Lightroom 4.4 will no longer edit in Photoshop CS 6

Hello, I am running Lightroom 4.4 with Camera 7.4 and Photoshop CS 6 will no longer let me edit directly from Lightroom. I am on an IMac running the most recent OS, OS X 10.8.3.
Is this a mac software problem or an adobe problem. Can anyone help? Thanks so much!

D.A.R., Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question.
The only thing I can think of that changed is that I updated both Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop CS6 to their latest versions and I also updated my Mac OS X software at roughly the same time. (10.8.3). I am an adobe cloud member.
I have used Lightroom since it's inception and the preferences are set correctly for an eternal editor. Other external editors work correctly. When I ask Lightroom 4.4 to open an image in Photoshop it will launch Photoshop but nothing happens after that. No dialogue box of any kind appears.
I did talk to a nice fellow at Adobe two days ago about this issue and he shared my screen and tried the same fixes that I tried before (trashing the Photoshop preference file etc) but had the same results. He said he was going to send my problem higher up the chain but I have not heard back from them yet.
Prior to contacting Adobe and posting here, I uninstalled Photoshop CS6 and then reinstalled it and that worked until I quite the program. It did not work with Lightroom after that.
Than kyou inadvance for your help.

  • HELP! Lightroom CC file will not open "edit in" Photoshop CC after upgrade

help! I use Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC and I used to be able to "EDIT IN" and choose Photoshop which would then open up the image in Photoshop. Just updated last night (auto via CC) now it will NOT open in Photoshop...any suggestions! thank you!

Are you using Photoshop CC or Photoshop CC 2014?

  • How do I prevent Lightroom from creating duplicates if the edit in photoshop is not saved?

    Hello!
How do I prevent Lightroom from creating duplicates if the edit in photoshop is not saved?
So... Quite often I choose to 'Edit in photoshop' from Lightroom but then end up not saving the result. (for example, because I just wanted to experiment with the photo, or I'm not satisfied with the results)
However, Lightroom always creates a copy of the original photo, which stays in the catalog even if the photoshop changes aren't saved.
Is there a way to stop this, and only add a photo if it has been edited in PS?
    Using LR5 with PS CS6 on a Mac 10.9
    THANK YOU!

Select 'Open the Image in PS as a Smart Object'. The image will be rendered by ACR in memory without being written to disc until you save it from within PS.

  • Can no longer edit in Photoshop CS5

I recently uninstalled Lightroom 2.7 in favor of using my recently installed Lightroom 3.  I did the same in terms of unintalling Photoshop CS3 in favor of using only my recently installed version of Photoshop CS5.  As a result, coincidentally or otherwise, nothing works right now.  When I open LR3 images and go to "Edit In", Photoshop is greyed out and so I am unable to do any editing outside Lightroom itself.
Does anyone know how I might remedy this problem?  I am at the point of total frustration with both programs and am about ready to uninstall both of them and start all over again (which I dread).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks much.

Just reinstall CS5. I believe you can do a repair to fix the problem. When you removed CS3 the uninstaller removed some files needed by CS5.

  • Lightroom will now allow EDIT in photoshop CC or CS6

From lightroom the EDIT functions are graded out and can not Edit in either photoshop or CC
Can import photos directly to CS6 or Photoshop CC but not from Lightroom
    Have version 5.6 lIghtroom and 2014 2.1

    This worked~!~
    I used this solution:
Solution 2: Run a repair mode installation of Photoshop CC 2014 from the Creative Cloud desktop application.
This solution allows you to run a repair installation without uninstalling Photoshop CC 2014. If you've already uninstalled Photoshop CC 2014, install it from the Apps tab of the Creative Cloud desktop application.
Open the Creative Cloud desktop application.
    Select the Apps tab.
Scroll down (if necessary) until the Find New Apps section displays.
On the same line as Find New Apps, select Filters & Versions > Previous Version.
Click the Install button next to Photoshop and select CC 2014.
    Click Yes, install this version.
When you have run this, CC says you need to update Bridge and CC2014. I ran the Bridge update and then tested LR edit in. It said I still needed ACR 8.6 which I already had.
Downloaded a clean copy of ACR 8.6/DNG Converter 8.6 and installed.
The LR edit-in is working; CC says all up to date!
    Thanks for the solution!!

