Lightroom 5 auto import issues with nikon d90

Hoping someone can help answer my question - I am wondering if Lightroom 5 has any issues with the auto import or tethering feature using a Nikon d90? I was using Lightroom 2 and the auto import feature has no issues with my d90. After I installed Lightroom 5 (Cloud App) and ran it for the first time, the first thing I used was the tethering feature and it worked great for 4 shots. I turned my camera off and then back on again and LR would not recognize my camera any longer for tethering. What's strange is that it will detect it for "Importing from Device" option. So, I went to plan two which was to auto import and that wasn't working at all. I am at a loss. I have a shoot coming up this weekend and need for one of these options to work. Any help is appreciated!!!

I use a D90, but I have never tried tethered shooting with it. Other users might have some suggestions for you, but looking at the list of supported cameras for tethered shooting the D90 is not "officially" supported in Lightroom. So you're probably on your own to find solutions. I know this isn't a lot of help.

  • CS2 Raw File issues with Nikon D90

Just saw the post  on Nikon D90 non compatibility with CS2 raw file format. Questions are where to go from here. Running Windows XP with a AMD Athlon (tm) XP3000+ 2.16 ghz 448 mb ram. Is Cs4 or  Cs5 compatible with my system. I used a D70 for years and had no problems. What is going on here? I can probably add ram to get the 1000 mb of ram but what about the rest? Is there another alternative other than a new system?

    Caution!
Before plunking down the $$$ for CS5, look for the several threads around here where people are discovering their older AMD processors are not compatible with Photoshop CS5!
    For example:  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/630771
I'm not familiar with the processors in the AMD lineup, but it's possible yours will not run Photoshop CS5 until such time as Adobe releases an update.

  • Lightroom 5 & lightroom iphone app import issues with iOS8

    hi guys,
recently i am having problems with importing iphone pics thru the lightroom app. for reasons i dont understand the images comes to lr in small resolution (640x852). if i work on the pic in the app- and save it to the camera roll the images in the app its full resolution. ideas?
Message was edited by: Ignacio Barrientos - updated title

You did not mention if it always were the same images that were not being synced in your original post.
    Hence the question.
Even though it might seem silly for you - those questions being answered can make us understand where the problem lies.
The problem can be that you have an app that shoots pictures that are causing the issue, etc.
Best way to help us and yourself would be:
letting us know if it always only happens to a specific set of images
if only specific set of images causes this - where did they come from, had they been edited somewhere else or where they untouched when you imported them to Lr mobile
be very specific in your posts, things like "if i work on the pic in the app- and save it to the camera roll the images in the app its full resolution. " Doesn't really help us to understand where you are seeing the full resolution image, leaving us to assumptions that can be wrong.
If your workaround is to edit the images that's good but it still doesn't solve your problem right?
What you can do is - next time you have this issue - go to the settings in Lr mobile (Lr icon inside the app) and once the settings are open, press the Lr icon again for a couple of seconds to get a diagnostics log.
Then send it to me privately, do not post here directly, and we can see if it lets us know whats going on.
    Thanks,
    Ignacio

  • RC 8.6 Issues with Nikon D810 NEF RAW files

RC 8.6 does not correctly process Nikon D810 NEF RAW files. See the following blog article for some details:
Nikon D810 vs D800E ISO Comparison

This is very helpful. My current workflow, until ACR 8.6 and LR fully support the Nikon D810, are to use the DNG converter and import the resulting D810 DNG files into my LR catalog.
I have not yet tried this (traveling right now), but I assume I can still make a custom profile using the X-Rite ColorChecker Passport and it's associated software for my D810 using the RC 8.6 DNG files. This is my normal workflow for all of my other cameras in LR, but the process is direct from native RAW and not DNG (to produce the custom profile).

Until Lightroom gets D810 support, you will need to use the ACR plugin in order to see the profiles. The DNG Converter always uses Adobe Standard, and embeds it into the DNG. Lightroom 5.5 doesn't have the D810 profiles.

