Lightroom 4 issues

I have installed the upgrade of lightroom 4 and windows 7 will not open it stating there are compatibility issues. What do I do?

Did you have 3.x before? Is 3.x still working?
Did you run the installer as administrator?
Does LR 4 not even open or when does the error occur exactly?

Is there a phone number I can call to talk to a live person about help with Lightroom issues ?

well the reason I wanted to talk to someone live because it would take forever to explain everything on here But anyway, here goes. I have an HP Pavilion Notebook with Intel Core i5-323om CPU @2.60 GHz and 8 gb ram 64bit. I am trying to run Lightroom 5.7 on my laptop and having major issues. I use an external hard drive for the storage of my photos. When I try to use Lightroom I run into many issues: Flickering of the screen, freezing up, slow, the loading circle just goes round and round lol. If I go to the washroom or leave the computer for even a minute it freezes up. I have to keep pressing Ctr/alt/delete to bring it back when it flickers. I have to constantly exit out of the program and restart it to be able to edit even just a couple of photos and then it starts acting up again.
I have tried un-installing and re-installing, updating everything on my pc, changing compatibility settings, updating development settings, I even took the laptop into have it looked at and they did all kinds of updates etc...and still couldn't figure out why it wasn't working for me. I have gone through the lists of troubleshooting for LR problems and there just seem to be nothing that works.....I have made new catalogues, moved them, tried using the software on my pc without the EHD, etc etc.......I have tried EVERYTHING...I think.....so I was looking for some answers as to why this is happening....

  • Is it possible for one camera to work and one not in lightroom and be a lightroom issue? Nikon says

My son and I purchased Nikon D7100s.  Mine works fine.  He was having trouble getting his raw files into lightroom 4.4.  He came over to my house and used my computer still having the same issues.  He can read the raw fine in ViewNX2 but not in his lightroom, my lightroom or elements 11.  Nikon says it is an issue with Adobe...Is this possible?  He is probably going to return the camera...

    Strange coincidence:
Earlier this evening I was on the Exiftool homepage to download a new version. And I noticed a repair tool I had never seen before and have no use for since I don't own a Nikon camera. And then I came here and saw your thread...
You may want to try the tool here:
    http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/fix_corrupted_nef.html
Phil Harvey only writes that it repairs file from D4, D600, D800, D800E and D3200. But it is worth trying anyway, I think. If it doesn't work, contact him. He often implements changes very fast.
Your son may also want to consider if he should continue using Nikon software to download the photos from the camera. This excerpt from the above mentioned link doesn't sound very reassuring:
[Note that Nikon doesn't learn from their mistakes, and a similar problem happened 2 years ago with an older version of Nikon Transfer and the D5000 -- read here. The moral is: Don't use Nikon Transfer or any other utility that modifies the file to download your precious images!]

  • PS Elements/Lightroom issues

Hi, Could anyone help me with an issue using Lightroom and PS Elements. When I move from Lightroom to edit in PS Elements, I loose my saved image. It does not show back in Lightroom as everyone tells me it should. I have tho save it somewhere else. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks Barry from MM

You need to start the round trip from LR as follows and use the save command (Ctrl+S) not save as:
    1) Ctrl+E in the Library to export selected image with develop settings (I choose PSD) or right-click and choose Open In PSE
    2) Edit in PSE; then Ctrl+S to replace (overwrite) Lightroom export copy
    3) Ctrl+W to close in PSE and update Lightroom thumbnail.
    On Mac OSX Cmd+E; Cmd+S; Cmd+W
The important point is to overwrite the LR export copy by using File >> Save (Ctlr+S) because if you use “Save As” you create a new document which LR knows nothing about.

  • ACR 4.1 Issue - Lightroom Issue with Nikon D40x Raw Files

I am running Windows Vista and CS3 and am trying to process Nikon D40x raw files (NEFs) using ACR 4.1. The images come up properly in Bridge. However, when I try to add metadata using a metadata template, I get the error: "There was an error writing metadata to DSC_130.NEF." When I try to rotate an image in Bridge, I get the same error. If I try to do a Batch Rename, the name does not change. If I double-click on the image, it opens properly in ACR and the image can be rotated in ACR, and it then appears rotated in Bridge.
I also tried importing the D40x images in Lightroom. The following error appeared: "Problem Importing Files. The following files were not imported. The files appear to be unsupported or damaged."

