Lightroom 4 reinstallation

My hard drive crashed, completely. I was able to back up old pictures and such but no registry entries. I reinstalled LR 4 on the new hard drive (Windows 7). I tried to retrieve the serial needed to register it but, of course, it already has been. There's no option to have it reissued that I can see. How can I register my copy of LR?

I have a similar issue -- I can't find my Lightroom 4 packaging, and there's no password registered in my Adobe account for reasons I can't explain (I have an account that I can log into, and it lists Production Premium CS, CS4 and 5.5, but no Lightroom serial #s despite me having versions 3 and 4) -- and "Call Customer Service" is a joke. First, it's REALLY hard to find a phone number -- I found it in another post. Second, there's no option for Lightroom, and half the options I tried sent me to a "Sorry, THAT product doesn't include phone support. Now I'll lecture you on how the Forums are a GREAT way to get support!"
When I finally found an option that did get me in the queue for a human, it then gave me the option of a call back rather than sitting on hold. They promised a call in 15 minutes. Two hours ago.
Is there another option than fighting with the phone tree? Can you tell me what option I SHOULD be selecting to get a serial #?

  • Lightroom reinstallation on different mac with same serial number.

im using lightroom on my mac air.
and im planning to buy a mac pro soon.
in that case, is it possible to use lightroom on my new mac pro with the same serial numbers that im using now on mac air?
(im not going to use lightroom on mac air)

Adobe allows two installations of Lightroom on different computers with the proviso that only one can be used at any one time. (There is no on-line activation/de-activation process, only your honesty.)
Just install on the new mac pro with the same serial number.
Note: If the Mac Air has an "update" version installed (for example -you upgraded from LR3 to LR5) then you will need both Serial Numbers for LR3 & the LR5-update, to install on the new Mac pro.

  • LIGHTROOM 3.3 REINSTALLATION PROBLEM

Hi, LIGHTROOM 3.3 REINSTALLATION PROBLEM. I had an operating system problem with my pc. A friend took an image of my disc. I have the computer running again now but I dont have any of my Loghtroom edits. I was advised to get a .lrc (or something) file but that only had a copy of the very first backup that I did. I didn't backup using the Lightroom backup that pops up when closing te program. How can I retrieve all my edits, it amounts to many, many hundreds of hours work? I'd be very greatful of some help.

Thanks guys. I cant even find the disc image file so I am going to have to wait till me mate gets back from overseas to do any more.
I still have my image files but I am really worried about the edits. That is a heap of work. and I have sold heaps of images, I'm screwed if I get asked for a second copy, or anything for that matter.
My email address is [email protected] do you mind if I contact you directly? John is not due bak in OZ for a few weeks yet, then he's going to Japan for a couple of months.

  • Uninstall Lightroom and do a clean reinstallation

I want to uninstall Lightroom 5 and then do a clean reinstallation
I have tried uninstall but it leaves previous details I.e catalog and contents

    What is the purpose??
The catalog is independent of the application and contains any work you have done on images.

  • After changing my mac mini 2009 with a mac mini late 2012, and using Time machine for the reinstallation, Lightroom is operational but Photoshop elements is said to have a license no more valid (code error 150:30). I tried all solution I found to no avail

After changing my computer from a mac mini 2009 to a late 2012 version, all reloaded with Time machine, Lightroom works fine but Photoshop elements refuses to start (error code 150:30; "license no more valid"...). No solution found on the internet works. Any advice ? possibility to reload the application (I have kept the number of license etc.) ? Thanks in advance to anyone who could help.

Alain Picard this error often occurs due to incorrect file permissions or corruption of licensing data during the Time Machine restore.  What version of Photoshop Elements were you using?  I would recommend that you remove and reinstall it using the uninstaller located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.