  • Importing issues with Final Cut Pro X. Green flash and twitches while play back

Hello, I'm having some importing issues with Final Cut Pro X and I can't find any solution whatsoever. Perhaps my importing settings are wrong?
Anyways, I've done a lot of recordings on eye TV and HD PVR with some videos that are about 3 hours long. I exported them into H.264 files, which turns them into mpeg-4 files with AAC audio. Then I import them into final cut pro X and I notice it takes a long time for them to render the videos and I notice that there are some green screens and twitches while I play through the video.
Here is a screenshot of the green screen that I'm talking about:

Could it be my 2 video graphics card that is causing this kind of issues? Or is there any solution to fix this?
In the past, I've used iMovie 09 and it worked out perfectly. However, the new iMovie 11 is terrible because it automatically optimzie my 3 hour long videos into making the importing process to (144 hours long to import). Is there any way to get iMovie 09 back or am I stuck on dealing with this Final Cut Pro X issues?

  • Will there ever be an upgrade for Lightroom 3 that will work with Nikon d800 NEF files?

Will there ever be an upgrade to Lightroom 3 that will work with Nikon D800 NEF files?

Why not use Lightroom 4 instead?
I mean, assuming you can get it running fast enough, you'll usually get better results with PV2012 - right? And in the cases where you prefer PV2010 (if there are any), it's there too...

  • Import issue with Lightroom

I upgraded to LR5.2 2 weeks ago from 4.3. Install went fine, but I'm now having issues when importing my photos, Lightroom hangs partially through the import.  The only choice I have then is to force quit the program, which then freezes my computer.  Getting to be an invredibly frustrating exercise.
I have an iMac with OSX10.8.5 (Mountain Lion)
    Lightroom 5.2
Importing & converting CR2 files (5DMkIII) to DNG.
Images being imported to an external hard drive.
Nothing has changed in my workflow or software except for the installation of LR5.  I did read in some of the forums that there was import issues that appear to have been fixed with the latest release, however, whilst I DEFINTIELY have the latest release of LR5,  this is still occurring.  Any ideas? Another bug?
    Cheers
    Sarah

sure did. All permissions are admin & I'm it.  I haven't tried DL via image capture - LR4 gets me to the same end goal, tis just rather onerous to have to muck around with this twice.  Appreciate your taking the time on this

  • Aperture FREEZES WHILE TETHERED with Nikon D90

I shoot a lot in my studio, so shooting tethered with my Nikon D90 is very useful... UNTIL Aperture freezes every 10-15 captures, so I have to FORCE QUIT it and restart. This, of course, is SUPER ANNOYING, especially when CLIENTS are watching.
Can anyone please enlighten me what's going on, and how I could alleviate the problem? I'm running the latest version of Aperture on a MacBook Pro 17" with a 2.3GHz processor and 4GB of RAM. And I'm usually not running anything other than iTunes alongside Aperture while shooting. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I finally gave up on tethered shooting with my Nikon D3 and Aperture 3. Aperture crashed every fifth shot or so and made me crazy. I tried new libraries, new cables, faster computer, etc. I submitted countless bug reports. I waited patiently for a software fix, because I never had this problem with Aperture 2.
I gave up and rolled back to Aperture 2 on my laptop (which I use only for tethered shooting). Now tethering works perfectly again; it's a software issue. I've had one crash in maybe 2000 shots with Aperture 2, and I can live with that. It's a crummy solution, but it's either that or I buy Lightroom and scrap Aperture for good.
FYI: the raw converter is different in Ap2 than Ap3. What looks good in Ap2 looks underexposed in Ap3 (almost by a stop, looking at the histograms), and the color rendering is quite different between the two. If you try this Ap2 solution out, do some testing before you do a live shoot to make sure you're happy with your results.

  • Aperture 3 with Nikon D90 - How should raw fine tuning look like?

I try to trouble shoot my Aperture 3 (trial) installation. I have some troubles with the raw fine tuning controls and after reading the manual (again) I noticed that the fine tuning controls I get for my D90 are different from the ones displayed in the manual.
I get boost, hue boost / sharpening, edges / moire, radius, noise-reduction sliders.
In the manual there is no noise-reduction slider, just a check box for Auto Noise Compensation.
I got that control in Aperture 2, but not in Aperture 3. Now I’m wondering if something went wrong with my Aperture 3 installation. That would explain the problems I have with raw fine tuning. But before I try a complete clean install of my Mac i would like to know if I get the right raw fine tuning controls in Aperture 3.
Does anybody use Aperture 3 and a Nikon D90 and could tell me how the raw fine tuning controls he gets in Aperture 3 look like?
    Thanks.

