Lightroom 5.5 CC 2014 Mac - running fine on Mavericks. Here's how.

Like many other people, after updating CC to CC2014, Lightroom's Develop and Map modules were disabled even though my subscription is current. I tried all suggested remedies in the forums but for one reason or another, they didn't work (sometimes the modules would start working and if I quit LR and relaunched, they would be disabled again). Now, LR's Develop and Map modules are working through multiple app relaunches and system reboots. Here's what worked for me:
Stay signed into CC on the menu bar.
Find the SLCache and SLStore folders in /Library/Application Support/Adobe/
Delete the contents of these folders.
Launch LR - it will ask you to log in. Do it.
Now LR 5.5 for Mac should work fine. Very annoyed with Adobe's QA. Hope this helps!
If this worked for you, please say so. Many people are looking for solutions to this problem.

Thank you for repsonding, Andrew.  The System Prefs show the iMac as the main display - but Lightroom doesn't believe it.  Before OSX 10.9, I used SecondBar which did show a menu bar on the second monitor but which accepted that the iMac was the main screen.  Apple said that they had full support for multiple monitors in Mavericks but this has just confused things because, evidently, no monitor is primary and all monitors have the same menu bar.

I had the same problem earlier today. Sign out of your account for CC in the Preferences panel, close the CC toolbar app. Then sign back in, and the download process might begin in earnest for you. Took me SIX HOURS to download this pig, and now it crashes continually. This software is not ready for release based on today's experience. Hopefully you will at least be able to get to the level of frustration I have arrived at, beyond the level of frustration you are currently stuck at trying to get it to work.I am on the same OS. Too bad Apple abandoned a pro level competitor to LR. Hopefully in the near future they will update Photos so that it competes well with LR.

  • Can I use Synch to migrate (import) settings and preferences and history etc. from Firefox 4.0.1 on a PC to a new Mac running Snow Leopard, and if so, how?

I love Firefox and have relied on it for years. But I'm now planning to move from PC to Mac and would like to keep as much of my Firefox personalization and customization as possible. I have never needed to use the Synch feature before, and I cannot find reliable instructions telling me how to do it in these circumstances. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions? Thanks very much.

Ubuntu may have moved those three button as well to that control bar.

  • I am using Mac running OS X Mavericks (10.9.1) and Firefox 26. Two finger scroll down is not working all of a sudden only with Firefox.

    Hardware : Macbook Pro
    Operating System : OS X Mavericks v10.9.1
    Browser : Firefox v26.0
All of a sudden, two finger scrolls doesn't work. Thats only when I am within Firefox Window. Everywhere it just works great. I got NO scroll bars at the edges of browser(Firefox) too. No way of proper browsing other than switching to Safari.
    Request to fix this asap.
    Thanks.

I'm having the same problem but what I found was the scrolling on my iMac was it works until you try and swipe to go back a page. Then the only solution is the quit the program and restart it.
Spec is an Apple magic track Pad on my iMac with OS X 10.9.
I'm currently using FireFox v25 but the same issue is in v27.0.1.

  • Macs running OS X Tiger 10.4.4 keep shutting themselves down!

We have a no. of macs connected to an OS X Tiger server and at the same time everyday, one by one the macs drop off the network and then shut themselves down! It's exactly 5 minute intervals between each mac. Has anyone had any shut down problems with Tiger. There are macs with OS 9 installed, and they do the same thing. The macs run fine during the day and it starts happening between 5.30pm and 6.00pm. Surely if there was a power problem all the macs would shut down immediately. The software settings have been checked and they are not congfigured to shut down at a certain time. The server has no configuration to shutdown nor control the clients. We are stumped! Help please anyone?

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.
If it's a Core 2 Duo Mac, follow the Core Duo instructions and then buy a download code for Lion from the online Apple Store.

Same proble here, although the Firefox system requirements says it is OK to have PowerPC G3 G4 or G5 ( I have G5 2GHZ)

  • I have a Mac running 10.9.2. My wireless mouse with not scroll in mail but works fine in other applications? Any suggestions?

I have a Mac running 10.9.2. My apple wireless mouse will not scroll in Mail but works fine in other applications.
    Any suggestions?

First, see this discussion. If the solution suggested there doesn't work for you, continue.
If you've installed a Mail plugin called "Mail Unread Menu" and you know how to remove it, please do that, then quit and relaunch Mail. Test. Otherwise, see below.
    Back up all data.
    1. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder may open, or you may get an error message that the item can't be found. Either result is normal. If the folder does open and has contents, move the contents to the Desktop. Relaunch Mail and test. If there's no change, put the contents of the folder back and quit Mail again.
    2. Repeat with this line:
    /Library/Mail/Bundles
This time you may be prompted for your login password when you remove the items. Make sure they're removed from the folder and not just copied to the Desktop. If necessary, copy them first and then move the originals to the Trash.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • I loaded Mac OS X v10.7 Lion yesterday. Everything's running fine, except for a simple problem. Any time I want to copy a file, JPEG, etc., I am prompted "Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this." I don't want this!! Is there a way

I loaded Mac OS X v10.7 Lion yesterday. Everything’s running fine, except for a simple problem. Any time I want to copy a file, JPEG, etc., I am prompted “Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this.” I don’t want this!! Is there a way to unlock “Finder” or rid this process?

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. You can demote it back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:20 ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ 2> /dev/null
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word, all lower case, with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

adobe slowed down after running fine on a Mac Book Pro.   Adobe Settings have been Reset

    Hello Gener7,
I did try everything on the FAQ page (all steps) I also did them a few more times with "Adobe help" walking me through 2 more times.  I just don't get it, I have been on with Adobe on some days up to 5 hours at a time for over a month now.  I think it must be something with the installation disc but they say no, no, switchboard is just not working on my OS X 10.9.4.  I even took the computer into the apple store here and had them look it over, reinstall everything and they say it's the Adobe software.
Thank you very much for your help, it's nice to know someone is reading this :-)  I do work around this by saving the files and reopening them in the next program I need but everyone in class is always waiting on me, (it sucks) and I just think it should work.  Hope you have a good day and I will put an update on here if this is ever figured out.
    Thanks one more time :-)

    Hello Mark Malecki,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
I understand you are having some issues with iTunes on your MacBook. You may want to isolate the issues further by testing to see if they persist in a new user account:

You can also try starting iTunes in safe mode:

  • HT5361 Mail runs fine at first but after awhile it freezes the machine.  I have shut the mac down and restart. I am running Mountain Lion.

Mail runs fine at first but after awhile it freezes the machine.  I have shut the mac down and restart. I am running Mountain Lion which was updated from Leopard.  I reinstalled original programs from disk and solved this same problem with Contact.  Mail is still a problem.  May also include itunes which seems to add to the problem.

Run Disk Utility to check the SMART status of your hard drive.

  • Reader updates on Mac state it must have internet connection, but my Safari is up and running fine. What to do?

I have Reader 9.5.5 on Mac OS 10.10.2 and frequently get Adobe update notifications in my dock, accompanied by a warning panel that states an internet connection is necessary, but I have my Safari browser up and running fine. So I can never get the updater beyond this point. This happens periodically and I have written Adobe and never received an answer. Adobe should make the updates a seamless, nearly automatic file, but instead they are still using antiquated software which is confusing (unless you are an IT person) and difficult to troubleshoot. Adobe could do much better.

Your Reader version 9.5.5 is very old and no longer supported.
I suggest that you uninstall it, then install the latest version using the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