  • Lightroom 6 Freezes: Only Reinstallation Fixes It (Temporarily)

After installation on my Win 7 64 bit machine, Lightroom 6 Standalone repeatedly freezes. It works for a while but if I close the program and then reopen it later on, I get the "not responding" revolving circle. I have deleted the .lock file each time before I tried to launch the program and tried launching from the short cut and from the task bar. I also tried upgrading my LR5 catalog a second time. Nothing has worked. Only re-installation gets it to run again. The second time it crashed was after I closed the program trying to stop facial recognition on my "All Photographs" folder.
Yes, these are the perils of an early adapter. I would have installed the trial, but I didn't realize that the standalone comes with a CC setup file too, so I cancelled the installation and bought a license, only to find out I was installing the same file I had cancelled. My fault, but Adobe has made it easy for an old **** like me to make a mistake.

I'm getting thect same problem as you, kwdaves! It's a tremendously frustrating process. It will work flawlessly for a couple of days and then, 'boom' - it's not happy any more and won't co-operate. I bought the perpetual licence and have upgraded from LR5 on a Win7 64-bit SP1 OS. I, too, am not happy at the subversive strategies that Adobe is employing to cloak the pathway to aquiring a perpetual licence whilst coercing most towards the CC model. I find it dishonest and invasive - almost parroting the Microsoft approach, but all-the-while pretending that it is an entirely acceptable practice. It is only acceptable as long as consumers allow it. Please consider the open approach to licensing and superb product development that I used to respect Adobe for.

  • Lightroom features/bug fixes I would like to see in next version

I love the Adobe Lightroom Application. It is very intiutive and out of the different RAW processing programs I've tried, it is the only one that has most of the features I need and has the least amount of complications. However, I think there are still places to improve upon:
    * Decouple raw processor from the monolithic software executable so that updates to the RAW camera component to add new cameras can be made without requiring huge downloads or reinstallation of a new software program but simply updating a few DLLs and files.
    * Improve performance of the Develop panel. It is extremely slow on my laptop running 32bit Windows 7 and 3GB of RAM with dual core processor (pre-Core duo). 8 to 10 seconds for the "loading" message to disappear per image no matter how often I have loaded or edited the image. No caching is being done at all.
    * On my higher powered Desktop (Quad Core2 processor/4GB RAM,Windows 7), Adobe Lightroom frequently will start behaving strangely after only a few hours of running. It seems like it is leaking resources or something because eventually functionality will start failing. Specifically, right clicking on images will no longer bring up menus for example. If i shutdown and restart the application, the problem goes away.
    * Photoshop-like healing brush. Many times I want to "brush" over areas of image defects but the only choice in Lightroom is the healing tool which always creates a circle and does not allow "brushing".  This only works if the defect is a spot and not an irregular area.
    * Adjustment with Arbitrary Mask tool. Bibble 5 has this nice concept where you can mask out a section of an image and then apply adjustments to it without affecting the rest of the image. You simply draw a mask and then you can apply adjustments to it. The only option in Lightroom is to select the "Mask" option but that leaves the decision of where exactly you want to mask to Lightroom which only uses edge contrast to determine masking area.
    * I'd like a way to tell Lightroom to update the metadata (write out) on all images that are out of sync. Right now the write metadata function will write out metadata to all files whether or not it is required. This means that it is inpractical to try to update your entire catalog as tens of thousands of files will be written to and not just those that are out of sync. This is very important as a way to preserve editing metadata in case of loss of the Lightroom catalog.
    * Option to write import metadata to imported files. For example, I have an import metadata for copyright and keywords and I want the imported JPG or DNG files to permanently have this metadata so that even if individual files are copied my copyright and other metadata are preserved with it.
    * Option to append text labels to automatically generated import destination folder names. So for example, I can still import into date based directories but append a description to help me remember what the folder contains when I'm later browsing it. Right now it is either/or. You can either choose the name of the import folder destination OR you can have the software generate one for you.
    * A google-type search box at the top of the library panel so that ad-hoc searches can be done without having to fool around with the filters. Everybody is used to a single search box for simple textual searches.
    * some way to filter images by whether they have been exported previously or not
    * Please support lens and shooting information for Sony DSLRs in both JPG and RAW files. Also support 3rd party lenses on Sony DSLRs without assigning the wrong Minolta lenses to them. I want to be able to see both Lens name, max aperture, focusing distance (if available) etc...
    * Some way to edit the Shooting lens information to support lenses which are not known to Lightroom, and if suggestion above won't be implemented, some way for the user to edit the lens id --> mapping table so that I can properly map my own 3rd party lenses.
    * Facial recognition/tagging option. Some way to have Lightroom apply people tags after I have tagged representative images. Handle multiple people in a scene.
    * Automatic (batch) export of images on schedule. I would like a way to configure Lightroom to automatically generate particular export configuration of all my images in a catalog (or some defined subset) such that new files or files that have been edited since last export are automatically exported on a schedule even if Lightroom is not running. Perhaps a Lightroom batch service. This is so that I can always  have up to date processed versions  of my images for use in my media center display. I would like to configure the Lightroom batch service to run weekly at say 2am every day, run a particular export function and export all new or modified images to a network share accessible by the media center. That way, I can always have access to cropped and edit images without manually doing exports all the time or having to remember which files I've edited and then export them. Also by doing this at off hours it would not slow down my computer while I'm using it.
    * Better profiles for Sony DSLRs and support for their picture styles the same way that Canon and Nikon camera are supported.
    * Teethering support for Sony DSLRs that have this feature
    * Support for parametric plugins -- Plugins that do not require the image to be exported before running.
    * Simple support for "picture frames" when exporting. Some way to apply a frame to an image as part of export with a dozen or so frames included and a way for 3rd parties to create more.
    * A better way to safely share catalogs or pictures between multiple computers/users in a networked environment.