Greetings, First be sure you have your d7100 properly set to take maximum detail NEF images.
Go to your d7100 shooting menu and choose NEF (Raw) recording > Type
    Choose N Lossless Compressed
Then go to NEF (RAW) Recording > NEF (RAW) Bit depth
    Choose 14 bits
You were given good advice that you should not mess with the raw fine tuning brick in Aperture 3.6
Your d7100 has a default RAW import preset - make sure you have somehow not changed that Apple Aperture coded
raw fine tuning preset - this could make all your images far less sharp on import. You can easily revert to the Aperture 3.6 raw import brick default for the d7100 if you have somehow changed it by error. And always be sure to use your Aperture loupe or full screen viewer when applying any adjustment bricks.
Finally be sure that you understand the differences between the Sharpen adjustment and the Edge Sharpen adjustment. Both of these are very sensitive and very different sharpening tools. I do not shoot with a d7100, but use other Nikon FX DSLR's and I have never felt that any of my NEF imports lacked either Sharpness or Edge Sharpness given the Apple Aperture default raw image digital converters for each particular Nikon body. Good luck.

  • Adobe Camera Raw 8.6 issue with Nikon D810 files

Just installed ACR 8.6 with D810 support.
A huge amount of moire is introduced when selecting the following profiles: camera standard, camera landscape, camera vivid, and camera monochrome.
All other profiles (adobe standard, camera neutral, camera flat, and camera portrait) seem ok.
The problem exists in Photoshop (via ACR) and in Lightroom 5.6. Please note that Nikon Capture NX-D doesn't have this issue.
Example: Check the upper portion of the following image:

I have experienced the same, although having never owned a camera without the olpf, I did not realize that what I was seeing was moire -- I was calling it "color banding" as if shooting with a low bit rate or very small color gamut.
I think the same issue is referred to in the following post: http://www.dslrbodies.com/accessories/software-for-nikon-dslrs/software-news/acr-86-and-li ghtroom-56.html but he is vague as to just what the "issue" is.
I noticed this issue not only with acr, but on the back of the lcd of the 810 itself.  Wondering if I was doing something wrong in terms of settings or if it was a bad copy of the d810, I contacted nikon support. They were not helpful and told me to return the unit for repair.   I saw this to a great degree on the lcd, to a small degree even in the raw images processed via Capture NX-D and to some extent via acr 8.6 as you say, when using he following profiles: camera standard, camera landscape, camera vivid, and camera monochrome.  Since I was not able to convince myself tat it was not an issue with the camera itself, I returned the d810, so I was not stuck with a problematic unit or having to wait for a repair.  Now of course I just have to wait for a replacement unit!!
Again, I am curious as to the extent others are seeing this problem.  I am seeing nothing but superlatives posted by others.  I am hoping that this is some raw processing issue and a bad lcd screen on my original d810, but it seems too big of a coincidence.  If it is a matter of Adobe racing to keep up with the new profiles ok, but if this is the extent that I am going to see moire on a camera of this price then it is not worth the upgrade.
    What are others experiencing?

  • How to deal with Nikon D90 AVI files in FCE 4

I purchased a Nikon D90 digital camera and it records clips stored in AVI format at 1280x720. When I import the video, a red line appears on the video render status line. Why does the video need to be rendered before making any changes?
Also, why when importing AVCHD video from my Sony camera, no rendering needs to be done?
Another question. With the AVI video, what is the best way to export in HD so I can post on the web?
    Thanks for any help.

as far as I know, the D90 (.. what a beast - and the price!!) records in 30fps, 1280x720 square pixel, MotionJpeg, .avi container ..
which is +a bit off+ the standards, FCE does support.. = rendering
I had the opportunity to 'play around' for some minutes with the D90.. and made some 'test'-recordings.. it is really breathtaking to use 'photography' techniqués while doing video, esp. FoD...
    but..
have you seen that movie done with the Canon 5D II?
    http://www.usa.canon.com/dlc/controller?act=GetArticleAct&articleID=2086
it offers some more practical features, as automatic focus (=Nikon lacks that), and, even more important, the Canon allows to switch off automatic exposure (=in my tests with the D90, the pic 'pulsated' due to diff. light situaation) ...
    ==edit==
oops, Canon pulled that video.. too much bandwidth
absolutely brilliant, perfect photography, even in low light condition, ... but 'motion picture' ..

