  I have the metadata to new file set to automatic and I get no error mesage.  All my new exported files are the same as the original.  I need a detailed discription of what boxes need to be checked or unchecked and where to find them.  Something as simple as saving changes so that I might use them in another app should not be so difficult- version 2.7 worked fine so what's up with 4.1?

Still no luck... I just purchased a licence for my demo version- I was hoping not to have to do  a 1.1Gb download and/or redo my my catalog- is this required?

Are you saying that LR4 is exporting over the top of your exiting images, or that it is not exporting anything?   To test whether you can export anything, try exporting to a subfolder under your originals, instead of new names in the original images folder, which I think is what you’re saying you’re attempting: On the Export panel, all the way at the top, make sure to set Export To: to Hard Drive. Set the Export Location – Export To:  value to Same folder as original photo. Put a checkmark next to Export Location – Put in Subfolder Enter in “output” into the Export Location - Put in Subfolder: textbox. Uncheck the Add to this Catalog unless you really want to include the output of this experimental export in the catalog. Set Export Location - Existing Files to Ask what to do, so LR will indicate if it’s trying to overwrite the same files, again, which it should if the output subfolder is empty. Uncheck the File Naming – Rename To: so the files aren’t renamed. At the bottom change Post-Processing – After Export to Show in Explorer Click the Export button and see what happens.  It should do the export then open up Windows Explorer on the output folder you specified.    Before doing any of this, it might be wise to make a screenshot of your current Export settings, the Export To and File Naming sections at least, which you can both post here and use to reset things back from what I’ve specified, above.

  • Lightroom 5 cannot export files in original Raw format (LR 5.4, Mac, OS 10.9.4).

A client has the following problem: When trying to export files in the original Raw format (.CR2), the operation failed and a dialog informs us that "Some export operations were not performed". We can export JPEGs just fine.
After lots of testing, this is what we discovered:  The problem does not appear to be catalog-based; we run into the same problem using a test catalog.  The export operation works fine, however, with the same test catalog and images on two other machines, and it even works fine on the same machine with a new user admin account that we created.
So it appears to be something associated with the user account, , or with how LR is interacting with the user account, but I cannot figure out what it might be. We can copy the Raw files when using the Finder to do so. But not via Lightroom.  Any thoughts, ideas of suggestion would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks, Sean

As part of your testing make sure you've tried exporting JPGs from the same folder as the CR2s you're exporting as original, and export JPGs from CR2s to the same folder as you're exporting your originals.  This would test LR's read and write permissions from and to the folders being used.
From this document you can see that all the LR files other than the program, are under the /Users folder with different values possible for each user, so the difference could be that the users that work are using the original LR defaults, if you have just started using LR with them after you started having this problem, or at least that the user with the problem has some oddball settings that are interfering with Export as Original.
Preference and other file locations in Lightroom 5
You can test for the Preferences being off by either copying the preferences from a user that has the problem to a user that doesn't have the problem--probably through an external or common folder, or be deleting the preferences file from the user that has the problem and see if it resolves.  Moving the preferences file or renaming it may be better than deleting it if no change is seen, then you can restore the preferences back by moving or renaming the file back to the original location and name.

  • Lightroom 5.6 Export RAW to Resized JPEG Producing Poor Quality Images

I have the latest Lightroom 5.6 and am running into a problem that I never had EVER and I've been using the same workflow since LR1. I shoot in RAW and want to send my client JPEG proofs (resized to 1000px, 100% quality, and 96dpi, sRGB). I use the export feature and have tried everything, even saving the resized image at 300dpi but the export results are still absolutely horrible. The photo is muddled and blurry no matter what I try. This is obviously not a color space issue, or monitor/browser issue and as I said before, I've done resizing through LR plenty of times without this much compression loss. Anyone else running into this? What's the solution?
I took the same RAW file and exported to JPEG with resizing checked off and the image looked sharp as a tack like my RAW file in LR.
So, there is obviously something wrong with LR RAW to JPEG export when resizing. Which has NEVER been an issue before.
Adobe, seriously, get your S%&T together!

Never seen anything like that before. I export with resizing all the time. As long as the quality is somewhat up from 80% (100% is complete overkill) and I do appropriate output sharpening, the quality is always superb. Of course there is only so much you can do with a 1000 pixels so don't expect to zoom endlessly in on that. The ppi does not matter at all when you specify a size in pixels. Can you post an example?

