Lightroom 4 Bug: can only see photos in Library mode, not develop mode

This may be related to other imported catalog bugs, but does not seem to be quite the same. In Lightroom 4, with an upgraded Lightroom 3 catalog:
1. Select a photo in Library mode.
2. Click on Develop to go to Develop mode
Screen shows "No photo selected". I cannot edit photos in Develop mode.
I can see and edit photos that are found in smart collections, but not photos that are simply in my collections from 2012, 2011, etc. folders

This happened to me, too, after importing a couple older LR3 catalogs (upgrading/consolidating). I could see the photo in Library module but when I pressed "D" (single photo selected) I was getting the "no photo selected" error message--for every photo I tried. I wasn't able to open any photos at all in the develop module. (These were photos that were fine before installing LR4 and upgrading.) Photos were from imported LR3 and LR4 Beta catalogs.
I restarted and everything seems ok--for now!
So if you come across this thread with this same issue, restart and see if that helps. (Before restarting LR I optimized as suggested above, which did nothing for the "no photo selected" issue. And this isn't related to the parent folder issue, I left my photos in the same place and didn't have more than 3k photos in any of the parent folders. I read in other threads that people had the issue again after importing other catalogs. I'm about to do that so I'll report back.

TS4062 I can't see videos I have taken on my ipad either in iCloud or when I sync my ipad to my macbookpro (both are up to date) I can only see photos? The videos are only few seconds long?

I can't see videos i have taken on my ipad in the iCloud all synced as i can see the still photos i have taken but not the videos. The videos are only a few seconds long. I have also tried syncing via USB cable from iPad to my Macbookpro and it wont sync either the photos or the videos in iTunes I have re checked the sync set up in itunes bt still nothing?
Any ideas would be appreciated

What you've outlined in this part of the post is all that icloud stores for you outside of the backup. If you want to restore from the icloud backup you will then have for all practical purposes a carbon restoration back to your device if you restore from the icloud backup.

Have both computers running and have iTunes open on both computers.
Now, in the iTunes on the computer you want to transfer music to, select the library that you want to transfer music from, as per the following screenshot:
Once the other library loads, go down to the bottom of the screen and in "Show:" select "Items not in my library":
If you want to import all of the songs you can now see, head up to the iTunes menu bar and go "Edit > Select all". Then head down to the bottom of the screen again and click the "Import" button in the bottom-right-hand corner.
If there's a lot of stuff in your original laptop's library, the transfer may take some time.

make a temporary backup of the library and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the option to rebuild the photos' small thumbnails .

Can't see photos in library

Yesterday my computer offered me an update to iPhoto and said that the thumbnails needed to be upgraded (or something along those lines). I clicked yes, and then I think foolishly, imported some more photos whilst this was occuring (I assume. I didnt see any signs of anything happening).
Anyway, the new 192 photos downloaded fine and are showing in iPhoto however the other 5,000 old ones are not! My photos are saved on an external hard drive cos they were filling up the Mac and when I go to mount the library into iPhoto I can see everything but it just doesnt appear in iPhoto when I click on it.
I don't really know where to go from here - have searched various troubleshooting pages but can't find anything specific. I have version 6.0.6 if that helps at all...

Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

HT4044 Part of my iPad(1st gen) screen display does not show,hence I can only see it partially.It was not dropped and neither is it broken. Any help as I was told it cant be fixed and i hv 2 replace with a new unit i.e. pay in full as warranty is over? HE

Part of my iPad screen display does not show. It was not dropped and neither is the screen broken. I was advised to see the local service provider for a diagnosis.
I had finally managed to find time to find a local service provider last week (not easy) and was disappointed to be advised of Apple's policy of one for one exchange i.e. they wont repair and said that i would have to replace with a whole unit. As my unit is no longer under warranty, it meant that I had to pay for the full price of a new unit!
I might as well have paid for the latest new unit but since my unit is only 2 years old at most, it would be a great waste of money.
How can this be? Does this mean apple's product is inferior and do not last since warranty is only for one year?
I sincerely hope there is a favourable solution otherwse my money is flushed down the drain.
HELP!!!

I was using my iPad last night, shut the power off and when I turned it on this morning 2/3 of the screen is not working. It looks like the pandalela picture. What is the answer to fix this; is this a screen issue or and electronics issues. Has anybody else experienced this?

When I try to activate my iMessages on my MacBookAir I can only see my email address and not my phone number?

When I open my email app on my iPhone, I see a message that tells me it couldn't connect to the Server, but I can send and receive emails with out any trouble.