Did these come to you all at once, or have you been saving them up for a while?
Anyway, Adobe *should* be able to handle long lists of FR, but another option is to break them up and submit them for voting on the new FR/Idea site that will shortly replace this one: (It was really hot for a while, but has cooled down lately...)

They are already decoupled - you can update ACR independently for new camera support, however it's released at about the same frequency as Lightroom itself, so that doesn't help much. Perhaps this should be reworded: "Provide more timely ACR updates..."

I've been complaining about this for a long time - ACR cache is worthless for me too - if dev image not in RAM cache, takes same amount of time to render whether in ACR disk cache or not. Some say ACR cache speeds things up for them - perhaps you need to *believe*...
PS - After new motherboard upgrade, this went from 15 seconds to 3 seconds average.

Yep - Lightroom still has some leaks - gotta restart it from time to time...

+1 vote - arguably the most desired addition to the dev tools. I bet Lr4 will have this (no inside info though).

Frequently requested - some use pre-startup database query + plugin to make collection in the mean time (I dont).

RC Importer supports this - its an import plugin that bypasses the import dialog box - not for everyone...

Maybe the seeds of a good idea here, but may be worth some refinement/clarification - what would be searched? Would special syntax be supported? Personally, I mostly hate all 1-box search fields, because one never knows what's being searched and how, e.g. does it search the whole catalog?, is it case sensitive? On the other hand, I get the convenience factor... - I think if accompanied by help and/or the ability to pop up a dialog box for refinement or options, this might make a nice addition. Along these lines, I sometimes think a quick-smart-collection would be nice too - for when one wants to search 2 text fields, instead of just one. I keep a temporary smart collection just for this purpose, but still...

Change detecting export plugins have mostly solved this for me (and publishing for some folks), although adding export info (and metadata change info) to catalog for searching / sorting still sounds like a good idea to me...

Yes, better export management would be welcome. Export Manager might help you (if you have multiple export destinations to update), but its not a panacea... Many of us ultimately "consume" our photos outside Lightroom, having the consumption copies kept up to date more fluidly would be good. Using change detecting export plugins (along with export-manager) and/or publishing helps..
    HopeSpringsEternal2008 wrote:

Yep - much room for plugins to get better integrated with Lightroom proper, to participate in image enhancement, as well as other things...

That would be nice. Although support for 3rd parties to add frames *upon export* already exists (export filter plugin + export post-process actions), as well as adding text overlays and such. But since its not built into Lightroom, one has to find them and configure them... And there is no good way to preview them in Lightroom... I think this would go nicely with the previous request - ability to feed image data to plugins for preview in Lightroom. Even if these updates were not built-into the dev module - i.e. weren't kept updated automatically whilst editing - just being able to click a 'see final' button or have it rolled into the build-previews function, so one could have post-process imaging plugins (with preview before export) - might be a nice compromise until true imaging plugins (that fit into dev pipeline) are supported.
    The end - for now...