  • Importing video from Nikon D90 to iMovie by USB memory card reader

    Hi,
I've been trying to import the videos in my camera (Nikon D90) using memory card reader (USB).
I always transfer the photos to computer using memory card reader and my new Mac seems to be happy to import the photos to iPhotos. That's a good news!
However, when I try to transfer the video from D90 to Mac using the same card reader, the videos go to iPhoto straightaway. I can't import the video to iMovie! I can find the videos in Finder (All Movies), and iPhoto, but can't transfer them to iMovie. Can anybody tell me how to do this? .. if it's possible.

You can download a free copy of ViewNX2 from the Nikon Website. This software will install a program called Nikon Transfer 2 and will take over the auto loading from iPhoto when you insert a memory card into your card reader. Then you need to import the footage manually into iMovie 11. But before you do that, ViewNX2 has a built in movie editor to allow you to trim the footage before import.
    Hope this helps..

  • Exporting Issue with Nikon D7100

    Hi.
Just shot some footage with Nikon D7100, 1080p 23.4fps.
I have recently exported on these settings using the H.264 with no issue.
Today I sped the footage up to 2500% (20 min down to 35 seconds) and when I export it is turning my video into a squashed box that has been dramatically degraded.
I doubt this is to do with speeding up though?
These are my settiings. Any ideas?  It will be something stupidly simple.

Weird things can happen with extreme speed up. Can't say what exactly the issue is without seeing the footage. However - I would UNcheck the boxes for Frame Blending and Max Render. Frame Blending is used when changing frame rates, which you are not, 24p source and 24p export. The blending could definitely mess up the output. Max Render is used when downscaling, which again you are not going - adds time to the render.
Lastly, how will the exported video be viewed? For web/computer viewing, you want to use square pixels (1.0 pixel aspect ratio). Exporting as anamorphic (1440x1080 1.33 PAR), it may play back as 4:3 rather than 16:9. So export either as 1920x1080 (1.0 PAR) or 720p (1280x720, 1.0 PAR) for best results.
    Thanks

  • Auto-Signon issue with RADIUS authentication

Hi all, i post again a question Posted by ronin2307 on Nov 27, 2007, 9:40am PST
I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH 8.0.3 release!
    Hi,
we have a fairly simple configuration running on our ASA and try to make use of the webvpn on occasion. The feature used to work great with 7.2, but after we upgraded to 8.0 we started having problems.
Basically an user (network admin) can log in through the webvpn interface (authenticated by a RADIUS server) and see the links to network shares we provide, click on them and at that point the user is promptedfor credentials again. upon entering them then message comes up that the access to the resources has been blocked due to security reasons.
Now to me that makes no sense whatsoever. I have already run the following command:
    auto-signon allow ip 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 auth-type ntlm
to try to prevent the second credentials prompt but to doesn't do anything.
I also tried to capture the webvpn traffic, according to the user manual, but now i have a zip file that contains bunch of files, I cannot read (except notepad, but that doesn't help a lot). Ethereal will not open the files. I couldn't get to display the capture in the browser as described in the manual.
can anybody give me an idea on what to do to troubleshoot this problem? Thank you very much.

For single sign on using NTLM on a webVPN set up, you need to ensure you configure it through the command line. Did you use the ASDM for this single sign on? To configure auto-signon for all WebVPN users to servers with IP addresses ranging from
10.1.1.0 to 10.1.1.255 using NTLM authentication, for example, enter the following
    commands:
    hostname(config)# webvpn
    hostname(config-webvpn)# auto-signon allow ip 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0 auth-type ntlm
