Lightroom 4 won't open: Error 0xc000007b

Solution for Error 0xc000007b in Lightroom 4.4 with Windows 7 64 bit:
I have been having trouble with being able to load in Lightroom 4.4 on Windows 7 64 bit on a few occasions in the past few months, and I found a very quick and simple fix if you are in my situation.  I hope this works for you.
If you are receiving the 0xc000007b error immediately when you start Lightroom then, most likely you are missing a msvcr100.dll file.  If you don't have, or can't locate a  msvcr100.dll file on one of your hard drives, then go to the following link:
http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/error-unable-start-correctly-0xc00007b/_jcr_content/ma in-pars/procedure/proc_par/step_0/step_par/download/file.res/Lightroom_64-Bit_DLLs.zip
Download the zip file with two DLL files in it. The two files included are a msvcr80.dll and a msvcr100.dll
IT has been my experience that I ahve only needed the msvcr100.dll file. Once you have extracted the files from the ZIP file, copy the msvcr100.dll from that folder and do the following procedure:
Go to Start menu / all programs / right click on the Adobe Lightroom 4 icon at the top of your list of programs / left click on the "open file location" option / paste the msvcr100.dll file into that Lightrooom application folder / close it out and you should be ready to go!  Open Lightroom and see how it goes.
It's like Hooked On Phonics, "works for me!"  I have had to do this on two separate occasions and both times I coulld never seem to find the right forum answers that make the problem solving easy, I finally found this solution deep in a discussion after MUCH research, so my hope is to post this and hopefully this will work for you and make your day.  (...it did mine!)

  • Trial of Lightroom 4 won't open... help!

I just downloaded the trial of lightroom 4. It fully downloaded & didn't say anything about errors but now it won't open... need help!

Moving this discussion to the Photoshop Lightroom forum.  You may also want to reference Error "Unable to start correctly - 0Xc00007b" - http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/error-unable-start-correctly-0xc00007b.html.

  • My Adobe Lightroom 3 won't open.

I installed Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 on my computer last year. It downloaded without any problem. Only used it a couple of times. Later on when I went to use it is would not open. I decided to uninstall it and reinstall it last week. Had to do it at least 5 times. At first it wouldn't intall. It finally did, but it still won't open. I'm getting the message "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64 bit has stopped working. A problem casued the program to stop working correctly " Can someone tell me why this might be happening? Any solutions to fix the problem would be very welcome. Thank you very much.

Hello,I once tried a trial version of Lightroom and decided to buy lightroom 3.I've search on forums and even chat with Adobe with no answer to my problem.I download the program and it's working fine on my boyfriend's side.(We are two adminstraters on my computer)When I clic to open lightroom a window appears "Lightroom-ouverture de cataloque:DSC_0738.NEF.lrcat" and I have another window at the same time from microsoft ..error...The letters and numbers I have are..
    10.0.40219.325
    appVer:3.6.0.10
    offset:0008d6fd
    ModName:msvcr100.dll
Then the program closed...I found the .lrcat file, double clic and LR still doesn't open.I saw on a french forum that I have to rename the cataloq but I still don't know how to do that.I started using a computer only five years ago and I'm not very good but I love photography and I'm sure lightroom would be fun for me.
I spend hours trying to figure it out and I don't know what to do ...I saw an answer on the forum of Adobe saying to click on the control button and open the program at the same time ...didn't work....
Is it possible that when I had the trial version I've created a catalog and this catalog(that no longer exists)gets in the new program so I can't open it anymore....I don't know what to do anymore...please can someone help me...thank you           Gisele

  • Lightroom 2 won't open

My Lightroom 2 has been working like a champ and suddenly won't open. Sez to contact the manufacturer. Tried looking up how to uninstall and Adobe has nothing. Found on a website to just trash the application. Did that. Closed all apps. Restarted the computer. Ran MacKeeper. Restarted again. Tried reinstalling from disk but it sez "An error has occured. Contact the manufacturer." WTF? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

In the directory where the catalog upon which you are currently opening, is a file with the catalog name and a .LOCK extension. This file is preventing LR from opening with the desired catalog.  It was likely left behind after an abnormal shutdown of Lightroom.
Locate this file and delete it.
Lightroom should open the catalog normally afterwards.

  • Lightroom 4 won't open.

Lightroom 64-bit on Windows 8.1 won't open. I get the following error message: "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application even log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." Problem is, the sxstrace.exe tool won't open either. My copy of PSE Elements 11 won't open either. I haven't made any changes to my system recently so I don't know what's going on - it's extremely frustrating because my work is backing up. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Geoff ~ Thanks for the reply. The computer I'm having the problem with is my iMac using OS 10.9.4. I purchased Lightroom in 2008 and it was Version 2. Since then I upgraded (can't remember when) to Version 4.4. It's worked perfect up until earlier this month. I had used it a few days and then went to open it and it started normally and then the spinning wheel comes up and nothing happens - no windows open telling me there's a problem. If I open the Force Quit window it says that Lightroom "is not respoonding". I'm wondering it I uninstall it and then install the Version 2 CD can I then just upgrade it from the link you sent me?
OK.... not to make this long but before I was going to send the above reply I thought I'd try going to the link you sent and try and upgrade what I have now. Well...... IT WORKED! I've opened Lightroom twice so, as of now, problem solved. Thanks!
P.S. Do you l live in New Zealand? Got to travel there in my younger days surfing and playing. I dream of going back someday. Such an amazing country!

