Lightroom 4 Publishing to Facebook

When I attempt to publish to facebook I get the message: Lightroom is unable to create temporary files on the Volume named "Local Disk (C:)? OS is Win 7, 64 bit! 1 Terebyte disk with over 700 gigs free!

Hi...Mine is fixed by right-clicking on the Lightroom icon.  In Properties,
I set the program to run as "administrator", giving it permisisions to

REALLY slow.
Running an application like Lightroom as Administrator is ill-advised because you are now allowing Lightroom and all of its plugins (3rd party or otherwise) to do *anything* to your system, whether you know it or not. The broken exporting and writing to temporary files just started happening recently.  It could be something to do with the latest Windows update, or a bug in Lightroom that Adobe now has to fix because of a change to the OS.
Changing the permissions on the folder where temp files are written is another option (as another poster suggested).
What I did, however, was download Jeffrey Friedl's  "JF Flickr" plugin, which does work correctly (http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/flickr). It is quite robust. It takes a little work to setup all of your Smart Collections again but he clearly puts effort into maintaining it.  It didn't have the "API error" that the built-in plugin has.
Also what annoys me is that Adobe hasn't caught this yet or said anything about it.  The best I could find was this thread.  Native plugins should never be broken, Adobe!

  • Since today I can't publish on Facebook page albums using de Facebook/Lightroom plugin.

It only allows me to publish on my user albumns, but my pages albums don't appear in the menu anymore.
Here, marked in red, should appear "Album existente sin propietario" or "Existing album without author" but it doesn't since today.
Reinstalled lightroom, the plugin, the facebook addon, tried on another computer, it just doesn't work anymore.

I have encountered the same problem you have!  I have been posting to Facebook Pages for a few years now.
I have reported this problem to Facebook using their own problem reporting mechanism.
It would help if everyone who is having this issue should do the same.  Here is the process:
    1. In, Facebook, Click on the pull down on the far upper right of the screen.
    2. Click "Report a Problem"
    3. Click "Something Isn't Working"
    4. Select Pages on the pull down.
    5. Explain the problem.
    6. Upload a screen image. I captured an image of trying to create a new published collection with the pull down showing no Page Albums listed.
Here is my current thread on the Adobe Lightroom discussion forum.  Still no response from either Facebook or Adobe.

  • Can someone please help?  Can't publish to Facebook in LR4.1

When I attempt to "authorize" Lightroom to access my Facebook account I get a "webpage cannot be accessed" and the address "lightroom://com.adobe.lightroom.export.facebook/#access_token="  and a ridiculously long string of jibberish afterward.  Same thing happens with the built in publish service for Flickr.   I am about to pull out what hair I have left because I've been unable to locate an answer to this issue.
Any insight or help from the professional community on this site would be greatly appreciated.

    Victoria,
For Facebook:  I used the following procedure found on another thread on this site dated 15 Mar 2012, The  "Failed to receive the authentication token." will show up as a blue hyperlink right above the "Change Account" button.
I found I was able to complete it only using Microsoft IE on windows using the following method:
    1. Delete Lightroom from the Apps on your account
    2. Re-authorize from Lightroom (make sure Microsoft IE is the default internet browser)
    3. When authorizing IE will go to an invalid URL - just copy all of the URL
    4. When Lightroom notifies "Failed to receive the authentication token." Click on it to bring up "lightroom://..." under the Facebook Authorization URL
5 Replace "lightroom://..." with the URL you copied and it will be authorized
Note it doesn't seem to work with either Firefox or Google Chrome
As for Flickr...Under the "Sharing and Extending" tab in Flickr, Lightroom is not showing up.  Under the LR Publish Services, Plug in Manager, Lightroom indicates I can't save my changes to the Flickr set up because I am not logged in to Flickr, when in fact I am.  Logging out of Flickr and logging back in has no effect on the process as LR still returns the same thing.
I'm baffled, to say the least.

  • Lightroom 4 Publish Services will not connect to Flickr.