When using mini port with HDMI adapter, can only see front page (stars) will not display whats on screen??

Using a HDMI adapter on mini port the only picture on TV is the front Mac page (stars) and not whats on the Mac screen.

If you haven’t already, you can try resolving the issue with not being able to send iMessages that contain portrait photos by restoring your iPhone to factory settings as shown in this article:

Xp box can only see 1 mac on wireless...

I hope im in the right section....?
My set up:
1 MacBook Pro (my work laptop)
1 iMac 24 (shared printer, iTunes lib)
1 PC with XP (partners work laptop)
All connected via wireless
My iMac has a printer connected and contains the shared iTunes library. The house is fully wireless all of the machines can all see each other, however.
The XP PC can only see the iTunes library and able to print (via) bonjour when using ethernet into the wireless router. When I disconnect the PC from the ethernet and go wireless it can see the shared library in iTunes but I get a message about firewalls on each side being on or off and the printer won't print although it is seen when setting up the printer in Bonjour for Windows.
The XP PC can however see and play the iTunes library on my MacBook without a problem on both wireless and wired. But only on when wired does XP PC see the iMac24 and works ok.
Can anyone help...? Is the problem with the iMac24 or the wireless router..? I'm confused

it's the combination wireless+windows XP XP has trouble using it often my computers are connected to a WAN but via a LAN and then I can make a connection with the WAN via a Vista PC directly doesn't work

Lightroom 6 Develope Module will not load files, can't see photos.

Lightroom Develop Module will not show files. I can see photos in library, film strip. I'm fully paid member of adobe cloud and registered. I've signed out and in again but this did not resolve the issue. The problem happened after moving from lightroom 5.7 to 6. All worked OK in 5.7, using canon 5D mark 2 CR2 files version 2.2. I have photoshop 2015 CC and when I go to camera raw ( version 9 ) The photos do not show here as well. Both are blue boxes with an X across the page just like in the Develop Module in Lightroom 6. Again files could be seen in ACR photoshop 2014. As am using the latest updates of lightroom and photoshop creative Cloud, not sure why I can't see files in the develop module in lightroom and in camera raw in photoshop ?

I'm no expert on GPUs and graphics cards, so I suggest you read this thread:

My impression. though, is that most people don't experience a huge speed improvement using the GPU, myself included.
But this will probably change in future versions, at the moment only certain functions in the Develop module use the GPU.
As for differences in GPU support between Photosop and LR, I assume that PS supports older and less powerful GPUs than Lightroom does.
Edit: But the bottom line is that LR doesn't support GPU acceleration with you graphics card, so leave it off.

HELP, please! My photos have disappeared from iPhoto library & I can only see them on the screensaver.

Firstly, I should say we haven't updated/installed/deleted anything. I just opened iPhoto yesterday and first it told me it couldn't open up without specifying a library, but then it seemed our library has just disappeared. I then created a new library as, I have to admit, me & my DH are complete tecno dummies, but that didn't help much. The only thing which we have done in the past couple of days is set up the screensaver to play our photos. So now we can only see the photos on that - I'm presuming that means they haven't been completely lost (?) but am in a panic as we've got no back-up (three years worth of photos!).
When I go on 'system preferences' (hope that's the correct translation, our computer's using Italian) and the screensaver, I can see 'picture folder' where all the photos are but I can't find that anywhere else on the computer.
Also, I read other threads about similar probs & tried launching iPhoto pressing down 'option & control' but that didn't help me out either.
We also spent half an hour on the phone to the Apple helpline here in Italy (yes, that's a charged call) to try and understand what's gone wrong and the advisor just kept telling us she didn't know how to help us out 'cause our Mac is an old model
Apologies in advance for my complete ignorance about how to solve this problem but I'd be really grateful if someone out there could shed some light on what's happened.

when you say to go to my Pictures Folder, do you mean to go on Finder, then Pictures, then look at the iPhoto library?
Yes. Is there more than one there?
The material in your screensaver are cached images. They cannot be recovered and soon they will go way.
If you have deleted your Library (and it sounds like you have done this, accidentally) the you have deleted your Photos and you need to restore from your back up.

Never heard of that before. Events and Photos are exactly the same thing, just presented in a different way.
What version of iPhoto? Can you give us a full description of what you see in the Events section?

I can only see one photo at a time

I use to be able to see a thumbnail of all my photos. Now for some reason I can only see one photo at at a time. I have to use the scroll bar to go up and down. It is so frustrating. Please help.

In the lower right corner of the iPhoto window is a slider. Move it to the left. Does that work?
