Lightroom 5.3 file export problems

Just upgraded to lightroom 5.3 and can no longer export photos.  any clues?

A RAW file is a RAW file.
DNG is also a RAW format
Lightroom will not alter RAW fomat files on export, as in develop edits.
(it will record those edits in metadata if asked so another application capable of interpreting Lightroom edits can read and apply those edits - like ACR.)
DNG exports can be altered to various flavours of DNG but that does not include develop edits.
A colourspace can also be added as appropriate.
The other formats are derivative files and develop edits are baked in on export.

  • Lightroom 5.5 jpeg export problem

I am using jAlbum to create photo albums on the web with images exported with Lightroom. Since I am using Lightroom 5.5 for the export I am get an error message whenever I create an Album with jAlbum which says "inconsistent metadata read from stream". As jAlbum uses Java the Java version may aslo matter. I am using the latest Java update from  Oracle on a Windows 7 Professional x64 machine. With images exported with Lightroom 5.4 there is no problem. Also changing metadata options in Lightroom's export dialog  did not help.
Is there a known problem with the Lightroom 5.5 export?
    Wolfgang

Same here with LR 5.5. Just generated a few hundred jpegs to further process them in web applications for some online albums. One example is a QNAP NAS that has to generate smaller jpegs. It was working perfectly with LR5.4 and all older versions of LR. But as soon as I exported jpegs from LR 5.5 only grey rescaled images with some "noise" are depicted/generated. Had to go back to LR5.4 and it is now working as expected.
Adobe: Please do not try to fix something when it is not broken and get a fix for the "fix" ASAP. This is not acceptable for the prices we pay as we are not talking about freeware or shareware where somebody is programming in his free time. Most likely these guys would have already posted a fix for the issue.

  • Fce 3.5 unknown file-export problem

    Hello!
I have a problem with exporting my finished movie. Everytime I try to export it as a .mov file. The following erros shows up
    Unknown File
I just have .mov files as my video files form a digital camera and .aif files as my audio files and some text. I also tried to find out which is the UNKNOWN file therefore I tried to export just the audio or just the video. It didn't work. The same error.
    Any Suggestions? I'm really confused
    Thank you
    Jens

Your camera creates QuickTime MJPEG videos at 640x480 or 320x240 pixels at either 30 or 10 fps. FCE is a DV / HCV application that uses either NTSC or PAL video standards. That is why FCE gives you the unknown file type error message.
Did you render your video in FCE before you tried to export it? If not, select all video clips in your timeline and do Sequence > Render All > Both, followed by Sequence > Render Only > Mixdown.
It would be better if you can convert your MJPEG video(s) to DV-PAL before you import them into FCE (I assume that's the correct choice for Germany; the other choice would be DV-NTSC but that is the North American standard.) I believe QuickTime Pro can do the conversion.

  • File export problem

    Dear All
I need to export data to a file share location in XL format. I have the data in an internal table. This file share is on another location(network directory).
I also wish to import it when needed.
How can I do it. Please guide me.
    Regards
    Vijai

    Hi Vijai,
In order to save the data on to some file onthe Application server(Network directory),use the keywords Open Dataset,Transfer and Close Dataset in your report which would transfer the data from the internal table to the file on the Application server.
Once the file has the data in the file n the T-code AL11(Application server),use the T-code CG3Y to transfer the data from the Application server to the Presentation server in the Excel format.
Use the T-code CG3Z to transfer the data from the Presentation server to the Application server.
In case you have any further clarifications,do let me know.
    Regards,
    Puneet Jhari.

  • File Resolution Export Problem

I'm having problems with the resolution option when I export my images as jpegs in Lightroom.
In the export dialog box, I enter the file resolution as 240ppi, but once the file is exported and I open it in Photoshop or Bridge, the resolution is 72ppi not 240ppi. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Screen display ignores the PPI setting. Set PPI in LR to 1 on a test image. That image will display exactly the same as the same image set to 300ppi. PPI/DPI are printing issues, not screen display issues. Screen display is controlled by pixel dimensions only. Try it you will see.

  • File Export Renaming Problem

I want to export collections of files from Lightoom.
I want to rename the newely exported files, but I want to use the same file number suffix as the original file.
I also want to embed the oringal file name in the metadata of the newly exported file.
The problem is that, when I go into the File->Export dialog i.e. the "Filename Template Editor" the orginal  "file number suffix" is not showing up in what would be the newly created filename. The orginal file number suffix does not appear to be part of the metadata.
The current filename on disk does however have the file number suffix as part of the name.
However it does not seem possible to extract part of the current file name (i.e. the number suffix) on export.
If I rename the files using a number sequence then adding or removing a file will change the sequence on subsequent exports of the collection.
(Not something I want to do, since it would then be difficult to keep track of the images used originate the exported file, if I updated the collection.)
Renaming all my original files is not a viable option since there are too many of them and different exported files may be in more than one collection.
*Any suggestions as to how to get the file naming I want for the exported files, i.e. "placename-oringal file number suffix"?
(Given the file number suffix is missing from the metadata)
*Also I would like to include the existing file name in the metadata of any new file name.
Any suggestions on how to automate this?