I have been trying to set up Flickr in Lightroom 4 Publish Services but get an error message when I press "OK, I'll Authorise it" on the Flickr authorisation page.  The message is "The address wasn't understood.   Firefox dosen't know how to open this address".   Can anyone help?

Unfortunately, there isn't anything we can really do on our side, as the problem here is that the expected behavior is not occuring and the failure is outside of Lightroom itelf.
Here is what is supposed to happen:
    1. Lightroom sends a request to your web browser to open an authentication page that is already built in to the host web site.
    2. You authenticate, which gives permission for your account information to be sent back to Lightroom. This substitutes the need to enter a user name and password. It's a hall pass for Lightroom to send your files to your online account.
    3. With authentication complete, the web page sends a token (similar to a cookie) back to Lightroom, which is then used whenever Lightroom needs to access the web servers to upload a file.
The problem occurs in step three. The token is not being sent to Lightroom. Instead, the web browser is keeping it for some reason and attempting to open it. This shouldn't happen, but Lightroom doesn't have any control over your browser. Some suggestions are to clear your temporary internet files and cookies to see if corruption there is changing the behavior. Also, the Facebook app for Lightroom may have some issues, try deleting this from your Facebook account (within your account settings on the website).

  • Publishing to facebook

I am trying to get the connection set up with facebook and have allowed lightroom to publish there.
Back in lightroom the publishing manager is then telling me it is authorizing and that is were it stays and hangs fore ever.
In my face book app account it tells me that lightroom still requires access to my basic info and still requires access to my photos, but since in lightroom the publishing manager is still trying to authorize my facebook nothing happens. I can't even cancel out of it as lightroom is frozen and that happens every time and I need to forcequit out of lightroom.
    Anybody with any solution please.
    Many thanks

    Try:
    - Logging out of FB in the browser first, so that the OAUTH or whatever it uses forces you to login again. It might automatically log you in anyway, but it is worth a try.
    - Changing your default web browser to some other browser, ideally one you have never used on FB before (so credentials are not cached.) How you do this is platform specific, but is documented everywhere.
    - Install Friedl's FB publish service (http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/facebook), which is minimal donation-ware. It has a little more capability and may be smarter about authentication tokens. You can try it for free, so that costs you nothing.

  • Publish to facebook business page

how do I get my lightroom 4 publish services to link with my facebook Business account instead of my personal account

You can't do it with LR built-in plugin. But you CAN with third party plugin like this one http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/facebook

  • Connecting Lightroom 5.3 to Facebook

Whenever I try to connect Lightroom 5.3 to Facebook, I always get the error message: "Something went wrong. We're working on getting it fixed as soon as we can." when I am authorizing it in Facebook.
Looking through the previous posts it looks like this was either an intermittent Facebook issue or one where a previous account had to be deactivated and reactivated. But it has never worked for me and I've been trying for months to get it to publish. Any ideas on what I can check to find out what settings are off?

I'm experiencing the same thing and cannot figure out how to resolve!

  • LR 3.2 Publish to Facebook - "PAGES"

Like most photographer's I've got a facebook page and then a "photography studio page". The way facebook makes you basicly have a "sub account" for promoting your photo business.
I can configure LR 3.2 to publish to albums in my normal account, but I'd like to publish directly to my "professional page" which is linked to the account. It does not have a seperate login... but when I load it up it does show that Lightroom is authorized to publish to it. However, the albums for the "page" are not available in the lightroom publish to facebook area.
    Any ideas?

My apologies if you have already found this answer, but I didn't see it in the replies for this thread.
Here is an answer to your "pages" issues with the default Facebook plugin.  Check out Jeff Friedl's plugin...

Here is his personal blog, from which he supplies a wealth of information and a variety of plugins for Lightroom (see "Lightroom Goodies")...

I''m setting up my plugins from Jeff as "I speak."
    I hope this helps,

  • I'm having serious problems with Lightroom plug in for Facebook not working on my iMac. Help!