  • Lightroom 4.3 will no longer export images properly

Lightroom 4.3 no longer exports photos correctly.
Error Message is :-   Unable to Export :- an internal error has occurred; WIN32 API error 2 (the system cannot find the file specified) when calling ShellexecuteExW fromAgWorkspace.shellexecute.
Photos are exported, but without the EXIF data??
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom. I have also tried Restoring Win 7 to an earlier build, but with no success. This level of faultfinding is beyond my knowledge I'm afraid.
    Please can anyone help.

    Dear Victoria
BRILLLIANT!    My problem solved, and so simple.
I guess there must be a bug in the Lightroom Export Dialogue code.
    Many thanks for that.

I have the same problem. Any solutions?

  • Lightroom 5.2 will no longer open

A few days ago my Lightroom 5.2 stopped working.  When I click on the icon it starts to open, displays the name of the catalog and even some of the data (I can see the task bar on the left side which displays the number of photos in the catalog) but it never fully launches.  I do not get any error message but when I try to close the program I get the standard Windows error message of "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit is not responding".  If I click on the "show problem details button" I get the following details:

I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the software but it did not fix the issue.  Also, the same problem happens even if I try to open a catalog directly (as opposed to just clicking on the Lightroom desktop icon).
Any ideas / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If that .lock file was there, it tells me that Lightroom did not shut down properly the last time it was used.  Did it crash before?  I'm afraid my ideas are running out at this point.  It's strange that you can't even get Lightroom to open a different catalog.  I'm not completely sure, but there could be a registry entry for Lightroom where you could remove recently opened files or something like that.

  • Having started using Nikon 810, photos open in Lightroom 5 but when I go Edit In Photoshop CS5, it opens but no picture appears. Help.

I've been told it can be done but I can't figure out what is wrong. I can't get files into Photoshop from Lightroom. Do I need to change the Export and if so how?

Choose the option to "Render with Lightroom" as it sounds like your version of PS has an ACR Plug in that is not the current one of ACR8.6. Or update PS to the latest.

  • Multiple Edits in Photoshop not saving into Lightroom?

In Lightroom 3 I was able to edit in Photoshop, save the file, then make another edit in photoshop and save it under a different name, and that file would also show up in Lightroom.
    For example;
in Lightroom I select "Image 1" and select edit in photoshop,
I edit this in photoshop and save.
    Lightroom shows "Image 1-edit"
I make another edit and select "Save As" and save it as "Image 1 Alternate".
"Image 1 Alternate" shows up in Lightroom next to "Image 1-edit"
This does not appear to be happening with Lightroom 4. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?
    Thanks for your replies

Additional "save as" edits are saved into Lightroom 3. It does not "break the link".
I'm assuming here that you are using Photoshop CS5.x and the current version of Camera Raw? If so, this is as expected...LR4 is using a pipeline that will match up to ACR 7 when it's released.
As it is now, LR4 must actually do the processing prior tp sending it to Photoshop. LR4 also has to save the file on disk prior to sending it to Photoshop.
If you were using ACR 7 in CS6 then ACR would actually be doing the processing and the behavior of this way of opening in Photoshop does NOT have to save the file prior to sending it to Photoshop. When ACR does the opening, you can do a Save or a Save As and Lightroom will know about those saves. Pretty LR4 doesn't know where the Save As file goes to and that's why it isn't showing up.
The two basic behaviors; LR synced with ACR and LR not synced with ACR goes back to version 2 (I think). It's a limitation in LR when LR and ACR aren't in sync.

  • Lightroom 5.6 Error: The file could not be edited because Photoshop CC could not be launched...