    John said:
    > Unless you check "minimize metadata", it should all be there.
No I have not checked this box.
    > Second, if you rename your files just before you Export (and not in the Export dialog, but actually rename them by batch
    > so the LR name is changed) you'll be able to link them up to the originals much more easily.
No this will not work.  My naming method is quite useful for me, but not useful for potential buyers.
When I export collections I want to simplify the names.
    > Third, the rename editor is pretty flexible.
Yes I know, usually it is sufficient, but in this case it does not do what I want.
    > Finally, all the metadata is there, and searching is much easier via it rather than a complex naming convention
    > (not that it's so complex, but getting there may be.
Not sure I completely agree here.  My naming method works quite well for organising images and for processing and so on.
Now since I have collections spanning multiple directories and so that I want to export the files with a simplified filename.
I expected to be able to do this using the file name editing template.
The BreezeBrowser renamer is much more flexible than the Lightroom filename template editor, so I may end up using that.
However it will be messy and add a few extra steps. i.e. export to a new directory using the existing filename.  Then use Breezebrowser to rename the files by extracting the "file number suffix" from the original filename and making sure there is sufficient information in the new filename to create a one-to-one mapping.  Then upload the new files to the website.
I stil don't see how to get the original file name into the metadate of the new filename though?l
Really I should be able to do all this in Lightroom.

  • Keywords in Master file and AP database-- Export Problem.

I believe that I have a conflict with keywords. I believe that I have "baked in" keywords by writing IPTC to the Master files and then added more keywords which I am guessing are in the Aperture database and not "baked in". When I then look at exported images using the XMP sidecar file with Adobe Bridge all of the keywords do not show up. I want to experiment with Lightroom and I want all of the keywords.
    My process has been:
    1. Add keywords to images from the keywords panel.
    2. Write the IPTC metadata to the master files.
    3. Add more keywords to the images from the keywords panel.
    4. Export the images using the File/Export Masters/Create IPTC4XMP sidecare file.
    5. Look at the exported images in other applications (Bridge and PhotoMechanic).
How can I export using XMP sidecar files and have ALL the keywords be exported???
    DickB

Yes, this is a known problem; sqldev distinguishes between the Constraint and the Index although the former implies the latter...

    K.

  • Lightroom 4.1 export problem

Lightroom 4.1 will not export a deleloped image.  I have the metadata to new file set to automatic and I get no error mesage.  All my new exported files are the same as the original.  I need a detailed discription of what boxes need to be checked or unchecked and where to find them.  Something as simple as saving changes so that I might use them in another app should not be so difficult- version 2.7 worked fine so what's up with 4.1?

Still no luck... I just purchased a licence for my demo version- I was hoping not to have to do  a 1.1Gb download and/or redo my my catalog- is this required?

Are you saying that LR4 is exporting over the top of your exiting images, or that it is not exporting anything?   To test whether you can export anything, try exporting to a subfolder under your originals, instead of new names in the original images folder, which I think is what you’re saying you’re attempting: On the Export panel, all the way at the top, make sure to set Export To: to Hard Drive. Set the Export Location – Export To:  value to Same folder as original photo. Put a checkmark next to Export Location – Put in Subfolder Enter in “output” into the Export Location - Put in Subfolder: textbox. Uncheck the Add to this Catalog unless you really want to include the output of this experimental export in the catalog. Set Export Location - Existing Files to Ask what to do, so LR will indicate if it’s trying to overwrite the same files, again, which it should if the output subfolder is empty. Uncheck the File Naming – Rename To: so the files aren’t renamed. At the bottom change Post-Processing – After Export to Show in Explorer Click the Export button and see what happens.  It should do the export then open up Windows Explorer on the output folder you specified.    Before doing any of this, it might be wise to make a screenshot of your current Export settings, the Export To and File Naming sections at least, which you can both post here and use to reset things back from what I’ve specified, above.

  • File Size & Export Problems

Hi, my name's Jorge and I have a couple of questions.
First, is I make machinima movies and my latest movie is 21:48 long. In order for it to be uploaded to a certain website, it needs to be under 200 MB's. I'd like the visual quality to at least be decent.
What is the best way to export my movie from FCE and have it under 200 MB's?
I'm pretty sure this can be done, because a while ago, someone else made a movie that was also 21 minutes long and the file size for her movie was only 131 MB's, and I can't seem to make mine less than 319.2 MB's.
This brings me to a problem I'm having. I've signed to be an official director at Machinima.com and they require the movies to be in wmv format. It also says that the movie files would be smaller sizes, so I figured that would help my file size problem.
So I tested it out, trying to export my movie from FCE at the wmv specs they required, but it only exports 30 seconds of the movie. (?) Why is this happening and what can I do to fix this?
Since I have signed on with Machinima.com, I need to be able to export my movies in this wmv format.
Any help would be SO GREATLY appreciated.
    Jorge

The trial version of flip4mac only allows up to 30 seconds per export. You'll need to purchase one of the flip4mac plugins if you want to export a complete video.

