Lightroom 5.7 Installer Fails on Win 8.1 - Windows compatibility reports incompatible

Have had a case open since 15.2 and getting nowhere (0186366824). Was wondering if anybody here has encountered this issue and resolved?
New PC, clean install of Windows 8.1. My old 3.6 version of LR returned an installer failure and was advised it was incompatible and I needed to upgrade. 5.7 now behaves the same.
To date I have been instructed to downland full versions of LR - 5.5, 5.6 and 5.7. All fail at the installer running as Admin.
The last direction from support was a little scary considering I own numerous Adobe products:-
Please follow these steps to remove all Adobe folders from your computer and then retry to install it back:
Remove Adobe Folders:-
> C:\Program Files\Adobe*
> C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe*
> C:\Program Files\Common Files\Macrovision Shared
> C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe*
> C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe*
> C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Macrovision Shared
> (Hidden) C:\ProgramData\Adobe*
> C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet
> C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\
Roaming\Adobe*
> C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\com.adobe.*
> C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Adobe*
> C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe*
> C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe*
Remove Adobe folders:-
Registry Editor (Type "Regedit" in Run windows)
> Go to Hkey Local Machine\Software\Adobe
> Hkey Current User\Software\Adobe
Now install Lightroom 5 from the below mentioned link:
  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5741
And then Enter the serial Key of Lightroom 5 and then Lightroom 1
It will install and activate the product.

Thank you very much.
I did uninstall Adobe Air, Adobe Reader XI and another Adobe product, rebooted, and after this the installation was possible with no problems!

Try locating  the lightroom exe ( Executable) file into Temp folder and  install the product by running that executable file.
    To locate Temp folder.
Hold Win ( Key) + R to open Run window.
    Type %temp% press Enter.
Locate Lightroom exe file into Temp folder and Run it.

  • Lightroom 5.2 installation fails - Javascript warning

I've tried to install Lightroom 5.0 and, just now, Lightroom 5.2. The installer fails with a warning: "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.2 can't be installed on this disk. An error occurred while evaluating JavaScript for the package." Not exactly clear. It also displays a warning for my primary drive and for the installer volume.
When I look in the installer log I see the following entry:
Oct 12 13:34:26 TM-MBP-2.local Installer[721]: JS: Package Authoring Error: Exception thrown while running volume check. TypeError: 'null' is not an object (evaluating 'my.target.systemVersion.ProductVersion')
This is also unhelpful. When I look into the console for errors I found the following entry:
10/12/13 1:34:23.000 PM kernel[0]: HFS: Vol: Lightroom 5.2 Very Low Disk: freeblks: 1084, dangerlimit: 1178
Apparently the Lightroom installer is complaining about the amount of disk space available. The drive I'm trying to install it has 134 gb of space available.
Any suggestions about how to get LR 5.2 installed?
    Tony

I also found a weird problem with VMware when I tried to start a virtual machine. After trying to track that down I found the following article: https://communities.vmware.com/message/2297745
According to this article the VMware problem is caused by the 10.8.5 update and can be resolved by:
    Solution to the issue is:
    1. Download the update package from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1686
    2. Create an empty mach_kernel file (otherwise the update installer won't work) using Terminal command:
    sudo touch /mach_kernel
    3. Install the OSXUpd10.8.5Supp.pkg from the downloaded file. It should restore the proper mach_kernel file.
After installing the update (and before restarting) it's possible to verify that the file was installed correctly:
    ls -l /mach_kernel
It should show the permissions -rw-r--r--, owner root, group wheel, and file size 8244640 bytes.
To prevent the mach_kernel file from showing up in Finder, run the command:
    sudo chflags hidden /mach_kernel
I tried this and I could start a virtual machine. I thought I'd try the LR 5.2 installer again and it worked! Yay!

  • Lightroom 4.3 installer hangs in Win 8

I'm having no luck at all installing Adobe products in Win 8 64-bit.  I downloaded LR 4.3 and tried to install it.  The Photoshop Lightroom 4.3 Installer window opens with "Preparing files," and says that the downloaded files are being extracted.  According to the progress bar, nothing is being extracted, and it just sits there doing nothing.  I have another message here describing how the CS6 installer will not initialize on this computer. Could these be related?  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Well, after several retries of getting the LR installer to work, it suddenly just worked.  LR3 is working in Win 8 for me now.  All I need is for Epson to finally release Win 8 drivers for the R1900.

  • Lightroom 5 updgrade installation fails

I just downloaded a lightroom 5 upgrade from adobe and tried to install it.  The default installation parameters failed with either insufficient disk space or a directory permission problem (it wasn't specific).  I have 45gb of free disk space, so it wasn't that.  Tried moving the "unzip" directory to computer/local disk/users/myusername/lightroomtemp. This time the installation went 100%, but then failed again with the same message.  Are there any log files?  any other ideas?
    thanks!