  • Lightroom 4 / Camera RAW 6.7 causing Premiere Problems?

I've also posted this in the Premiere Forum, but wanted to copy it here too....
After installing Lightroom 4 and the Camera RAW 6.7 beta, my Premiere Pro CS5.5.2 Win7Pro stopped working, popping up this garbled error message:
(The other program which stopped working at the same time was the Sony EXCAM EX Clip Browser!)
A reinstallation of Premiere Pro CS5.5 had got Premiere working again, but just wondering if anyone else had had this issue?

  • Issues with lightroom 5.3 update in windows 7 HP SP1

After downloading and installing the 5.3 update I could open lightroom and it seemed to work fine. But when I tried to open a cr2 file in explorer no known program was found. I instructed to use lightroom now found in the folder lightroom 5.3, but instead of opening lightroom the system tried to use adobe reader, which of course didn't work. Yet, now adobe reader was connected with the cr2 extension. I tried to restore by using 'open with'  or by using the specific windows settings page, but it stayed hooked to the reader instead. Lastly, I ran a system restore and tride to reinstall the update, but that one got stuck when trying to unpack. I cancelled the installation and now it is a mess. What should I do?

Thanks Keith for this bit of education to LR beginner.
Removed all files, but reinstallation got stuck again with error 1714 'cannot remove old version'. Needed to fix it with microsoft fixit tool http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall.
After that everythng was running at last.

  • Lightroom 4 does not recognize Photoshop 6.

When I go to Photo - Edit In, Photoshop is greyed out. I have reinstalled Lightroom 4 and that did not work.

It does not work in the library or develop module. Yes the photo is selected. It is a .dng file. I am working in Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. The computer is a new Samsung Series 7. Here are its specs.
    2.2GHz Intel Core i7-2675QM Quad-Core
    8GB of DDR3 RAM
    750GB Hard Drive (5400rpm)
AMD Radeon HD 6490 Graphics (512MB)
    15.6" HD+ Matte LED-Backlit Display
    1600 x 900 Native Resolution
I have been trying for several days and finally tried reinstalling Lightroom 4, but that did not help. I had Photoshop 6 installed on my old computer with Lightroom 3. I reinstalled them on my new computer. Then decided to upgrade to Lightroom 4. After the reinstallation, the Edit In has not worked for Photoshop. I have several other programs that do work. Color EFX Pro, Silver EFX Pro, and Dfine, all NIK software.

  • Complete Lightroom Import Failure on Upgrade

I have just upgraded from the Lightroom release candidate to the new 3.4.1 (64 bit) version and I find that I cannot use the import function at all without causing a complete program crash.
When clicking on the Import button, or using the menu selection, I immediately receive a "Program Not Responding" message and Lightroom crashes. This happens whether there is a camera plugged into a USB port, or a card into a memory reader, or with nothing connected at all.
I have done the following without success.
System Restore to before 3.4.1 64 bit
    Reinstall of 3.4.1
    Uninstall and reinstall of Lightroom
    Deleted preferences file
    Reboots throughout the processes
    Windows 7 (64) Home
Import has worked flawlessly from Vers 2 on with 3 camera makes and 2 Phone cameras
I have searched these forums and the KB but I see nothing that appears to match my case.
I would appreciate help or a pointer to an Adobe technical support email address which for some odd reason related to growing frustration I just can't seem to find on the website.

