The download says "insufficient permissions". This is a Vista 64bit computer with Lightroom 4 installed and working perfectly until this stupid upgrade

I believe you are having the same (or similar) problem I am having. Refer my earlier forum question headed "Problems with downloaded executable" to which there has been no response. During the process of unpacking I receive the error message "A problem occurred while extracting some files. Check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder". This is not an installation problem because it happens during the file unpacking process before installation starts.
I had this issue with LR 4.0 and spent hours on the phone with Adobe support. They didn't know what the problem was and could only make suggestions llike turning off your firewall. Eventually after about 4 downloads I got a file that unpacked and then installed. With 4.1 I've made 2 download attempts, both with all things like firewalls, antivirus and screen savers turned off. Result - the same frustating message.
Adobe should be prepared to ship a CD with an intact file to people having these problems. I suggested this last time but all they would do is persist with long, time wasting phone calls.
All was ok with the 3.x version downloads. From 4.0 onwards its gone haywire. I love Lightroom, but I now hate getting updates.
My message to Adobe would be "cut to the chase, and send a file on CD to those who just can't get an uncorrupted file via download."

I actually had started on this before your post but you are right. My luck created some issues but after I got around that it worked. I uninstalled everything in the order it needed to. While I was doing this windows had an update. When I restarted something must have went wrong with the update and it crashed on the start up. took me a while to restore it but when I was done it brought back the programs in their damaged state.
So I did the uninstall process again. restarted. and reinstalled and it all works now.

For those reading this the order to uninstall goes as:
iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, Apple Application Support, iCloud, and finally MobileMe. Skip over any you don't have installed. Then Restart then reinstall itunes.

Attempting to download Lightroom 4 update (Lightroom_4_LS11_win_4_1.exe)

While attempting to download teh update above, when download gets to 99% and 1 sec remaining message pops up saying Lightroom_4_LS11_win_4_1.exe couldn't be downloaded. I am using Internet Explorer 9, Windows 7 Home Premium, on an HP with AMD Phenom II X4 830 Processor 2.80 Ghz, 8 gb ram, more than 900 gb free on C Drive, 64 bit system. Any idea what is going on? Have tried to download the update 4 times...same result.

It is hard to say. Are you letting an Adobe application download the application for you or are you doing it manually?

What does firefox.exe-application error mean? Firefox wont even open it just says this, and then click okay to terminate the problem.

When I go to open up Firefox, it does not open no matter what I try It just pops up this box that says Firefox.exe - application error.

Click on OK to termintate the program
What does this mean? And why cant I use Firefox. I can still use internet explorer just fine.

Blue Screen of Death - Smax4pnp.exe app error

When I boot my T61 I get the "Smax4pnp.exe app error" and then later get the BSOD with Invalid_work_Queue_Item or no character string like the previous.
I ran MS Security Essentials and it found two or three Trojans & removed them.
Any idea what is causing this? Is my sound card dead?

A couple of things to try:
Run some other malware detector. Malwarebytes (frree) has done a good job for me. There are others.
Go to device manager and uninstall your sound "card". Reboot and let the driver reinstall. If it doesn't (or if the problem persists) download and install the latest driver and sound app.

*FIX?* Adobe Application Manager - Download Error (Creative Cloud)

So I just started the subscription for the Creative Cloud and I downloaded the Adobe Application Manager, which seemed to have installed fine, and when I go into my creative cloud and click download, under for example photoshop, I get Download Error - Contact Customer Support in my AAM (Adobe Application Manager). I have tried many things that people in the forums have suggested from turing off my firewalls, to uninstalled and restarting my computer, I downloaded the most up to date AAM. Any other suggestions? I just got my subscription literally moments ago so I am a little bummed I can't access any of my new software.
I am using a Mac, if that makes any different. Hope someone can help.
Also, when I go to open up the AAM without clicking download for a adobe product the same Download Error pops up.
*So I may have fixed the problem accidentally, I downloaded a trial of photoshop. When I downloaded the photoshop trial it allowed me to use my subscription for my creative cloud. It also had me download the Adobe Download Assistant. I think the Adobe Download Assistant was the thing I was missing, now my AAM seems to let me download the rest of the programs I need. Hope this helps anybody else.*

VB ActiveX User Control fails to install on Windows 8 using IE10 with Code Download Error: (hr = 80070005) Access is denied.