Thank you for your reply. I realize that this is a user forum;  Adobe support was closed until Monday, and the site "highly encouraged" users to use the forum as "the best place to get answers."
I read the "Readme" that came with the Lightroom 5 installation. I checked compliancy with everything except for the graphics card (Lightroom 3 works fine, so I'm expecting Lightroom 5 to also work fine.)
Here are the system requirements out of the readme:
    Windows
     Processor: Intel® Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon® 64  ( I have an AMD Phenom II 4 core, 3.2ghz)
 DirectX IO-capable or later graphics card (I'm pretty sjure my graphics card is compliant)
     OS: Microsoft® Windows® 7 with Service Pack 1 or later (Yes)
     RAM: 2 GB (4 GB Recommended) (I have 4gb)
 Hard Disk: 2 GB of available hard-disk space (I have 114gb free now out of 465gb on my hard disk drive.)
     Display: 1024 x 768 Monitor Resolution (yes)
 Internet connection required for Internet-based services (internet is connected)
Here are the messages from a screen shot from the failed installation:  it says:  (title bar) Photoshop Lightroom 5.3 installer
Error message:  a problem occurred while extracting some files.  Check available space on your computer and write privileges on the destination folder.
I ran the installer using all defaults, and again in a higher level directory that I seemed to have write access to.  Both times it failed after about 87% through the installation.
Thanks for any suggestions that you might have;  I really appreciate any ideas.  I'm pretty computer savvy, and am usually able to sort out a problem, but the lack of log files and specific error messages is limiting my ability to debug this problem

    Hello,
you are facing bug 3610052, on Windows platforms you must not install EM into a directory starting with 'u'. This is interpreted as unicode encode and throws 'Malformed encoding' error message.

  • Lightroom 4 64bit installation fail

    Hi
Does anyone know what´s wrong: My 64bit Lightroom installation stops when extracting lighroom 64bit.msi. I have 64bit win 7. I have tried to start win only minimum processes and tried to uninstall old 3.6 version.  After trying to install windows installer msiexec stays on processes list but gets no cpu time. 32bit-installation goes well.

    Hi
i'm experiencing same problem and can't find any answer....
Installation starts successfully then the message "extracting .msi" show up and then .... everything stops and nothing more.
I see that process msiexec.exe is up but not running, i tried to wait a long time... in case the installing process is slow... but nothing happened.
I had not had any problem installing the Beta version of LR4, I have no problem installing other applications.
After much manipulation I'm confused (and frustrated):
    - I re-load from the adobe website
    - I disabled everything that was possible on the PC (including anti-virus)
    - I tried System Restore at a later date
    - I tried installing on my laptop also in windows 7 64bit and it works!
    - I tried Setup32 launched, and it seems to work.
the last thing I have not tried is re-install of the OS ... I prefer to avoid this...
does anyone of you have ever had the trouble and managed to solve it?
    thank you in advance

A quick Internet search suggests that this error is not specific to
GroupWise and people have seen it (for DLL_.ini) with several different
applications on Windows XP and later.
Unfortunately I haven't found a specific solution although InstallShield
crops up. There was a reference to the temporary directory (%TEMP%) so
check that's there is free disk space, user has rights to that, etc.

  • Installations failed on Win XP

    Hi,
I'm really in trouble, because any kind of Oracle Installation, and especially 92010NT_CLT fail due to the following reasons (error messages translated from french) :
    Error when loading WindowsGeneralQueries, and
Error when loading AreasQueries, and so on
I even tried to download and install disk1, disk2, and disk3 (the complete distribution) but the same happens
    Do you have any clue?
    TIA

    Hi again,
    I found the solution:
the reason is that my installation path is too long
    it was C:\Documents and Settings\...\Oracle\92010NT_CLT\Install\Win32
    I turned to C:\Oracle\92010NT_CLT\Install\Win32
    and now it works fine
    Bye

    Hi all,
The setup program fails just after asking for the installation directory. It just hangs...
    Any idea?
    Regards,

Please check your %TEMP% setting - it should point to the existing writable directory. Also, if beta releases
of the product were installed on the system, check %TEMP% directory for any leftover files called WindowsNativeToolkit* or setupSDKNative.exe and remove them before restarting the setup.

  • Silent Installation Failed in Weblogic 702 for windows when there are blank space in Path

    Hi ,
I meet a problem when doing silent installation on windows using weblogic 702.
The problem is that the path_to_silent.xml has "blank space". Anyone knows that
there are some work around method? here is the command line :
    server702_win32.exe -mode=silent -silent_xml="c:\program files\rsa security\passage
server\weblogic\windows\silent.xml". Actually, We need embed the weblogic installation
in our product, so we need above command line work normally.
    Any information is appreciated!!!!

  • Adobe Photoshop 13.0.1.2 Installation failed. Error Code: U44M2P7   Windows 7 x64

Tired of errors. I am paying for something, I need it to work. I have deadlines! I do NOT have time to sit here researching error codes and messages. Time for this @$%(& to just work!!

The typical way of dealing with this is to fully uninstall the product, then reinstall afresh and apply the updates right away.
The updates all installed properly for me (I also run Windows 7 x64), so I can attest to the ability to successfully get through it.