  • Lightroom won't export more than one image at the time

I am having trouble exporting my RAW files as JPEG files. At first Lightroom 4.4 seemed to skip certain photos when exporting and now I'm unable to export more than one image at the time. How can I fix this? I didn't seem to have this problem before the 4.4 update, but then again, the 4.4 update has been running for a few days now. I run on a 32bit Windows 7 with 4GB of RAM.
Lightroom has also been a considerable lot slower since the last couple of days, yet there have been no changes at all to my computer or system or anything - nothing's changed expect for the fact that Lightroom isn't behaving as it used to.
    Can anyone help me?

I think I've found the problem - I've accidentally 'synced' my folder instead of importing the RAW files. Which brings me to my next problem and question - I've already edited the RAW files and would really like it if there's a way I could re-import the files without losing my changes/metadata, is there anyway that's possible?

  • Lightroom doesn't export a raw file in Photoshop CS6

I have both PhShP elements and CS6. I recently started working on an IMac. On my windows computer I always exported my files with Lightroom adjustments to CS6 and back. When I ask to export a file in CS6 with Lighroom ajustments it opens PhShP Elements what I don't want without the file.. Who can help me out here?   Ariane James

I agree with this feature request.
I have lightroom and PS Extended. Lightroom is perfect for browsing and searching through my RAW images (much better than Bridge I find), and many times I will process the RAW in lightroom and then send the TIFF to Photoshop for further editing.
HOWEVER, ;O) Photoshop extended has far more RAW capability. Sometimes I look at a RAW in lightroom and would like to send that straight to PS Extended to process the RAW with the extra features. At the moment, I have to manually open photoshop, search for the photo (which is a long time consumer when I already found it in Lightroom) and then process.
This would be a very handy feature.
It would also work perfectly with a similar extra feature to export RAW to a 3rd party program. Sometimes, after browsing photos in lightroom, I would like to send the RAW straight to Photomatix, an HDR software for tone mapping. It only works with RAW for tone mapping, but Lightroom only allows you to send a TIFF/JPG to an external program.
These simple features would really really speed up my work flow.

  • Lightroom won't export to Photoshop

Hi, I just downloaded the 4.4 update for LR and now when I export an image from Lightroom to edit in Photoshop it doesn't work!! This had happeded before and they send me a link - I think it was the 4.3 update but Idon't remember - but it took forever to get it sorted out. I irgently need to fix this as I am editing a wedding and this will take me forever to edit now!!!!!

I too have this problem and i had it before in 4.0 or 4.3. Now that i have upgraded to 4.4 i have the same problem and i was too looking for the solution. I found a work around which is only a couple of steps instead of just hitting Command and E to send to photoshop.
Just right click in the image you are working on and then select Edit in and you will see photoshop but dont select it, click on Select Program or Open with (cannot remember what it is) and then select your version of photoshop. Once this is done, on your next image just do the same steps, right click on image, edit in and select the second Photoshop in the menu and it will open just fine.
I know its not a fix but its a work around. You can also do a clean install of 4.4 and i think that should fix it. (pain in the *** which i havent done and probably wont do for a while since i cant have lightroom down.
    Hope this helps.

  • Lightroom to Photoshop export. Error upon saving to jpeg "Could not complete your request because of a program error"

Lightroom 2.4 to Photoshop CS2. My export parameters in Lightroom are Resize to fit W&H 850 pixels (for web), resolution 300 ppi. Export as TIF, sRGB, 8 bits. When I go to save as Jpeg, quality 10, I get the above error. I only get this error after I have used the adjustment brush in lightroom, and that is the problem. If I don't use the adjustment brush it saves fine. Now this is a recent issue. I have used the adjustment brush multiple times on a single issue in the past with no problem. Lightroom crashed about 2 weeks ago but I got everything up and running. I have reinstalled Lightroom and I have reinstalled Photoshop with no resolution. I have tested this may times and it's definatly the adjustment brush issue. If you have any ideas or experience like this I would appreciate some help.  Thanks

You could try removing the Lightroom/ACR adjustment settings using File Info in Bridge or Photoshop. The screenshot included below shows the two items that you should remove.
Note that camera-raw-settings will definitely appear in the list, but camera-raw-saved-settings will only be listed if you had a Snapshot in Lightroom (normally at least one is automatically created)