It started about a month ago with LR4. I kept getting problems with not being able to publish to Facebook because of problems with the plug-in which had been working perfectly up to then. I had a run round that worked by disableing and reloading the plug in. I upgraded to LR5 but the problem persisted and in fact just became worse. I can no longer publish to facebook from LR. I deleted the LR app in facebook as someone advised but now I cannot re-authorise with Facebook. When I go to the "connect" buton nothing happens. This is a serious problem that may make me reluctantly abandon Lightroom if I cannot find a solution. Can anybody help?

According to the Lightroom Facebook page, Facebook broke it and Facebook has to fix it- there is no ETA.
You can read several posts here (with Adobe responses as well) https://www.facebook.com/lightroom?fref=ts&filter=2

  • Lightroom 3 publish service: Sending 3 files from one photo

    Hi,
I have created a lightroom 3 publish service that will export each photo as a huge TIFF file over a slow broadband connection to an external server. The external server creates 3 compressed JPEG files from the TIFF file.
I think this is too slow and that it would be much better if the lightroom publish service created those three files and then sent them over the internet. Please note I am using Mac OS X 10.8.5 and Lightroom 3.
My question is, what would be the best way to accomplish this task? Can lightroom compress the photo 3 times, or is it best to create another script on the local machine to accept each file, compress them, and then send them via the internet? What is the most secure and easy way to do this?

Well, I don't see any reason to use an external script, since your Lightroom plugin can do this without it. Since you are controlling the code of the publish service, I recommend just doing this 3 times:
    local session = LrExportSession {
         photosToExport = { ... },
         exportSettings = { ... }.
    session:doExportOnCurrentTask() -- or new task.
    -- upload via FTP...
PS - SDK forum would be better place to ask this question.
    Cheers,
    Rob

  • Cannot publish to Facebook and Keychain Error

I want to publish photos from iPhoto 09 to Facebook but I've got some sort of endless loop error. See the screens at the link or read my description.
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/stanomatic/4113756464/in/set-72157622701757225/
I press the Facebook icon in the lower right and I get the drop down dialog which asks "Do you want to set up iPhoto to publish to Facebook?" I click the Setup button. Then I get the iPhoto Uploader button and I put in my Email and Password. Then I get this "iPhoto wants to use the "loginrenamed2" keychain." Please enter password. So I enter the same password. I didn't make this keychain. I never use keychain and don't understand how it works or anything else about it. Then it takes me back to the original screen, "Do you want to set up iPhoto to publish to Facebook?" So the loop starts all over again.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Keychain is what stores your passwords. Try use Keychain Access to repair them. It's in your Applications / Utilities folder.

  • Photoshop Elements 12:  Unable to publish to Facebook

I just installed PE12 and tried publishing to Facebook.  This worked flawlessly in PE9.  PE asks me to authorize Facebook and I log in and receive a message saying that I am logged in.  I then return to PE and "complete authorization".  I was able to create an Album in Facebook from PE12, but the 9 pictures that appeared to successfully upload do not appear in Facebook.
    Any suggestions?
Using Windows 7 Ultimate and recently upgraded from PE9 to PE12.

Did they copy over your programs and settings to the new disk? You can't do that with PSE (unless you do a total system clone).
If that's the situation, you need to download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
And then go around and manually remove all the bits you can find from applications, hard drive>library>application support>adobe, and your username>library preferences and then reinstall from scratch. Note that spotlight won't help you with this, you have to do it yourself since spotlight is programmed to skip the files you want to find.

  • IPhoto is Not Publishing to Facebook

Is anyone else having this problem? I am trying to upload an album to FB. I have setup my account like it asks. Is says that it is publishing the thumbnails but when I check my FB account, the photos aren't there. I checked the other discussion threads but those solutions posted aren't working for me. I published one other album without a problem and now this. Any suggestions?

Thank you! Thank you! I actually had to change the name of the album I was using as a source. Renaming the album I had already attempted to publish did not work.
    1. Delete the album you originally attempted (and failed) to publish (under the Facebook tab).
    2. Go to the original album/event and rename it avoiding the &, *, or % characters.
    3. Follow the usual steps to publish to Facebook.
    4. Voila!
