Lightroom 5: Can't make smart collection using keywords?

I watched a tutorial about how to make smart collections using keywords.
I spent a couple hours selecting the photos (using the paint can, good tip) and giving about 700 photos the keyword "use". Then I went to make a smart collection and discovered that it only allows you "any text field" with no reference to keywords. Many photos in my huge collection have the letters "use" in their titles.
So is there no way to select keywords as a basis for smart collections????

Creating smart collections using Import Smart Collection settings

Does anybody know if I can create smart collections using Import Smart collection settings? Where can I find any information on this other than Photo collections? In particular, I am interested in what to do with the ID.

I'll try to explain the best I can. I am trying to improve my workflow.
I have been a little lazy with my workflow, I don't rate by images for 2 reasons: 1) I haven't found a rating system I am comfortable with (we might have discussed this on another thread), and 2) I am not very good at critically assessing my own photo graphic work. This means I have very often jumped to the develop module to adjust an image without ever bother to rate them (almost 20% of my catalog).
I have also rated some images and never touched them.
So I have a need to find images I have rated and adjusted, images I have rated and not adjusted, and images I have adjusted and not rated.
Now, my photographers vision and knowledge have both changed substantially over the past 5 years. So to make the task more manageable I am trying to divide my catalog into 3 collections per year:
1 - Rated and adjusted
2 - Rated and not adjusted
3 - Adjusted and not rated
The assumption is that this is the bit of the catalog worth looking at and re-organise first. I know that anything I edited last year would have been more proficiently edited that anything I edited in 2010.
Does it make some sense?

Can't create Smart Collection, Save-Button doesn't work

i have the Problem that i can't create Smart Collection, the Save-Button doesn't work, the Smart-Collection Window stays open and nothing happens when i click the "save" button!
i use CC with a new installed W8 and all is up-to-date.

Just to clarify, Photoshop CC has not been released yet. It will come out on June 17.
What you have now is Photoshop 13.x as per the subscription model (»Abo«) and it's called Photoshop CS6. When Photoshop 14.x is released on June 17, then it will be called "CC".
It's not clear—at least to me—which images, if any, you have selected in Bridge when you hit the »Speichern« (Save) button.
Remember that a Collection is nothing more than a saved search, i.e. a saved collection of selected search results (hits).
Could you elaborate on what it is you want to save as a collection?

Yes. You can do it one of two ways:
1 - select FTP Server in the Publish To menu (click on the site folder to get to the options) and enter the FTP address, username and password and publish as you would if using MMe.
2 - select Publish to Folder and publish. Use a 3rd party FTP client like Cyberduck to upload the site files to there server using the FTP address, etc.

Smart album using keyword not working

I'm creating smart albums using keywords. Today I created two smart albums tagging select photos with key words. One album has worked correctly, the other album is empty, showing only black background. I've confirmed photos are tagged with the one key word, I've confirmed the key word exists in the list. I can't figure out why the smart album is not generating.

Try going to the Q tab and get rid of all the search field by clicking the circle at the right hand side, leaving only the Keywords field, then ensure the rating field is at unrated or better as this field cannot be removed. Allan

Smart Collections : Without Keywords shows 325,
But there are only 8 photos in my entire catalog.
It appears the number of Pictures without keywords is not updating after importing or removing photos

Smart collection using "person shown"

Does LR3 support creating a smart collection by searching the value in the "Person Shown" field? What I would like to do is list the people in the picture then be able to create smart collections to find pictures with specific people in it, such as all pictures of Bob or all pictures of Bob, Bill, and Bret. I thought I'd be able to use "Person Shown" for this but it doesn't seem to be the case. If not, what technique can I use to accomplish what I'm looking to do?

You can put the name of the people in the photo into any field that Lightroom does recognize (for example, the caption field), and then make your smart collection.
Alternatively, you could assign keywords with the person's name, and simply click on the arrow to the right of the keyword name to perform your search, or create a smart collection based on keywords.

Can't get Smart Collection to do what I want

I'm trying to create a Smart Collection named Needs Editing to filter images with at least 1 star that haven't had adjustments made. I put both criteria in and it found the appropriate images but as soon as I make one adjustment, the image disappears from the collection and I can't make any other adjustments.
I then thought that I could add a criterion to use a color flag of Green to identify when I was done with the adjustments and have the image drop out of the collection. The rules panel looks like:
match all
1. Rating ≥ 1
2. All of the following are true:
a. has adjustments is false
b. label color is green
This new rule doesn't match any images, though. (The original rule matched 108.)

If I understand your question, you are saying that it will not allow you to continue editing after the first adjustment.
try right clicking the image > go to folder in library. Then go to develop.

Can't view smart collections on a different computer

I've generated about a dozen smart collections from photos on an external drive. This was done on my laptop.
When I try to view the smart collections with the drive mounted to my desktop, I get the error message "collection target folder cannot be found". Sometimes it will say to purge the cache, which I've done several times, but to no avail. I realize the smart collection data is on the laptop's hard drive. Is there a way to put it on the same drive as the photos?
When I go back to the laptop, everything's fine again. Is there a way to view the collections on both computers?

I'm not sure but I think this is possible. Bridge is very user specific and a collection and a smart collection is nothing but a bunch of aliases. While the files are on the same disk the other end is different.
You might copy the collection file itself (on a Mac: user library / application support / Adobe/ Bridge CSxx / collections to the other system in the same location but besides I still don't know if this would work it is also a bit of a PITA to keep searching and copying those files.
My workflow would be to create new folders on the external disk and select the collection in the content window. Then use select all and copy (or move, whatever workflow suites you) the files to those new location. Those new folders could be selected in both machines. Not ideal but for the moment I can't think of anything better

Can I make a DVD using Quicktime or anything else in my arsenal?

First off I apologize for m idiocracy in posting this in "Quicktime for Windows" before this as I simply was noy paying any attention, also, please forgive me what I am about to ask has been discussed, but I didn't find any answers in my searching so here goes: How can I make a DVD that will play in TV set DVD players? Do I need any alternate programs or possibly an upgrade to Quicktime Pro?
Heres the situation I have that way, with any luck, you'll understand what and I am trying to do (and hopefully tell me it's a rather easy process): I have a friend that has a bunch of skate videos available for download on his personal web page....turns out those downloads are .mgp and they play through Quicktime. Now what I want to do is take those said videos and make them into a DVD I can watch in any player. Is this possible with Quicktime, iDVD, or anything else that came standard with my new Macbook or do I need another program? Sorry, I'm a new Mac user.

If you have do do many then buy Toast 8 Titanium and use them directly in Toast and skip first making a QT version then turning around and making yet another version. Which avoid compressing the clips twice as well. MPEG-1 is a very low quality codec so I would not compress the clips once to QT and again to iDVD.
Also iDVD is fussy and takes forever, Toast isn't and doesn't.
