Lightroom 4 Web uploading

Hi all,
I've had my portfolio up for a few months and wanted to update it with newer photos. I made the gallery, exported it to my harddrive and then uploaded it with the same FTP settings I used for the first one (godaddy.com). My problem is everytime I try uploading it (in Lightroom) it keeps uploading the old one. Any ideas?

I just did an upload directly from Lightroom 5.7.1 using OSx 10.8.5 and Cpanel on the hosting site shows the permissions as 644 for ALL files and 755 for folders. I don't think there was any changes to the web module between Lr 4 and 5. Have you tried using Filezilla to delete all the files on the host and reupload. A few years ago I had the exact same problem and something got changed on the server where some of the file permissions got changed and I had to start over to get things working.

LR 3.2 - Web upload issue/problem

Good news is that I am not getting error message like other posts in my search. Bad news - it is not doing it right. NOTE: this is my first attempt using web upload, so there is some user tial and error.
First attempt, didn't know if would create html page in process. Upload went fime, no errors, but when went to site, "page doesn't exist" error. Manually created a blank html page matching name used in LR, updated site, and reuploaded the web gallery from LR. Afterwards, went to site and same "page doesen't exist" error message.
Went to Dreamhost and logged into my account, and further loggd in to FTP (and a graphic webFTP version). Didn't see anything anything resembling an upload on the text FTP. On the webFTP version I saw a third directory was created - named my LR file name - and inside the directory folder it had all the all the photos and other files from the LR upload plus the html page I created. I'm wondering what I am doing wrong as LR is successfully logging on and uploading, but placing where not readable.
I have a similar question on the Dreamhost forum site, however, when a keyword search over there returned zero hits on "Lightroom" as a similar search over here returned zero hits on "Dreamhost." Figured it was best to ask in both places.

RESOLVED...
Now this is embarrasing as I found the solution through trial and error. I was doing everything right except for two words -"Case Sensitive." The uploaded file and directory the upload created was "Area43Contest" yet when typing out the file path to view after upload, I naturally type all lower case and received the page doesn't exist error.
On the FTP viewer issue at my host: the text version appears to update overnight as the directory was not there yesterday but was there this AM. The "webFTP" version appears to be realtime which is why I could see on one and not the other yesterday.
Understanding Lightroom web upload: Assuming that you keep the default "use subfolder" checked, it is self-contained in the directory that it creates so the typed path ends in the directory name rather than a file name. Thati s why it doesn't create a page outside the directory. It launches full screen as previewed in Lightroom absent the other parts of the web site, like headers - which is exactly what I wanted. Essentially a hidden page where I can deliver a product by giving a link.This was an HTML template where recipients can rt click and download the photos rather than the available flash templates which have the advantage of self running slideshow rather than download. While not necessary 99% of the time, may want to create a custom template with at least "Home" link as the only obvious way to return to the web site is back out the address to .com.
Hope others don't have to go through what I went through, but felt with the numbers that viewed this post in 24 hours and apparently stumped as no suggestions, that I had to let you know.

Embed Lightroom Web View in Webpage

The ability to share a collection by copy and pasting a web link through Lightroom Web View is briliant, but is there or will there be the ability to embed this on a webpage say through wordpress? Simply pressing the B key to add images to a predfined collection and having them instantly appear online publicly I'd imagine this would not be too hard to implement?

I'm not sure I completely understand your problem, because linking to a Lightroom gallery is actually very simple.
Design your Lightroom gallery and upload it to your server. Just do it directly from LR. Let's suppose you have uploaded it into [your webroot folder]/galleries/test/.
Don't rename any of the index files.
Check it has actually worked, by visiting http://celestialapple.zxq.net/galleries/test/index.html with your browser.
Create a link to the gallery on your home page. The source code for the link is <a href="/galleries/test/index.html">Other Photoshop gallery</a>
And that's it already.

Web Upload Glitch

Im looking for suggestions on troubleshooting the Upload process for placing Lightroom web photo galleries online. Ive done it successfully once but have been unable to duplicate that feat. Ive figured out how to do it manually by exporting to my FTP workspace and uploading manually, but every time I try the Upload command direct from Lightroom I get an absolutely instantaneous message saying:
FTP transfer failed with message the server could not be found.
It comes up so fast I wonder if its really trying to find the server at all. I know I have the right server/password data as Ive quintuple checked it many times.
If anyone can point me in the direction of a solution Id be very grateful. If it helps my domain is placed on Network Solutions servers.