    Jeff,
    I installed camera raw.8bi (size is 10,187kb)in
    c:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
I'm beginning to think this is a Windows Vista issue. I just installed ACR 4.1 on my XP laptop and it works fine. For both the Vista machine and the laptop, my raw files are on an external drive. If I move the raw files on the Vista machine from the external drive to the c: drive, there is no problem. I'm exploring whether there is some permissions issue in Vista that is not allowing me to write to the raw files if they are on an external drive. Ain't new operating systems just great fun!
    Thanks!

  • Adobe Lightroom Issues

Has anyone had any issues running Adobe Lightroom v1.2 in Leopard? Most notably not allowing you to get into the print module.

Yeah, the Print module doesn't work at all for me. (v1.2)
There's the odd graphical glitch here and there, mostly in the History panel in the Develop module, but everything else seems OK.

  • Two Lightroom issues: Slow file update from CS3 and jitters

After my recent update to latest version of Lightroom I am noticing two issues. When photos are selected in the film strip for editing the image jitters while it is rendering.
After taking a photo into CS3 for editing, saving the file and returning to Lightroom, the duplicate thumbnail appears in the film strip but it does not update to showing the edits and new psd file extension. I often have to close Lightroom and reopen it to show the update. This has never occurred in the past. I always immediately see the duplicate file with revisions and the new file extension.
    Your help is appreciated.

Thank you for your fast response ! I have a 2 TB Time Capsule as well. Maybe I will be moving the images to the Time Capsule and give it a try creating
a new catalogue from that. All kind of files worked very well on all Mac OS X and still do except images. So it doesn't seem to be a Mac OS X / NAS thing
generally. Looks more that LR 5 doesn't like the NAS especially when we take into consideration that the files work perfectly on my MacBook AIR that has
access to the NAS, too but without LR 5.

    Bernd

  • Lightroom Issues! An error occurred when attempting to change modules.

Hello, I am having issues with Opening Lightroom and everytime it opens this is the error I get. I downloaded PS and other photo software and they work. I have installed all versions 4.2 4.3 4.4 and even tried the new LR5 beta. All get the same error. Someone said it could be a permissions issue, tried that and fixed and verified my permissions. Still... Nothing works. I even thought it could be my host files. Because someone on a forum said that fixed the issue for him. That doesn't seam to be it either.
I'm a real sitting duck here. Need some help soon!

I called Adobe and let them fiddle online with Lightroom on my MacBook Pro. The Adobe tech claims I have a corrupt permissions file. He told me to contact Apple and have them rebuild my permissions file.
When I contacted Apple, the tech said to startup my MackBook Pro with the option key held down until the first screen appears. Then click on: Recovery HD, arrow, Language, Disk Utility, Macintosh HD, Repair Disk Permissions.
I did this three times, but some permissions were not repaired. Another Apple tech then suggested I bring my MackBook Pro to a Macintosh authorized repair shop, and have them repair my permissions file. I asked if I can buy Norton Utilities or a similar program and do it myself. The Apple tech said yes, but an authorized repair person will know which permissions to repair and which ones not to touch.
Unless someone on this forum can tell me how to do this repair myself, I’ll get it repaired next week. And, I’ll post the results as soon as I can.

  • Lightroom to Photoshop to Lightroom Issue

I thought that this issue might get resolved by going to LR5, but it still exists.  When I edit a LR photo in Photoshop CS6 on my MacBook Pro using OS 10.8.4, and then save the image, it saves it in the same folder on my Mac, but LR puts it into a new folder at the top of the list, not where it is supposed to be.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled both PS and LR, but that does not fix the problem.  I have also removed the LR preferences and had LR create new preference files.  That does not solve the problem.  I need some help.
    Thanks,
    Henry Schneider

Another thought: I don't know how it works on MacOS, but on Windows, certain folders such as the user's "My Pictures" are implemented in a semi-virtual way. They do employ a physical folder address within the normal filesystem, which can be used directly, but are more usually referred to via a Library method provided by the OS. This does not make any explicit reference to the physical location... in effect, it hides this from the user. The idea is that you can change the physical location that this referencing name is using, and all the various defaults and location info pointing to that, will follow this changed reference automatically.
Lightroom is all about the physical drive + folder path location, though: so in my experience, it is better to only browse the physical folders, and not to get involved with this virtual folder referencing, LR can fail, sometimes, to match those two up properly.
So I do not use the default "My Pictures" for the storage of my LR library, but instead, a manually-defined location - which I know will only ever be referenced by its physical location.
IOW: perhaps LR / PS are getting confused somehow, by the "user" part of your file path?

