Lightroom 4 conversion to LR 6-what will happen to my presets and pics in LR4..??

Hi, I currently have Lightroom 4 installed on my Mac and several catalogs of photos within that. I'm about to purchase and install Lightroom 6, but am not sure how that will affect my Lightroom 4 and all of the pics within it...

Lightroom 6 will find your catalog that you have been using and will prompt you to create an updated copy of it. It is the updated copy of that Lightroom 6 will open, and all of your work will still be in place. Remember, your photos are not "in" the catalog. They are simply stored in folders wherever you imported them.

• What will happen to my songs and video if I.....

I have my Ipod loaded with music and videos, but my PC hard drive just crashed. What will happen to the content on my IPod if I load Itunes on a new computer and connect my IPod to it. Someone told me that it will reint the IPod and I will lose all my stuff.

Yes, there is a very real risk of you losing the contents of your iPod.
You should go about recovering that content to your computer first.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

• What will happen after disabling iCloud and connecting my iPhone to my iMac?

Now that I disabled iCloud on my iPhone, indeed the data is still available on my iPhone.
But now I tried to disable iCloud on my iMac, the data is lost.
Is it safe to connect my iPhone to my iMac and will my data (from my iPhone) be restored on my iMac? Or will I los all data?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

The other 2 applications open like normal. All three give me info.
Pages ver.4.1 265.8MB
Numbers ver. 2.1 89.5MB
Keynote ver. 5.1.1 238.1MB
They all list Apr 3 as the last time opened. That was when I upgraded to Mavericks. I certainly used pages and numbers since then as I have alot of my work files on this computer?
Just very odd. I did find my original iWorks disc from when I bought the computer. I'm assuming i can reinstall it. Will try that. Thank you for all your help. Would still like to know what did happen?

• What will happen to my ipad and apple phone if I reset daughters ipad mini to factory settings, we are getting each others messages and mail

Hi I have my laptop, ipad and apple 4 phone. Youngest daughter has ipad mini which I connected to my laptop to download free games, music and photos, now the ipadmini thinks its me and we are getting each others messages etc. If I reset the ipadmini to factory settings, will this delete and/of effect my Ipad, Apple phone, I don't want everything DELETED on my devices. HELP
Thanks

Yes it would be her device you remove your account from, but she would need an email address to have an Apple ID.
I guess if it's only messages that you want her to use, you could create an iCloud email address alias and let her use that for messaging.
First you'd need to create an alias for your iCloud address, you can do this at iCloud.com > mail, click on the gear icon in the bottom left corner and select preferences, then choose the accounts tab. The alias could be her name.
After creating an alias you will need to add it to her device as an ID for messages, go to settings > messages > send & receive > Add another email.
While you are there make sure she only sends and receives messages from that address, you also need to ensure the same settings on your devices use anything but that address.

• HT5192 If I update my iPod's software, what will happen to my pictures and apps?!

I like to know what happens to my apps if I update my software???

If you update via wifi (Settings>General>Software Update (available with iOS 5 only)) noting is lost unless something bad happens.
- If you update via USB/iTunes, all the synced media have to be in the iTunes library since the backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music.

• What will happen if I uninstall and reinstall

this "ghostlike appearance affects all open programs/email/other browsers until I close firefox

hello RickMoran, reinstalling firefox probably won't help in your situation - the description seems to suggest that something is wrong with hardware acceleration in firefox.
please try [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|updating your graphics driver]], this should be the right link for your configuration: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23639&lang=eng
or in case this doesn't solve the issue disable hardware acceleration in ''firefox > options > advanced > general'' (see screenshot).
another thing that might need you attention: you have the wajam extension present which might be considered malicious. i'd recommend to run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] to make sure there isn't adware active in other places of your system as well.

• What will Happen in R3 side while Replicating Datasource

Hi Friends,
what will happen in R3 side and BW side while replicating datasource in BW side
Thanks & Regards,
Gowri

Hi Gowri,
Replication needs to be done only when you change the extract structure which in turn would change your datasource. The simplest way to know when replication needs to be done is each time you save you datasource in R/3. This causes the timestamp of the datasource to be changed and hence the timestamp of the datasource in R/3 and BW are not in sync. Replication would make the timestamp in sync in both R/3 and BW.
Hence you would notice the error "Timestamp error" when you do not replicate the datasource after changing it.

• Who should open a new account? What will happen to older purchases?