Okay, I think I know the answer, since I just fixed the same problem.
I only have the problem at home, not at work. The problem is at home, my wireless modem was plugged into my vonage router which was directly connected to my cable modem. When I I plugged my apple airport extreme 'n' router into the cable modem first, and chained my vonage router off the airport extreme, well, everything worked just fine.

Lightroom web module

Re "Lightroom Web Module"
In the "site info" panel, I type the word "exit"
In the "web or mail link" section, I copy and paste the web page address of the page on my site
I wish it to be directed to.
I preview this with the Lightroom "Preview in Browser" button.
All works perfectly well including the exit link.
I then export it into my website "local file".
Create a link from text on my web page to the lightroom created gallery (I'm using Dreamweaver)
Then save changes in Dreamweaver and click preview in browser.
The Gallery works fine with the exception of the exit link.
I have the same problem in the Web HTML Gallery
I have also downloaded Lightroom 3.6 from Adobe labs and had the same result.
Any Suggestions

Tried replacing exit with home without any results
Doubbled checked the link address was correct in lightroom...it was.
Just tried something I had not tried before. Up untill now, I was using only the "preview in browser" in
Dreamweaver.
When I uploaded the gallery to the remote server and went to see if it worked on my site it did !!!!
Not sure why it won't work in the "preview in browser" in dreamweaver but.....a question for bigger brains than mine..

Lightroom Mobile & Lightroom Web?

I have looked into these programs however, I have a few questions about them. I know it isn't actually uploading the Raw file, therefore, is it uploading Smart Previews? How big are smart previews? Am I able to edit them as if I had the actual file on Lightroom Mobile or Lightroom web? Also, what do I do when I have filled up a Smart view preview with the 20GB of storage? Delete the Smart View previews from my Mac version? When I save the changes I've made on Lightroom web or Lightroom Mobile, it will automatically sync with the desktop versions without telling it to do anything?
I've never built Smart View previews. Is there a quality difference that is noticeable while editing? That way I don't make a decision that doesn't look as good on the original one. I can zoom in the same and everything on a Smart View and it will look as if I have the real file? Or can I set how big my Smart Previews are?
I seen something about collaboration on Lightroom Web, does this mean that my friend who also has Lightroom can go in and work on a file I've made?

- When you sync a collection, LR sends smart previews - as you happen to know. But for using for using LrM/LrW you don't need to know that background information because all LrM/LrW smart preview activity happens behind the scenes.
Is there a quality difference that is noticeable while editing?
- I regard adjustments as ball park, not final. I might share the pics on FB or email them to a friend, but review them on a colour managed monitor before I might print them. The advantage for me is that I've had time on the train to contemplate how I want the picture to look, and then in the pub I have made those ball park adjustments. So I've saved time, and when I am back chained to the desk I can focus more on the final fine tuning.

- LrW doesn't have adjustments.
- When you share a collection with someone, they only have favourites and comments, so LrW is more about sharing a shoot with someone who might want to choose which pictures they want. When you get back to your desktop, you can see their favourites and comments, and can easily select the ones they want
- As the account owner, when you review a collection in LrW you get the Pick/Reject flags in your browser and can use the P / U / X shortcuts. It's a bigger screen than your iPad/Phone, and colour managed too (though the lack of CM on mobile devices doesn't matter if you remember that you're doing ball park adjustments that save you time later).

Web Upload into web page done with Apple iWeb

I use Apple's iWeb program to create a web site where I present my photos. I used Lightroom to create a web page which I would like to upload to the website created with iWeb. I would like to know if we can upload a web page created in Lightroom to a website created in Apple iWeb?

An FTP program will let you drag and drop the folder created in Lightroom Web module to your own website. There are many free FTP programs available if you don’t have one. The left hand panel mirrors the folders on your hard drive and the right hand panel mirrors your website when you are logged in (click image below for an example) and you simply drag and drop to your root directory folder. A progress bar at the bottom shows the file being uploaded to your website.
Supposing your site was Groove28.com and you created a Lightroom slideshow saved in a folder called wedding. You would upload the wedding folder using FTP and when complete the slideshow would automatically start when you link to it in a web browser.
The path would be something like:
http://Groove28.com/wedding/index.html
Or
www.Groove28.com/wedding/index.html

Best way is to upload your WebGallery into a subfolder of your web space and put a link to the index.html file onto your main page.

Web Uploading question

I want to upload my page to my web site. The box, Put in Subfolder is checked (in this case "Olive General". Will the upload process create a subfolder called "Olive General" in my site or do I need to make the subfolder first (I still use GoLive CS2) upload it to my site then go back to LightRoom and upload my web show?