  • 5D MKII - lightroom issue

Hi, I've just bought a Canon 5D MkII, took some pix, tried to download and having an issue.
Lightroom sees how many raw files there are but doesn't display a perview image, just a blank square. When i click import, i get an error saying the file is unsupported or corrupt.
Im running V 1.4.1 - Camera Raw 4.4.1. Is there a camera raw update that I need? or is it something completely different?
Im running windows xp, with loads of ram. Please help.

The other option is to use the latest DNG converter( v5.2) from Adobe and convert the raw files to dng. Then you can process in Lightroom V 1.4.1.
Retain the original raw files so that you an still make use of the Canon software.

  • Nikon D300 NEF Lightroom Issue

    Hello,
I was on a photo shoot this morning and went to import my NEF's and basic JPG's into Lightroom. For some reason lightroom wont recognize the files. ANy idea why? Photoshop will and so wil ACR but I would like to ad them into my lightroom catalogue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Ben

I just tried using Adobe's latest DNG conversion app and I get the error "There was an access permission error". I have a feeling that my SanDisk 4GB Extreme IV card is the problem but not sure what exactly to do. Can someone look at one of my files and see if they can see the issue or at least see if they can import it to Lightroom.

  • Lightroom Issues Aplenty

    Hello,
I've been using Lightroom on another computer for about a month (an i5 core notebook) and it works amazingly well (with the exception of issues the notebook itself is currently having with the keyboard), but, for some reason on my significantly better spec i7 core desktop, Lightroom is having all sorts of issues - including not displaying all the images on the import / library section. It shows the IDs and where to check them, but won't show the thumbnail images themselves for a significant period of time, if at all. Usually I just have to close out, and start all over again, and it still doesn't work. Then, after I do check ones to import, they don't all finish appearing available to develop until several minutes have passed. Then, when you go back to the import section, it won't show the SD card available for selection anymore - let alone any of the images, at all.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Or, could give me an idea of what I may want to do, to get this program to function basically as it should? Thanks!

Well after a long but very useful call with Apple support it seems its a 16GB CF card compatibility problem - 4GB CF cards work fine - Lightroom auto opens and asks to import etc - but with 16GB cards it is the issues I reported above. Sounds like its low capacity cards until there's an update then - I know there used to be issues with high capacity cards so maybe someone forgot to apply the fix to Lion... please fix it quickly Apple - I can only get 180 RAW files on a 4GB!

  • I have iPad Lightroom issues

I teach Adobe products in a college and have a CC membership. I downloaded and  installed the iPad app version of Lightroom which ran for 30 days as trial version, now I can't use it because trial version time expired and it doesn't recognice my membership. Reinstalling it but didn't help. I will type my membership and password but would not work.
How can I fix this issue?
    Thanks,
    Carlos
    P.S.
All the other iPad apps interact well with their destop counterpart but not Lightroom.

I don't use mobile apps, so am not sure they are included with a regular subscription

Lightroom used to work fine. Several months ago it started to not open. The program would start up but it would never open, after a few minutes it would just say not responding. I have un-installed multiple times and re-installed, still nothing works.

  • LG 29EA93 29 inch Widescreen LED Monitor Lightroom Issue

When I use Lightroom with the LG 29EA93 29 inch Widescreen LED Monitor Lightroom 5 initially looks and works OK but when I try and make changes using develop I get a gray area where the image should be (see below). I have tried other resolutions and that made no difference. Other apps/programs work fine.
I tried my old monitor 1680x1050 and Lightroom 5 functions fine on that one.
    Any suugestions would be appreciated.

Uninstalling the LG software will resolve this problem.

  • EOS 5D Mark III Lightroom Issues

I have a very old Mac Book Pro, running on 2 gigs of memory and the last version of software that this Mac will take.  With that being said, is there any Lightroom program I can use to work my files in RAW from my new 5D Mark III?
I travel a lot, so I'd like to be able to use my Mac on the road to see some of my files.
I have a Windows 8 desktop at home and the newest version of Lightroom and Photoshop CC on it.
But for the life of me, I cannot find a Lightroom version that works with the new Raw files this camera puts out.
Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I haven't used a Mac in a decade or more, but I believe you need Lightroom 4 or 5 to handle 5D III RAW files. Your Mac OS may not be able to handle one of the later versions of LR. You can check the Adobe site for compatibility: which version of LR is needed for 5D III and which version of Mac OS is needed to run that version of LR.
A fairly simple solution would be to shoot RAW + JPEG and only copy the JPEGs to your older computer. Those should be viewable with any version of LR or other s'ware you might have on the computer. You probably wouldn't want to do any serious editing, but at least could check the files. To conserve space, you might set the JPEGs to one of the smaller sizes.