  • Is there some way to tell lightroom to just re-export the previously exported files?

Shot a celebration (Park, Mass and Party), went home and processed the raw files in Lightroom, Exported them into 3 folders.
Then I proceeded to edit the files in photoshop, first folder that consisted of the park went well. Files looks great, even after compressing them again.
Then up were the Mass pictures and that's where it all went down hill. When I loaded up the first image it was compressed to hell All the black areas were all pixelated, so I went into lightroom and sure enough it changed the quality from 100% down to 60%!
All my other settings were the same so I didn't accidentally reset the whole thing. Not sure why or how Lightroom did this, I've had it on 100% for the past 2 years!
Now I have to export them all over again, the trouble is there was 800 that I culled down to just 150. I really don't want to hand pick them all over again.
Is there some way to tell lightroom to just re-export the previously exported files?

    The short answer: no.
Lightroom remembers recently imported files in a collection, but does not remember recently exported files.
That said, you could use the SQLiteroom plugin (free, by me) to round up a collection of *all* exported files, which might help.

  • Trying to export RAW originals from Aperature 3 to LightRoom 4: I choose File Export Originals. I think then Pictures LR. But then I can't find files in LR library.Files seem stuck in Pictures as NEF

Trying to export RAW originals from Aperature 3 to LightRoom 4: I choose File>Export>Originals. Then Pictures>LR. But then I can't find files in LR library.Files seem stuck in Pictures as NEF and or DNG files. I know Im stuck on something dumb but I am stuck. Help?

You now need to import those files into Lightroom.
BTW, Lightroom uses a "referenced" system so your images will always be in the folders you download/copy them to. Lightroom is a database first and foremost, albeit with non-destructive editing capabilities (effectively Adobe Camera Raw).

  • Why won't .MOV files export from Lightroom?

Why won't .MOV files export from Lightroom?

    The will.
Or at least they can, and do, sometimes, if you have good MOV karma..
Why not supply a little more info, like:
    * Which OS
    * Which version of Lightroom
    * History of MOV files.
    * Export format.
    * Do other video types export OK
    * How many different MOV files have you tried - all with the same history?
    and of course:
    * What, exactly, happens, when you try?
    Rob.

  • Lightroom color export problem

Hello there. When I export a photo in lightroom it does not export the photo with the same colors as in lightroom. It loses some of the warmth, and that not very helpful. The problem might very well be in lightroom, because when I convert to black and white the picture still has a slight yellow-ish color to it, but when exported it becomes regular black and white. I've tried all the export color settings and that doesn't help. I have also checked if there is a filter that applies when importing, but there don't seem to be. What do you guys think?
I've just exported and open the photo on the left.

You see that the histogram also has a slightly yellow tint?  That's because you have a corrupted monitor profile.  You can confirm it using these instructions: http://members.lightroomqueen.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/1137/188/how-do-i-change-my-m onitor-profile-to-check-whether-its-corrupted

  • Lightroom 4 exporting problem

    Hi,
I have been using Lightroom for years without any problems.
Today I had a problem exporting editing images to DNG. Lightroom will only export the original unedited versions to DNG. If I export to JPG I get the edited versions, but it will not export the edited versions to DNG.
    Any help much appreciated.

    Hi Victoria,
even when I import the exported DNG into a new LR 4.3 catalog, it doesn't pick up the corrections that were made by the original LR 4.3 catalog to the DNG... This is the first time I'm encountering this... The jpegs, tiffs etc do have the corrections applied, just not the DNG... very weird.  So basically I cannot detach my DNG's from the LR 4.3 catalog at the moment...

  • Lightroom and DxO: fix lens flaws in a TIF file exported from LR

    Hi,
I'm in love with LR, I don't mind if people tell me that other Raw converter do a better job in demosaicing. Anyway some time ago a friend told me about DxO Optics Pro, I tried and loved the lens corrections. I thought I could prform those correction at the end of my workflow on a Tiff file exported from LR to DxO. No way! It seems that DxO doesn't recognize the lens used to shoot the image. It seems that LR and Camera Raw delete all the infos related to optics used. Any help would be appreciated.
    Bye!

I used the following command to swap exif data:
    exiftool -all= -tagsfromfile DSC_0002.NEF -exif:all DSC_0009-2.tif
The TIF file contais less exif tags than the NEF (or DNG) file, and there is no tag about the lens used.