It is not often one wants to call oneself a dope, but here it is. Ok, you answered my question. So I tried and tried to upload my files but no luck. over and over again, but no luck. then I came to the forum looking for answers. And I came across my own message string. And there was the answer. REMEMBER TO MAKE A WEB SAFE FOLDER, NO SPACES OR OTHER UNACCEPTABLE CHARACTERS. If you hadn't thrown that little bit of info into your response I would still be wasting time.

Question regarding using Lightroom Web Module and Zenfolio

I use LR3 and like the galleries I can make in the Web Module. If I use Zenfolio as a web hosting service, can I upload or export my photos from LR to Zenfolio and use the galleries I create in the Lightroom Web Module,,,or do I need to use the existing gallery templates in Zenfolio? If that is the case, other than using Lightroom to upload photos, is it's Web Gallery Module superflous?

If you are asking if you need to use LR's Web Module to export images to Zenfolio, then no you would not use the LR Web Module but rather use a plug-in to export directly to Zenfolio. Or you can just export to your local HDD and use Zenfolio's upload module to grab the files from your local drive.
Jeffery Friedl has a nice LR plug-in for SmugMug so I am sure his Zenfolio plug-in will work nicely as well:

It's free, sort of, after the trial period, like 45-days as I recall, there is a limit on the number of files which can be uploaded. When the trial expires if ya like it you just donate any amount and get to upload any number of files as Zenfolio allows in a session.

Bridge CS3 Workspace Adobe Lightroom Web Gallery Creator

A while back I was looking around for an easy way to create sharp looking image galleries with minimal work, and I came across a workspace plug in for Bridge Cs3. If I remember correctly, it was labeled Adobe Lightroom Web Gallery something or another. Anyway, I recently formatted my computer and reinstalled everything, but for the life of me I can find no trace of that handy workspace plug in. Does anyone know where I can find it? It had a bunch of customizable flash galleries as well as a customizable html gallery as well. Any help would be appreciated!

Some Details are needed: I created my Dreamweaver-homepage (www.natur-momente.de) including a photogallery, to select and show photographs by navigation. Disadvantage of the included photogallery: it is very time-consuming to import new photographs and series of photographs. So I need to replace only the current photogallery.

I found no way to fit in the very elegant and comfortable-to-use Lightroom Web-Photogallery.

Font Change in Lightroom Web Gallery

Is ther any way to change the default font in the lightroom web galleries (specifically the HTML-based gallery)? I feel like it's probably a simple change in a menu somewhere that I missed

In a HTML based page the fonts shown will always be dependent on the fonts installed on the end users computers. Whilst many LR galleries have the ability to select a font group that the respective end users machine may display by editing the page css style, I don't think the default html gallery that comes installed with LR has this.
If you want to make the change yourself you will need to recode the exported gallery files yourself. In the index file a line such as
body,td,th { font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; } should do it

Disappearing Lightroom web gallery photos

I'm using a Mac, Lightroom 3 uploading to a host monster.com server. the Lightroom HTML gallery displays fine when exported and opened offline but when uploaded to my server, backgrounds and navigation and cells appear fine but all the photos appear to be missing. the source code appears to have the correct path. When I've seen this question earlier users suggest that the photos are being put in a bin file but mine look to be in the correct path on the server. Other users suggest changing code in some Lightroom files perhaps using the SDK but I can't find the files they suggest changing (I think they might have been on pcs instead of macs). Any help would be appreciated.

I teach photography and was practicing using Lightroom this summer so I could have my students make websites of their photos but this is disappointing and frustrating. We purchased Lightroom 3 about 2 months before Lightroom 4 came out but I don't think we'll have funding for another upgrade this fall.

Host monster tech support found the problem. they are the greatest bar none with their tech support.
It appears that the rewrite conditions in your public_html/.htacces file is preventing the images from being displayed on http://www.rocklandbaptist.mnsherwood.com
I renamed the file to .htaccess.old and added the following code.
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://rocklandbaptist.mnsherwood.com/.*$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.rocklandbaptist.mnsherwood.com/.*$ [NC]
The images are now viewable. You will need to add the same code to the .htaccess file for each subdomain that you create, otherwise the images will be block from being displayed.

An annoying problem with this method is having to back click through lighroom to get to your home page. Being new to the web design program is there a way to embed the sites into dreamweaver so that you have the ability to set up a home button on each of the LR sites? You could use the Contact field to point back to your home page, and have a contact point there rather than all over the LR galleries. Also, if you use the Identity plate I believe you could put in a link to your home page. There's also LR galleries at http://theturninggate.net and other sites, and likely other solutions that hopefully others will offer.