My wife has been using my Apple account for a few years. I also have an iCloud account and used iTunes Match. Now I have my own iPad, and need to "cut off" my family from access to my Apple email, iCloud documents, etc. Who should start a new account - me or my wife? What will happen to our purchases, and what devices will be able to play them?

Hi claybrowne,
iTunes purchases are linked to the Apple ID they are purchased under, so you should keep your account.
There is the option for your wife and family to continue to use your Apple ID for purchases only but have their own Apple IDs for iCloud, but I'm not sure how to stop them from using your Apple ID for other things other than telling them "this is for purchases only, use your own account for everything else."
See "Apple IDs and iCloud", the section "Using one Apple ID for iCloud and a different Apple ID for Store Purchases". They can have their own email and Apple ID for FaceTime, Messages, iCloud, etc.

• What will happen to my iTunes account if I restore my computer to its original factory settings?

I want to restore my computer to its original factory settings but I used this computer to setup my iTunes account and have purchased/downloaded music from the iTunes store. When I reset my computer what will happen to my account and the music I've purchased, will it be gone? I have an iPod shuffle that my music is synced to.

Backup the entire library with this User Tip. The same tool can be used to back up other personal data.
Deauthorize the computer in iTunes before restoring to factory settings.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Install iTunes.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.

• Testing Lightroom 5 - What will happen with my Lightroom 3 catalogue??

I am currently working with Lightroom 3. What will happen with my catalogue file(s) if I start the test of Lightroom 5? Is it possible to switch bak to Lightroom 3 after testing without restore of the "old" Lightroom 3 catalogue?

In short, Yes.
When you install and launch LR5 it will find your catalog(s) and when it tries to open them it will promt you to approve conversion from 3 to 5.
This will duplicate your catalog (not the assets) and leave your version 3 catalogs untouched.
If you want to return to a version 3 catalog for some reason then you will simply open it with LR3 which will remain on your machine.
Note that the newer features will not be available or readable by the version 3 catalogs. So if you make changes to a raw file using new tools those changes will not show when viewing the file in LR3 catalogs.
To properly "test" LR5 for your purposes I recommend you catalog new files and not the existing ones you have until you are comfortable with LR5. When you are comfortable, then upgrade your current catalogs.

• I have an old imac 27' with OS 10.7. What will happen with lightroom 6 ?

I have an old imac 27 ' with mac os 10.7.
I try creative cloud and lightroom 5. It works perfectly... But what will happen with lightroom 6 ?

It's pretty simple. Lightroom 6 will not run on OS 10.7. See http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2015/01/update-on-os-support-for-next-version-of-l ightroom.html
You will need to either stay with Lightroom 5, or upgrade your operating system.

What about the notification looks like it will switch over to the creative cloud? I'd avoid it until you get a good answer to your question.

• If a new apple id sign in.what will happen to the old apple id if you erase or reset the phone?

I buy a new iphone 5s and the store open it and put his apple id to download some stuff.. And after that i try to make my own apple id. What will happen if i erase all data and it is in need of apple id.. Will it be the old apple id or my apple id?? I heard that if i erase all data. The apple id of which i buy my iphone will appear and mine will not??

If the store setup the phone with an Apple ID/Password, that is not yours, & turned on Find My Phone, then you will need that Apple ID/Password to re-activate the phone. Called Activation Lock. Read here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13695
So, go back to the store where you got this phone & have them fix things.

• I'm worried about what will happen if I delete my recent backup data from the phone I still own? Will I lose any progress in games that was saved in the backup?

I'm worried about what will happen if I delete my recent backup data from the phone I still own? Will I lose any progress in games that was saved in the backup?
I have an iPhone 4S and I keep getting those irritating notifications that tell me I need to upgrade my storage or free up space. I've deleted all I can from my music and photos without losing too many precious memories, but it's come to the point where I think I need to delete backups. However, I'm just worried that I will lose all and any log-in information that I don't remember and app/game progress that was saved to the iCloud. Please Tell me what will happen/what I can do?

If you are asking what happens when you delete an iCloud backup, it only deletes the backup from your account. It won't do anything to the data on your phone or in your iCloud account. If you don't need to backup you can delete it. (If you no longer want to back up your phone to iCloud, turn iCloud backup off in Settings>iCloud>Backup. Then your phone will back up to your computer each time you sync it with iTunes.)