It has taken some 4 hours but I am back in business -- I don't know why.
After posting my problem I did a complete scrub of all Lightroom mentions on my machine using a 64 bit program uninstaller that went after every mention of the program including the registry entries. The only things I left alone were the catalogs.
I then tried the following without success . . .
    Installed 3.4.1
Uninstalled again, ran Ccleaner, installed 3.3
Repeated uninstals but this time removed all catalogs
Disabled all malware/virus and most services and processes
    Reinstalled boxed 3.2
    Upgraded
Frequent reboots throughout and continued removal of Temp/etc files with CCleaner
In each case the simple act of clicking on the Import button would result in a program crash and despite Microsoft's kind offers no suggestions for fixing the problem ever came forth.
Once in a while I would get as far as a list of folders in the Import dialogue but any click on any of them brought about the crash.
During all of this I was also testing by plugging one of my cameras into the USB port that I had always used for Imports.
But, for some reason that I can't remember, I happened to plug a card reader into a completely different port and suddenly the Import function started to work.
I tested with all of my cameras as well as that same reader and card on the original port that I have always used and everything worked fine, and has continued to work fine since through a final upgrade back up to 3.4.1 and the reinstallation of my original main file catalogue.
I have no idea why things have started working again nor do I know how to avoid the problem in future.

  • Lightroom cc does not work on yosemite

Lightroom CC consistently throws up "module" problem (reported widely elsewhere) on Yosemite (imac retina 5k). I have no problem with a standalone LR same release (5.7.1) on my MacBook with Retina. Have tried all permutations -combinations including multiple uninstall and reinstalls. When is a solution expected ? As of now looks like Bridge and Photoshop CC versions work OK.

Yosemite sometimes has problems, often related to "default" permissions needing to be changed

  • PIxma Pro 100 - Lightroom Incorrect image sizing for select paper sizes

I am trying to print from Lightroom to the Pixma Pro 100 using the A3+ Paper size (13"x19")  In Lightroom, the page and printer setups are all correct (verified by Adobe's Tech support) and in the Print Preview area, everything looks great and ready to print.
Yet when I actually print the image to A3+ paper (and the image nearly fills the entire paper area) the resulting image is serverly cropped on the paper.  In fact is looks like it is cropping the image to 8.5x11, which obviously, only uses a portion of the 13x19 paper size.  It seems that Lighroom or the Canon Printer drivers are not respecting the selected paper size and defaulting to 8.5x11.
Here is a link to an image of what the print out looks like:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/mylwpsns0uvr4io/2013-05-20%2009.00.15.jpg
This does not happen when printing from Print Studio Pro, nor from Photoshop itself.
I've dealt with Adobe Tech support and Canon - both are point fingers at each other.  Meanwhile I am unable to print anything on larger paper sizes.
The Pixma Pro is the only printer connected and I've re-installed drivers and checked for updates.  Still the same.  At this point, any comments on the situation would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

I am experiencing something like this as well.
I do almost all my printing in A3+ and I do it all directly from LIghtroom. No problem til sometime this summer (post firmware update). Now whenever I set it up for 13 x 19 (and LR shows that it is 13 X 19) the finished print is actually 7.5 x 11 on the 13 x 19 in paper.
Incredibly frustrating as I go through time, paper, ink, and tech support (at Canon and Adobe) trying to resolve this.
Last week a Canon technician walked me through a complete reinstall of the printer and then it worked again. This week it's back to the same mess, and neither  a reinstallation of the printer today nor an update of my LR solfware resolved the problem.
I learned today that I am able to print the correct size using Print Studio Pro, but I have never used it in the past and I'm reluctant to switch from the functional LR to Canon workflow I had going (where I knew how my printing specs would come out)

Which date you expect new upgrade or new version of Lightroom?
(regarding Photoshop CC I expect No-Cloud version )

  • Lightroom 3.4.1

Is anyone else having problem with installing Lightroom 3.4.1?  I've downloaded the file from the Adobe site, saved to my computer and run the installation. However, the version number keeps coming back as LR 3.4 and when opening LR, I'm asked if I want to update to 3.4.1.

I had tried deleting Lightroom 3.4 before reinstalling, but had gotten the same result.  This time after removing LR 3.4, I tried your suggestion and renamed the folder to Lightroom 3.4.1 and the installation was successful.  I'm hoping it will be more stable than the previous version as 3.4 tended to freeze my system (Window 7 Ultimate 64-bit) and would occasionally disappear from my desktop shortcuts requiring reinstallation.
Thank you for the quick response.