  • Firefox won't open, error msg = can't find profile; deleted all app.data to rid new Win 7 Total Security virus - tried both v 4.0 & v 3.6 (now no error msg either). Can't open profile manager, can't open safe mode. pls help

My mother's computer was infected with the new "Win 7 Total Security" virus (apparently a fake antivirus program) - corrupted real av. To remove, we followed online advice to delete everything in AppData, for all programs, plus some other stuff. We moved it all to a flashdrive for safety, but after successfully removing virus, likewise cleaned & reformatted flashdrive. This apparently deleted Firefox profile(s), and after uninstalling & reinstalling, Firefox still won't open - I can't create a new profile. With v 4.0, I get an error message about not being able to find the profile. Found advice on how to open profile manager, but it won't open. Found reference to version 4 dispensing with profile manager, so tried installing version 3.6 again; still won't open, still can't open profile manager, but now no error message at all.

THANX for the reply cor-el. I've never had a problem using just "firefox -p", but i did use the full path like you advised after i read the profile manager article here before i posted my question. Unfortunately it didn't work. I've backed up all 3 profiles from the "%appdata% profile" file, and also from my remaining main profile that i'm on right now. I decided i'm going to uninstall ff3.6.28 & upgrade to "firefox 11" this weekend and hopefully create the other 2 profiles along with my main one. I do like in the newer versions of FF the tabs on top like googles chrome because it gives you more room on the page. I also like some other features too, but the main reason i kept my old version both times is because the newer versions didn't seem to load pages any faster than version 3.6.28. I'm not going to worry about some themes/personas not being compatible with ff11. I'll find some new ones. I think when i tried "ff9" awhile back along with my current version, i just deleted the shortcut that the article said to create on the desktop and still had all 3 profiles & no problems like i have now. In case your curious, the article on how to create more than one version of firefox at the same time was on the site "Dottech.org>[How To] Tip: Install multiple versions of Firefox to test before upgrading to latest release". It works but i obviously did something different this time that caused this problem. THANX again for your time/help, i do appreciate it.

  • Project suddenly won't open, error message displayed

Can anyone shed any light on the following error message?
    [\Monk\main\common\PremiereShell\Src\PlayerFactory.cpp-379]
I'm half way through a project; all was well when I shut down yesterday, but today the project won't open. The error message offers me a "continue" option, but doing so only opens a "working" dialogue which sits at 0% and does nothing. Audition is otherwise happy, all other projects opening fine, just not the one I need!
    Any thoughts anyone?
    Thanks
    Aidan

"so If I save a back up of my project under the same name...and then the original gets corrupted...then the backup will ALSO not work unless it's been labeled under a different name??"
Well if someone saves a backup under the same name in the same location then clearly it is actually overwritting the original and yes as they are now the same session then if one is corrupt the 'backup' is corrupt.
    Clearly this isn't a backup.
But in your situation you are making a backup to a different drive/etc so if the original session file (.ses) gets corrupted no your backup will not be corrupted.
You can try this utility http://www.mediasweeper.com.au/sesbackup.htm its pretty handy for hunting down & backing up all or selected session files.
You can also use this utility http://www.mediasweeper.com.au/ to examine your session files and see the exact path of the files referenced within your session file.
But note that if you make a copy of your session & media (ie the whole folder - lets say on H: drive) and put it on another drive (say E:) if you open the session on the E: drive then (as MediaSweeper will show you) AA will open the session on E: and reference the files on the H: drive but if those files are no longer on the H: drive (ie the original location) then AA will look in the current folder that the session is in.
Its handy to know that otherwise you may think you are working on a backup but you are actually working on the original.
Remember as with all software - Save early and save often!

  • ITunes won't open - error message

When I try and launch iTunes I get this error message:  "The folder iTunes is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder."  I have since unistalled and reinstalled V 11. I have also been given admin rights to my machine. I have given myself full rights to this folder.  It still won't open. Now I have unistallaed it again and reinstalled V. 10. Same error message. I ran the compaibility report and it say there is an incompatible device but doesn't say which one.   Any ideas?  I am on a Windows 7 Fujitsu laptop. I had no problems with it until I upgraded recently to V. 11.
    Thanks for any help here.

  • Itunes won't open error code 5,87

My itunes was working fine, and then I downloaded the latest version of Itunes and it won't open. It keeps saying "Dr. Watson was unable to attach to the process. It is possible that process exited before Dr. Watson could attach to it. Windows 2000 returned error code=5...access is denied"...before it said error code 87...now it says error code 5...I've tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling but it doesn't work! Please help! I desperately want my Itunes back!

okay ... that rules out various problems with DrWatson that i was able to find in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.
let's try something aimed at trying to work out what the nature of the itunes problem is (the one that DrWatson is having trouble with).
try launching your QuickTime. does it:
    (a) launch perfectly fine?
    (b) fail to launch with an error message? (if so, what does it say?)
    (c) exhibit other peculiar behavior? (if so, could you describe it for us?)

  • After installing iTunes 10.3.1 it won't open, error message - "the file "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes"

new iTunes won't open. Error says cant read iTunes Library.itl becuase it was created by a newer version of iTunes.
I had just installed iTunes 10.3.1 as was instructed by the Genius at the store.

I don't know how you received an upgrade for iTunes.  You make it sound like it was sent to you.  At most your computer will tell you of a new version and you tell it to download it and install it.  However, a computer will not do this for a version which is incompatible.  iTunes 10.7 came out a few weeks ago but your computer would not notify you and even if it did, 10.7 would refuse to install on your computer.  So this part isn't making a lot of sense.
Two ways to get the 'newer version' message.  One is to open your library on a computer running a newer version, and then try to open it with an older version.  Usually happens when the library is on an external and used with multiple computers.  The second way is if you have multiple versions of itunes installed on your computer.
The newest (and likely the last) iTunes for OSX 10.5.8 is iTunes 10.6.3 which has been out for quite a while.