  • Adding a Lightroom action to Export Actions folder

Despite endless monitor calibration with Spyder, my prints from Mpix come out much darker than they appear on my Intel iMac monitor (running OSX 10.5.5). I have tried using Shades to darken my monitor, but I don't like my screen looking that dark all the time, and I am afraid if it is not on all the time I will forget to use it when photo-editing. I am considering leaving Shades off and adding an action to my export preset for printing that would increase the brightness in Lightroom 2.1 by a certain amount. I know I could use a Photoshop droplet to do the same thing, but Lightroom will already be open, so I'd prefer to do it in Lightroom. How would I go about creating this action? I think I know where it goes once I've created it, but I don't see any menu item or subject in the Help files for how to create one. I'd appreciate any available help. Thanks

You should try using their icc profiles.
Apparently, they will send their profiles if you ask for it as others have been having the same issues with Mpix. I you have LR 2, you can export directly to these icc profiles. Also, make sure that you calibrate to a reasonable brightness of around 100-120 cd/m2, which is usually around 2/3 of the brightness scale on most monitors. These intel iMacs have very bright screens and might need even lower settings.

  • Lightroom 5.3 Export Bug

During and after exporting a batch of photos, Lightroom will apply changes to the group of photos being exported, even if they are not selected and another photo (not being exported) is selected.  I haven't seen a discussion on this, but I do know that 5.0 had major selection issues.  This problem has caused me more than 3 hours of pain tonight!!
    Steps to repro:
    1) Select several photos to export
    2) Start exporting
    3) Select another photo in the catalog not being exported
    4) Make changes (such as set the rating or paste settings from previous or look at keywords)
Expected result: only the photo selected is changes
Actual result: the group of photos being exported changes and not the photo selected!!
This continues to happen even after the export completes.  Setting the rating or pasting settings from previous or setting keywords affects all of the previously exported images and not the image selected.  The only way to get around this is to quit Lightroom and restart it.

I tried a new catalog with 10 pictures.  I exported 1 and I do not see the problem.  Will let you know when I find out more.

  • Adobe Lightroom 2.7 exporting issue (says it is exporting at 300dpi but exports at 72dpi)

    Hi,
    I have lightroom 2.7.
I am a photographer that depends on lightroom. I do a lot of printing from images I export direct form it.
I am trying to export images at 300dpi.  I am selecting 300dpi in the export box under image sizing.  I use mogrify plugin also if that means anything to anyone.
However when I open up these images in photoshop and go to image size it says they are all 72dpi. My printers have also complained that this has happend as well as my wedding supplier. They all say my images are 72dpi.
I have read all the forum responses like getting rid of the minimise embedded metadata check in the box etc and nothing is working.
I am working hundreds of images at a time and therefore can't afford the time to set up an action in photoshop to resize every single image and sit there an hit the play button.
Does anyone have a simple answer to this issue that has proven to have solved the problem or any other non time consuming work around.  Or even a support number for adobe I can call.
It is causing me a huge amount of time loss and stress.
Would be awesome if someone had an answer floating out there.

    Bella,
I don't think you've understood my post above. When you export from Lightroom you create JPEG file, a JPEG file does NOT have a DPI measure. You cannot export a file at a certain DPI.
The reason is DPI or Dots Per Inch is a measure of length, inches. A file does not have a length, or a width for that matter. The only meaningful measure for a JPEG file in this context is 'Image Size'. Image size is expressed as pixels wide X pixels high, in the case of your Canon 5616x3744.
Exporting from LR, if you opt to 'Burn Full-Sized JPEG' at 100% then you will get a file of image size 5616x3744. Printed at 300dpi you'll get a print 18.7 inches wide.
If you want a print bigger than that then you have to create more pixels. Software does this by 'making up' new pixels based on the pixels that are already there. Exporting from LR and adjusting the Image Sizing will do it. You can do it from Photoshop. For optimum quality it's best done with some knowledge of the final print size, and print device.
From the sound of things if you supply both parties will full sized JPEG's then you are giving them as much as you can without getting into the murky world of upsizing. The metatdata tag that gives a DPI measure in the file is meaningless, don't let it fool you or the printers.
Hover your mouse over the file (in PC, not suer about Mac) and Windows will show you the image size.
    Hope this helps.
    Pete

  • Lightroom 4.3 Exporting "Empty" JPGs

I have been having a problem exporting w/ Lightroom on a Mac. It seems that no matter what export settings I am using, Lightroom will only properly export a few images out of several. I don't get an error message in Lightroom, but when I try to open the file, it tells me: "The file '__' could not be opened because it is empty". I'm at a loss, and I have to get several files exported today.
    Thanks!

I believe this has something to do with the use of Dropbox on your computer.
Try shutting down Dropbox and see if the export work. Or try exporting to a folder that is not monitored by DropBox.