I upgraded to lightroom 5.6 recently and i am using photoshop cs 6.
My OS is windows 8 on i5 4670 with R280X gfx card 16gb ram
After editing a photo with lightroom , when I right click to edit in photoshop, immediately photoshop launch but the image isnt imported to photoshop.
After like 30sec  an error message pop out saying "The file could not be edited because Photoshop CC could not be launched".
After another 10sec then the photo appear in photoshop... this is getting irritating to me.
if i select to just open the original or a copy of the original it works fine. It only happens when I try to open it with lightroom changes.
I had uninstall/reinstall both photoshop and lightroom as well as remove all the plugins i had, but the problem doesnt go away.
Another issue with lightroom 5.6 is the the adjustment brush is slow and sluggish, it is so unusable when I zoom in to use the adjustment brush.
I didnt had that issue before i upgraded. OMG
anyone have solution to my problem ?

I upgraded to the latest version of ps cc 2014 , problem resolved.

  • Edit in Photoshop CS6 Crashes Photoshop

    Hey!
Using Lightroom 4.4 on a Macbook Pro with 10.8.2 installed. Every time I chose a photo (or photos) from Lightroom and select any of the "Edit in Photoshop CS6" options, it will open Photoshop, temporarily open the images, and then crash Photoshop completely.
    Any suggestions?

I am baffled. I have uninstalled all the Adobe products on my computer/reinstalled, set up a new catalog in Lightroom, tried having them both open at the same time prior to selecting edit in Photoshop, but it still happens every time.
I did find out that selecting "Open as Smart Object in Photoshop" does not crash it though, which I thought was strange.
    Any input?

  • How can I get "Edit in Photoshop" to work properly again?

    Hi all,
I purchased and upgraded to Lightroom 4.0. Got things to work fine with some ACR updates for Photoshop CS3 that I'm currently using. Now have ACR 4.6 installed (the latest for my version of PS) as well as ACR 6.7.
I was able to make edits to the DNG RAW files in Lightroom 4.0 and then choose Edit in Photoshop (Command-E) and see those changes in a PSD file in Photoshop, where I could make further changes.
All of a sudden, I went to edit a photo in Photoshop and saw the original DNG file with no Lightroom edits. Some tinkering and update to Lightroom 4.1 but nothing can seem to make it show those Lightroom edits now when I go to Photoshop.
How did this break? How do I fix it?
    Mac OSX 10.7.3
    Photoshop Lightroom 4.1
    Photoshop CS3 Extended 10.0.1

My Lightroom 4 was doing a fine job rendering my changes to the RAW file as a PSD on the way into PS, especially after I downloaded Adobe Camera Raw 4.6 for Photoshop CS3. Then it just stopped, with no warning. To try to fix this problem, I downloaded ACR 6.7 and also LR4.1, but it's still just opening the DNG file when I run Command-E to edit in Photoshop CS3.
When I use Adobe Bridge CS3 to see the changes I've made in LR4.1 (especially after saving the metadata to the file with Command-S), it shows the updated changes but when I then open in Camera Raw or Photoshop, they're gone.
Thoughts? I'm worried because Command-E in LR4.1 just opens the DNG without modified changes instead of the PSD file as was customary.

  • Non destructive crop preserved when you "Edit in Photoshop"

I hope that there would be an option in the future to crop an image in lightroom, then when you open to "edit in photoshop" the image would be cropped using photoshop new non destructive crop. So that i can tweak color and retouch the whole image then close and i can do final cropping back in LR.

Sometimes, people crop pictures in LR before making many adjustments just to see if the image works, then go on to the next image etc... then batch export to psd or even edit in PS one by one to retouch. Its painstaking to make a virtual copy, reset the crop, export/edit in psd, then copy the original crop from the master raw, then paste it to the psd file. Another way, adobe can make this work is to have an option to have "Edit in Photoshop" command to not apply the crop from LR. Open the full image, then when it imports it back to LR have LR apply the non destructive crop.
