I just upgraded to Lightroom 4 on my Macbook Air, on my downloads page of Adobe it shows this
I am just curious as to why it says not applicable.

  • Installing Adobe Photoshop Lightroom on Macbook Air without the CD-room

I have recieved Adobe Photoshop Lightroom when I purchased my last camera, but the issue is that it is on a CD and I have a Macbook Air which does not have a CD-room.
Are there any other ways of installing this on my computer without having to buy the CD-room-attachment from Apple? Is it possible to insert some sort of code, as with the Works-package for instance?

  • Lightroom and MacBook Air

Don't know if this can be answered yet, since the new MacBook Air is only just shipping, but does anyone know how these Macs would operate with Lightroom 3 (3.2 at the moment)?
Currently I use a MacBook Pro, with only 2Mb. 1st issue is that it sometimes "drags it feet" when working on my 20Mb RAW files, but an upgrade to 4Mb might fix that. 2nd issue is that, when travelling, with camera body, 3-4 lenses, external hard drive, etc., the whole package is heavy!
The camera, lenses, external drive, etc., are mandatory, so I need to look at the weight of the laptop, and the new 13-inch Air might be the answer (with 4Mb and the faster processor) for on-the-road editing.
Anyone with any early experience on this new h/w and LR?

    Just a quick note: it's 2GB or 4GB, not Mb: it's 8192 times more
Beside that, looking at published benchmark, it should work fine for import and quick fixes. As RAM on newer MBAs is not replaceable (soldered on logic board), you really should get the 4GB one.

  • I have Lightroom 5 installed on my MacBook Air but when I try to open the program I receive the message "An error occurred when attempting to change modules".  I uninstalled, emptied trash and re-installed but I continue to get the same message.

I have Lightroom 5 installed on my iMac which I downloaded (uploaded?) to my MacBook Air (via wi-fi) but unlike the iMac, I'm unable to use the program on the MacBook Air.  When I open the program on the iMac and click 'file', (as people using the program would know) there are 21 options - import pics, export, etc, etc - however, in the version on the MacBook Air, opening 'file' gives me four options - New Catalogue, Open Catalogue, Page Setup and Printer - and with that comes the pop-up message "An error occurred when attempting to change modules".  Any ideas please?

A forum thread from 3 years ago talking about LR 1.x which had this problem seems to need permissions fixed or new folders created with the corrected permissions.  You might try doing a repair permissions for your user and/or run LR as an administrator user.  I am a PC person so cannot tell you exactly how to do that.

  • Need help exporting from lightroom 4 on my Macbook Air with an external hard drive.

After importing photos to my new Macbook Air (2014) from external drive, it made me reformat my external drive.  After reformatting, I tried to export edited images back to my external drive and it says "photos missing or offline", even when external drive is connected.  How do I get my edited images back onto my reformatted external drive?

Ok, so at least you haven't lost the images.
The catalog knows "about" the images but not where they currently are. You cannot import them again because they have already been cataloged.
If the images are on the external drive in the location you want, the the procedure to re-connect is as follows.
Select one of the thumbnails. It should have an "!" or "?" on it (upper right). Click whichever it is and you will be asked to Locate the file. Navigate to the file to re locate it and make sure the check box "Find nearby images" is checked.
Lightroom will now relink all the images.
    Note:
I usually just import from my external hard drive and then export them back to the external hard drive when I finish editing them.
this is not a "correct" workflow when working with catalogs. The files remain on the external drive. The act of importing is only necessary once to catalog where the files are and to allow quick access to them via the Library. Editing them either in or outside of Lightroom via Photoshop does not require you to move the file.

I have a MacBook Air.  I purchased Adobe Lightroom 5, the program is on a CD.  The MacBook Air does not have a CD slot and therefore no way to down load the program that I can find.  Is there some way to use Lightroom 5 on my computer?

Just download and install 5.7.1. Don't worry about earlier versions.
You'll need to enter your serial number to license the software.

  • Is it possible to access my lightroom catalog on my iMac from my macbook air ?

I was just given a yr old macbook air and want to access my lightroom catalog on my I mac ? possible or do I just use the mobile and set up a share folder ?
thanks in advance for any info

During a call, press the home button (note the green bar at the top of the screen).  Navigate to your Calendar app and open it.
The Calendar app won't be able to update OTA during the call but you should be able to see everything that was there before the call.

  • How to use Lightroom from iMac and Macbook Air so that I can edit any/all photos in my catalog?

I have lightroom catalog setup on my desktop (iMac).  But, I would like to edit photos from my new MacBook Air when I have the free time.  How do I set this up so that any edits done on my laptop sync with my desktop catalog?

    Craig:
In the future you might look into an external FW hard drive from which you can operate the library.  Then, if you need to move it to another machine just unplug the drive and and plug it in to the other Mac.  For the MacBook Air you'd probably want a small (physical size) buss powered drive that would be an easy travel mate.
For future projects, particularly books, consider creating a separate library for it.  You can assemble the photos you want in it in an album in your primary library and use iPhoto Library Manager to copy that album to the project library.  They are often small enough that then can be copied to a flash drive for transfer to other Macs.

  • Lightroom 4 for Macbook Air

I bought the Lightroom 4 without really checking the details. Now that I received the package I realize that it's a CD-ROM disc; I have a Macbook Air, hence no CD-drive. Is there any way to download and enter the serial number? Also, this is my first Lightroom product; did I buy the right product or is this some kind of an upgrade??
    Thanks / Petra

  • Despite it is claimed in Adobe forum that Lightroom is fully compatible with OS Maverics on my MacBook Air IT IS NOT. A message "an error occurred while attempting to change modules" appears and I cannot go any further. Can anyone help?

Despite it is claimed in Adobe forum that Lightroom is fully compatible with OS Maverics on my MacBook Air IT IS NOT. A message "an error occurred while attempting to change modules" appears every time I try to open Lightroom. This happened immediately after upgrading to Mavericks. On my doughter's same machine Lightroom works perfectly. Can anyone help?

Surely the Adobe forums are the place for help with Adobe applications. The fact that the problem doesn't occur on your daughter's machine suggests that it's not an issue with Mavericks but a local problem on your own machine.