I have a VB VS2008 (.Net 2.0) ‘pure’ .NET based user control which used to be hosted in Internet Explorer.
Because that approach is no longer possible in VS2013 (.Net 4.5) I have converted it to an VB ActiveX user control.
This process involves digitally signing the user control DLL.
Creating a setup project resulting in a setup.exe and MyUserControl.msi.
Digitally signing both those components and then producing a cab file (which again is digitally signed).
IE10 should then be able to install this using an object tag as follows

If I use the setup.exe and MyUserControl.msi directly on the client windows 8 machine before starting IE10 then the control is already installed (shows up in Programs and Features) and it works.
If I don't do this and let IE install the control then it doesn't work.

Examining the temporary internet files location after trying to install using IE10 I can see the following

The problem here was the cab file.
Using ProcessMonitor I found that the following entry was generated at the time of failure

Analysis of the contents of the cab file using PeaZip indicated that it didn't contain setup.exe which confused me for a while as the makecab /f MyUserControlSetup.ddf produced no errors.
The MyUserControlSetup.ddf contained

.Set CabinetNameTemplate=DocEditor.cab
MyUserControlSetup.inf
MyUserControlSetup.msi
setup.exe
Using makecab /f MyUserControlSetup.ddf /v3 I saw that the output was being written to 3 'disk' files but only one was present in explorer after it finished.
So I guessed that the output was for floppy disks and changed MyUserControlSetup.ddf to contain

.Set CabinetNameTemplate=DocEditor.cab

PeaZip now indicated that the cab file contained the 3 files I expected and using that cab in the codebase attribute installed my ActiveX control

I can't open itunes after installation, says"itunes.exe-application error"

first time, I installed ipod and itunes from the cd, it failed. then I downloaded from the website and reinstalled, it didn't work, either. afterward I have tried many times to delete,restart and reinstall, it just didn't work at all>_<
every time i double-click the itunes.exe, it says

ahhhhh ... one of those.
oddly enough, these ones typically respond better to brute force than they do to finesse. rather than uninstalling QuickTime first, try doing a standalone QuickTime 7.1.5 install "over the top" of what you've already got in there:
Quicktime 7.1.5 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention iTunes
if the standalone install goes through okay, does your iTunes start launching properly again?

ITunes download error "Service "Apple Mobile Device Service"

How do I get past the iTunes download error message: "Service "Apple Mobile Device Service" failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privilege to start system services." ?
I have tried ignoring, trying again, and canceling and reloading. I most recently downloaded the exe file, then from the download file right clicked to "run as Administrator" use an HP Pavillion g7 Notebook PC with 64-bit operating system and Windows 7. How can I get past this message?

The section Install missing components may allow you to install Apple Mobile Device Support without removing other components.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Hi I have Firefox Browser 29.0.1 and on Windows XP - and I am the least tech savvy person ever. Every time I close The Browser / Firefox I get a pop-up screen Firefox.exe - Application Error

ITunes.exe - System error / corrupt file

I purchased an iPod nano about a month ago. Since then about every week my entire iPod content is erased while i transfer music to iTunes. All of a sudden it disconnects and says "iTunes.exe - System error / Corrupt file". Each time this happens I need to restore my iPod, which does not help either. I have the latest iTunes version and I downloaded the iPod updater, however none of them make a difference in the situation. I would really like to know whether this can be solved or I need to return the device to the store.

AfterFX.exe - System Error

New to After Effects I tried starting it up today after utilizing the rest of my master collection without problems but I am getting the following error:

Tpscrmsg.exe system error

I have a W510 running Windows 7 64 bit. I have updated all lenovo and microsoft updates. Whenever i connect an external monitor via the vga port I get an error. TpScrMsg.exe - System Error. The program cant start because mfc100.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Hotkey integration package. Searching through Google I have reinstalled/uninstalled the Visual C++ redistributable package to correct the error. I still get the error.
Any ideas?
